A guard with a twist (cat/Divine)

She gave a heavy sigh as she peered out the towering window, holding back the sheer drapes she watched the rising sun. Today was the day she was to meet the prince of the neighboring kingdom as well as her new body guard. Since the threat of war her father wouldn't let her leave the castle, so she sat in her room watching the days fade away. Though today there would be some excitement. Her father had prepared a large banquet in honor of the prince's arrival. Though she wasn't all that interested in it. She could take care of herself... well mostly.

The sun rose over the rolling mountains casting a pink glow through out the clear sky. She offered another sigh before turning back from the window and moving across the room to her closet. The maids just now entering the room, ready to help her dress for the day. She shook her head slowly as they gathered up her dress and began to undress her.

The prince arrived with a royal honorguard of fifteen men on impeccable white steeds. He rode one himself. His guards were all dressed in heavy chainmail, most of them armed with swords and shields, while a few had bows and arrows. The prince's horse had a coat of arms on the long flags that went halfway down the beast's strong sides. When he arrived at the kingdom, he dismounted and bowed, to the gate guards, and to the king, when he got to the castle.

"Hello, good king." Said the prince. "I come to be your beloved daughter's bodyguard, and I bring my own royal guard to protect anyone you wish. Their orders are to report directly to you." He said. The prince wore a silk shirt over a vest of chainmail, and long leggings above travel boots. A black cape covered his back. He had a thin black collar on, and a long thin sword belted on his left hip, to be drawn with his right hand. "I hear there is to be a feast in my honor?" He asked.

The king received his guest with open arms and welcomed him to his home. After a few minutes of listening to the prince's comments, the king stood with a heavy smile. "Ah that's all well and good, I thank you for taking the duty of watching my daughter during this dark hour. And as for the feast" the King bellowed before leading the Prince to the grand hall. "It well be held here. My daughter will be down shortly, please feel free to freshen up in your chambers." With that a small young girl approached and lead the prince to his chamber which was across the hall from the princess for now.

She on the other hand was still busy getting ready as the maids slipped on another layer of hoops before lacing her corset tight. After a few more minutes of dressing, the maids bowed and left the room. She sighed as she glanced at herself in the mirror. Again with a sigh as she shook her head, she always hated these party dresses. But soon another knock would sound on her door, her father entering with a smile. "He's here, now behave and receive him well.

The prince smiled and thanked the king, looking aorund the castle, and then a small girl took his hand and lead him to a chamber near the princess's. He walked inside and shooed the girl away. She wanted to help, but the prince was firm and pushed her out gently. The girl thanked him and walked off, and the prince freshened up unattended. When he emerged he wore a more regal garment, with a hat even.

The prince was very lean, and had an attractive, almost feminine face. He was commonly made fun of by other males, but he was said to be his country's foremost in swordfighting, and he had won the kingdom's championship three years in a row. Even now, he kept a blade on his hip, though this one was much more decorative than practical.

Soon her father was escorting her to the grand hall, the rustling of her dress echoed against the empty hall as it muffled the clicking of her heels. She sighed softly to herself as they entered the hall and her father guided her to her seat next to him. Slowly she sat , gathering her dress so it laid smooth. She rested her arm on the arm of the chair, her cheek leaning against her hand as her eyes swept boredly through the hall. Her violet orbs flaring against the dark contrast of her her dress and hair.

The dress was black and spilled to the floor below. The corset that encased her was a simple cream with a few dark stitches, the lacing up the front was a wine color as was the back lacing. Her hair laid in heavy ringlets, spilling down her back and over her shoulders. The coffee stained strands hinted with a heavy wine tint framed her face nicely as she sat by her father. Obviously she got her looks from her fair mother.

The prince walked downstairs, once again lead by the hand by the cute little girl who had patiently waited outside his door while he changed. He was lead slowly down the stairs and into the hall where everyone sat. He bowed as he entered the room, and many of the local nobles clapped. He smiled and was lead around to sit near to the princess. He took one look at her and was shocked. She was absolutlely beautiful. He stared in awe for a moment before taking his seat.

He smiled to the king and waited patiently for the feast to begin. The little girl bowed to him and walked off out of the room.

The room roar with applause and cheers as the prince entered. She slowly lifted her gaze to glance at her new body guard, her new leash. She sighed as she cast her gaze to her father as he stood. The king gave a short speech, thanking the prince and then ordering everyone to eat and enjoy. The princess gave a soft sigh before reaching for her goblet and lifting it to her painted lips. The sweet wine trickled down her throat, the delicious taste filling her as she slowly lowered the goblet from her lips but keeping it close as those violet orbs danced over the loud hall.

The prince also picked up his goblet and sipped at his wine. He ate slowly and precisely, in an almost ladylike fashion, and proceeded to stuff his face only when he noticed someone looking at him. He slowed down again and looked to the beautiful princess. He smiled and nodded to her, but he could see in her eyes that she was not happy to see him. She likely saw him as an unneccesary security precaution, and in truth, he felt the same way. When the prince was sent out, he fought to stay home. He doubted anyone would want to kidnap the princess either, but if his father insisted, there was little he could say or do.

