Witches are bitches (modern day)

Chrystabel followed the group into the police station. Athena was the one in the coven doing the heavy lifting most of the time and Chrystabel was surprised that she was effective in taking out the cops as well.

"We need to get Ezrorath and end this... NOW."

Chrystabel nodded and closed her eyes and concentrated to try to connected with Ezrorath. "Where are you now?" Chrystabel muttered and she could see through the eyes of Ezrorath who was looking at a pretty lady and Ezrorath told the lady something before she walked away.

"I think Ezrorath is still in the police station," Chrystabel said. "He is in one of the rooms, and spoke to a lady."

======================================================================

Ezrorath felt something was amiss and grabbed a limp armored cop and kissed him. She vomited into his mouth and muttered a spell and the cop woke up. "Go take care of the intruders." Ezrorath said and the cop nodded.

"Do we have a plan?"

"The plan is to take down Ezrorath at all cost," Fion said. "He will murder more if we allow him to stay."

Fion reached the cell area and muttered a spell and everything became completely silent and she nodded at Athena and Athena rushed inside and grabbed a plump cop and choked him. Fion kicked a fat cop and the cop flew into the wall and slumped to the ground and rushed at the remaining cop who managed to fire a few rounds into Athena but she shoved him into the bars with so much force that it crushed his bones.

Athena looked at the plump cop in her arms and he was crushed as well and released him. The whole area was silent, and even the gunshots did not make any sounds and Fion entered and spotted an old cop, limp on at the desk and the gates open.

Walking into the cell area, there were 2 fat cops looking into the cell and they did not notice anyone coming and Athena moved behind them and choked them. Fion looked into the cell and there were several dead cops and gangsters on the ground. The silent spell ran out and an alarm was heard and Fion gave out a muffled curse, "FUCK..." She looked at the fat cops and gestured, "Sleep." The cops went limp and were tossed into the cell.

The cell doors were closed and Fion checked it and it seemed locked. "Let's go find Ezrorath, the bodies are warm, and they are recently murdered," Fion said, "No time to lose."

A few armored cops rushed into the cell area and fired at the ladies as they exited and Athena rushed at them. Many rounds landed on Athena but she reached the 4 cops and grabbed them and ran into the wall. Even with their armor, they hit the wall with so much impact that broke their bones and they twitched on the ground. "No! Athena!" Fion said and checked on Athena as she suffered many gunshot wounds and was bleeding badly. "We could have taken them out, you did not have to do this..." Athena felt no pain but was bleeding as there were a few rounds that went through her. She could not stand up anymore and Fion gestured and closed some of her wounds.

"I should not have done this," Fion said. "I need you to go find Ezrorath, go first, I need a while here."

=================================================================================

A few other witches searched the police station for Ezrorath and entered the security room where 2 old cops had their necks broken. They went room by room and searched. "Did you see the intruders?" A police sergeant asked them and the ladies were confused and the sergeant looked suspicious. "Wait a minute..." The sergeant quickly drew his pistol as the illusion dissolved and he saw the 4 ladies. "INTRUDERS!"

There were other cops rushing into the corridor. "Wait, we are..." A witch shouted and the sergeant shoved her into the ground and cuffed her. Anohter witch gestured and all the light bulbs broke and the corridor was completely dark and they attempted to run away. The plan just went south.

=================================================================================

"What are you doing here?" A lieutenant asked a beautiful lady that went up and hugged him.

"They are coming, and I need your body." The lady said and covered the lieutenant's mouth.

Moments later, the lieutenant exited the room and approached a few armored cops. "The terrorists are inside, many officers are murdered. Take no prisoners."

At first Lilith followed Fion to the cells and from the carnage they found there, even before Athena caused more of it, it was obvious that Ezrorath had been there mere moments earlier but no longer. She closed her eyes again but nothing came so she decided to as the rest of the witches and go off on her own in search of the demon. She ran back up the stairs and then up another flight to the floor where the detectives had their desks. By the time she reached the floor all the light bulbs shattered and the corridor went dark. This would of course mean there was some sort of fighting going on but it was not with Ezrorath. She was sure of it and thus she continued up to the floor where the swat team resided and just as she could see above the top steps of the stairs she noticed four heavily armoured cops coming towards her with their weapons drawn.
"3. 2. 1." she counted down as if to herself and all the doors along the corridor opened at the same time causing two of the cops to run right into one door each and being thrown back as if they had been hit by a car. A few shots were fired from each of them but the bullets hit the ceiling or the stairs leading up to the chief's floor.

