Change The World

He gave her another little smile and moved his head a little closer to her stroking fingers, when his attention turned to the orange colored ball. An annoyed groan, he knew it was gonna happen eventually. The moment would not last that much longer, it seemed.

Her attention was now turned to the small person clinging onto her. "Kagome! You guys were gone a long time. I thought Inuyasha made you mad and you went home." Shippo turned his head glaring at the hanyou that stood beside her. Kagome reluctantly removed her hand from his and picked up the small kitsune kit from the shirt she was wearing. "No, Shippo. He didn't make me angry. We just lost track of time." What more could she tell him? It was the truth. Not all of it, but he was only a child. She could tell him much more.

"Yeah...that's all..." He said under his breath, crossing his arms. "Just...lost track of time. 'Sides, what's it matter to you if we're a little late, we're here now ain't we?" he asked, antagonizing the little kit. "Why don't you Mind your own business, kid." He poked the demon in the forehead.

Shippo huffed and stuck his tongue out at the half dog demon. "Well, I don't care if you're late." He continued, sticking his nose up into the hair and closed his eyes. "I was worried about Kagome." The brown eyed girl looked down at Shippo and pursed her lips, knowing that Inuyasha would be mad. "Shippo," she stated kindly, trying to talk before Inuyasha did. "We're here now. Atleast we're not hurt." She smiled and ruffled his hair. "I say we take a bath. Lets go see if Sango wants to take one with us."

"Heh, you three have fun. I'll be here keeping Miroku from watching you like the lecher he is." he said as he moved around kagome and into the hut. Outside of Shippo's little stunt, he was still in a pretty good mood.

"Why Inuyasha, I'm hurt you would assume I would do something so lecherous." Miroku teased. "I only do that now and again. Now please, you ladies go enjoy yourselves while we have a nice, simple discussion."

Kagome rolled her eyes are Miroku's antics. 'Uh huh,' she thought. Going into the hut, she put Shippo down a moment so that she was able to get the things she needed out of her bag and then picked him back up. By that time, Sango was already standing with Kirara by her side. "We'll be back shortly." Kagome stated, giving the men both a warning glare, especially Miroku before leaving with Sango.

Once the women were out of sigh, Miroku immediately turned his attention to Inuyasha, a knowing grin on his face. "So." he said with a chuckle. "Based upon your distressed hair, ruffled clothing and the VERY satisfied look on your face, I will assume you and Kagome-"

"You know we did." Inuyasha grunted. Not like he could hide it. So why deny it? Hell, he was proud of the fact. It was Miroku he was worried about.

"Ah, my friend, you have entered a new time in your life thta will be filled with much fun. I am proud."

"Wow, thanks, a congratulations from a perverted monk." He chuckled a little bit. "By the way, I'm not letting you leave this hut, if you spy on Kagome I swear I'll-"

"I know Inuyasha, she is yours and if I were to spy, you would likely rend me in two."

"Got that right."

"It is SANGO I wish to spy on, so-'

"SIT. DOWN."

Kagome sucked in a breath when she slid into the hot water of the hot spring. Sango and Shippo were already in while Kirara laid on a rock that was sticking out of the water. The hot temperature soothed her muscles which relaxed her. "Ah," she smiled. "A hot bath." She opened her brown eyes to have lighter brown ones staring back at her. "What?" The high school girl chuckled nervously.

"How did it go with Inuyasha?"

"Um, pretty well. I accepted his offer to mate with him."

Sango smiled and waved her hands in the water, feeling the ripples through her fingers. "I'm happy for you. I really am. Are you going to tell your family?"

"Yeah, I kind of have to. I'm not sure what my mom would say though."

"Are you nervous about being mates?" Miroku asked the half demon, who leaned back against the rock.

"Yeah, a little." he said softly. "Especially since that just makes her a bigger target for scum bags like Naraku and my brother. Means we have to be extra careful." he sighed. "I hope I didn't just ruin her life even more."

"Inuyasha," miroku said, getting serious for a moment. "Love is a very complicated thing. From love can come good times and bad times, but it's ultimately up to you and Kagome to see it through together, and if you love her as much as I think you do, then it should be easy."

He was silent, contemplating the monks words. "Yeha." he said with a nod. "Yeah...heh, makes me feel a little better."

