Batgirl Begins (dbspock/WendyTheRed)

The kiss was not at all what Jim Gordon had been expecting when Babs took a seat on his lap. He was a bit sorry Chloe hadn't gotten it on camera, but he was more grateful this was a private moment between them. "Not really no." Jim chuckled softly when she said he knew how teenagers were. The only one he ever dealt with on a regular basis was Chloe, and he'd never tried to tickle her. Then of course there were the criminals who got hauled into the precinct, but he didn't want to compare Babs to them. he was more than happy to return the hug and smiled at her wink, more than relieved at how well the night seemed to be going, before he rose as well and walked with Babs to the kitchen.

Neither of them seemed to notice Babs emotional reaction to Chloe's familiarity with Jim's kitchen. As they both sat down, Chloe slid a plate with two slices of pizza on it in front of each of them before serving herself. "The Captain's drink is in the Captain's glass." Chloe chuckled lightly, and Jim clearly had been around Chloe enough to have enough familiarity with Star Trek to select the Captain Kirk glass with his coke without further prompting. "And Mr. Spock for you." Chloe teased Babs, as a call back to their earlier conversation, though it really didn't matter which cup Babs picked as they both contained root beer.

"We shall." Jim responded to Babs once everyone had taken their seats and got food and drink. He then set the example by placing a large bite of pizza in his mouth,

Barbara smiled and took her cup but only after holding her fingers up in the Vulcan salute while giving Chloe a grin. She took a long sip from her cup and then glanced at Chloe's glass, curious what she chose for herself. She reached for her pizza and bit her lip when her stomach let out a loud growl. She shrugged a little. "I already told Chloe this but this is my first meal today. I didn't really plan my trip her very well. Lesson learned." She bit into the pizza and let out a sigh of pleasure, her eyes almost rolling into the back of her head. "Oh my god. You have no idea how good pizza tastes when you're starving..."

Barbara was quiet while she almost inhaled that first slice. She looked a bit embarrassed once she finished and she slowed down to a more ladylike speed as she started on her second slice but not before taking a long sip of her root beer. She looked at the other two, her mind racing as she turned her attention to thinking about the project she had discussed with Chloe. She ate slowly, sort of staring at nothing as she began to plan what all she would need to make it a success and she frowned suddenly as she realized a flaw in her plan. "Hmmm...to demonstrate the project I have in mind to Mister Wayne, I need a laptop. Dad, do you know anyone we can borrow one from?" She looked at Chloe. "Is your computer you said I could use a laptop by any chance?"

Chloe kept her face impassive as she returned the Vulcan salute. Jim rolled his eyes a bit. "Another one." He said softly, but Chloe couldn't hide her smile anymore as Jim returned the gesture as well. Chloe had picked Commander Scott for her glass of Root Beer and she took a healthy swig of the liquid before starting on her own pizza, though she couldn't help giggling again when she heard Babs stomach growl. Jim raised his eyebrow a bit when Babs mentioned it was her first meal. They could have stopped for something on the way home, but he simply hadn't thought of it and he looked down at the plate a bit guiltily. He wasn't used to having to be concerned about others, something that would have to change now. "I have a good idea." Jim replied with a slight chuckle. "This is a cops staple food on stakeouts."

If either noticed how rapidly Babs ate her first slice of pizza, neither commented on it. Both seemed intent on their own meals until Babs spoke again. Jim blinked at her when she asked about a laptop...he had one he used for work, but he couldn't allow a civilian, even his daughter, access to it. he stared at her blankly for a few moments as he tried to think of a source for a laptop, knowing full well he couldn't buy her one outright, when Chloe jumped in. "That wasn't the one I was thinking of." Chloe admitted. "I do have a couple of laptops, but they are so old and slow that I think you'd be frustrated trying to use them. But we could set your program up on the set up I have at home, then use a VPN and a remote desktop to demonstrate your program. I've done it a few times, and it works fine." Chloe suggested while Jim looked between the two of them blankly.

"You aren't going to start speaking Klingon now, are you?" He teased them, then looked at Babs. "What project is that?" He asked curiously. Last he heard, she was just going to give him a resume.

