Jason chuckled as she commented on him being a gentleman. He was a bit surprised as she wrapped her arms around his, though he didn't mind. Florida really was different, as women back home in Chicago were never this forward. As they were both leaving the dorm, he noticed other people were moving in, as well.
"Yeah, a dorm party would be a great idea. Since we're all going to be living close to each other, we should get to know each other at least a little bit."
When they exited the dorm, the bright Florida sunshine and perfect weather invigorated him. There was nothing like this kind of weather to make one want to get out and do stuff.
"Your brother was really cool for that. I owe him, too, now."
When she jumped in front of him, Jason gave her a big smile. He liked how energetic she was, and the flirty rapport between them didn't hurt anything, either.
When she said that they would play for first pick of the bed, he nodded.
"That sounds fun and fair."
He laughed good-naturedly as she got into a martial arts pose. When she did the spin kick, he moved his upper body back so as not to get clocked accidentally.
"Whoa, there, don't get too dangerous on me now, Chun-Li," he joked.
A woman jogged by and complimented the kick, causing Jason to laugh pleasantly at the hilarity of the situation.
Erin then made it fair by allowing him to choose from one of three games.
"Well, honestly, I'm best at Mortal Kombat. Deception, Deadly Alliance, Shaolin Monks, and Armageddon were all my jam. I beasted at Mortal Kombat X at my buddy's house. I wanted so badly to get the new console for Mortal Kombat XI, but didn't get a chance."
Jason seemed to be thinking it over.
"But of those three, I'll take Street Fighter. I'm real good with the Ansatsuken family; Ryu, Ken, Gouken, Akuma, even Sakura."
Jason laughed again as Erin did the Hadouken like Ryu.
"Hey, that was good. I almost believed that you could do it."
Jason waved it off when she seemed embarrassed.
"Don't even worry about it. I've been at McDonald's at 2 AM with a group that included several loud, drunk black girls. After that, nothing can embarrass me."
He gave her a wink.
"So you be a spaz if you want to be. Don't let someone else take away your happiness."
Jason looked down as she traced the word 'Turbo' on his shirt. His outfit showed off muscular arms and legs that he developed through a combination of martial arts and working out regularly at his buddy's basement gym.
"Thanks. I could say the same about you."
Jason had waited for hours on a plane to embrace warm weather clothing, and this tropical weather had been well worth the wait. As she got back on his arm, he couldn't have felt happier or more manly.
"Oh, man, ice cream sounds so good right now. I bet they have flavors here you won't find up north."
Jason nodded as she said that she wanted to hear about classes and his hometown.
"Sure, I've lived in Chi-Town all my life so I'll tell you anything you want to know. As for classes, I'm an Archaeology Major looking to get a Ph. D in that field. I want to see the whole world and uncover connections to humanity's past."