"I am glad. As your friend, I do want the best. For both of you." he paused and chuckled. "You realize you must deal with her family."

"Ah crap." he gulped.

Sango watched as Shippo splashed around with a green floating device around his waist, ignoring them as he sucked on a lolipop. "Do you think your family would be angry?"

Kagome thought about it for a moment before she continued. "I honestly don't think so. I think they'd be shocked more than anything. Grandpa might be a little concerned. Souta would faint from happiness for having Inuyasha in the family." She chuckled and looked up at the girl who was basically her older sister. "And mom would be happy for us both."

Sango nodded and grabbed the shampoo bottle. "I am happy for you both as well. But are you a little scared?" Her dark brown eyes shot up at her. "Scared of what?" Sango shrugged and opened the bottle letting the smell of lilac and jasmine into the air.

"With you both being mates, that means anyone who has fought against Inuyasha knows that you are his weakness. Even before you both were together. Now with it being official, it makes you even more vulnerable."

"I'll protect her." He said suddenly, eyes opening. "I'll protect her, no matter what. Kill Naraku, kill my brother, and...well, she'll be safe."

"I understand your desire to protect her.' Miroku said. "And I assure you, me and Sango will help in any way. You're not alone in this after all. We are your friends, you need to remmeber this. You're not alone, you know."

An annoyed sigh, he crossed his arms. "Yeah, I know." he said. "I appreciate it I suppose. Just wish she didn't need to get mixed up all this chaotic demon shit. I still think that sometimes she'd be better off in her world than here."

He sighed a little bit and shook his head. "Inuyasha, you have this worry a lot, and despite the fact you never speak it aloud, I can almost always tell. She doesn't regret it, and if she wanted, she'd merely stay in her own time period and remain there, but she loves you and all the friends she's made in our era, and I don't think she regrets it."

"You know, when you're not being a lecher, you're really deep..." Inuyasha mumbled.

"I am a monk after all, it's my own job to help those who are having troubles of their own."

Kagome sat there looking down into the water for a moment, just thinking. Sango was right, if she wasn't such an easy target before, now it was worse. Her eyes slowly closed and opened again. "I trust Inuyasha to be there for me. To protect me. He's always done it before. But sometimes I wish I was able to protect myself too."

Sango's eyes softened a degree and she put some shampoo into her hand before running it through her hair. "If I can help in any way, Kagome, I would." Kagome nodded and took the shampoo bottle from her. "I think I'll just have to ask Kaede if she can help me with my miko powers. They'd be a big help for the next time we find Naraku."

Sango nodded and let out a 'mmhmm' while lathering her hair. It was then Kagome smirked and snatched the floating device Shippo was on and pulled him to her. "Time to wash your hair."

"What exactly is it you think the girls are doing?" Miroku said with a wistful sigh, his mind of course going to its favorite imagination spot. Inuyasha merely rolled his eyes, his ears twitching in annoyance.

"I'm sure they're doing what people tend to do when taking a bath: Relaxing. They're not doing anything lewd, you pervert." Least he hoped they weren't. Or...maybe he kinda hoped. Maybe it'd be hot. But then again, she was his mate-Oh god dammit, the monk was corrupting him further. "You know, maybe once you and Sango finally get hitched you'll finally stop being a lecher."

"Perhaps." Miroku said, his voice still 'gone'. "But that won't stop me from being HER lecher."

"Whatever gets you away from my Kagome." he said, shaking his head. Right now he was hoping Kagome would hurry up. Men didn't really...'bond'. They talked, and right now it was increasingly awkward. He liked Miroku, but...he wasn't the best conversationalist.

Shippo was then rinsed and dried off with a towel while Sango and Kagome rinsed the conditioner out of their hair. The kitsune bounced around with Kirara while the girls got dried off and dressed. Kagome put on a pair of pajamas while Sango put on her normal clothes. She always wanted to be prepared in case something were to happen.

After gathering up their bathing supplies, Kagome followed Sango to the hut where they were able to stay. The slayer entered first, seeing the dazed look on Miroku's face. At least he wasn't able to go and spy on them this time. Inuyasha seemed to have kept the perverted monk at bay for the night. Shippo was already half asleep in Kagome's arms when she walked into the hut behind Sango.

