A Warrior Over All

She noticed they slowed for a split second, but then their pace picked back up. "Callar, it seems that our show of force is not doing any good..." She sighed and bit her lip, before she drew her sword. "My darling, I love you, but if we are to give some kind of reprieve for our people, we should face them. It's the only way we are going to be able to slow them down enough for Marius and Cecania to get them to the river." She shifted her weight on his back, still holding to her sword. "Unless you have some other plan."

He laughed. “Love do you really think that was all the show of power that I had in mind?” he chuckled under her his eyes settling on the enemy coming at them. “Point your sword at them love and let me do the rest, just led me your power.” He lowered his head and started to chant in a language that she had never heard before. The land in front of the enemy began to shift slightly and then suddenly they all seemed to sink into the ground up to their chest like they were walking through a swamp.

She did as he said, and pointed her sword toward their enemy, keeping herself open to his using her power as well as him. As the ground seemed to turn into a thick muck that forced the men to wade through it to get closer to her and Callar. Shoni trusted her lover and king more than anyone else, but even she was frightened in going up against this enemy. Her hand fidgeted with his reins, and she obeyed any command he gave her.

Callar was totally focused on the spell he was casting having taken a short time to add the quagmire spell to slow them down. High above them the sky shifted and rolled thick clouds in. the gathered over the heads of the army that was still forcing their way closer to the pair. The spell took a long time to cast so long that the most forward of the army was just starting to come out of the quagmire spell. Suddenly spears of light shot down from the sky above and lanced through everyman from the front all the way to the crest of the next hill. They didn’t just cause some serious damage to the men they instantly killed them slicing through their hearts killing each one instantly. “Now…we can go.” He panted softly turning from the scene of death back toward the people fleeing.

Shoni hated seeing Callar's magic be used with such force, even though she knew if he hadn't, they would all be dead. It was difficult to see the magic in such a light, especially when she was used to the idea of fighting hand to hand, sword to sword. With the sword, a person could kill one, maybe two people at a time, not a whole army in one strike. She shook herself and sighed, nodding slowly. She was glad when he turned away from the mess, not really wanting to see it any longer than she had to. She leaned down and kissed his neck, sighing softly. "Let's get everyone across the river and then we can rest."

Callar panted lightly as he headed back toward the group of their people. He sighed hating to use magic like that but knowing it had needed done. he walked slowly back toward the river knowing that the main force of their pursuers would be slowed by the shock of seeing the first battalion dead. They made good time back over to the river where their people were. They had found a ford and were crossing even as Shoni and Callar came back.

Shoni was glad to see everyone crossing the river by the time they got back. It was easy to see that everyone was tired, including Shoni, and they were more than glad to get across the river and get some rest. At least the ford was shallow, and easy for even the villagers that were on foot to get across. By the time the last villagers had reached the other side, it was only a few minutes from absolute darkness, and some of the other villagers had lit fires to help dry off and light up the area enough to keep other animals away.

After the last person had crossed they all settled down for a long nights sleep. Callar walked a little into the forest before changing into his human form and coming back to snuggle up behind Shoni. At the same time Cecania and her mate were snuggling against a tree not far away. It had been a long day for all of them and the only thing anyone wanted to do right now was just rest.

Shoni had barely managed to remove her armor before she curled up under her cloak and fell fast asleep. She was too tired to care that she was on the ground another night. With Callar snuggled up beside her, she was warm enough to sleep comfortably. Her hand curled under her chin, and she sighed happily in her sleep. In the short time that Callar had been there, her dreams had allowed her to sleep peacefully. Some time during the night, she rolled over and rested her head against his chest, using him as a pillow.

He smiled and snuggled in close against her kissing her hair and neck before brushing his hand under her cloak and pulling her close using his larger cloak to cover both of them. soon he was asleep as well and slept well till the morning. It seemed that his little display of power had been enough to make the enemy rethink chasing them down. Something still bothered him and that was the Dahaka that had been in the attacking force. Something wasn’t right…there should never have been one of those in this world, something had broken a barrier.

No one in the camp moved until late morning, except several mothers and grandmothers who thought it best to get up early enough to make some food for everyone. Shoni didn't wake up until late, and she didn't want to move. She was sore from riding so long the days before, and she didn't mind staying asleep for longer beside her mate. The smell of food cooking woke her up a bit more, and she couldn't help getting up, in spite of the agony that her legs were in.

