In loving hate

Zenku closed his eyes as he started to sing. He was no Stanley, but his voice was nice. He felt a presence gazing upon him and he shivered. He reopened his eyes looking through he crowd for it's source. He saw a girl looking at him, her light green eyes meeting his own. He smiled at her through the light haze, continuing his song. "Wife and kids, household pet. Army green was no safe bet. The bullets streeeeeeeak to me.." He was in his zone, feeling every note as if it were a part of him, a part of his being.

Luna could tell that he was getting into his music and she smiled to herself as she watched him. When he opened his eyes and looked at her again, she smiled back at him, her eyes glittering as her smile reached them. Leaning against the bar, she began to hum along to his words and she tapped her foot against the rung of her chair. The young woman closed her eyes and she started to get into the music that he was playing, her fingers beginning to lightly tap the counter next to her.

Zenku smiled back at her as she closed her eyes. He turned on his amp, going into the chorus with a solid chord. The crowd was taken back, they had never had a performer like Zenku before. Played note after note, it was as if Jerry Cantrell himself was on the stage. He played like never before, truly into a sound he had never before experienced. Before he realized it, he reached the song's end. He opened his eyes to a drop jaw applauding crowd.

Luna remained sitting there with her eyes closed while listening to the music. However, by the time he finished the song, her eyes were open again as she watched him. Looking away from him again to look once more for someone to feed from, however she didn't see anyone that interested her. Once the song ended, she glanced at the musician while beginning to clap her hands along with the crowd, having enjoyed the performance.

Zenku bowed at the crowd, noticing he had the girl's attention again. He smiled, stepping off the stage as the next performer came up. He sat down, taking his original seat next to his guitar case again. He still felt great, never having played like that before. He was on a happy high, not wanting it to end soon. Putting away the Stratocaster, he scooted closer to her, looking at her green eyes with a soft smile. "Hey." He said, swing the guitar over his shoulder.

As he stepped off the stage, Luna smiled again and turned slightly in her seat while watching him return to his seat. Her small smile grew as he sat down, watching from the corner of her eye as he put his guitar away before scooting closer to her and she smiled a little wider before looking up at him as he spoke. "Hey." she said softly. "You were great up there. Do you play here often?" She brushed her bangs back from her face and gazed up into his eyes as she spoke to him.

Zenku blushed slightly. For the Gothic like clothes she wore, she was a very upbeat kind of person. As she asked the question, he blushed even further. "Um, thank you. This was actually my first time here. Though I do play guitar quite often." He smiled, asking for two Cokes. He took one and slid the other to her.

She softly giggled and smiled at him as he blushed, watching as he blushed a deeper red. "You're welcome." she said softly before nodding when he told her that it was his first time there. "It's my first time here as well." she told him. When he asked for two Cokes and slid one towards her, she looked at him before taking the Coke. "Thanks." she murmured. The girl was able to drink normal 'human' drinks but she had to be careful how much or else she could get sick.

"But don't take looks for granted." Zenku said, smiling that she took the drink. "Believe it or not, I'm actually part of a band." He took another drink, stopping to run a hand through his blonde hair. He was nervous, that's for sure, he was never good with women, so this was very...hard for him to actually do. He just hoped he didn't do something embarrassing.

Luna laughed softly and nodded. "Really? What's it called?" she asked him with a curious look on her face as she took another sip of her soda, a lock of her red and blonde hair falling in her eyes again. She could sense that he was nervous and she thought it was rather cute but she didn't say anything about it as she drank her soda slowly.

"Twisted Fang. We're a multi-genre band. But we focus more so on alternative and grunge." Zenku said. He smiled, drinking a little more of his Coke. He laughed as her bang fell over eye, thinking it was cute. "What about you? I've never seen a girl like you before." He smiled still, his face a deep red.

"Twisted Fang?" she echoed. "That's an interesting name for a band." Luna tilted her head slightly, some of her curls bouncing with the movement. As he asked about her, she shrugged slightly. "I usually go to those 'goth' hangouts." she said gently. "I just ended up here because I was trying to avoid someone. I felt like someone was following me. This is the first time I've been out alone in a while, so I'm a little on edge I suppose." She blushed just slightly with a small smile.

"You shouldn't have to be on edge. It's not like there's some unforeseen force hunting us all down. I mean, were just a couple of kids having a good time at a club." Zenku blushed a deep red. He realized how that could be taken, and was greatly flustered. "As in...just two people...er...not in a relationship. Because um...I just met you and...we couldn't be like that if we don't even know each others names..." He trailed off, feeling embarrassed.

