A Warrior Over All

She sighed in her sleep, curled up happily against him. She didn't notice when he left the bed, but she curled up into the warm space he had left behind. It was several hours, still, until the sun rose in the sky, looking over the nearly destroyed city. After a little while, Shoni woke, stretched, and pulled the blanket over her head, blocking the light from the sun. She was still more than exhausted from all that had happened the previous day, from meeting Callar, to the battle and losing her father. She had tried to go back to sleep, but after ten minutes of trying to get comfortable in the bed, she gave up and pulled the covers back, causing her to blink a little. It was then that she realized Callar was sitting in front of the window, still awake. She smiled at him sweetly and slipped out of the bed, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Morning, my king."

He smiled his hands rubbing her arms around his neck. He kissed her hands lightly turning around looking at her smiling down into her eyes. â??Good morning my queen.â? He leaned in kissing her softly his hands brushing her hair and back. â??How did you sleep my love?â? he looked into her eyes having a sudden flash of seeing her beingâ?¦his eyes closed blocking out the vision.

Shoni thought she saw a flicker of something in his face. But just as quickly as it was there, it disappeared. She blinked and kissed him back, pressing her still nude body against him. "Mmm...I slept quite well, my stallion. I didn't even notice you get up." She couldn't help herself, and she nipped his jaw gently.

He smiled kissing her lips lightly growling as he moved down to kiss her neck and shoulder. â??I am glad my mare I wished you to sleep well.â? He nuzzled closer nickering softly into her ear. His hands rubbed over her back scratching lightly at it as he felt his love for her growing every second that they were together. Leaning back he looked into her eyes, â??Now my love we have a long day ahead of us once we step out of that door should we get dressed and go now or wait a little while?â?

She shivered when she felt his nails scraped own her back. Shoni loved having her body pressed against his, and she wanted to stay like this forever. But she did know that if they were to stay in each other's arms, they wouldn't be going anywhere to do what they needed to. "Mmm...as much as I like staying like this, we do need to get dressed and get going. There's far too much to do today, and we can't stay in here forever."

He nodded quickly starting to get dressed pulling his robes on then the belt. After he was dressed he started helping her on with her clothes and then armor finally buckling her sword belt on his hands wrapped around her from behind before he slipped her cornet back into her hair. â??My queen.â? And kissed her neck lightly.

Of course, she couldn't help herself when it came to him getting dressed. She would slip her hands under his clothes to feel his bare chest. But after a few minutes of playing with him, she started to put her own clothes on. Shoni smiled as he helped her get dressed, buckling the armor together, and using her sword belt as an excuse to wrap his arms around her. A light blush touched her cheeks when he placed the coronet on her head and kissed her. "Mmm...only because you're my king, Callar."

He smiled kissing her again tempted to undo all their work and strip her out of her clothes again and make love to her. he pushed that thought away and gently took her hand leading her out of the door and down stairs, there were already many of the town warriors gathered waiting for her. they had taken a vote the night before and it was decided that she should lead them after the skills in leadership that she had shown.

It was all she could do to not hide behind him when he led her outside, seeing the crowd of people gathering around the inn. As it was, her face was bright red, and only his holding her hand was keeping her remotely sane for the moment. "W-what is all of this about?" She squeezed his hand tighter, and she moved closer to Callar.

One of the men moved forward kneeling then quickly all of them followed suit. â??Shoni we took a vote last night. The leadership you showed and the way you handled yourself in battleâ?¦we would like you to become our queen and lead us.â? Callar couldnâ??t help but smile as he moved a step behind her gently insisting that she remain in the forefront as he whispered, â??Now you are a queen in this world too.â?

Queen?!?! Shoni's head was reeling enough from the idea that she was queen among the spirit horses. And that was just now starting to sink in. But now that the warriors had held a vote, and with it, made her a queen also...well, she felt like she was going to faint. She glanced around for Callar, only to see that he was a step behind her. "I...uh...oh dear..." She blinked and shook herself. "Y-you all want me to be your queen?" Her eyes glanced around at the men gathered, all of them kneeling in front of her. She passed her hand over her face. What would her father say if he saw her now?

He smiled gently resting his hands on her shoulders leaning down, â??I know your shocked but they canâ??t stay kneeling all day or they wonâ??t be able to work well later.â? He whispered into her ear softly giving advice to his newly crowned queen but letting her be the one in charge.

Shoni nodded and finally found her voice. "Please...stand. We still have a lot of work to be doing. A lot of our people were slaughtered in the battle, and it would do them a great disservice to just sit around and mourn them, while the rest of our town still needs help." She was slowly finding her feet in leading these people...her people. "These families need more permanent homes, and the city walls need to be reinforced."

