~ Miami Beach University ~
In Character Thread - Profiles - Out of Character - NPC's

Yep it's that time again. Another new year with the beautiful breeze of cool air, with the waves crashing upon shore, and the general beautiful sight around. The dorming was voted to be co-ed optional. But if you prefer on the application to have it traditional. That's fine as well. The college has many activities, sports to join, and great assortment of classes to gain your major in. Many opportunities to meet others on campus, explore the many offerings of the beautiful beach in the back to throw a party at or go for a nice morning jog, or head out to the city in Miami and go to the great raves and clubs. A fairly new built university. It's attracted many younger youth as well as some elder individuals to join. Have the chance to meet the Dean Milton Chansberg. The first week will be orientation week and even have a meet and greet event thrown. Also there is the chance to join the frat or sorority.

Erin finally stepped foot on campus, eager to get her college experience started. She set down a few of her bags, just to gather her thoughts about taking this next leap her life. She will finally be living away from home. Not only that, she will be staying in a Co-Ed dorm, which was both nervous and exciting. She let the cool breeze kiss her skin just a little longer before realizing she has alot to do before she can relax. "Hopefully there are some cool dormies who want to do the same" She quietly speaks to herself, "Hopefully my dorm mate likes me, or this will get pretty bad pretty fast".

After getting a few directions, Erin finally reached the dorms. She takes a deep breath and enters. "Wow" she says to herself as she does not see anyone else at the moment. She can't help to let out a laugh, "This might be the first time I made it early to something". She follows the room numbers until her eyes lock on 103. "Here we are!" She enters the room, jokingly starting to claim all the goods things to herself. She starts to unpack her things and mentally trying her best to get situated to her new living situation. She keeps the door open while she starts to hook up her gaming console, hoping her new roommate likes to play as well.

A deep red Honda CR-V trundled up to the parking lot in front of the dorm, tinted windows rolled up and a deep thrumming jarred the glass. Knowing it was move in day she drove carefully. No need to mow over tearful parents bidding their babies bye-bye. It rolled right past general parking and up front and center to handicapped parking. For a moment it idled before the automatic back hatch clicked and rose open. The roar of drums and guitars filled the air as Dani Filth raged into the void. Just as soon as the sound started it halted to sudden silence and the driver door opened.

Irene stepped out of her glossy SUV and winged the door shut. Straight, brunette streaked blond hair was scraped back into a severe bun. Black Oakley sunglasses shielded her green eyes from the warm Floridian sun. She wore a simple grey tank-top with the Gadsden flag snake printed on the front in a horribly cartoonish way. Rather than the traditional "DONT TREAD ON ME" it read "NO STEP ON SNEK." Tattoos covered her muscular arms and peeked out from the top of her tank-top along her chest and back. Black leggings tightly fit to the contours of her legs and backside. In one stretched pocket sat her iPhone, in the other a pack of Marlboros and a lighter. A pair of ankle high boots finished the look, if it could be considered one.

It had been a long drive and she took a moment to lean against the door and light up a cigarette. That sweet nicotine rush invaded her head. With a new car there was no way she was smoking in it yet. Didn't want to lose the new car smell too soon. The smooth Marlboro was gone in just over a minute but a minute was enough to survey the arrivals and the dorm building. Stamping the cherry out on her boot she walked to a nearby trash can to toss it out properly. Her gait was odd when she turned back. A pivot on her left and slightly awkward hobble on her right then it was off to the hatchback of her car.

Irene grabbed her large, green, duffle bag and slung it onto her back then grabbed a large box that clinked and jangled as she hefted it up. She waved her right foot under the car and the back hatch closed by itself. Best invention ever. Holding the box tightly she headed into the building to check out her, hopefully, temporary digs.

Passing 103 it appeared someone had already arrived to claim a room. The barest of glances in wasn't entirely promising. Irene kept walking, marching really, her pace swift and purposeful. 109, she stuck her key in and opened the door. Desolate. Spartan. "I've been in nicer barracks," she grumbled to her self and marched to the far bed. She wasn't a fan of sleeping near doorways. The box was set gingerly on the bed, the duffle dumped to the floor like last week's garbage. Not taking a moment to check out the room she headed right back out for the rest of her things. Another large, green duffle slung over her back, a backpack slung to the front of her body, another box balanced atop the backpack (only slightly obscuring her vision) and a half folded garment bag. Her whole life packed away into four bags and two boxes. She'd lived rougher.

“God damnit.” Gordon Lanrezac hissed for the ninth time.

Not as bad as what some of the other students said to him as he shuffled down the hallway, reading the door numbers while trying to juggle the large amount of belongings he heaved with him. Strapped over his shoulder and around his chest was his sports bag, containing the vast panoply of gear he needed for hockey. His shin and shoulder pads, his chest piece, leggings, gloves, helmet, his protector cup for down there, all in the larger bag. Around his neck dangled his two skates, the blades sharped, latched about his neck by the laces. In his left hand he dragged his regular suitcase, containing all his normal clothes. In his right hand, two hockey sticks, flipped vertically, using the flat tops like a walking stick to help keep himself balanced. It was just today, the moving in phase, that would be difficult. And of course going to and fro practice every morning.

The hall was crowded with students seeking their rooms or just idling to chat and hang out. Sometimes his larger sports bag would bump one and they would give an angry look or chiding rebuke. Most often they consented to looking the other way at a quick apology from Gordie. He wasn’t the only one heaving big bags and luggage into the dorm. Some were beyond that and received a most pleasant fuck you, plug from the Canadian international student.