Barbara smirked as her dad rolled his eyes but couldn't help her grin when he returned it. She out on a pretend vapid look and spoke in a slightly higher voice as she twirled a lock of her around her finger. "Like...God dad. I only do that stuff because this hot jock thought nerds were sexy. I can't wait to drop all that and get my tube tops and miniskirts again!"

She waited for her dad's reaction before bursting into giggles. She turned her attention to Chloe when the subject of laptops came up and listened to her solution. "That might work. If worst comes to worst I can make a PowerPoint presentation with some screenshots of my program and just hope he doesn't think it's all photoshop or something."

"Oh well I wanted to be able to show Mister Wayne my skills to increase the chances of getting the internship if he had time for a short demo. Even if he doesn't I'm hoping he'll appreciate the initiative at least!" She told her dad, hoping he'd see the logic in it and also not pry into what the program was.

"wai...wha..." Jim looked at his daughter with a look of absolute shock on his face when she went into her vapid routine. Even Chloe got a look on her face somewhere between surprised and aghast at what Babs had just said about tube tops...she hadn't seen that coming at all. The shock on Chloe's face soon turned to relief as her new friend began to giggle, then Chloe joined in. It took Jim a few moments of glancing between the two of them before he realized he'd just been had, and he had totally fallen for it. "You two make a bad combination." He complained, feeling a bit outnumbered in his own house.

Chloe nodded at Babs suggestion about a power point. "It might be a good idea anyway, just in case we aren't allowed access to the Manor wi-fi." Chloe pointed out, unsure if they could hack in or not given the firewalls the richest man in town probably had in place. And even if they could, while that might impress Mr. Wayne, he was just as likely to have them arrested as give them a job. "And even if he does think its photoshop, hopefully he'll listen enough to let us prove it."

"Short being the operative term. Mr. Wayne is a very busy man, and while I might be able to get you to meet him, you won't have much time." Jim warned her, and he didn't ask for details about her program, confident he wouldn't understand what she was talking about anyway.

She was a bit surprised how well her little joke had gone. She grinned at the two of them and patted her dad's forearm. "You love it. You better hope we don't decide to give your little house here a lady's touch and redecorate."

She nodded to Chloes reply about the wi-fi and power point. She winked at her dad. "Well I do know someone who is in security it seems." She leaned back in her chair and listened to his warning about Mister Wayne's time.

"Yeah true but who knows. This is a charity gala right? Maybe he'll be tired or all the fake schmoozing stuff and welcome a short break from it. Regardless I'll practice my presentation and set myself a 5 minute timer. If I get more time than that I won't complain though!"

As far as Jim was concerned, the house already had a bit of a ladies touch as Chloe had rearranged his decor several years ago. And since Babs was taking over his study, meaning he'd have to find a new place to work from home, she was already responsible for redecorating. But he didn't want to point that out and make her feel bad, so he just squeezed her arm in return. "I could think of worse things." Jim replied with a slight shake of his head.

He shook his head again at her implication he could get his daughter on Wayne's wi-fi. "Physical security. Not wi-fi." He pointed out, afraid Babs was getting her hopes too high. "And Mr. Wayne loves the fake schmoozing, as you call it. Five minutes may be a bit long." He warned her, but he could see how important this was to her and nodded as he came up with an idea. "His assistant, however, does NOT enjoy these types of events. She'd probably be happy to talk to you rather than a politician. If you can convince her...then she could probably convince Wayne to give you a few minutes of his time." Jim said with a shrug as Chloe jumped up and began offering everyone refills on their drinks.

She smiled at his reassuring reply about her tease about redecorating. She nodded a long thoughtfully as the conversation transitioned to talking about what might happen at the Gala and Wayne's potential short attention span. "Hmmm well I could try for less but we'll see how it goes. I don't want to be talking like an auctioneer after all."

She looked thoughtful as he proposed using the assistant as a way to get Wayne's attention and tapped her finger on the table, biting her lip as she imagined the possibilities. The problem was, she knew very little about this assistant. Would she even care, is she little more than a way for Wayne to filter out undesirables? Would she understand what Barbara would try to show her? "Hmmm...I can work with that. What can you tell me about this assistant? The more I know the better."

