        • In the land of Terre A'nglis, evil if stirring. Evil in its most abhorred and terrifying form. Twilight, the God of Curruption, is awakening in the prison he was sealed in at the beginning of humanity by the other Gods for fear he would destroy their newest Children. Thousands of years later, he is awakening and his followers are intent on freeing him completely.

The Gods are still too weak to reseal Twilight's prison or kill him should he escape, so instead they choose a few Mortals to do it for them, blessing them with miraculous gifts and powers and a promise to grant their hearts' desires once they seal Twilight away.

The chosen Mortals must find each other and band together to stop Twilight, but can they forget their differences, put away their love, disown their hopes of a future, and forfeit their lives for this task? What happens when one of their chosen takes the path to free Twilight? Only you can decide the fate of Terre A'ngelis.

            • Omei had seen mountains lower than these misnamed Snowy Hills, great lopsided heaps of half-buried boulders, webbed with steep twisting passes. A number of those passes would have given a goat pause. You could travel three days through the lush forests and snow-covered meadows without seeing a single sign of Mortal habitation. This was the Roof of the World, a place that would soon become legendary.

She glanced at the others that crowded the rift between the mountains. All looked fearful and nervous, casting brief glances at a tall steel cage in the center of them all. No, they looked at its contents. The man in the cage caught and held Omei's eyes. She was not close enough to see the man's face, as She had wanted to, but suddenly She thought She was as close as She cared for. The prisoner was a tall man, with long, dark hair falling around his broad shoulders. He held Himself upright with one hand on the bars over His head. His clothes seemed ordinary, a cloak and coat and breeches that would not have caused comment in any farming village. But the way He wore them. The way He held Himself. Twilight was a God in every inch of Him. The cage might as well not have been there. He held Himself erect, head high, and looked over the other Deities as if They had come to do Him honor. And where ever His gaze swept, there the others fell silent, staring back in a mixture of fear and disgust.

"Did we make the right choice, Gallues?" Vexed with Herself, Omei grimaced. She shouldn't be acting like a Mortal and letting Her mindless tongue flap in the breeze. The decision was made. It had been on Her mind though. She was not so unconcerned as She wanted to be.

Galleus, the Skylord as Mortals called him, glanced at Her. "The other choices only held different risks, not lesser." The Skylord considered Her for a moment before placing a hand on Her shoulder. "We must do this, Omei. For our Children." Omei nodded, reluctantly.

The others were forming a circle around the steel cage. It was time. Omei and Galleus joined them and completed the circle. The air crackled and sparked with the combined power of Their joining. Every head was bowed, as though in prayer. Twilight stirred now, eyes growing large as He stared at His fellow Deities. As the air seemed to harden and crush the cage, Twilight threw back His head and laughed.

It was the last sound He was to make again. A mountain, taller than any other in Terre A'nglis rose from were Twilight once stood, rising farther and farther into the sky, past the clouds. The roar of the earth being up heaved was deafening to any Mortal.

Finally, the earth became silent and was still. The Deities were gone, back to their homes to rest. Some carrying the bodies of those who had used too much of their power and were now as dead as a Mortal being.

"The shadow fell upon the land, and the world was cleaved stone from stone. The oceans fled, the mountains were consumed, and the lands were wrought with death. The moon was as blood and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was scattered and all memory lost, save for one memory above all others; of those that had begun the Dark Wars."

"It shall once again come to pass that the shadow shall rise across the realm, darken every land, and there shall be neither light nor safety. Darkness shall be reborn, born once more as it was born before and shall be born again, time without end. And it that shall be born of the shadows, born of the ancient evil, shall stretch forth its hands, and the blood of the world will flow with death once more."[/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u]

Oh, hey, how much of a reader is CJ? How would he react if he finds his book-stave suddenly can display the pages of any book he can think of, from spellbooks to history books to atlases to cheap adventure novels... would that be useful? Miraculous? Depends on how much he wants to do all of the research, really...
to answer: yes. X3 he finds knowledge fascinating since what he knows is what he believes balances out what others do not, therefore the more he would read the more he would find helpful to others. though i think the only things he would be able to read in his book is whatever is written down already, so he couldn't read about a new demon that has never been logged down before.

as for the intro for him: Ceej knew that others out there use magic, and expects everyone to be able to use it at some point since it would balance themselves. most of the magic he comes across though is just a small level of magic while he himself took time to memorize only a few spells well enough to summon them when he needs 'em, but still has his own martial ways for fighting as well. :3 however, he is dependant on what he has, except for a dispelling spell, so if his stave is taken away he cannot use any of his bestowed magic as well as fight as effectively, and has taken the vow to only use blunt weapons since they're harder to injure with, thinking it's a balance on it's own. :3
So, have you thought of what kind of Gifts you might enjoy? The uber-book was one mystical tool you could be granted, but surely there's something you think would enhance him directly. I mean, besides the augmentation of things he already has (memory for spells, fighting prowess, maybe diplomacy skills). He's been Called, but I don't know if he's been Gifted yet; maybe he'll discover new abilities on the road, or when he gets there.

not realy, though i know his smiting ability will be increased gradually through every course of balance he takes, while certain things like dispel might become a sheild, or even reflect/deflect magic coming at him as well. :3 i'm not one to plan ahead that far, but i know the general layout of what he will be experiencing. ^^;

and he's not gifted yet, besides the diety of the cosmos increasing his smiting abilities as well as inflict/healing abilities slighlty increased but not yet noticable since even for a cleric he doesn't heal or inflict often, whilst his inflictions deal less damage than his healing since he can already injure via book+stave+mace. ^^

Thanks again, I pride myself on detail, and I do like lovecraft's work. I will detail ghostwood shortly

I can understand that, I know we are the god's champions but that doens't mean we should be unstoppable or anything, that would be no fun of course, there should be a struggle against the forces of darkness after all, and even if our abilities are far above the average human, there are still things out there that should be able to pwn us if alone, like Twilight's champions.