There were still two more coming at her and they had seen her, slowed down and aimed their weapons at her.
"Hello boys," she said and smiled.
"I suppose there's no way I can convince you that I'm simply looking for a bathroom is there?"
There was no response so she nodded at them, focused on their weapons and pulled them out of their hands throwing them down the stairs. The two cops however did not run away, they both reached for their side arms and Lilith took a deep breath.
"Really?" she said and thrust her arms forwards with the palms of her hands open as if to push something away and the two cops were sent flying backwards as if picked up by a strong wind. Another few shots were fired into the ceiling and there, at the end of the corridor she saw a woman slumped against the wall and a fifth cop staring at her.

"There you are," she said and smiled at the camouflaged demon.
"Remember me," she said and pulled out a cigarette from her pocket, stuck it between her lips and lit it.
She took a deep drag and blew the smoke through her nose as she rose from the floor and started to hover towards Ezrorath while twirling her lighter in her left hand as if trying to figure out whether to put it back into her pocket or not. In fact she was contemplating trying a trick she had tried only once before and when she did she had burned down the garden shed at the orphanage and caused quite a bit of damage to Ms Barrington's roses in the process. There was no time for doubt now though and she lit the lighter, focused on the flame while holding her hand over it for a few seconds before throwing a ball of fire at the cop at the other end of the corridor.

The ball grew in size as it hurtled down the corridor. Seconds later there was a loud inhuman scream and Lilith hovered forwards towards it only to be mete by Ezrorath in her demonic form rushing towards her. Parts of the demon's skin was on fire but it only seemed to have slowed her down. As Ezrorath leaped at her ready to strike Lilith only just managed to dodge the attack by rolling under it. Once she was still again she turned and started to tear loose the door and hurl them at the demon while all around her the fire she had thrown started to take. The fire alarm began mixing with the intruder alarm and she realised she was trapped, between the fire and Ezrorath. There was only one way out and that was to kill that thing.

She began throwing anything she could lay her eyes on at the demon, aiming at its head rather than its body while hoping back up would arrive soon. There were at least six other witches at the police station after all, and that thing, Athena, Fion's macabre little puppet.

Chrystabel saw the pretty lady and behind her were 2 armored cops. "Uh-oh." Chrystabel muttered and ran. Unfortunately for her, the people chasing her moved with superhuman speeds and Chrystabel was tackled and overpowered. Chrystabel released an invisible force that threw everyone away from her and she got up and ran again. "Damn it." Chrystabel muttered and unfortunately for her, the people chasing her was faster than her. The lady smiled and looked at Chrystabel. "Such a simple bitch," She said and pulled down Chrystabel's panties.

As Chrystabel was about to mutter a spell, the lady shoved a baton into her and Chrystabel screamed in pain. "You are not going to trick us again." She said and an armored cop stomped on Chrystabel's face and everything went black.

===========================================================================

The cops converged on the other witches and a few cops could not move as though some spell transfixed them and some cops collapsed into a slumber, but there were simply too many cops and the cops fired their guns and tazers at the witches and with some of the cops being possessed, the witches were eventually subdued and tazered unconscious.

Athena was up and running again but Fion has spent a lot of her energy fixing her. "Well at least you can do the heavy lifting now." Fion said and Athena followed her up the stairs. Waiting at the stairwell, Athena waited for 2 armored cops to enter before grabbing them. Athena crushed their throats and tossed them aside like they were rag dolls and Fion tapped her shoulder and Athena dragged the cops aside and waited in ambush again.

A motorcycle cop entered the stairwell and his mouth was covered and he was choked silently. Then Fion heard a scream nearby and quickly rushed over. Fion opened the door and saw fire around her. "What the hell?" Fion muttered and saw Lilith cornered by Ezrorath. There were still some flames on Ezrorath and it noticed Fion.

"Demons are immune to fire, you can only burn off their shells," Fion said and Ezrorath decided that Lilith was not a threat and turned her attention to Fion instead. Fion stepped aside as Ezrorath rushed over, only to see Athena grab it and they crashed through the wall onto the grass patch on the outside. Ezrorath raked its claws on Athena but Athena felt no pain and pounded the demon with a few fists and grabbed it as it was trying to escape. Ezrorath felt something was wrong as all Athena wanted to do was to grab and subdue it even though Ezrorath was practically ripping off her skin with every claw.