The men all stood and shouted in agreement before one of them brought up a problem. â??My ladyâ?¦when we built this town the lumber was plenty but now it is nearly gone we donâ??t nearly have enough around her to rebuildâ?¦â? it was true that through the day to day consumption of wood they had cleared quite a bit of land.

She knew it to be true that they were lacking quite a bit of resources. Of all the stores of building supplies that they had had, the most depleted over the years had been the wood. Not only that, it was the first to burn when their city was being attacked. She sighed and chewed on her lower lip, trying to think about their options. Their homes were very vulnerable in this state, and something needed to be done. However, they couldn't afford to wait for the merchants, since anyone could come and strike at their poor defenses. "You're right. Plus, we can't wait for assistance. Who knows what could happen to us in the mean time?" She rumpled her hair a little and sighed. She could only think of one thing to do, but she wanted to make sure her men were comfortable with the idea. "What would you men have us do?"

They looked at her looking at each other. There were a few snickers about her not knowing how to lead but they were quickly silenced by the others. one of them spoke up, â??wellâ?¦we canâ??t defend the town as it isâ?¦and we canâ??t repair it soâ?¦we should leave, and go somewhere that is safer for all of our families.â? There were many that agreed with him and soon the majority was thinking that would be best.

Shoni blushed when she heard the chuckles, but she could tell they weren't about to say who it was that was laughing. Instead, she spoke up. "Look. I figured that was the only thing we could do. I'm sorry if I'm new to leading all of you, but it wasn't my choice in the first place." She shook her head and took a deep breath before saying anything else. "All right. Since we are going to have to leave, I need all of you to ready your families, friends, and everyone else you know, so we can leave.

Most of the men nodded and they all quickly dispersed going to get people ready. There were a few that were vocal about their dislike about being led by a woman but with a quick glance from Callar they hung their heads and walked out. Callar slipped his arms around his queenâ??s waist kissing her neck lightly nuzzling against her. â??Well done love you are proving to be a strong leader.â?

She sighed and turned around in his arms, burying her face in his broad chest. “Callar, my love...I don’t know if I am ready for this...how am I supposed to know if my decisions are for the better of the people? How do we know if those who attacked the village in the first place aren’t just out there waiting for us to leave what little safety we have left in this ruined town?” The girl was struggling to maintain a little control over her emotions now, but it almost seemed like a losing battle.

He stroked her hair nuzzling it softly. â??The struggle of all good leadersâ?¦â??how do I know the right path.â??â? He tilted her chin back looking into her eyes. â??The only thing you can do is make what seems to be the best choice at the time and then take what is sent your way.â? He kissed her lightly. â??Never second guess youâ??re choices after they are too late to changing.â? His hand brushed her hair back, â??But if you want to be sure they are goneâ?¦lets go out and see my queen.â?

She sighed and nodded, cuddling even more against him. She had always dreamed of being in command, even when she was a young child. She had always wanted to be a warrior princess. Instead, here she was, a warrior queen, and it was nothing like she had imagined. There was so much responsibility, and it was hard for her to handle with ease. If anything, she needed Callar’s advice and gentle guidance in this situation. “I...I think it would be best if we did go see...just to make sure the villagers are safer on the journey. Besides, I miss riding on your back.”

He smiled swatting her ass lightly before growling into her ear. â??As opposed to other parts of me?â? he chuckled and rushed to the door playfully sticking his tongue out at her before he was out the door. Rushing around to the side of it he allowed the magic that held him in human form to dissipate and he returned to his equine shape coming out to stand near the door already saddled and bridled.

She laughed and licked her lips, following right behind him. There were other people around, and she didn’t want to lose what little dignity and credibility she had in the eyes of those who would be following her. She grinned when she saw him already standing there as the white stallion she had first enjoyed the company of. She ran her hand over his neck and murmured, “I love riding other parts of you, my love.” She quickly swung up onto his back, straddling him. “Let’s go.”

He nickered lightly at her teasing comment his mind touching hers again. â??You little minx you are going to make me hard with comments like that.â? He started off toward where the gate of the city hung badly damaged from their hinges. Sniffing the air carefully he continued out into the field. His senses were focused on finding some sign of the enemies that they had driven off the night before. There was nothing so he relaxed a little and started to move his back as he walked in such away as to rub up against his lover on his back, right between her legs.

She growled lustfully when she realized just what he was doing to her. She leaned forward and nipped at his ear lightly, planning on teasing him just as he was her. Of course, a great deal of her attention was focused on the surrounding land, looking for any sign of their earlier attackers. Even with his link with her, she didn't sense anything nearby, causing her to relax a little. She started playing with him a little more, raking her nails down his back, wanting to make him shudder in pleasure. Of course, she didn't plan on getting off his back yet, so she was going to torture him for a good long while.
