SAINTS (1x1 w/DarkMukip)

Akihime moved through the building, stopping when she finally found Sasuke. She moved over quickly, eyes wide with panic.
"Sasuke? Are you alright?"
"Akihime...?" Sasuke was so tired, looking up sluggishly, "What are you...?"
"Don't worry about that...why are you here...?!" She asked quietly. Sasuke frowned.
"Amaya...they have Amaya...if I give my kakuhou...they'll let her go..." He replied. Akihime shook her head weakly.
"Sasuke, she..."
"She's in his office...she's strung up...you have to get her out..." he said. Akihime bit her lip but nodded.
"Ok...I will..."

Yan took Amaya out of the room and walked down the hall with her, keeping a gentle hold on her hand. For someone held against her will, she certainly wasn't treated like it.

The office Matsunaga had brought Akihime in to sign her papers had no one else inside, maybe it was a different office? Either way, Amaya had not been among the faces she had seen since coming there.

Amaya did her best to fight off any questions or feelings of doubt she had about the situation. She was lucky she had all her limbs and her life- Sasuke and Yukimura weren’t as lucky. If it was their fate to die, then it was her fate to live as a pet, living for someone else’s whims.
She held onto Yan gently, matching his stride- it didn’t matter where they were going, she was just glad she wasn’t alone locked in a room once more.

"Please...please find her..." Sasuke pleaded weakly. Akihime frowned but nodded.
"Ok. I'll find a way to get you out of here soon, ok?" She said. He nodded weakly before letting his head fall back. Akihime frowned and left him for now; at least she knew where he was.

Yan took her out with him to some appearances he had to make, keeping his gentle hold on her so she wouldn't stray.

This was the first Amaya’s name had been mentioned at all, Matsunaga failing to bring her up entirely- did he have an even worse fate planned for her than he had planned for Sasuke? Surely finding her wouldn’t be too hard.

Amaya stayed by his side the entire time, only looking around to see the others in the room, but she didn’t bother making note of any doors or windows. Part of her felt bad for not trying to make an escape route, regardless, she stayed at his side and did her job as a pet; to look good beside him.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t realize.” Amaya apologized softly. “I just have never been to meetings like this… it’s all a little intimidating.” That part wasn’t a lie, being one of the only humans in a room full of powerful ghouls making business deals really did make her feel out of place. “Forgive me, I’ll have to get used to this sort of thing.”

He shook his head gently, "Don't apologize. You're fine, you're doing well. You will get used to it." He assured her. How odd; Matsunaga would have demeaned her.

It almost reminded her of how Sasuke was when he first introduced her to Yukimura and his group, then only about five ghouls big. She stuffed the feeling down immediately, nodding her head and offering a soft smile. “Of course, Yan-sama.”

Amaya got the occasional odd stare, but they were always brief once it became obvious she was Yan’s pet.
Amaya got more time outside of her bedroom, even if it was still within the facility and with a chaperone in Yan’s absence, it didn’t matter to Amaya. She found herself busying her time in Yan’s personal library, though she found it a bit difficult to read most of the books in his collection due to them all being in Mandorin, leaving her to only able to flip blindly through the pages.

Amaya would save the question for a later time- perhaps dinner when he wasn’t occupied with work. For now she put the book back onto the shelf, browsing for more books that she might be able to read.
Later that night when Yan returned from business, and they sat down to share a meal, Amaya brought up the topic. “Yan-sama.. I wanted to learn some Mandarin… I want to be able to communicate better, but I’m finding it difficult to do so with my current knowledge.”

Yan glanced up at her and made a soft noise, "I would be happy to teach you. It makes me happy to hear you desire to learn. Japanese isn't my ideal language, no offense."

She shook her head. “I take no offense, you’ve been very accommodating speaking my language, I’m most grateful to you.” She said, glancing up when the door from the kitchen slammed open. She was surprised to see someone standing in dirty clothes, missing one of his arms. The man looked unhinged, holding a modified quinque knife in hand as he stared down Yan for a brief moment before charging him. Amaya felt the hair on the back of her neck stand on end as she watched the man close the distance quickly, raising the knife to attack Yan. She acted without thinking, grabbing the knife she was using for dinner and hopping over the table in one quick motion, intercepting the man and taking him down to the ground with a heavy thud. Her knife found his throat before his blade could cut into her, arm blocking his swing as she stabbed into his neck in three quick strikes.

Yan watched quietly, kakugan agitated and angry, fully ready to defend himself should he have needed to. But, he was pleasantly surprised to see Amaya jump so reasily in his defense.

Amaya didn’t know why she had done it, just as surprised by her own actions as she stood up off the dying man, who stared back at her with contempt and confusion. She looked up when three ghouls came bursting through the same kitchen door the escaped slave had, clearly after him as they looked around before quickly approaching. Amaya dropped the knife right away, letting it clatter to the ground at her feet as she lowered her gaze. Her breath caught in her throat and her heart hammered in her chest. She had messed up. She had taken a weapon and killed without thinking, a careless act that would now cost her her life no doubt. “Y-Yan-sama, I..” She surely could convince him to not cast her away, to overlook her mistake and be forgiving for her violence.

He only offered her his hand, beckoning her with it gently, his eyes soft as his kakugan retreated, "Are you alright, Fu Xuan? That must have been frightening."

The men who had entered the room hadn’t come for Amaya, waiting for her to step away from the human before quickly gathering him up and clearing him away, taking the quinque knife with them. Amaya let out the breath she had been holding in, stepping forward and taking his hand carefully. “I’m sorry.. I acted without thinking… I was just startled..” Had she been scared? Why did she do any of it in the first place? Yan was a ghoul, more than capable of taking care of himself, so why had she bothered to lift a finger- to prove something? To whom?
She moved closer to Yan, lowering her head a bit. “Please forgive me for acting out of place.”

Amaya was surprised by his actions, standing there allowing him to hold her in a tender embrace. She couldn’t help the tears that threatened to come up, unable to stop her thoughts from going to Sasuke. She didn’t get to say goodbye to him, didn’t get to hug him one last time before being sent off, and now she never would get to. “Your praise makes me happy, Yan-sama.” She said softly.

Amaya nodded, not wanting to argue. She gave the blood smear on the floor one last glance as they left, tearing her eyes away as they left the room.