There were a few cops watching and did not understand what was going on as a large muscular lady fought and grappled with a leathery skin demon. Then there was a large glow on Athena's chest and Ezrorath was now trying to get away from Athena, but Athena's chest was opening a portal and she started to stuff the demon into her chest. Fion cut her finger and draw some sigils in the air and muttered a spell and the portal began sucking everything near it into the portal and Ezrorath got absorbed and the portal closed.

"Fuck..." Fion cursed as the other witches were nowhere to be seen.

Fion walked over and helped Lilith up. "I need you to gather everyone back to the van," Fion said and saw an old police sergeant entering the corridor. "I'm in no mood for this shit..." The sergeant reached for his baton and Fion gestured at him and he fell asleep. She found one of the witches in cuffs and stared at a short plump cop beside her. "RELEASE HER!" Fion commanded and the cop looked dazed and unlocked her.

"Now, where are the others?" Fion muttered.

"Awesome timing," Lilith said as Fion showed up with Athena and managed to draw the demon's attention away from her.
Outside sirens could be heard, no doubt the BFD responding to the fire.
"Thanks," she added when Fion helped her up and then nodded.
She had a pretty good idea that the other witches were just downstairs and while Athena dealt with Ezrorath and Fion dealt with the cop entering the corridor from one of the offices she ran downstairs and as she entered the dark corridor she wished she had known an illumination spell but her eyes soon adjusted to the dim lights and saw shadows moving about in a manner that suggested they were cops subduing the other witches, or some of them at least. She waved her hand at the shadows and they flew off into the darker, deeper end of the corridor.

Lilith then woke up the passed out witches and informed them that Fion had ordered them to gather at the van. She counted four witches, which meant that the one responsible for summoning the demon was still lost somewhere. She closed her eyes and focused on a memory on the young witch's face but the first thing she felt was a searing pain in her lower abdomen that caused her to cry out but then she saw a lady's face and then a the rough sole of a military style boot coming at her. But where was she. Further in, or downstairs.

The cops outside were shocked to see the large lady fight the demon. The lady sneaked up to a police sergeant and covered his mouth. The armored cops grabbed 2 fat cops and snapped their necks. The sergeant was dragged into a police car and the lady stared into his eyes. "Get us out of here now!"

One of the minor demons implanted by Ezrorath escaped, but had no links with the witches in the coven as Ezrorath was sent back to hell.

======================================================================

The police moved in small groups trying to look for the terrorists responsible. A few cops found Chrystal unconscious in cuffs and guarded her to be taken into custody. It was a bloody night, many lives were lost and everyone was a little jumpy.

Athena was drained and Fion helped her out towards the van. Suddenly, a flashbang exploded beside them and Fion was blinded and a group of armored cops rushed over and shot tazers into Fion and Athena. Fion was shocked and the cops came over and cuffed her. "These ladies are dangerous," A sergeant said and tazered Athena and Fion until they were incapicitated.

A police captain walked over and spotted Fion and shook her head. "She will be pissed," and he gestured the other cops away. "I'm not sure how many laws she broke, but it seemed like she took care of that monster. A witch saw Fion getting taken down and ran over as the cops pointed their guns at her. "Don't worry, she's ok."

"Everyone is scared," The captain said, "Get your girls out of here before the feds come. I can deal with this."

The captain met Fion in a few encounters and saw how powerful she was. He was not even sure if the prison system could keep her, and whether she would be back for vengeance, but he would rather Fion be on his side, at least when they encounter things they cannot deal with.

As the pain in her lower abdomen subsided Lilith had a flash vision of Chrystabel being dragged away by a few cops that actually seemed to be cops, although at this point it was impossible to be sure about anything. She looked down the hollow between the stairs and there they were hauling a seemingly unconscious Chrystabel off towards the cells in the basement. She leaped over the railing and floated down until she stood in front of the cops.
"I'll take the girl and the two of you will turn around and just walk away. There are quite a few of your colleagues already down. It would be a real shame if that happened to you too. Wouldn't it?"
It was of course to a large extent a bluff since most of the carnage at the precinct had been caused by either Ezrorath or by Athena but these cops didn't know that and considering that she had simply floated down in front of them she hoped they wouldn't dare call her bluff. If they did she might just have to hurt them. Not that she would have any issues hurting cops but she was quite certain Fion wouldn't like it since these two didn't seem to be possessed.

