It was a warm night as a group of four staggered down the street, their whimsical laughter filling the air as two of the four held onto each other, another walked slightly off to the side to avoid the 'drunken' antics of the others. The fourth however, was several feet ahead, twirling slightly as she giggled. It was clear that they recently left a club or bar by the way they were dressed and the way they acted. The group was made up of three young men and a young woman.

"Don't get too far ahead Luna!" one of them called to the young woman who was twirling with a smile. Luna paused and looked back at the others with a bright smile. She was the more 'innocent' of the four, still finding beauty in everything she saw and always in awe of one thing or another. Her curly blonde streaked red hair bounced as she smiled at the others before giggling and hurrying forward again.

While the four looked like normal every day people, most would never guess that they were in fact vampires. They had just fed and were heading home. The two hanging off each other were twins named Jeff and Leon, looking exactly alike while the one that called after Luna the young womans older brother, Brutus.

A group of teens just finished a venue with a grand Cherub Rock cover. It was a little off, seeing as the vocalist, Renku, was a girl. But the crowd enjoyed the band, Twisted Fang, anyway, the band celebrating before they set off for home. Renku and her cousin Shi'la both were enjoying tequilas. The band's drummer, Shikotsu, enjoyed a more finer wine. But unlike the other three, the band's guitarist didn't drink. And that was Zenku, who enjoyed a Coke instead.

When they did finally leave, Zenku happily held up his band mates as they all sang in a drunken stupor. They traveled down the city sidewalk, tumbling over each other as they tried to reenact the events of their venue. When Shi'la jumped in front and tried to imitate Zenku's guitar solo, they fell over laughing. To the naked untrained eye, they were just a set of young adults enjoying another warm night. But if anyone knew better, they were all Lycanthrope easily verified by their tribal markings. Even so, they continued on their way, enjoying themselves and having a good time.

The group of vampires continued to stumble along down the road, one of them calling ahead to Luna who kept getting further and further ahead of her companions. She was dressed in a "Lolita" outfit of red and black silk and lace with a matching headband. The young woman knew it was rather cliche to dress like a classical vampire like seen in story books and magazines, but she loved the outfit. Meanwhile, her companions were all dressed in either leather pants or nice black slacks with a nice silk shirt and nice shoes. "Luna! Get back here!" Brutus called.

Luna turned to face him and laughed while waving and walking backwards. However, because she wasn't watching where she was going, she didn't notice that she was about to walk right into another group that was coming their way. Brutus however, did notice and his eye flashed red. "Luna! Watch out!" he called. With a dash, he rushed forward quickly and grabbed her before she could walk into anyone, quickly pulling her backwards. The twins Jeff and Leon quickly sobered up when they saw Brutus's reaction and they walked a little faster towards their companions. "You need to watch where you're going." he said softly while taking several steps back from the group. He saw their tribal markings and knew what they were, just like one glance at Brutus and the twins would give away what they were if a person knew what to look for.

Many goths tried to pull off the vampire look so it was hard to go by just pale skin and fangs. But no mere mortal could imitate the unnatural grace of a vampire and they couldn't copy the unnatural eye color. Brutus and the twins were easy to spot, but Luna it was a little harder. sure she had the grace, but since she was a little absent minded she sometimes stumbled and tripped. And while her eyes were usually a pale emerald green, she wore cosmetic contacts to change the color all the time. At the moment her eyes were a dark saphire blue.

Zenku had on a black sleeveless leather jacket, complete with shoulder studs and their tribal marking on the back. He looked down at his black jeans and converse, hoping they weren't too dirty. He held Renku up by her arm. "Come on you guys, let's get back before our parents freak." He said. "Especially you, Ren. Mom's already going to kill me since you're drunk." She nodded, then hopped onto his back. Which is why he didn't notice when he almost ran into the vampire.

Shikotsu as the most experienced, stepped in front. He was a fighter and picking up the scent, quickly snapped out of his good mood. Shi'la quickly did the same, standing next to her brother. "Just what are you doing, blood suckers?" He growled, clenching his fists. Zenku put a hand on his shoulder. "Not tonight." He pleaded, already tired and exhausted. The last thing he needed was a fight.