She smiled at Chloe. "I'll take some root beer I guess." She briefly checked her phone to see what time it is as their conversations continue.

Jim chuckled softly. "I don't know. Talking like an auctioneer might impress him." Jim chuckled, then opened his mouth to start talking about Wayne's assistant when Babs asked before abruptly shutting his mouth again. He knew quite a bit about her, perhaps more than Wayne realized, as he'd done a background check on everyone on Wayne's staff after being assigned the Wayne security detail, but that information was not public knowledge and he probably shouldn't be talking about it, even to his daughter. But there were some things that were a matter of public record and he hadn't been told in confidence, so he took a moment to separate the two in his mind.

"Her name is Sara Lance." Jim began, and he nodded when Chloe's eyes lit up with recognition. "Yes, that Sara Lance. The one who took out Deadshot when he tried to..." Jim trailed off for a bit. THAT part wasn't in the papers. "Well, she's an accomplished martial artist, for one." Jim said. Sara had declined any interviews, but her flipping Deadshot over her shoulder had made the news. "And you have something in common." Jim suddenly remembered. "She's the daughter of a police Captain as well. She's a good dancer." Jim had danced with her once. He also found her quite attractive, but Babs didn't need to know that part. "her official title is personal head of security for Mr. Wayne, but she works quite closely with Alfred, so her unofficial duties encompass a bit more." Jim shrugged, not sure what else Babs would want to know, or what he could share.

Chloe smiled happily and poured her new friend some more pop, but Jim noticed her glance at her watch. "Getting tired?" He asked sympathetically. Babs had been through...a hell of a lot today, to put it mildly, so it wasn't surprising it might be catching up with her.

Barbara was an observant and intelligent girl, well, at when she was focused and she was quite focused right now. She was determined to impress Wayne if only to get a good job that she could use to make things easier on her dad. So, when he hesitated she studied his face and realized he was about to filter whatever he said to her and that peaked her interest.

She looked between him and Chloe, noticing that Chloe seemed to know more about this Sara Lance than she did. She did remember hearing about a woman who won a fight against Deadshot. To her memory she was a blond woman and she'd seen her stepdad watching some news program where they argued about whether she'd really done it or Deadshot had simply let her win or maybe was badly wounded and no one knew it. She raised her eyebrows when he said they had something in common and smirked when he said it was being the daughters of police captains. "And here I thought you were going to say martial arts training since I have taken some classes and hope to take more here in Gotham. A lot more. I need to defend myself better should something like today happen again." She mentally added that to the list of things to look into over the next few days.

Like any teenage girl would, when her father mentioned that Sara was a good dancer she leaned in, her eyes boring into him and she arched a playful eyebrow. "And how would you know how good of a dancer she is?" She grinned then nodded to the rest of the information he provided. "When you said assistant, I imagined something like a receptionist who takes his calls and screens people he doesn't want to talk to. Why would his chief of security talk to me about my resume and attempts to get hired at Waynetech?"

She shook her head at his question about getting tired but her body betrayed her as she let out a long yawn. "Sorry. Maybe a little though I have so much on my mind I might not sleep for awhile yet..."

Jim could be a quite focused individual as well, not to mention a guarded one. Except unlike his daughter, who seemed to have a natural aptitude, his was more of a learned skill he brought to the job, and he subconsciously turned it off in the safety of his home. Not to mention the fact he had his guard down around the two teens, so his face was betraying more of his thought process than it did when he was interrogating someone.

Chloe, for her part, was no slouch in the observance department either, and she caught Babs glance at her flicker of recognition. "I can show you the article later." The blonde promised.