The two cops stared at the young redhead hovering before them for a while, not quite believing what they saw but eventually they put down Chrystabel, turned around and walked back up the stairs. Once they reached the ground floor they started running towards the back entrance. Lilith grabbed Chrystabel who was heavier than she looked due to her being unconscious and carried her upstairs and out as well. The van was waiting outside but Fion and Athena also seemed to be in trouble.
"Great job picking the worst day to join a coven," she muttered under her breath and put Chrystabel down in the back of the van and turned to see what she could do to get Fion and her Golem out of trouble so they could all just get back to the house. She then smiled as she saw the situation solve itself when the captain ordered her to be released. It was probably a good thing she didn't have to intervene because she felt the effects of the potion starting to wear off.

Most of the time, when a demon was let loose, it will possess some poor human and commit lots of sins. Eventually, the demon will be killed by other humans, and the witches did not need to do a thing. This time, it was Ezrorath, a named Demon, and it had possessed one of the coven, and she was killed in the process. The whole fiasco created a big mess, there was several mass murders, and many police officers were killed. It was almost impossible to kill a named Demon. They are not really affected by mortal magic, and they are immune to non-magical weapons and fire. One of the ways to kill it is to use relics, which may have consequences, otherwise, another demon is needed to defeat a demon, and if botched will result in having 2 demons.

======================================================================

As the van returned to the Coven, the plump cheerful woman helped everyone inside. She had more potions to give out and the unconscious ones were force-fed the potions and they woke up shortly after. "Y'all rest now. I'm going out to get y'all some Dunks for breakie tomorrow."

The injured witches were helped to their room and Lilith was provided a guest room. The plump cheerful woman made sure she had extra pillows but did not say much to her. "See you in the morning!"

Fion woke up with a grapefruit taste in her mouth. Her body hurts like hell and she could taste some blood in her mouth. She looked around and she was back at the Coven. She was brought to her room where she changed into more comfortable clothes to rest for the night. She was still a little worried about how to contain the murders and whether it will bring more trouble to the coven.

Fion performed a healing ritual and tried to sleep it off, or at least have as much rest as she can until she was needed again.

Lilith had intended to ask the plump older woman if she was this Jemima Frupp her mother had mentioned in her journal when they got back but with the effect of the potion now gone she was exhausted and had a splitting head ache. She had pushed herself further than she ever hed before. She drank the potion offered to her, which she assumed to be some kind of healing potion, or to protect her from any lingering influence from her encounter with Ezrorath, and then thanked the cheerful looking older woman for the bed and the extra pillows.
"See you in the morning," she mumbled and was asleep before her head hit the pillows.
She had not even bothered to undress except too kick off her shoes.

She slept like dead all through the night without even the slightest hint of dreams to disturb her rest and in the morning she woke up with a ray of sun shining on her face. Judging from the angle of the sun it was still fairly early in the morning bu she felt a lot more rested than she had expected to and stretched her body before sitting up to look for her shoes. Though if she was honest she really could use a shower and fresh clothes.

She grabbed her bag and took out the only clean clothes she had left in it, fresh panties, black jeans and a black Iron Maiden, Number of the Beast, t-shirt and went looking for the bathroom.

Chystabel woke up with a headache and a big bruise on her face. "Oh no!" She shouted and ran quickly down.

"What's wrong dearie?" The plump woman asked.

"Do you have any potions or ointments for the bruise?" Chrystabel asked. "How can I go out looking like this?"

"Those are called bruises," The plump woman laughed. "They appear when you get hit, because the impact causes..."

"I know they are bruises!" Chrystabel cried. "I don't want them, they hurt and they are so ugly... Also, my lips are busted..."

"What you need is a plastic surgeon and some makeup," The plump woman laughed. "I can't work wonders you know."

"But you can!" Chrystabel pouted. "You must have something in the lab! Magic solves everything!"

"Look, everything has a price," The plump woman said. "Your wounds will heal normally, and besides, several of you got injured because of the fight. No one will laugh at you for being brave!"

Chrystabel saw Lilith approaching and said. "I can't be seen like that! You have to help! Please! I'm dying here!"