Luna turned around in her brothers arms, gazing up at the others through her bangs. She looked at the group of lycans while backing into her sibling. As the one lycan growled at them and clenched his fists, Brutus quickly pushed Luna behind him while Leon moved to stand next to him and Jeff grabbed Luna into his arms, the three young men taking a defensive stance between the lycans and the youngest vampire of their group. "What's it to you mutt?" Leon hissed and Brutus grunted while flexing his fingers, the sounds of his knuckles cracking filling the air.

"Brutus... Leon.. Not tonight. Not with her here." Jeff quickly said, not wanting to endanger his close friend. Luna wasn't a fighter, so if they did get into a fight, it would be them protecting Luna from the lycans. Brutus looked thoughtful before shrugging. "You're right. Besides, we have better things to do then to stoop to their level of fighting on the streets like a pack of wild dogs." Luna looked on fearfully while gripping Jeffs shirt. "P-please Brutus... take me home." she pleaded softly

Shi'la stepped in, standing up for her brother. "At least we 'mutts' don't have to worry about sunlight." Zenku pinched the bridge of his nose. "Shi'la. Don't, not tonight. You're all drunk anyway." Renku had fallen asleep on his back, proof of his point. Reluctantly, they both stood down, walking past them. "We could have taken them." Shikotsu retorted through clenched teeth. Zenku sighed, adjusting Renku on his back. "But Renku's still young. It'd be bad for her if she did fight them now, you know this more than anyone."

Shi'la and Shikotsu parted, heading elsewhere. Alone with his sister, Zenku began the long walk home. It usually wouldn't take too long, but with Renku asleep, he couldn't change. He didn't want to wake her, not yet anyway. Looking up to the sky, he thought about the run-in with the vampires. It wasn't the first for him, he had fought them plenty of times before. But for the first time he didn't have to fight. He smiled to himself, enjoying the rather peaceful night.

Leon scoffed at the mention of worrying about sunlight. "A minor set back. Besides, it's more fun at night." he replied with a sneer. "At least we don't have to worry about silver." As he spoke, he dangled a silver pendant tauntingly at the girl while snickering. The two groups each had things to be careful of. While the lycans had things like silver and wolfsbane, the vampires were wary of the sun and sharp, pointy things like steaks and knives. Things like crosses didn't really bother them. Many didn't enjoy looking at crosses because they'd given up on believing in Crist. There were a couple of other things that bothered them, but nothing truly deadly. After all, most tales about vampires were just that, stories.

As the lycan moved past them, the three male vampires moved, making sure to keep Luna guarded. Leon hissed at Shikotsu but he didn't move while watching the group pass them before the vampires moved Luna back to the front of the group and continuing along their path. "I hate those dogs." Leon grumbled. "Acting as if they're better then us just because they can go out into the sunlight." Brutus sighed as he wrapped an arm around Luna's shoulders while leading her towards their home. He was used to listening to his friends rants about how much he hated lycans.

Zenku was about halfway home when he realized he forgot something at the club they played at. It was his flame-print Gibson SG guitar. Torn between just leaving the guitar and leaving his sister, he grit is teeth. Quickly, he turned around, running for the club, Renku sound asleep. "Please be there." He muttered under his breath. It was his favorite, and rather rare, guitar. He only used it for special occasions, it was so rare. He saw the city in the distance and picked up pace.

Zenku sighed in relief as the manager handed him the case for his guitar. "That's a special piece. Take good care of it son." He said with a grin. Zenku nodded, slinging it over his shoulder. Renku, who was leaning against a counter, finally woke. "Are we home?" She asked, rubbing her eyes. He shook his head taking her hand and walking her out. She leaned into him, using her brother for support. Zenku smiled, rubbing her hair. She complained, as usual, and they both started to laugh. "Be careful, Ren. We still have a lot of walking to do." This of course led to more whining from Renku.

