A Warrior Over All

Shoni didn't notice Callar's change, and she continued to fight. The spells effortlessly rolled off her tongue and her sword cut easily through the many enemies of her village. She kept herself between the intruders and Callar out of instinct, working her hardest to defend her mate. She was amazed at her ability to still be able to move easily in the armor that she wore. The girl wasn't even breathing hard as she continued to fight, working to clear enough of them out as fast as she could.

His eyes squeezed hard shut as the spell he was casting was draining him. He knew this spell would end the fight because of its sheer power but it took a lot out of him to cast it. The final word began to slip across his lips and his mind went blank as he began floating on the same level as the casting ring around him. Suddenly the defenders that were currently fighting an enemy would feel air rush past them and their enemy would be skewered but a dozen invisible spikes of air and always die from it. The battle was over in a mere seconds after that as every enemy fell.

Shoni struggled with the barbarian that she was opposing, only to have him step back, bleeding from a thousand deep wounds. He was dead before he even hit the ground. She glanced around, seeing all the others falling around them. She glanced around, toward where Callar should be. She saw him, but not as a horse. He was human as she, just like his sister had been...at least he had this form. She quickly moved toward him, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Thank you, Callar."

Callar had started to fall forward as she ran up to him. He collapsed against her drained horribly, having used up too much power and needing to rest badly. He shifted back so that he could lean on the staff that he held. â??You are welcome my mareâ?¦but your work is not done your people need a leader and you sure look the part.â? He kissed her lips softly then motioned toward the gathering people whispering, â??There will be time to be alone later your people need you now.â?

Shoni laughed softly. Obviously, the strain from the battle had knocked a few screws loose in her stallion's brain. "I look the part?" She glanced down at herself, covered in blood, yet still looking rather sexy. "I look like a piece of meat for their eyes to feast on." She kissed him back and smiled. "Go rest, love. I'll be back as soon as I can." Shoni took a deep breath and stepped back, then made her way to the remaining soldiers and the others that were gathered.

He smiled as she thought that they would see her in the same light that they had before she was right that they would still see her as a woman but now he thought there would be much more likely to respect her. as she walked away he turned looking over the town most of the buildings were burning and by the end of the night there would be no where for them to rest under shelter and he couldnâ??t let that be the case. He began chanting softly feeling more of he strength drain away as he made it begin to rain over each of the fires.

He was right though there was at first a few men that leered at her dress most of them had a look of respect and understanding in there eyes.

Shoni was starting to feel the regret of not being there for her father, and she was thankful for the rain that was starting to fall. She wiped the water and the tears out of her eyes, then stood upright to face the men in front of her. It didn't really hit her that she was a lot smaller than them, but she was going to own what she and Callar did to help them. She could feel the respect, and the fact that they all knew her father certainly had them feeling sympathy for her. Some of them reached out and patted her on the shoulders and the back to comfort her in their own ways. They all had lost friends in that sudden, terrible battle.

Callar was hurting having used a lot of energy to finish the battle and also started the rain falling. He felt the gentle drops hitting his human form face and smiled feeling a bit of the energy coming back at least enough to help her again. Callar stepped up behind her placing his hand on her back whispering, â??they need a strong leaderâ?¦you know what is needed your basic training take care of the basics first, food, shelter, and bury the dead. They need someone to lead them I will be here to support you but they donâ??t know me.â? He kissed her neck, â??Remember you are a queen.â?

Shoni nodded and stood up straighter. "Many of the homes have been burned to the ground, and others are in desperate need of repair. We should send those families to the cathedral so they have some place warm and dry to stay until their homes are rebuilt." She noticed some of them nodding, and smiled. "And until we have more food come in, everyone should have rations, but it won't be too long. Merchants are coming within the next two weeks." She blushed, not knowing what to do with the new found trust that she saw in the men's eyes. "We also need to bury the dead. We can't leave them to rot for the carrion birds to eat. It's a disgrace to those who helped us defend our town." When she finished, several of the warriors ran off to tell the people what they were to do, while the others started carrying the dead to the graveyard outside the city. She turned to Callar and kissed his cheek. "Go rest for a little while, Callar. You need it. I'm going to help them."

Callar smiled and wrapped his arms around her waist holding her close for a moment kissing her neck and ear. â??There is something you need to learn about being a leader. Never show favorites even to the ones you love, its hard for your people to see you as fair if you show favorites.â? He kissed her neck again, â??Come on lets both get to work.â? He set off toward one of the work parties rebuilding the houses.

Shoni laughed softly and nuzzled him, before going off to help bury the dead. It was hard to look at her father and his mare, lying there as if they were asleep. She sighed and pulled the spear out of his chest and caught him. She lay him down beside his mare and sighed. One of the stronger men came to stand beside her. "He was a good warrior. He deserves to be buried as a hero." She nodded and smiled. "He should be buried with his horse. She was always there for him, no matter what he needed. He would want that."