Inuyasha was thankful she arrived just in the nick of time. And hey, she was his mate after all, she had that...'calming' sense over his entire being now. Before he could say anything though, Miroku spoke first.

"Ah, girls, welcome back!" The ebony haired pervert said with an innocent smile on his face. "I trust you two had a nice, relaxing bath?"

"Don't worry," Inuyasha mumbled, "I made sure he didn't move a single muscle. He didn't see a damn thing."

Kagome looked over at Inuyasha and then to Miroku as she was setting Shippo down on her sleeping bag. "We did. And it was even better since Sango didn't have to keep an eye out for pervs." She eyed Miroku and Sango chuckled, sitting down between Miroku and Kagome.

"Yes, but since that has become somewhat of a ritual, it was a little weird not having to throw a boulder." She smirked, leaning against the wall with Kirara now in her lap. Kagome tucked the small fox demon into the warmth of her sleeping bag and brushed his damp hair from his eyes. "Has anyone heard anything about any rabbit demon?"

"Not a damn thing." Inuyasha mumbled. "Worse come to worse, I can probably just go out scouting for it on my own if I need to. Lord knows I'd probably be able to pick up the scent of a rabbit demon out of the other regular rodents out in the woods." He leaned back against the wall, looking out at the window up at the starry night.

"I suggest you get some sleep before we go on some we do anything like that," Miroku said. "Unless of course you and Lady Kagome would like to spend your night some other way?" He chuckled.

Kagome scowled and threw a bar of soap at Miroku. Sighing, she put the bathing things into her bag and grabbed a brush. Sitting down onto her bag, she made sure Shippo wasn't disturbed. "We don't really know if its a rabbit demon yet. What if its a lie or some different kind of demon?" She began to brush her hair. "I know Inuyasha's strong enough to take care of things on his own but I don't like the fact that you're going out there alone without anyone." She moved her eyes over to him while she continued her actions.

"It'd be easier if I go alone anyway." he said. "Find it, kill it, take the jewel shard, and we're out of here." He rose to his feet and cracked his neck a little bit. "'Sides, you guys need your rest, I could go a night or two without sleep." he grabbed the tetsusaiga and headed for the outside.

Kagome set her brush down and ran to get him. Before he could get too far outside, she ran into him and wrapped her arms around his front. She wasn't too worried. She knew how he was and the trouble he could get into and that's what worried her. But he was strong enough to conquer almost anything he could come across. "Be careful." She whispered.

He blinked and grunted a little in surprise as she pretty much threw herself at him. Blinking down at the arms wrapped around his waist, he put his sword down for a moment and grabbed one hand with his own, giving it a squeeze and a nod of his head. "I will." he said softly. "Promise." It felt good to have someone like her care about him, even if he were going to do something as trivial as going out and killing a minor demon for a piece of Jewel shard. Made him feel wanted.

She nodded against his back, her arms loosening around him. "Okay, good." Even though she wouldn't be able to get any sleep until he returned, she was still going to let him go. She loved him after all and she cared. Even when they weren't mates. And when he was hurt, she was pretty sure that if he did, she would feel it and they'd have to leave to find him. "I love you. Just be safe.."

"Love you too." he said as he fastened the Tetsusaiga to his clothing again, ensuring it wouldn't fall off. "And don't worry, I'll be back in no time." he said as he turned around and quickly gave her a kiss on the forehead. "I'll be back." And before anything else could be said, he had all ready dashed off into the woods for any strange scents or markings or anything that would lead him to his goal.

Kagome watched him leave and when he was too far out of her sight, she turned around and headed back into the hut. Letting out a deep breath, she smiled at Sango who gave her a small smile in return. "He'll be okay, Kagome. Inuyasha may be bull headed at times and he likes to rush into battle, but he knows what he's doing." Kagome nodded and picked up her brush again, sitting on her sleeping bag.

"Besides, I doubt there's a demon out there that could make INUYASHA of all people have any kind of trouble, outside of Naraku and Sesshomaru. We haven't heard of an attack from Naraku for the good part of a month, and Sesshomaru only comes after Inuyasha when he feels the need to kill him, and thankfully Jaken and Rin keep him busy for the most part." Miroku told her with a nod. "Try and relax, I'm sure he'll return in no time."