The vampires walked in silence, their joyous mood completely ruined by the run in with the lycans. When they came to Jeff and Leons house, they stopped outside and looked up at it. "Looks like this is our stop." Jeff said with a smile. "Don't worry about those lycans." he told Luna before kissing her on the forehead. "We haven't lost a fight with them yet." With a smile and a wave goodbye, him and his brother head inside, leaving Luna with Brutus. Wrapping his arm around Luna, Brutus sighed. "I'm sorry you had to be part of that run in with the.. lycans." he said, trying hard not to say anything rude or uncouth.

Looking up at him, Luna smiled gently. "It's alright Brutus. It would of happened eventually." she said gently as they walked towards their home. "I'm just glad you and Leon didn't get into a fight. And I'm glad I wasn't alone." Patting his arm, they fell into a comfortable silence. While she walked, Luna thought about the lycans and their run in with them, thinking about the one that kept his group from fighting. She'd never heard of a lycan that stopped a fight with vampires before it could even get started.

Zenku smiled to himself, genuinely glad he didn't have to fight. Unlike Shikotsu, the next alpha, he wasn't a violent Lycan. That's why he formed the band, to avoid having to train as much. He was still a great fighter, but it just wasn't his thing. Renku yawned, tugging at her skirt as they turned a corner. "I smell something." She muttered, "It's kind of sour." He picked it up to, turning to see the vampires from earlier.

Zenku was determined to avoid contact at any cost. "Come on." He muttered, urging her to follow. She did, but never took her eyes off the larger vampire. "He scares me." She whispered, clinging to his arm. "Don't worry, we won't have to fight them." Zenku said with a soft smile. "Unless they threaten us, which I doubt." He picked her up, resting her on his back. He walked faster, hoping they wouldn't be noticed. His smile faded, becoming more serious.

Luna wrapped her arms around her as she walked with her brother, leaning into his side as they walked together. She was tired and since it was getting late, they had to get home soon before the sun came up. As they walked however, Brutus spotted two of the Lycans from earlier and Luna felt him tense and his arm tightened around her, making her look up from the ground. Looking up ahead, she saw the lycans and she sighed. Brutus's eyes flashed red as he narrows his eyes and stares down the lycans as they get closer.

"Brutus... don't make any problems." she told him as they got closer, wincing as his hand gripped her shoulder tightly. She knew that her brother had a particular dislike for lycans after a human girl he'd liked ended up being turned into a lycan. Though even before that he'd always had a deep hate for them, though he'd never explained why. "Why shouldn't I?" he asked her. "They won't be so tough." Luna rolled her eyes and elbowed him sharply. "Because you're without the twins as well and I don't think they want to fight either."

Zenku's hearing picked up the conversation, walking at a brisk pace. He had hoped to avoid their attention entirely, but he knew he was asking for too much. He hoped the female vampire had won the argument, she seemed like it for now. Renku stirred on his back, muttering Shikotsu's name. He rolled his eyes, thinking this wasn't the time for her to be thinking of her crush. He smiled lightly at the two, turning back to continue on home.

(Sorry if I'm too short)

(It's alright. As long as it doesn't end up being a one liner I'm fine.)

After tugging Brutus along rather forcefully, Luna sighed as he began leading her again. "I really wish yu would tell me why you hate Lycans so much." she said with anther sigh. The older vampire just grumbled to himself as he led her down the street towards their home where he knew their father would be waiting to make sure they got home safely. Seeing the house up ahead, he lead her up to it before opening the door and ushering her inside. "I'm heading to bed Brutus." she said before trudging upstairs to her bedroom.

Zenku continued walking, hoping he wasn't still being followed. He risked it, looking over his shoulder to see where they were heading. They were close, but they seemed to he home. "Perfect." He muttered to himself, smiling slightly as he adjusted his sister. Renku stirred again, more talk of Shikotsu. He sighed, putting her down on a park bench as he pulled out his guitar. He ran a hand across the finish, made to look like fire with actual grooves in the body. The neck was the same, giving it a special quality of sound.