"Be I still need to go outside," Chrystable said. "Please! I can't go out like this!"

"You were already healed by potions, otherwise you would be in much pain today," The plump woman said. "Everything other wound is purely cosmetic."

"There is always a price," The plump woman said. "You look better now, but you have to pay the price, maybe you age faster, or your hair turns white... It is like selling your soul for more power."

"Well, if I get white hair, I can dye it pink or baby blue easier!" Chrystabel said. "Unless you want me to summon up another demon to remove my wounds."

"Haven't you learnt your lesson?" The plump woman asked.

"Lesson learned!" Chrystabel said. "I won't summon another demon again. Can you remove the wounds now?"

Chrystabel seemed very certain that the plump woman can fix her, and it was just to wear her down, and it finally worked. The plump woman reached into her sleeve and found a pill and passed it to Chrystabel. "Don't tell Fion about this."

Fion woke up with the annoying sound of a teenager begging. She placed her pillow on her head and closed her eyes. Feeling really worn out and beaten down, "Damn it, just 5 more minutes!" Fion muttered and cast a silence spell to have peace and quiet.

As soon as the silence spell expires, Fion can hear Chrystabel again. Fion gave a big yawn, stretched, and reluctantly left her bed. "What now?"

Fion yawned again as she walked down the corridor and could feel aches and pains all over. Then she saw Chrystable and the plump woman. Behind them was Lilith with some clothes with her. Fion was confused as the commotion was gone and she walked over to the plump woman and said, "Feeling much better now but will need something really strong to recover."

"All of you think potions can do wonders!" The plump woman said. "Do you know how long it takes..."

"Yes, we took potion classes," Fion said pointing at Lilith. "And give her one too. We promise to go out and get more ingredients, you know, many of which you may be able to find at the supermarket today, we don't need to go harvest them in the woods..."

"All of you want short cuts..." The plump woman said. "In life..."

"Thank you very much," Fion said and grabbed 2 small test tubes with cork stoppers and passed one to Lilith.

Having found the upstairs bathroom to be occupied Lilith walks downstairs where there seemed to be quite a commotion going on. It was Chrystabel and the plump woman having some sort of disagreement, or rather, Chrystabel throwing a small tantrum about the bruises on her face as she realised once she was within range to hear what they were talking about. She stopped and watched until she saw the plump woman finally yield to Chrystabel's begging.
"Good morning," she said and was about to ask if there was a bathroom down stairs, or if she'd have to go back up and wait, when Fion appeared looking a bit worse for wear but then she had done most of the work last night. The plump lady didn't look all too impressed when even Fion wanted a little something to help her recover. She began arguing again, this time with Fion but in the end she gave in to Fion's request as well, passing her a test tube and then another to Lilith who at first wasn't sure she should take it but even though she had slept well and was rested with no signs of a head ache, which was surprising considering last night's efforts, but her body ached a bit so she took it and drank the contents. It was slightly bitter but then, no one ever said potions were supposed to taste good.
"I was looking for a shower," she then said and smiled at the plump lady who did seem to be the one in charge of the house.
"Also I came here looking for someone called Jemima Frupp. You wouldn't happen to be her would you?"

"Jemima Frupp was our high priestess, she has been missing for 2 years," The plump lady said, looking very surprised. "I'm Peggy, the potion master and hall master, do you have information on our high priestess?"

"But first, go take your shower in the common bathroom over there," The plump lady escorted Lilith to the bathroom. It was a little confusing as all the doors look the same and they are not marked.

===================================================================

Chrystabel went back to her room and swallowed the pill. It was bitter and awful tasting but it acts really fast as the bruises and cuts quickly healed and Chrystabel was back to normal again. Her body still aches and her muscles were sore, perhaps there was also a potion for that but Chrystabel decided that she had enough magic in her and checked the mirrors again to make sure that she looks okay before going down to the dining room for breakfast.

Fion drank the potion and as she was walking away, she heard 'Jemima Frupp' and turned back. Fion was curious and asked, "Jemima Frupp, haven't heard that name for a long time, how do you know her?"

Fion was now more curious about Lilith, but since it was still early in the morning, perhaps she would like to know more after breakfast where everyone got their shit together.

