The hours leading up to when they’d meet put Motochika further and further on edge, and when he arrived to their meeting spot, he could feel eyes on him.
He didn't bring the quinque, as promised, amd was alone from the smell of it. He glamced around, feeling like he wasn't alone, and hoped it was just Nana.
Nana waited a moment before stepping out from her hiding spot in the shadows and approaching Motochika. She wore dark clothes with the hood pulled up, and she had her face hidden with a medical mask.
Nana looked completely unlike herself, eyes red and puffy from crying, and she looked about ready to buy out of her skin. “Motochika…” She sounded just as scared, glancing around. “I’m leaving school.”
“You don’t get it!” She clenched her fists. “Now that you know, I’m in danger!” She took a deep breath to calm herself. “I have to leave before Doves come sniffing; they already found the body I had to leave behind.”
Her eyes widened in horror. “No, Motochika, that’s bad!” She snapped at him again. “Do you even know what they do to ghouls? The ghouls they can’t catch, they hunt down and kill, and the ones that get caught never come back!”
"Cuz we're friends, I thought.." He said, "I didn't know it was you...had I known, I would have walked away..." It sounded so foreign in his mouth, but he couldn't help but say it, "I don't want you gettin hurt cuzza me.."
Nana felt her heart ache at his words, only making her decision that much harder. She looked away, feeling regretful. “I’m sorry..” She said softly. “There’s already people who are helping me- other ghouls, they said they can keep me safe..”
Nana looked unsure; should she tell Motochika? No, in the small change that he would still turn her in, she had to keep the details to herself. “J-Just some ghouls..” She muttered, avoiding eye contact. “I really hope that I can trust you Motochika- I'm sorry, but I have to go for now.”
Nana turned to leave, a soft frown on her face. “And get rid of the quinque.. You probably don’t know, but that’s a person- a ghoul. They cut us up, turn us into weapons.” She shook her head. “Stay safe, Motochika.” She muttered, then left.