He quickly put the guitar away, not wanting to damage it. He let Renku sleep a few moments before waking her up. She was upset, bit glad she hadn't left him yet. They soon arrived home, where Zenku was chewed out. He for it for Renku being drunk, coming home late, and for the confrontation they had, though the last wasn't his fault at all. He signed hopping into his bed. He pulled the guitar back out and began to practice.

Up in her room, Luna closed and locked the door before going to the windows and making sure they were covered by the thick drapes before she began changing. The young woman didn't drink alcohol, but since she had fed while in a bar, she was feeling the buzz of alcohol from the person she'd fed from. While many vampires these days either fed from animals or got their blood from special blood banks, Luna and her fathers 'clan', as the vampire groups were called, still fed from humans. As she undressed, she tossed the clothing into the hamper in the corner before she looked at herself in the mirror, running her fingers over a set of scars that mared her otherwise flawlessly pale skin. She knew the path of the scars by heart, knowing that they started at the back of her ribs and came around towards the front, stopping a couple inches from her belly button.

Luckily the scars didn't leave indents in her skin and muscle. All they were, were long silvery jagged lines. When she was young she had been attacked by a wild lycan. She personally didn't remember the attack, but her family did and that's what made them so protective of her. She was the 'baby' of the group and after she'd almost died from the attack, the whole clan got more protective. After all, she was the only daughter of the leader. With a sigh, she turned slightly and looked at the tattoo that was on her shoulder blade. When every vampire of her clan came of age, they got the emblem tattooed somewhere on their person. She chose her shoulder blade. The emblem was a rose entwined around a dagger. Reaching over her shoulder, she touched it before smiling to herself and running her fingers through her hair. With one last sigh, she turned and moved towards the bed, wanting some sleep.

Zenku continued to play, his fingers dancing across the ebony wooden neck. He wasn't a high quality guitarist. If anyone really noticed, he was all bar chords and simple Platonic scales and hamme-ons. But he played beautifully, like and artist paints a masterpiece. He became entranced in his strumming, thinking back to earlier. The three boys scared him a little, at that size, he'd probably be toast.

Then thought back to the girl. She was smaller, and seemed a lot kinder. She reminded him of an old friend, before he was killed. It was before he knew what he was. Before his life was full of hatred and ancient bitter rivalry. His name was Nathan, a vampire when he was a mere child. Their parents had kept then away, and they started to sneak out. One night a group of vampires caught them both, thinking they were human. His guitar playing became more intense as he thought back. They were going to kill Zenku as a warning to the lycans. Luckily his parents had found him in the nick of time. But his friend had died as well. He told Zenku his dream: to be a musician for a famous band. He stopped playing, he dared not go any further. He put up the guitar, getting into his bed to fall asleep.

Luna slowly climbed into her bed and began to draw the curtains around it when she paused and looked at the window before sighing and finishing to pull the curtains of her bed closed. They were for extra protection just in case the drapes over the windows didn't block all the sunlight. She slid down in her bed and pulled the covers up around her. The girl wasn't looking forward to the next night. It was usually the same as every other night. But hopefully... maybe she'd be able to convince her father and brother to let her go out on her own. It didn't take the vampire too long before she was fast asleep and oblivious to the world around her.

It was around six o'clock when Zenku woke that evening. His mother out of pity let him sleep so long, a smile on her face as he came downstairs. He waved then left out the front door, guitar on his back. Today he had a Fender Stratocaster Sunburst. He only used it for solo gigs and practice, this time being practice. He walked up the dirt road, looking at the city landscape from a distance. It was beautiful, even though it was man made. By the time he was in the city, the sun had almost finished setting, stars appearing in the night sky.

It was late in the evening when Luna began to wake up. As she laid there in her bed, she could hear the faint sounds of others moving around the house. With a sigh she got up and began getting ready for the night. At first she was going to go for her usual red and black clothing but she chose a different color to wear. She pulled out a white and pale mint-green dress with a silver necklace on which an onyx and silver amulet hung between her breasts, a cross engraved in the black stone. Once dressed with her hair pulled up, she head downstairs. For at least half an hour she argued with her father and brother before being allowed to go out alone, as long as she carried a weapon. A small knife made of silver was hidden in her boot. With a sigh, she head out towards the city to feed.