They worked quickly after he stopped the rain when the fires were no longer a threat. It wasnâ??t long before had large areas covered and ready for people to sleep under. Large fires were started controlled ones designed to keep the cold at bay and doing a very good job of it. The bodies of the fallen enemies were thrown into a large unmarked pit and just left there to rot while the bodies of the fallen defenders were dressed up and either entombed or burned on a pyre. Callar made sure he was there when her father was placed in the tomb with his mare. Caller was right behind Shoni and nuzzled against her neck whispering. â??Everything is done now love they have a room set aside for you so you can greave in privet.â? He kissed her neck softly, â??Do you want me to join you?â?

Shoni jumped when she felt Callar's presence behind her. She turned toward him and wrapped her arms around his waist when she watched them entomb her father and his mare. It was all she could do to hang onto her sanity and not run in there to stop them. She was glad that Callar could help her hold onto herself. She nodded when he asked if she wanted him to come with her, burying her face in his chest. "You should mourn as well. You lost your sister in this mess after all." She sniffed and nuzzled against him.

He gently reached down slipping his hand under her legs and picking her up carrying her to the inn where the room had been set aside just for her. kicking open the door he set her down and locked the door behind them moving up behind her slipping his arms around her waist and kissing he neck softly pouring his strength into her as he held her close knowing she needed someone to be near right now and he was here for her however she wanted to have him be.

Shoni clung to him, her face still buried against him as he picked her up. As he carried her away from the battlefield, she let the tears come. She didn't care that people were looking at them, making their way to the inn. The loss of her father was weighing on her heavily, and she was grateful that he was there to hold her. She ignored the accommodations within the room when he set her down, and sat in the middle of the floor, bringing her knees up to her chest. She sobbed, curling up against him when he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her back against him.

Callar knelt down with her staying with her and just holding her. he pulled her into his lap stroking her hair as they both grieved together. He hadnâ??t known her father but that is part of what hurt the most not knowing a man that was dear to his love. He nuzzled her neck softly just holding her also letting the grief for his sister wash over him his tears falling on her neck as he held her close.

Shoni turned into him when he pulled her into his lap. She sobbed into his shoulder, clinging to him as if she was going to lose him too. She couldn't let him go, no matter what. She looked up at him and kissed his cheek sweetly. She needed him happy again. She wanted to make him happy again. Her hands clenched in his robe, and she gasped for air. It was almost like she couldn't breathe through the tears and pain in her chest, and only being in his arms allowed her what she needed.

He held her close for a few moments more his hands finally slipping under her legs and back as he lifted her off the floor. He carried her to the bed gently laying her down on it and then quickly joining her cuddling against her kissing her hair and holding her close. â??Shhh I know Shoni, I knowâ?¦shhh.â?

She curled up against him when he joined her on the bed and sniffed softly, taking in his scent. Just when she found Callar, she lost the only other man she had really known and loved. Shoni took a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself so she could speak. Once she had stopped the tears, she nuzzled against him."Thank you, Callar...for being here for me..."

He smiled nuzzling her hair having been able to stop his own tears also. His hand stroked her hair and back, â??I am glad to my mare I will always be here for you from now on.â? He kissed her hair softly before whispering, â??Now armor is no fun to sleep in so letâ??s get you out of this.â? His hands started to work at the clasps that held the white armor on.

She nodded and moved so he could get her out of her armor a little easier. She moved her hands over his chest, slipping his robe over his shoulders. "I don't think that robe of yours could be very comfortable to sleep in either." She then remembered that she had no clothes on under the armor and blushed lightly. Even though she knew he was Callar, there was something to be said for a human male undressing her.

He smiled feeling her blush and letting a blush pass over his face also as she started to undress him. â??it isnâ??t not for sleeping.â? He slip his hands under her breast plate his fingers brushing against her breasts a little as he pulled it off over her head and tossing it to the side of the bed. His eyes looked into hers for a moment and then leaned in close kissing her lips lightly smiling. â??You are so very sexy my mare.â?

She smiled up at him when he took the breastplate off of her body, leaving her breasts completely bare to him. Her hands slipped under his tunic and pulled it over his head, dropping it down on the floor next to the pieces of armor that were quickly coming off. She smiled and returned his kiss sweetly, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Mmm...I'm sexy? I don't think I can compare to you, my stallion."

He pushed her back on the bed smiling knowing they both needed to feel the love from the other. He leaned down rubbing his hands over her body kissing her deeply his hands rubbing her breasts lightly. Growling he slipped down to her neck kissing and nibbling at it softly as he moved down more loving that he was now able to pleasure her this way as well as in his horse form.

Shoni moaned softly, feeling his hands slowly and lightly working her breasts. She never thought she could enjoy both a human and a horse, and still have it be the same person that she loved. Her hands slipped down his body, and she slipped her hands inside his pants. She couldn't help rubbing at his cock a little before she pulled them down on him.