Callar felt her move and reached out to pull her back down into his arms growling softly and nuzzling in close to her. “Mmmm no you can’t go.” He sighed knowing that they did have to get up but he didn’t want to let her go. He knew that even though the river protected them and the enemy had been slowed there was still the issue of the Dahaka and the enemy wouldn’t be slowed for long.

She laughed softly and let him pull her back down into his arms. There was no way she would fight him when she herself didn't want to get up yet. She nuzzled against his warm, broad chest, her legs extraordinarily sore...worse than when the two of them had had any kind of fun. She sighed, her hand drifting over his chest, arms, and abs lightly. "Darling, if we keep riding so much, I'm going to end up bowlegged.

He laughed and snuggled her close kissing her neck and rubbing up over her breast to cup it lightly under her armor. He growled softly not wanting to let her go; wanting instead to drag her into the darkness of the forest and show her was true riding really was. “Mmmmm I know love and we won’t go as far today but we need to keep moving, they were slowed down and the river has swollen so they can’t cross as easily but we need to keep ahead of them.”

She sighed and slowly rolled out of his arms, even though she was enjoying his hands on her body. He was right. They did need to get going again. She quickly ran her fingers through her hair, trying to fix the tangles that were so very evident from riding and sleeping. She always had a hard time with her hair, and it always drove her crazy. She sighed and glanced back over to Callar. "Do you mind helping with my hair, my love?" Her fingers weren't doing any justice to the matted mess.

He smiled and sat up his hand brushing over her long tresses. He spoke a few words and her tangles smoothed out and it looked like she had spent hours brushing her hair rather then just his hand brushing over it. He moved the hair to one side exposing her neck to him and he nibbled softly kissing and slipping his hands around her from behind. “Mmmm I don’t want to have to go again.” He sighed but nodded, “But we have too…the forest will help conceal us but we need to keep on the move.”

She nodded and sighed, knowing what he meant about leaving soon. She smiled softly as she enjoyed the feel of his lips against her neck. She leaned back into him for the last time that morning, before she finally, and reluctantly, stood up to meet with the large group of travellers. She quickly fixed her armor to fit her frame properly, before one woman approached her with a small plate of food. Shoni gladly took it, giving her a nod of thanks and glanced back to Callar. "Come get some food. You need your strength, too."

Callar smiled and then shook his head leaning over and kissing her after coming over to her. “No there isn’t enough to go around right now…I will take care of myself.” He turned to the forest and walked a short ways into it before changing back into his horse form. After a good meal of grass and wildflowers he returned to the camp coming to her and nuzzling against her. “It is time we be going love.”

She smiled and watched him walk off as she nibbled at the food she was given. By the time he came back, she had finished her food and a woman took her plate. Shoni couldn't help but smile at the feel of his nose nuzzling against her, definitely wanting to feel that nose under her skirt, though they didn't have any time. She smiled innocently at him and lightly kissed his nose, before wrinkling her own. "You smell like grass, my love," she sent over their magical link. She smirked and mounted up onto his back. "We should get everyone rounded up."

He laughed softly and tossed his mane. “Well what do you expect, I was just eating some not long ago.” He replied over their link. At the same time he sent a picture of what he would rather have been eating over their link. The sight of her on her back his nose buried under her skirt as his long tongue and soft lips worked her pussy perfectly. It was only a flash but he knew it would affect her. already men and women were getting things together, knowing that it was time to start walking again. After the break though they would be able to keep going again.

She gasped and bit her lip as he showed her what he'd rather do, though she had known that was what he wanted. She bit her lip squirmed on his back, her pussy dripping wet just from that little thought. She playfully slapped his neck, letting him know just what she thought of that statement at the moment. She saw Marius and the other soldiers were helping the stragglers get their things together before everyone left.

It wasn’t much longer before the entire company was able to get up and moving and they were off for the day. Thanks to the display of power that Callar had given the day before the enemy was holding back being afraid to follow too closely. Callar knew that he was only delaying the inevitable. With the Dahaka on their trail he would never let them stop. Sooner or later the enemy would have to be fought, but that day was a long way he hoped.