Caught a bit off guard Lilith looked at Fion and Peggy the potion master.
"That's probably a very short answer that might require a very long explanation," she said and nodded at Peggy's suggestion of taking a shower first.
"The short answer is that I think my mum knew her and if the explanation can wait until I've showered I will answer all and any questions you might have."
She looked at Fion and smiled before disappearing into the bathroom where she took off the sweaty, grimy and slightly seared clothes she had worn and slept in for a few days.

She stepped into the shower and almost moaned with pleasure at the feeling of hot water against her skin. Six days of washing off in public bathrooms and sleeping in the same clothes were all washed away in a matter of the few seconds it took for the water to soak her hair and the colour of the water going down the drain was evidence of how long it had been since she had last showered. She washed her hair twice to get all of the filth out of it and then as she stood in front of the full body mirror on the inside of the door looking at herself naked she felt more refreshed than she had in a long time, refreshed, full of energy and hungry like a wolf.

She got dressed and was about to go back upstairs to stuff her dirty clothes into the bag until she could have them washed but figured that since there was a good chance she might be staying with the coven for an indeterminable time she instead placed them into a wicker basket that seemed to be used for dirty laundry. She then headed for the kitchen and could feel both Fion's and Peggy's eyes on her, as well as two of the other witches from the night before. She smiled nervously and looked at them all one after the other.
"Good morning," she said and bit her bottom lip.
"I'm Lilith but no one ever calls me Lil, ok?"
She did her best to sound tough but she truly despised being called Lil, or even Lili.

"Hi Lily!" Chrystabel said. "I'm Chrystabel or Chrys."

Chrystabel pointed at the bacon beside her pancakes. "The bacon that Aunty Peggy makes are the best! Eggs are ok..."
One of the girls at the end of the table muttered a spell and the pepper moved from the other end to her.

"Lily, where are you from?" Another girl asked curiously. Seems like everyone wants to know more about her.

The plump woman came over and refilled everyone's glasses with orange juice and there was a bag of oranges getting squeezed by an unseen servant at the kitchen sink. "I've more coming, don't worry!"

Fion washed up and came down to the dining room and sat at the seniors' table. The plump woman walked over and asked, "So, can she stay?"

"You are the hall master, so you decide," Fion said. "I'm just the enforcer and discipline master."

All the girls quieten down when Fion is in the room, they stopped using magic and actually walked to get what they wanted.

After some discussion, Fion walked over and sat opposite Lilith, where the other girls moved aside to give Fion space. "If you need a place to stay, you can stay, the hall master will find you a room."

"Some house rules if you want to stay," Fion said.

Always do your homework, go to classes and continue to train.
Obey the hall master, and the high priestess when she is back.
Check your ingredients before use, contaminated ingredients can easily make a spell go wrong.
Join the harvest, we need ingredients for potions, it is everyone's responsibility.
No hexes done in the house -- this is consecrated ground and hexes will weaken the magic and fail.
White magic is ok.
No curses or malevolent magic against others in the coven.
Read the fine print -- magic is binding, and when you deal with the devil, understand all the terms.

Watch out for hunters, there are many who want to bring trouble into the coven, if you are part of it, they may harm you.

Fion left the room to another meeting and the dining room started to be noisy again.

"It's Lilith please," she said when it seemed that neither Chrystabel nor the other girl had noticed the tone in her voice.
She then sat down at one of the empty seats around the table and looked at the breakfast spread Aunt Peggy had put out, bacon, pancakes, eggs, both scrambled and over easy. She grabbed a piece of bread and stuck it in the toaster before plating up a couple of pieces of bacon some scrambled eggs and on top of the bacon an over easy egg.
"According to my birth certificate I was born in Queens," she then answered the other witch's question.
"Never really knew my mum though," she added, and cut through the over easy egg and through a piece of bacon which she then put in her mouth, chewed and swallowed.
She made no mention of the journal she had received on her twelfth birthday
"I grew up at Ms Patel's orphanage for girls in Brooklyn"
Having said that just as Fion sat down opposite her and drew in her attention Lilith listened and nodded. She had nowhere else to go. Back in New York she was probably wanted for questioning in connection with the fire in the garden shed of Ms Patel's home for orphaned girls, and here she'd be able to find out more about her heritage and learn how to better control her powers and explore their full potential, and hopefully also how to avoid headaches when she pushed them to the limit.
"I'd love to stay," she said and smiled at Fion who then left and when she looked up she realised that Peggy was gone as well.
Perhaps the two older women were off to have a meeting about her, to coordinate their questions for after breakfast.

