Megohime couldn’t help the laugh that bubbles up from her chest. “That’s because I’ve been drinking for the last hour..” She responded, tracing his jawline gently, then letting her hand fall to her side. “What is... all of this.. surely I can’t have been your only choice for women..”

“You make it sound like I’m just some regular woman, and not the leader of a crime syndicate.” She joked. “I can almost imagine where we aren’t both killers, and simply two people who’re in love..”

Megohime let him, enjoying the small affection with a soft smile on her face. “I don’t think this town will let me out of its clutches that easily... But if you think you can whisk me away like that, then sure..” She laced her fingers with his, squeezing his hand gently.

Megohime reached up with her free hand, taking his chin in her grasp and tilting his head down so she could kiss his forehead. “I can’t wait for that day..”

Kojurou often found himself thinking of the woman who had nearly forced herself upon him, the desperation in her eyes, how even though she was in horrible condition, she still moved like she was hardly scratched. What had made her so desperate? What made her move, even after her body was in shambles?

Kojurou lowered his gaze thoughtfully before he stood. He would make the journey out to go see her and get to understand her better, maybe even help with her care.

The Guild still looked the same as last time, straining under the weight of how many refugees had shown up, many I’ll or injured, only this time, more were covered by white sheets. It seemed so chaotic inside, but surely the more injured would be in the actual infirmary.

When he opened the door, the room was surprisingly quiet, only one person puttering around in the room. He recognized the person as Motochika’s second in command, Ren, tending to a few unconscious patients. He looked up when he saw Kojurou, smiling and nodding his head. “Katakura-dono, what brings you here?” He asked, setting down a clipboard.

“Oh! Yes, thank you, the help was very much appreciated!” Ren nodded, moving over to a bed and grabbing a clipboard off the end of the bed. “We don’t know her name yet, but her head wound is healing nicely after receiving celebrer.” He said, reading off of her chart. “If you’d like to speak with her, I can try and wake her? Do you know her?”

He blushed softly, "Ah, no...but she mistook me for someone she knew...I wanted to see if I could get more information...perhaps find where she came from and get her back.."

Ren looked from the chart to Kojurou, a sad smile on his face. “Katakura-dono.. I know it may be hard for someone such as yourself to understand, but she wasn’t mistakenly forgotten... I’m sure you already knew that... But for someone like her, the people who left her behind don’t want her back..” He hung the clipboard back up. “Mercenary tags like us aren’t as prized as tags like you, you’re just a higher grade.”

He lowered his gaze slightly, "I had hoped she belong to someone wealthy, a bodyguard or something.." He muttered, "I suppose not all are as lucky as you or I..."

“I don’t think she’s that unlucky... She lived, and now she’s free to make her own choices, isn’t that as lucky as any Tag can be..?” He offered another soft smile. “If you’d like to speak with her, I can step out for a bit..?”

Ren bowed his head. “It’s no problem.” He said before leaving Kojurou alone with the injured. Jin lay in bed, still wrapped head to toe, but her bandages no longer stained with blood.

The woman who looked to be asleep opened her eyes, as if she had simply been laying in bed waiting. She looked more lucid this time, but here eyes were still unfocused. “Who are you..?” She asked softly.

She stiffened a bit, eyes growing wide, quickly looking away from the blurry figure in front of her. “I’m sorry.. I don’t remember meeting you, forgive me.” She could tell by the voice the man in front of her was someone she hadn’t met before.

She only frowned softly. “They tell me I’m fine, my wounds are healing as nicely as they can..”