She didn't bother to pay him much attention though when he nodded at her, she returned it with a soft nod of her head before drinking from her goblet again. This time finishing it and setting it down before she began to pick at her food. The loud hall annoyed her but she tried her best to fight through it. After awhile she tired of it and caught her fathers attention. "I'm going to retire for the eve, father" she bowed her head softly before the king stopped her. "Ah, very well. I'll send the prince up in a moment to look over your new quarters." "New quarters." she asked softly before her father stopped and frowned. He hadn't bother to mention her new living arrangements. He sighed before he rose and gather her hand up in his and lifted her from her seat. He tapped the prince on his shoulder before speaking.

"A moment of your time" the king asked with a soft nod before leading his daughter out of the hall and into a back chamber behind the hall to talk with the prince and her.

The prince ate a bit more and watched as the lovely princess stood up and spoke to her father. The king tapped him on the shoulder and begged a moment of his time. The prince smiled and nodded, standing and following the great man. "I was to understand that I am to look over the princess's chambers? Examine them for security breaches and the like?" He said to the king, walking slowly with him.

The king gave a nod of sorts before he ushered them into the room and shut the door behind them. Now he turned to face both of them before taking his daughters hand once more, this time presenting her to the prince. "This is my daughter, Harlequin." Harlie bowed her head as she gave a soft bow of sorts as she taught to do, lifting her head she met his gaze. "Its so very nice to meet you, Your highness" she purred softly before her father released her hand and began to speak.

Seeing how the prince was to watch of her 24/7, their chambers had been put close together. At first Harlie didn't seem to mind until the final statement from her father. "You two will be sharing living quarters, of course the Prince will have a cot to sleep on until we get the other bed but until then it should be fine." The gave a nod to Harlie, she knew what it meant and held her tongue as she stood there glowering at her father before bowing her head. "As you wish, sir." she stated simply before turning to the leave the room and go to her new chambers.

The door opened easily enough before the King sigh. "give her some time, she still has to warm up to the idea." The king offered before releasing him.

The prince was lead with the king and his lovely daughter into a side room, and formally introduced to the young woman. "A pleasure, Harlequin." He said, looking to the king to continue. The man started to talk about him being her guard at all times, and finally mentioned that he would even sleep in the same room as her. The prince's ears went a bit red when he was told this. The king must have thought there was some kind of serious threat against her to have him sleeping near her.

The prince nodded to the king and followed the princess out the door after a few moments, and then up to their now shared room. He stopped at the door and looked to her. "Miss, do you need time to undress or anything that would prevent me from entering?" He asked.

She made it to her new room quickly enough and at once gave a heavy sigh before flinging herself down on her bed, yelling into her pillows before sitting up and fixing her hair. She knew her father meant well but sometimes her took things to far and this was one of those times. She smoothed her dress before she heard the knock at the door and her new best friend words. With a reluctant huff, she slipped off her bed and opened the door for the prince.

"you may enter..." she trailed off, she never did get his name. She waltzed back over to her bed before shaking her head slowly and instead went to stand by her window. Her fingers peeled the sheer fabric back so she could see the outside worldly freely before she glanced over her shoulder. "I'm sorry... I was never given you name."

The prince smiled as she opened the door to her room for him. Her room was large, and she walked inside and over to the window. "My name? Uhh... My name is Prince Alexander." He said, bowing a bit for her. He walked around her room slowly and began to examine certain things, entry points and the like. "Princess, does this chamber have any kind of hidden entrance?" He asked her. "WOuld you prefer me call you princess or Harlequin?" He asked politely beofre continuing his check around the room. He removed his hat and placed it on her dresser.

Her brow raised slowly to his name before she watched him snoop about her room. She knew he was only doing his job but she couldn't help but feel like a child. "Prince Alexander..." she started before a sigh escaped her lips before she could stop it. "The door and windows are the only way in and out of this room..." She stated simply, she would keep the hidden passage way to herself for now. No need to have him following every where she went. Slowly she shifted under his gaze before she tilted her to the side and back some. "Your Highness will do for now."

She didn't like the idea of being so friendly with someone she just met so she would do her best to keep this distant. He was to be a body guard, she would treat him as such.

The male nodded politley and continued his search for a little while. "That will do, Your Highness." He said. "Unless you are hiding something from me, this room is safe." He said, looking around slowly. He looked around and watched as a few servants moved a cot into the room, and he sat down on it when they were done. "I take it you don't like me much. Or at least don't find me neccessary." He stated as he looked at her.

She didn't bother to reply seeing how the maids were busy moving a cot into the room for the prince, instead she looked back out the window until they were gone. "Prince Alexander, It is that I don't like you... I don't find you necessary as you stated." she began slowly before turning to face him. "My father tends to over react to things, this being one of them. Sadly, he won't listen to me and until the threat of war is over I'm stuck with you." she added with a faint nod. "I didn't mean to come across so clearly unhappy..."

she bowed her head before she looked over to his cot then back to her own bed. She gave another sigh before she shook her head. "I'm sorry, I must sound like a spoiled brat... But it isn't I who's giving up their luxury's for another.."