Jim raised his eyebrow a bit when Babs mentioned martial arts training. "I didn't know that." He said ruefully, wondering what else there was about his daughter's life he was ignorant of. Sure, he knew she could break a Ghost Dragons nose, but that could have been more instinct than training. But he couldn't help but nod at her desire to sharpen her skills, though he also couldn't help but wonder how much it would cost. "I have a few moves I could teach you." Jim offered. Between the Marines, Police Academy, and years on the street he could hold his own in a fight. "And there are a few dojos around town. I've heard some good things about this Cobra Kai karate dojo." Jim offered with a shrug.

"What?" Jim looked at Babs with a touch of confusion when she suddenly leaned in, then chuckled softly at her implication. "Because we danced once while discussing the security arrangements. Wayne's idea, not mine." Jim told her...though of course he hadn't minded at all. He then shook his head. "Yes, he has one of those as well, but Marcie probably won't be at the gala. She mostly handles office work. Sara would want to talk with you because she doesn't know you, or why you'd want to talk to Mr. Wayne. She screens his interactions, not his calls, and if you don't get on her good side, you'll be lucky to get 30 seconds with Mr. Wayne."

"Uh huh." Jim chuckled as he saw her yawn, then pushed back from the table. "I can clean up." He told Chloe, who had begun to gather the dirty dishes. He then looked at Babs. "If you lay down, you'd be surprised how your brain can shut off sometimes." He told her, hoping she had inherited that skill from him. He then reached out and put a hand on her shoulder. "Come on...I'll tuck you in." He promised with a chuckle.

Barbara nodded her thanks to Chloe already realizing that they were a natural team and thinking it might not be long before the two of them were able to communicate with little more than gestures and glances. She smiled a bit at the thought while she looked at Chloe but then returned her attention back to her dad.

She heard the sad edge to her father's voice after she mentioned martial arts training and smiled softly. "We both have catching up to do dad. And I promise, unless things go wrong with mom, we'll have the time. I want to hear about your life just like you want to hear about mine." She nodded eagerly when he offered to teach her some moves and nodded at the name of the dojo, making a mental note of it. "I'll look into it, maybe I can negotiate a way to lower whatever they charge and if not, I'll wait to sign up until I have some income of my own." She gave him a playful frown. "Judging by this house Police Captains don't earn much." She suddenly realized how that came out and looked ashamed. "I'm sorry, I was just teasing you. That stuff doesn't matter to me and I'm going to help you as much as I can..."

Barbara nodded as her dad explained the situation to her. She had little doubt it was the truth but she couldn't resist teasing him a bit about it. "Well, maybe when I meet with her I can see how she feels about my dad. I mean, after all, you are on a first name basis with her." She grinned and took a sip of her root beer. "But it makes sense she'd want to screen me. I doubt your daughter is a big concern to her compared to someone like Deadshot." She paused, looking thoughtful as an idea occurred to her. "Accomplished martial artist huh. Maybe if things go extremely well I can ask her to show me some of her moves..."

She smiled as she watched him go into dad mode about how tired she was. A lot of times she could go right to sleep but some nights her mind raced and kept her up even if her body begged for sleep and she wondered if tonight would be such a night. When he mentioned tucking her in she wondered about the arrangements. "Am I staying here then and not with Chloe tonight? You seemed to think it'd be a bit easier for this first night if I did when I asked. Or are you coming to her house to tuck me in?" She smirked slightly as she imagined how awkward he'd probably find that.

Chloe grinned back at Babs, though she thought the smile was in thanks for offering to show her the article and not int he hopes of some future code they might work out between them.

"Things won't go wrong with your mother." Jim told her flatly, and the edge in his voice caused Chloe to pick up the dishes and turn to the sink, despite Jim's earlier request to leave them. This seemed to be a private family matter and she didn't want to eavesdrop. "I won't let it." Jim hadn't had a choice last time Babs left, and he wasn't going to let that happen again. "But I'm afraid you got the bad end of that deal. There's not much to tell about my life." Chloe snorted a bit at that, but she quickly busied herself putting the leftovers in the fridge in the hopes no one would notice. He grinned when she agreed to let him teach her some moves, though it faded a bit when, once again, the conversation turned to money. "Well, I know they offer scholarships to promising students." Jim said with a shrug. "Sensei Silver is adamant about making sure gifted students have an opportunity to train. In fact, he'll probably be at the gala. Maybe you can talk to him as well." Jim offered, then at her comment about the looks of the place he felt like she'd stuck a knife into his heart and twisted it. Yeah, the place was small and some of the furniture was older than Babs, but it served his purposes well. Or at least it had until he found out someone else was living here. But Babs seemed to catch his reaction and apologized before he could say anything except..."I wish you didn't have to." he said softly. He wished he could provide everything Babs needed with the snap of his fingers, but Gotham didn't work like that...unless he wanted to take the Penguin up on his offer, and that WAS NOT AN OPTION.

