Megohime still wasn’t happy with the lack of evidence she brought back, but only nodded in response. Surely their would be more opportunities to get evidence on Matsunaga, it would just take time.

"Yukimura," Akihime called him gently as he made his rounds around the manor, smiling softly, "would you want to share a drink with me? I feel like you've been working too much preparing for the meeting."

Yukimura had been helping the other servants in the home make the house more presentable since the attack; doing repairs, replacing furniture, tearing out carpet stained with blood. Anything that he could help with he could. He looked to where he heard Akihime call from, his coat and vest off and his sleeves rolled up to his elbows so he didn’t dirty his nice dress shirt. “Well… I have time for a short break, but I shouldn’t take too long since there’s still more work to be done.” He agreed, not wanting to outright reject his boss.

She smiled softly and nodded, "I won't take up too much of your time. Thank you for keeping me company." She said as she moved to walk to her office.

Yukimura moved to catch up with her, falling in step beside her and walking with her to her office. “Of course, Akihime.” He said with a nod.

When they entered the office, she moved to a small cabinet behind her desk, pulling out two glasses and a bottle of gin. She poured them both a glass and she sat down, "Everything is going smoothly, though?"

Yukimura sat down in the seat across from her desk, taking his cup once it was poured. “Everything is on schedule to be ready for when the meeting happens, not a rug out of place.” He said with a firm nod.

She smiled softly and nodded, sipping her drink with a contented noise, "Excellent, I knew I could count on you." This sort of thing was normally Suzette's job, from what Claudia had told him. It was unpleasant not seeing her or Bernardo floating about anymore.

“Of course, thank you.” He said with a nod before taking a sip of his drink, fighting the urge to wince at the feeling in his mouth. He wasn’t much a of a drinker at all, it wasn’t something he sought out, and he had rarely done so before joining Akihime’s payroll.

"If you need a mixer, don't hesitate to ask. You don't have to be brave for me." She smiled, "I recall you mentioning you didn't drink much, so if it's too strong as is, I can make easier on you."

“Ah, no!” He quickly held up his hand. “It’s nothing, I’m just not used to this taste- I’ve never had gin before.” He admitted. “I’m sure I’ll grow to like it.” He said, taking another drink as if to prove that point.

Yukimura again nodded, not sure what Akihime meant by botanical taste. All things had the same muted taste- alcohol just made it feel like cleaning supplies had been dumped into his mouth the way it burned and made it hard to breathe. “I see.. I’m afraid my knowledge of alcohol is rather limited.”

"I'm rather picky with my booze." She said amusedly before sipping a little more, "If you wanted to broaden your knowledge, I have a full cabinet we can share sometime?"

Yukimura gave a nod, even if all alcohol had the same mouthfeel to him, surely he’d be able to find some difference? He had been told once that maybe his tastebuds were broken, but he had never bothered to get it checked by a real doctor. “I don’t mind sharing a drink or two with you, but I don’t have much of an interest in alcohol.”

Yukimura felt his cheeks flush at the offer, finding it hard to not see it as an invitation to a date. “O-Of course.” He nodded, downing the rest of his drink nervously.

She followed suit, shooting back the last of her gin with nary a cough before reaching for the bottle to refill their glasses, "Good, I was worried I was too ugly.." She said jokingly.

“N-No! No of course not, Lady Akihime!” He said, allowing her to refill his glass. His face only flushed more, embarrassed that he had said such things.

She laughed softly, her cheeks turning a soft pink; whether is was because she was flattered or from the booze was uncertain, "I'm honored to hear you think so."

Yukimura’s heartbeat picked up a bit, and he took another drink of his gin to try and calm his nerves. “It isn’t hard to see that you’re a beautiful woman.” It felt wrong speaking that way about his boss, but maybe it was the alcohol making him bold.

“Boss Date seems to like you.” He said, sipping his drink again. “And you’re a powerful woman… I think men are just afraid of you.” He pointed out, already starting to feel a bit of a buzz.

"Masamune has no interest in me," she told him, "he's usually pretty polite with the compliments, but his eye is on someone else." She slugged the last of her glass and let her head hang back as the gin slammed into her, her buzz pretty powerful now. She lifted her head again and looked to him sluggishly, "Are you afraid of me, Yukimura...? Cuz I'm a powerful woman...?"