The prince seemed to be happy just to be speaking with her. "I understand. My father over-reacted just as much. As soon as he heard you needed a faithful bodyguard, he sent me out. I held a similar view to yours, but he insisted that I get on the road the next morning." He said, looking at the cot they had brought for him to sleep on. It wasn't a ragged peasent cot, but it clearly wasn't luxury.

"Don't worry about it. I've been called a spoiled brat a lot back at home." He said. "And the loss of luxury isn't terrible. My only real loss has been my bed. Your castle is quite similar to my own, both in architecture, and in food and such, so I don't feel too much like an outsider." He said. "But what provoked your father into getting you a guard? Are you taking a trip? Or were you attacked?" He asked curiously.

((How do you want her to figure out the prince is a princess?))

She nodded as she listened to him, a soft smile spreading across her painted lips before she shielded a chuckle with her hand. "I see, but " she started before stopping, she did that a lot before thinking over his last question. "Nno, I wasn't attacked, or anything like that. But the chance that I might me stolen away and so on has him worried sick. Hes older and I'm the only heir to the thrown. I'm high priority and the extra help in watching me will help calm him." she gave the answer slowly before looking to him. "I'm Daddy's little girl, he worries a lot." she added with a faint nod and smirk.

"I'll do my best to behave while your here..." she added with a glint of amusement lurking in her violet orbs. "But I promise nothing." Soon after she stopped a small yawn escaped her. "Oh, sorry.. I've usually retired by now."

((uhm, hhmmm.... haven't gave it to much thought. But I figure we'll time skip after a few more post and what not. Once they 'get close' or start to, the prince stops it and one day in a heated argument between the two of them as to why he won't let her get close, she walks in on him either bathing or changing or something along those lines.

Any ideas on your end?))

He smiled as she spoke and nodded. "I see, I see. Well, I imagine all kings worry about their daughters at some point. But they say that worry is a sign of love." He responded, watching her. "Now what does that mean, Your Highness?" He asked with a smirk. She yawned and spoke of retiring and he nodded. "Yes, I have usually retired as well. I will go check the hall and get changed for bed. I will be back in a bit." He said. The prince stood and walked crisply out the door and shut it behind him to give her a little privacy. He meanwhile checked out the hallway and neighboring rooms. He returned in nearly a half hour, thinking that was plenty enough time for her to change.

((I was thinking something more heroic. Perhaps his clothes become tattered in a fight against kidnappers, and the princess sees that he has a feminine body, or that he has breasts. But changing is by far the more likely of the two to happen. I'm off to bed for now. It's pretty late over here.))

The girl only smiled and shook her head before he took his leave and left alone. Shortly the maids came in and at once began to help her undress and ready for bed. She was relived to pulled out of the corset and into something more soft for bed. After a few more adjustment the girls left and the girl was allowed to crawl into bed. She sat there for a moment staring out her window as she often did, just watching the dark sky with heavy eyes. The prince didn't seem that bad, and maybe over time she could get use to the idea of having him around.

She thought it over a moment longer before she sighed, running a hand through her ringlets. Either way, it would prove to be interesting to see if he could keep up with her.

((oh, I like your idea... we'll have to find a way to get it work ))

The prince slipped himself into lighter sleeping gear as well, and left his sword at the foot of his bed. He walked in as soon as the maid walked out. "Good night, Your Highness." He said, settling himself into the nice warm cot they had provided for him. He got under the covers and soon fell asleep there. Tomorrow he would start his new job defending her. He would be following her around all day, and possibly all night, if she was a little scamp who snuck around the castle late at night.

((Is there magic in this Rp?))

"Good night Alexander." She chimed softly before laying her head on the pillow and soon falling asleep. She slept through out the night, the sun peeking in over the mountain tops and through the sheer, slowly lighting the room. She began to stir but still not waking fully just yet. She was never fond of mornings and she was not ready to wake and face the day or her new body guard.

((uhm, if you want to add it in, that's fine with me))

((I was just thinking the prince's black collar could change his voice and cover her breasts.))

The prince slept soundly after she bid him a good night. He was used to a kingdom that was quite far off, and easily woke up eariler than the cute princess. He woke and grasped his sword, checking on the princess before he walked out of his room and got dressed in more appropriate attire. He then walked down to the royal kitchen to get himself something to eat before he had to start following the young princess around.

(( sounds like a good idea to me))

Harlie slept awhile longer before the maids came in and ushered her awake. She slowly rose with a yawn before her violet orbs scanned the room for Alexander. Her brow only lifted a smidgen before the maids pulled her from bed and pushed off to bath. She sighed slowly as she was undressed and helped into a rather large tub and eased into the warm water. She rested her head against the high back of the tub, the maids scurried out of the room and began picking out her clothes for the day. Laying them on the bed before they left to go gather her breakfast.