"You'll see she feels like your dad is an old man who is nowhere near her league." Jim said with a shake of his head. Having a daughter around was going to be an...interesting experience, for sure. Chloe never teased him like this. "And the first name thing was Wayne's idea, not hers." He got the feeling Wayne had been teasing Sara then, the same way Babs was teasing him. "And no...at most, she'd think you are just going to waste her boss's time, not kill him." He shrugged at her next statement. "Wouldn't hurt to ask, I guess. Unless she decides to throw you across the room or something."

"It probably would be easier if you slept at Chloe's tonight...if she has a place." Chloe peeked up from behind the fridge door and nodded eagerly. "So I can come over and make sure your settled, then tuck you both in." Jim chuckled.

She smiled as he seemed to be very confident things would work out with her mother. Truthfully, she was too. She didn't think her mother would fight that hard, especially if her dad brought up the stuff with her step-dad. She blinked as a thought occurred to her. "If she fights you hard bring up how you were denied parental rights and that if I am going to live here she might owe you child support. She'd probably sign me over without a fuss to avoid that kind of trouble. Especially if that lawyer you mentioned is able to send some kind of official document to her." She shrugged casually, clearly having no problems thinking of ways to essentially blackmail her mother so she could stay here.

She snorted at his reply about his life being boring and shook her head. "You're a Captain in the GCPD. I know you have exciting stories to tell." She smiled and, her tone turned serious. "I also know you won't, or can't, tell me a lot of them. It's ok dad." She listened to his comment about the dojo and nodded, the look in her eyes one that he'd come to recognize if he didn't already. The girl had another mission now, find a way to meet Sensei Silver and impress him enough to give her a scholarship.

She placed a hand on his arm when he seemed a little down about the house and about her earning a job. She looked into his eyes as she spoke, she wanted him to see how serious she was. "Don't feel bad. I just showed up on your doorstep with no warning. And I want to help. I want to earn my keep. You're protecting me from a bad situation back in Chicago and I'm getting a chance to start over. It's going to be us Gordons against Gotham, they won't know what hit them."

She kept her face impassive when he mentioned coming over to tuck them in and saw a chance to get one more tease in on both of them before things began to wrap up for the night. "Do you go over and tuck her in often dad?" She asked with an arched eyebrow, looking between the two of them. She held the expression as long as she could before breaking down into laughter again.

Jim raised an eyebrow a bit. The child support angle had never occurred to him, and while the money would help, not having a long drawn out legal battle would help a lot more. "I'm glad you're on my side." Jim said softly. He had little doubt Dent could whip up some intimidating legal document, and Jim had no issues with blackmailing the bitch to ensure Babs never had to go back to whatever she was escaping from. "I think that could work." He agreed.

Jim just nodded when she said he had exciting stories to tell. She was right about that, but even more right that she'd never hear any of them. He didn't want to give her nightmares. She was glad he understood that, and he did recognize the look in her eye. He'd seen it a few times in the mirror.

"Your my daughter. You don't have to earn anything." Jim promised her, though he couldn't deny if she got a job it would be a big help. "But yeah...I think we'll make a hell of a team." Jim said softly.

"It was just that one time! And I'd just gotten out of the hospital!" Chloe protested, her face a shade of red similar to Bab's hair, when Babs teased her about her dad tucking her in.

She noticed his reaction to her comments about her mother and she gave him a very serious look. "I'm always going to be on your side dad. I don't care if the whole city turns against you someday, I'll still be here." She sounded very serious when she said it though her expression softened a bit after words. "Sorry, I think I got a bit carried away there..."