Luna arched an eyebrow at the choice of words he used and she chuckled softly as he got flustered and embarrassed. "It's alright. I know what you mean." she said. "You meant couple as in the number, not a pairing." Her eyes glittered brightly with amusement and she smiled brightly. "I'm Luna, by the way." she said, introducing herself to him with another chuckle. Her own cheeks were reddening and she absently played with a lock of her curly hair, twirling it around one of her fingers.

He noticed her cheeks were blushing, smiling to himself. "I'm Zenku." He said, drinking more of the Coke. He felt warm, her presence welcome. He had never met a girl like her before and he constantly wondered why. "Well, you mist make you boyfriend very happy with a personality like yours." He said, drinking a little more.

Luna was in the middle of taking a drink when he spoke and she choked on her soda for a moment before putting it down and coughing. Reaching out, she grabbed a napkin and quickly cleaned up the bit of soda she'd spilled. "Oh goodness." she said while blushing even brighter and she shook her head. "I don't have a boyfriend. My brother's way too over protective. He usually chases away anyone interested."

Zenku laughed as she choked on the soda, quickly stopping as he felt awkward laughing at her. "I can see where he's coming from. My little sister, hunts them down. Just loves boys. But our mom won't have it, so she tries to use me as an excuse." He said smiling, getting another Coke for himself. "But she's a whole different breed, once you get to know her."

Luna blushed brightly when he laughed at her and she smiled sheepishly at him before giggling as she finished cleaning up the soda. As he spoke about his sister, she smiled gently and chuckled gently. "Mm, sounds like my dad." she said with a soft laugh. "My mother died when I was still young, so he has to act as both the mom and the dad." She laughed again and grinned. "He has no idea what to do when it comes to daughters. But he does his best."

"Wow." Zenku replied, briefly feeling sad. He had both parents, she only had one. He soon cheered back up. "Sounds like my mother. With dad at work, she keeps up out of trouble and keeps the house in order." He drank more of the Coke. He stopped to help her out with the mess, keeping himself from actually touching her. "But she's very supportive of me and my sister, she helped me get my guitars, each and every one."

Luna merely nodded slightly before smiling over at him. "She sounds wonderful." she said softly before blushing a little and she giggles softly. "So, where did you learn to play guitar? Like I said earlier, you're quite good. I'm almost jealous." The vampire played piano, liking the sound of the classical instrument. She had night classes on how to play and she'd been playing for years, having started when she was but a child.

Zenku smiled, glad that she wanted to know. "Well a friend and I wanted to be a band. Our parents were of two different views so we had to stay away from each other. He found an old drum kit and me a tossed fender jaguar. We played a few times just for fun." He knew what happened next so he switched it up. "His parents took him on a business trip. He died with them in a plane crash." The true story was well known in both communities, but Zenku had a name change and looks nothing like he did as a child, so he was safe.

Luna listened close to what he said about how he and a friend wanted to be in a band, smiling from behind her soda as she watched him. It was clear that she was paying close attention to what he said by the way she watched him curiously. However, as he told her that his friend died in a plane crash, a hint of saddness showed in her pale eyes. "I'm sorry about your friend." she told him gently while sitting her soda back down. "It's horrible to loose those close to you."

"Thank you. Because of him, I now have a better understanding of equality. It shouldn't matter what you are, as long as you are a good person. That's what matters." Zenku said, smiling warmly at her. "You know, unlike most of the girls I met, you seem to care about what I say. That's a nice quality. If you get your brother to calm down, I'm sure you'll find a good boyfriend." He drank more soda, sighing in content.

Luna's eyes widened a little as he spoke about equality and she smiled brightly. "That's what I keep telling my brother and father!" she says, obviously excited to meet someone else that thought the same way as her about equality. "They keep going on about how we shouldn't mingle with certain people, etcetera. It just confuses me so much. It shouldn't matter what our background is. What should matter is our actions and if we're good people." As she spoke, there was such strong passion in her voice that it made several people around them turn and look, most of them nodding before returning to their own conversations. As he pointed out about her caring about what he had to say, she smiled sheepishly before grinning. "Thanks." she said softly, almost shyly. "I like to listen to others because it's the polite thing to do. To just talk all the time... well... it makes people seem.... self absorbed and vain."

Zenku put his hand on her shoulder, smiling gently. He was being friendly, not trying to advance on her. "Please don't take this the wrong way. You're a special, unique, genuine girl. Any boy would be lucky to have you as their girlfriend. But I don't want to force myself on you. So. I'm sorry, but I must leave." His expression of happiness faded, becoming saddened. He didn't want to leave her, but he knew what would happen if she were around him. Grabbing his guitar, he walked towards the door.