As for magic I can understand people understanding mages and clerics, especially when the gods are so personal about the world. A normal person witnesses CJ heal somebody they will be 'ah, cool' but witnessing Vincent conjure a demon or open a fiery pit beneath someone's feet would be a different story

Nice ring. vincent's gear is guarded by a different enchantment, and you would have to be stupid to attempt to steal The Souldrinker if you can't control it's evil nature, the consequences are nearly self explanitory. I can't wait until Vincent is forced to unveal it. Currently it is wrapped in several layers of cloth and hidden in his robes.

Should the gate guards confiscate weapons? That is common in some campaigns I play, you would imagine in a city this big that would be difficult, though in the upper levels I can see that happening.
The ring was just an example. The same is true for the rest of his tools. It's not that this is the usual case, he didn't have that ability before, it's all part of the Gift, now. Vincent and Souldrinker, on the other hand, you'd have to have had that kind of protection and precaution from the very beginning, just about. So that's rather a different story. Perhaps one aspect of Vince's Gift might be better control over Souldrinker? Take that as you will; better ability to fight, or better ability to dominate by force of will... or both, why not?

And yes, the idea is that we need these miraculous powers because our opposition will be worse. If not more powerful, definitely more numerous. There are probably only going to be a few enemies who could oppose us one on one, but the problem is likely to be lesser threats in overwhelming numbers.

Of course, that all depends on how the drama unfolds, as well; our opposition is contingent upon what we write for ourselves...

EDIT: and yeah, in a big city, confiscating weapons at the gate would be onerous. People want their weapons back, damn it! So most likey they'll check weapons at certain buildings, particularly rich ones.

I didn't exactly go into detail on The Souldrinker's details, but the weapon as Sal had guessed is evil. Vincent's very nature flirts with the powers of darkness but he chooses to use them for good. The sword is pretty much something only Vincent or a similarly powered being could use.

Another idea is The sword is sentient, it chooses it's owner, and it chose Vincent. Vincent could even fear it's power, hense why he would use it less.

Maybe we should poke pretty, tell her it is her turn?
Well, her roleplay request thread says she's only online every other day, her last post was on 2/3, and her last login was something like 6 am on 2/4. I'm hoping that means she'll be able to post again today, and we can get to moving forward.

In the long-run, that means that any plot thread involving Lucretia ought to learn to not be impatient. I'm sure she'll be an excellent co-writer, if her existing text is any indication, but there's going to be long stretches when she's not on, is all.

So settle in, my friend; she'll post when she posts, and we just have to be ready for that. :)

          • -rolls in-

            Yes, yes, I'm here.
I usually log on AT LEAST once a day, but that's usually to see if anyone needs my admin assistance.
I'm usually too tired to post in any roleplay though.
Having two jobs sucks ass, ya'know?

Anyway! I will get started on a reply immediately.
            [/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u]

Yay, you is back!
It helps, I am on most of the day since I am a layabout and even spend time online in class. My teachers generally don't give a crud either.

I am good at multitasking ^.^

          • Once I get a new laptop, then I can get online more since Panera has free wifi and I can get online when I'm on my break.
            [/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u]

          • lawl
            Same.

            I lack pretty girly handwriting.
            Mine is tiny chicken scratch.
            [/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u]

lol learning cursive was a bitch... my teacher thought that when i tried to make a z i was making a p or a q. DX

          • My handwriting is half-print half-cursive.

It's like my brain can't decide what it wants to do.
            [/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u]

All right, Midnight's go.

I'm going to put out the whole "explanation" thing so we can get along to coping with our new powers and working toward our mission. When we meet others, I'll just drop something like "Sal gives them the briefing" to speed things along; we don't need to cover the same ground over and over... It would be like trying to hike through the Ghostwood... :-D

          • Oh noes. You shushed Lucy.

            She's not gonna like that.
            lol
            [/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u]

          • Yeah, I'm aware, particularly in her current mood, but I hope she'll realize he's got a lot of data to dump, and it's important that she knows it. She'll still be cranky, and he's actually expecting some kind of retaliation, based on his evaluation of her personality... but as long as she listens to what he's got to tell her, he can cope.

          • I'm not entirely sure WHAT she'll do.

I haven't decided yet, but you know its not going to be positive.
She's not going to smile and say, "Oh, so that's it! Okay, let's go kill Twilight guys!"
            [/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u][/list:u]

Well of course not.

Hell, Sal's not all that enthusiastic about it, either.

He's just got a lot more practice doing what needs to be done, even if it's not pretty, and he knows he's one of the best candidates for the job.

You don't think his name-dropping Haern and his discussion of new Gifts might have a mitigating effect? They were designed to...
