He nodded gently, "I wanted you to ask Sarutobi to sit with Akihime. Talk about the job you were sent on at her estate." He was firm or mean; in fact he was rather calm, as if anticipating the conversation to come to a dead stop.

Amaya scowled softly, folding her arms over her chest. “You know I don’t call the shots and can’t talk about my jobs.” She said. “I can bring it up to him, but it’s on him to decide if he’ll talk with Otani or not. She didn’t play very gentle with him the last time so I’m not sure what his answer would be.”

"I understand. I assumed that because you were his second, you would help sway his decision." He said gently, "I want to know who attacked her." It was no secret Mitsunari held Akihime in high regard, considering the connection he had with her mother.

Amaya pursed her lips in displeasure. “You know how I feel about breaking confidentiality.” She said pointedly. “I can pass along the message as a courtesy to you, but that’s all I can offer.”

Amaya gave a firm nod before her expression softened a bit. “How have you been doing lately?” She asked.

"Mm," he leaned back a bit, his tags jangling as he moved, "well enough. Always something to do. Would be easier were you still around." He offered a faint smile, "But we're managing."

“I’m glad to hear, I figured you’d keep a pretty good hold on things with or without me.” She teased. “And your health?”

She gave another nod. “That’s good to hear.” She said, standing with a sigh. “I’ll speak with him, but that’s all I can promise.” She said before nodding her head to him. “It was good to see you, Mitsunari.”

He nodded in return, "It was good to see you, as well. Thank you again, Amaya, and do better to avoid being so battered next time." His tone was flat, as it always was, but she knew him well enough that he was teasing her.

“Ah, it’s not like I can feel it anyhow.” She said with a slight smirk, giving one last wave before heading off. She didn’t know how Sasuke would feel about reaching out to Akihime, but would talk to him about it regardless.
It didn’t take long for her to get back to the lodging they were staying in, a large flat everyone crashed in while not out on a job.
“Sasuke still here?” She asked as she closed the door behind her, pocketing her house keys.

Amaya nodded and headed down the hall to the room they converted into an office, knocking at the door. “Captain? I’m back.”

Amaya blinked in surprise, slowly reaching out to take the bouquet. “What’s this for?” She asked, looking it over. “Did you get a secret admirer or something?”

Amaya stared at him before looking to the flowers, eyes softening briefly before she pushed him backwards into the office, kicking the door shut with her foot. “I do.” She said softly, face flushed red, glancing up at him over the flowers.

Amaya moved the flowers carefully behind her back, taking a step forward and leaning in to kiss him softly on the lips. “Yeah?”

She smirked softly, looking up at him, her lips brushing his. “Sorry about that~” She apologized with a teasing tone.

“I’ll have to be more gentle in the future then.” She said, taking a small step back. “Maybe let you do the pushing around?”