Zenku heard of a small local place where he could play without having any skill. Like a poetry club, but for musicians. He figured out how to get there and went, a smile on his face as he could now see all the stars in th night sky. It was beautiful, especially since the city wasn't heavily polluted. Heading into the club, he signed up on a wall. He was one of the first, which was fine with him. While he waited, he went to the bar and grabbed a Coke. Popping the cap, he drank the sweet and stingy liquid.

As she walked in silence, Luna felt like she was being followed, but when she looked she didn't see anyone. With a sigh, she shook her head and walked a little faster. As she got further into the city, the feeling got strong before she ducked into a club and she heard music playing. Looking around, she saw a musician playing up on the stage and she sighed as she moved through the club, glad that the feeling ended after she entered the club. Moving to the bar, she sat down and turned to listen to the music. While she listened to the music, she scanned the crowd for a possible meal before sighing.

Zenku had downed half the Coke, smiling to himself as the following guitarist played a Black Sabbath "Paranoid" cover. He pulled out his Stratocaster, dusty from not being used in awhile. He took a cloth towel, delicately going over the neck and body. As he swept over the pickups, he noticed a new presence coming in. He looked up to see a nice looking girl coming in and taking a seat. He looked at her carefully, not trying to look like a stalker. After the guitar was cleaned, he listened to it as he tuned it for his liking. He wanted it just right, a desire to impress this girl before him, rising.

Luna sat there with her hands folded in her lap while she absently swung her legs. The girl looked a little out of place amongst the others, her pale green and off white dress making her stick out like a sore thumb, but at the same time she seemed to blend in with her surroundings. That was one ability she'd gained from her father. She was able to make normal humans just look her over if she wished it. However, the power didn't work on other 'supernatural' beings and hunters. If it worked on hunters, she'd be able to avoid them all the time, but since it didn't she always had to be on her guard. Looking around again, she brushed some of her curls out of her face while listening to the guitarist play. Even though this type of club wasn't exactly her kind of 'scene', Luna found herself enjoying it. Usually she went to the more 'goth' clubs where others that dressed like her hung out.

Zenku noticed the girl wore a more Gothic outfit. It wasn't surprising, it was one of the new hit things that kids were doing now. However, that presence drew him closer, like he had met her before. He shrugged it off, he was always thinking of strange things. Especially before a performance. Nervously he drank more Coke, asking for a second bottle. He couldn't get drunk, but he still felt a little dizzy, another sign of being nervous. Soon it was his turn, rising up and walking to the stage. He looked at the crowd and noticed the girl again, but he still could not see her face. "Hello everyone. I'm going to be doing a cover of 'Rooster' by Alice in Chains." The crowd applauded until he began softly strumming the chords.

Luna felt someone's gaze upon her but this time it was different from when she was walking down the street. Looking around again, her gaze swept the room but she couldn't seem to pinpoint where the gaze was coming from. That night she opted to go for her naturally light green eyes instead of wearing contacts to change the color. Looking once more at the stage, she noticed a different artist getting up and she tilted her head slightly and she watched him. He looked familiar, as if she'd seen him before but she didn't know where. As he spoke, she became a little more intrigued before her attention was drawn by a fledgling childe of another clan who came up to her. Narrowing her eyes as the other vampire came up behind her, she reached out and grabbed their wrist as they reached out to touch her before she turned to face the male vampire. "You should know better fledgling." she whispered, her eyes flashing for a moment. "Now go."

He nodded and rushed off, leaving the girl alone. The confrontation with the other vampire didn't phase her. Being part of the Toreador clan meant that things like that weren't uncommon. Her fathers clan were known for their beauty, grace and glamour, seeing as they acted and looked so much like the humans they adored. They were artists and loved beautiful things. So others were naturally drawn to them. With a shake of her head, she turned her attention back to the man on stage and listened to him play, her pale piercing gaze seeming to cut through the light haze in the room as she stared into his eyes.
