Comfort Games?

Honestly? Doom. I own all of their iterations. The oldschool ones from the 90's are just nostalgic. But the more recent ones (2016 and Eternal) are comforting because it's just a mindless chain of blasting demons apart with hella decent graphics. And I always loved how Doom was originally centered on Mars.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - I just love going around the map with Arthur on his horse, exploring the Wild West in the game - can do it for hours

Pokemon in the 3DS. From X&Y to USUM. Especially the Pokemon Amie option. I like booting up my game and just playing with my Pokemon tamagotchi when I feel down or like I need some non-edible sweetness.

GTA Online... Just randomly killing NPCs is a great way to blow off steam, the ridiculous shit that gets said in that game (by NPCS or in the in game radio) makes laugh, and... For the most part... Its pretty low bandwidth (brain wise) game play.

For me my main comfort games are pokemon games and animal crossing. I really love having a relaxing evening with my switch and some snacks.

The Sims.... I keep trying to complete the 100 baby challenge, then step away for a while, then wind up starting a whole new family to attempt the 100 baby challenge. It's a vicious cycle.

Lately Satisfactory. A game where I can sort of chill, have it somewhere in a background as I work and do other stuff.

Anything that invokes PS1/PS2 is a comfort to me, especially if it's on the spookier side of things. Classic Tomb raider, Resident evil 1, Silent Hill 2, Fatal Frame 2 (Or project zero, if you must). Can't go wrong with Skyrim or any flavor of Doom either.

Omg Silent Hill 2... I am so amped for the remake!! I never really got into Skyrim, the story of Oblivion eas much better IMO, but I'm a graphics snob and just can't play it now... I have tried.

Comfort games for me are ones that are more focused puzzles and riddles than tons of fighting... I get completely overwhelmed with tons of things trying to eat my face off, ok! But, I do enjoy spooky vibes, so... The Sinking City, was amazing for this (and I am do excited that it's getting a sequel). I also loved most of the Sherlock Holmes games (after they stopped being point & click), I haven't played the newest one yet, but I have it. The only real exception to the fighting thing is GTA V(online), there is nothing more soothing then getting on and just killing loads of NPCs for no reason other than you can.

Did you play the Crime and Punishment one? That's the only one I've played, but I loved it. Sent my brain into a trance trying to suss it all out. I love Oblivion for its colour...It's animation is wooden as hell, but it's still a very beautiful game to me. Then again, I weep over the sight of blocky tomb raider graphics.

I'm just hoping Konami hasn't done us dirty again with the remake...I'm watching the release from the sidelines before I dip my toes in, but I want it to at least be good in it's own right.

I used to just hop on a bike and ride around for ages in GTAV to relax. Then I tried it in VR, and it was more like a messed up fever dream.

The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 are definitely games I play through every now and then, just because they are so good.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein is very nostalgic, I remember playing it with my dad when I was a kid, so I make sure to play through it every couple of years too.

Lately, I've decided to replay GTA 4, also a classic.

Stardew Valley. There is just something captivating about the combination of relaxation, monsters and farming that I can't seem to escape.

As of late vampire survivors has been an amazing way to turn my brain power to low and watch numbers go up.

Relaxing games have become an actual thing with games like Journey, Abzu, Unpacking and Nour: Play with your food.

I actually find relaxation in action games like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, and Stellar Blade.

Started playing Starbound but I don't exactly find it relaxing.