She nodded her understanding but smiled at him anyway. "I know you wouldn't expect it or ask it of me. But it would make me feel better to do it. I don't plan to work my fingers to the bone or anything but if nothing else, if I can pay for my own clothes and stuff, it'll keep you from worrying about that at least. And that's important to me."

She grinned when Chloe turned that bright shade of red and barely restrained herself from a fist pump. She kissed her dad on the cheek. "You don't have to tuck us in tonight, I'm pretty sure Chloe would burst into flame if you came over at this point. You can tuck me in once we get me settled in. Though fair warning, I may grumble about it." She makes a vague motion to herself. "Teenager." She shrugs playfully and looks at Chloe. "Shall we head over to you house and let my dad recover from tonight?"

"That's good to know, though I hope it doesn't come to that." Jim said softly. He had more than a few enemies in Gotham already, and from what he understood most teenagers did not get along well with their parents even when they grew up in the same household. The last thing he wanted was to start having fights at home after a day of having fights on the street. "I hope not." he said softly when she said she might have gotten carried away.

"I know the feeling." Jim said with a nod when Babs said she wanted to pull her own weight. That was part of the reason he'd joined the Marines...it was the quickest route he could think of to self sufficiency.

"What else is new?" Jim laughed as he recalled baby Babs whining when it was time for bed. Jim also blushed a bit when she kissed his cheek, but he couldn't resist returning the gesture, his mustache tickling her cheek a bit as he did so. "So...shopping tomorrow?" Jim asked, not quite sure what the plan was. He had to head into work for a brief time, but he could schedule it around a shopping trip.

Once plans had been made for the morning, Chloe couldn't resist slipping her arm through that of her new houseguest. "I don't think your dad will ever recover from tonight." Chloe giggled as she began to guide Babs to the front door again.

Barbara grinned as he kissed her cheek and nodded, a very serious look on her face. "Of course, I need bras and panties remember? We can schedule it for when you get off work if you want. Unless..." She suddenly couldn't resist pushing his buttons one last time. "unless you wanted to invite along that other detective or something. Harvey."

She offered zero resistance when Chloe edged her to the door and stepped outside with one last wave at her dad. Once they were outside she confided in Chloe as they walked to the house next door. "I have no idea what's come over me, giving him such a hard time like that. Poor man is probably glad we're gone." She shrugged and when they entered Chloe's house she looked at the other girl.

"So, I'll set up the air mattress by your bed? I'll look through the stuff you packed me for something to sleep in though I guess what I have on actually works just fine huh?"

Jim turned a light shade of red when Babs mentioned she needed bras again, and his expression darkened at the thought of Harvey coming along. "I don't think that's necessary." He said coldly, then a smile appeared on his face. "Why don't we make a long lunch out of it?" He suggested.

"You're a teenager. He's an adult. That's a volatile combination." Choe said with a giggle as she walked arm in arm with Babs to her front door. her expression then turned serious as she unlocked and opened the door. "I saw the way he looked at you, and the fact he wanted to spend a bit more time with you and tuck you in? He's glad your here, and always will be." She nodded at Babs plan and handed her the air mattress. "The built in pump should still have a charge on it." Chloe said as she picked up the sleeping bag and the bag she had packed for Babs. "And sure, that works. Or you can grab something out of the suitcase. Or out of the closet if you like." Chloe clearly had no problem sharing with her new friend as they walked down the hall to the bedroom again. .

She noticed her dad's reaction to her bringing up Harvey and was a bit surprised at the strength of it. She'd been too distracted earlier to pick up on more than a bit of annoyance at Harvey and some sarcasm about his police work but now she suspected that her Dad may truly not like Harvey, or at least, didn't want him around her. She smiled at him. "A long lunch would be wonderful!"

Barbara nodded and quickly figured out the workings of the pump. She activated it and smiled, looking slightly self conscious at Chloe's offer. "Thank you but you've already done enough for me. This will be fine. If I keep raiding your closet you won't have anything to wear soon!" She winked playfully and once the air mattress was filled she moved it into place then set about trying to make it comfortable.