Chrystabel was glad that the whole demon episode is over, but she has lost a close friend. There was a slight relief but the mood went rather solemn as Chrystabel returned to her room and went over to help the other girls to pack the belongings. It was quite hard to control her emotions as she started to pack the items of her friend.

Tears was rolling down her face as she saw the t-shirt her friend used to wear. "I need to take a minute." Chrystabel said and returned to her room to cry for a while. The body will be collected later in the day and they will be choosing her favorite clothes and belongings for the funeral.

There were too many things going on. The senior witches had to inform the other friendly covens about what happened. Then one of them had to go to the morgue to collect the body and organize the funeral for the dead witch. There was also a matter of finances and curriculum to be discussed and finally, the matter of Lilith. After the meeting, Fion and Peggy went to look for Lilith.

"Hi Lilith, the council has discussed a few things, and we can allow you to stay in the coven, but you need to follow the rules and go for classes," Fion said. "I'm the discipline master and will punish you when you are at fault. Peggy here will show you to your room."

"First, I need to know your source of power," Fion said. "There are a few types of witches. One from a pure bloodline of witches. One that sells their soul in exchange of power. One practices white magic and hones their skill and draws power from the leylines. One who's powers come from a bonded demon that was summoned, trapped and empowering them."

"We are all witches here, so tell me, so I can refer you to a mentor," Lilith said.

After breakfast, which had been an odd mix of curiousity and solemnity due to the loss of a witch to sloppy summoning and her own arrival amongst them, Lilith went up to the room she had slept in and grabbed her mother's journal, her Walkman and a mix tape from the bag and while the other witches went upstairs to clear out the dead witch's room she went outside to sit on the back porch waiting for Fion and whomever to start the questioning. Perhaps it could have been a bonding moment for her to at least be present when the other witches packed and mourned but she also didn't want to intrude on their grief. The tape she had grabbed started off with Joy Division's Atmosphere followed by Devo's Whip It and about half way through Talking Heads' Psycho Killer Fion came out to find her bobbing her head and singing Fafafa fafafa far better run run run run run away oh oh psycho killer.
She stopped the tape before she stopped singing as she looked up at Fion, nodding once again as she was informed that it was now official that they would let her stay at the coven's house.
"My source of power ... ummm ..."
At first she thought perhaps Fion was referring to some kind of charm through which she channelled her powers but the as it was explained to her she nodded and picked up her mother's journal lying next to her on the wooden bench.
"According to this I am supposedly of the first category."
She opens the journal to the first page which contains the beginning of a long list of names in small print that goes on for three pages, the early ones being mostly Celtic but somewhere at the bottom of the first page the names start looking more like traditionally Welsh and Irish names. She shows the list to Fion and points to the very first name at the top of page 1: Morgan LeFay (by Myrrdin Wylt b.k.a Merlin.)
"Though the court did of course declare my mother legally insane and locked her away somewhere so for all I know this list could easily be pure nonsense. I mean Merlin??? What the fuck's that about?"
She hesitated a bit and added that if that list was nothing but the nonsensical ramblings of a delusion woman she had no idea where her powers came from. She had not sold her soul or summoned any demon to merge with her. Which really only left one other option, leylines, but she had no idea what they were so the way she figured it that ruled that option out as well.

Chrystabel and her group were closest to the girl that died, so they were responsible to bring her favorite items to the morgue before the body was transported to the funeral home. As the girls left the coven, they found heavy police presence on the streets. At the morgue, police checked their IDs before allowing them in buildings.

Chrystabel and her group ignored the police as they had a funeral to prepare and they met with the people from the funeral home to collect the body, the girls could not hold back their tears again as they saw the body.

On the way to the funeral home, the hearse was stopped and as the cops were checking the IDs, gunshots were heard. The cops rushed ahead and more gunshots were heard while the hearse was asked to do a u-turn and the girls were curious but did not see what happened.

Soon, the girls reached the funeral home and they helped set up the room with photos and other items from the dead girl. The mood was solemn, and they did not expect many people to come as the witches had not much friends outside the coven.

A few hours later, the casket was ready and the funeral home did a great job making the girl look normal and peaceful. It was going to be a long day and saying goodbye was not easy.