She took the sleeping bag from Chloe and unzipped it, laying it over the air mattress then looked at her. "Know how I said all that stuff about you doing enough for me? Well, I might have spoke to soon. Do you have a spare pillow and blanket for this?"

"Well, that just means I'd have to raid your closet." Chloe laughed as she took a seat on the bed, suddenly a bit uncomfortable about changing into her pajamas in front of the other girl. Chloe nodded as the pump kicked into operation, quickly filling up the mattress so Babs wouldn't have to sleep on the floor. She nodded eagerly as Babs asked for a blanket and pillow, grateful for the distraction of having to change, at least for the moment. "Sure do." Chloe said as she got to her feet and headed out into the hallway again. She paused for a moment at one of the closets before she returned with not one, but two pillows and blankets. "Want me to tuck you in?" Chloe teased.

Barbara's perception failed her this time as she was too focused on getting her bed set up and missed Chloe's uncomfortable expression. It was likely for the best as she might have misinterpreted it. She reacted with joy when Chloe came back with the pillows and blankets and accepted them gratefully. She grinned at the other girl and put the pillows into place, before stretching herself out on the air mattress, looking at Chloe.

"How can I turn down such a kind offer?" She said playfully as she loosely draped the blankets over herself.

Well, Babs for her part seemed content to sleep in the clothes Chloe had loaned her, which eliminated the easy solution of them both changing clothes at the same time. Chloe returned Babs grin, putting the awkwardness on the back burner for now, then laughed as Babs accepted her offer to be tucked in. "Don't forget Inky." Chloe protested as she put the stuffed Octopus' next to Babs head. "And Smokey." He stuffed bear had never had a name before, but Chloe had to give him one now. as she placed it on the other side of Babs head. "And Spocko." The tiger had almost nothing to do with Star Trek, but Chloe was quickly running out of ideas as she placed it on top of Babs head. "And Gilligan." Now her stuffed lion had had a name ever since she got it ten years ago, and it got the place of honor on Babs chest even as she began to tuck the blanket underneath Babs. By the time she was done, the red head was surrounded with animals and cocooned on the air mattress, and Chloe had an idea for how to change. "I just need to take a quick shower. be right back." Chloe promised as she grabbed her pajamas and headed out of the room, flicking the light off as she did so.

Barbara couldn't help laughing as she was damn near buried in the stuff animals and tucked in tightly. She watched Chloe go and then moved the animals to the side though after a moment of thought she grabbed Inky and pulled him close, finding a bit of comfort in it to her own surprise. She rolled onto her side and tucked an arm under the pillow, staring sightlessly at the wall before she almost slapped her forehead when she realized she'd forgotten to take off her glasses.

She took them off and laid them carefully on Chloe's bedside table then laid back down, listening to the sound of the running shower in the next room over. Her lips curved in a smile as she thought about how things had changed so drastically for her in less than 24 hours. She spent almost the entire time Chloe was in the shower thinking about the new projects she had given herself and making mental notes about things she needed to researched. GCPD server access, Sensei Silver and Cobra Kai, Sara Lance, Bruce Wayne, the list went on and on. She was tired enough that even these thoughts didn't keep her awake for long and she was fully asleep by the time Chloe's shower finished.

As far as Chloe knew, the only plans Babs had were a lunch shopping trip with her father, so she saw no need to wake the girl when she got up the next morning, Though as the sun rose and awoke the girl, Chloe couldn't help but grin as she saw how Babs cuddled up with Inky. Now that the room was a bit brighter, she also saw Babs glasses sitting on her nightstand, and for some reason, that sight made her smile happily as well. Babs still appeared to be sound asleep, so Chloe quickly changed, this time slipping on a T-shirt (Star Trek related, of course) and pants over her underwear. She skipped the shoes and socks for the moment as she tried to quietly slip out of the room and head to the kitchen. Chloe wasn't much of a cook, but she could do pancakes and sausage, and if Babs happened to awaken before she ate, she could cook some up for her houseguest as well.