He was pleasantly surprised to be put in Co-ED dorms for this year’s first semester. Room 107 that was the spot. He read the other name on the listing, one Lillian O’Donnel. A girl? Well that was going to be amusing. Who was going to be tripping over who’s things, her over his skates and hockey gear or him over her…stuff. In any case, he was first to the room and had first pick of either bunk. He chose the one furthest from the wall, where he let out very audible sighs of relief as he dumped the bag, the sticks, the suitcase, and his skates on the bed. He took a moment to stretch his limbs too, feeling a few cracks, and knowing it had been a few days since he last been to a gym. He would need to rectify that. Coach would be expectant of him, being a defensemen for the Miami Beach college hockey team.

Like, why else was he here, if not for the scholarship offered? He could pursue a major in Sports Management anywhere. Looking out the window, he eyed the distant beach and thought how it was vastly different from the beaches on the west coast. “I need some beer.” He decided quite frankly, to no one in particular. But wait, wasn’t there some sort of orientation for new and returning students today?

Jason Armstrong was a bundle of nerves and excitement as he disembarked the plane and got his luggage. As a Chicago native, Florida seemed like a whole different world. Palm trees and beaches were everywhere, and it just seemed like a much chiller and more laid-back environment. Jason was also excited to be away from home and able to live his life with more freedom. Of course he would have to be responsible and get good grades, but even just having the choice to stay out all night partying with no parents on his back was awesome. These were all normal things to be excited about, but Jason was excited for a different reason.

Jason was excited to be majoring in Archaeology. Ever since he was in middle school, he had loved History. During high school, he had seen the movie Sahara with Matthew McConaughey, which was based on a novel by Clive Cussler. After he graduated, he read the book that it was based on, and over two dozen Cussler novels after that. Reading these books inspired him to want to be an Archaeologist, to travel the world discovering History like the characters in the books. To see the world and live History was his dream.

With his career settled, he began looking into universities with a strong Archaeology program. He checked local universities, but none of them were offering good job prospects. With how much it cost to go to university, Jason wanted a career immediately out of college. His parents were paying his tuition out of pocket, so he owed it to them to make their investment count. After thorough research, he found just what he was looking for at Miami Beach University. While his parents were initially opposed to him going to school so far away, they ultimately realized that it was his decision and let him go.

Now he was here, and he couldn't wait to get there. Hailing a cab, he stuffed his luggage into the trunk and got into the backseat. The cabbie was a dark-skinned Middle Eastern man that spoke in a thick accent. Thankfully, being a born and bred urbanite, this was no problem for him.
"Where you go, man?"
"Miami Beach University."

The cabbie nodded, started the taxi, and pulled away. As he drove, Jason's eyes boggled as he looked around. The sun lit up a beautiful blue sky without a cloud. The palm trees seemed to reach for that sky, towering over the street. There were also a bevy of bikini clad babes walking around. That was proof that he definitely wasn't in Chicago anymore.

When the cab arrived at the university, he paid the fare and hauled his suitcase into the dorm building. Checking his key, he saw that he would be staying in Room 103. He had put on his application that he would be fine with a Co-Ed dorm mate, but the fine print said that occupancy might vary. Whether they were a man or a woman, Jason just hoped that they were chill. He was a laid-back guy that didn't like drama, so he could only hope. Moving down the hall, he found room 103.

The door was already open, so he figured that his roomie had made it here before him. He gently knocked on the door to announce his presence before coming in. Jason was in luck, as his roomie was not only a girl, but a hot one. She was hooking up a game console, and he beamed.
"You like video games, too? Sweet."

Setting down his luggage, he shook her hand.
"I'm Jason Armstrong. Nice to meet you."
Looking around the dorm, he spotted a clothes rack where he could hang his clothes. Unzipping his suitcase, he started doing so.
"So, are you a new student, too?"

The plane really could have not landed quick enough. Who knew her first ever flight would be delayed and full of nonstop turbulence. Not to mention the screaming toddler who attempted to pull her hair out from over the seat twice. Lucky for her she was the oldest of five. Patients was something she had developed early on. However, today was different. Today would be her first day at Miami University. Flying from the beaches of San Diego to the beaches of Florida. A new place where another chapter could began.

Lilly wasted little time before moving into the narrow aisle of the plane. Not before the still shrieking child could take another grab at her ponytail of course. This time succeeding, holding the long strain of golden brown hair like a trophy. Taking a deep breath she fought back the line of curse words eagerly waiting to be unleashed. Happy thoughts Lil. Warm, sandy, blue watered thoughts. The pep talk helping as she continued forward, thanking her dad for booking seats towards the front.

To her relief navigating the airport went a lot smoother than her morning. A black and teal sports bag had been the only thing she brought on the plane, eliminating the mess which was baggage claim. The contents of the bag was what was most important, and the very reason why she was in Miami. MU offered one of the best BFA programs around and being accepted was a dream come true. She'd even managed to snag herself a part time job teaching an intermediate class in ballet. Everything really was falling into place.

Lily kept her face practically smashed against the glass the entire way. Not wanting to miss any bit of the scenery as the yellow cab drove on. Her hometown was beautiful, even touristy, but nothing like this. Even the sky seeming a different shade of blue. Checking out the city was at the top of the list, right under checking out the beaches. The airport being a bit of a drive from MU gave her plenty of time to daydream.

Upon arrival Lily fumbled through her bag, remembering she had shoved her wallet in the somewhere in there hand counted out the owed cash. Adding a nice tip at the end. With a polite thank you she settled her bag across her slender shoulder and moved onto the sidewalk. Her blue eyes took on another round shape as she studied the building in front of her. Here we go she thought out loud, taking in a deep breath.

Lily made her way through the chaotic crowd. The combination of arriving students and reunited friends added to the riotous atmosphere and to her excitement. A small smile crossed her full lips as she took it all in. Before she reached the doors which would lead her dorm Lily unfolded the paper she had gotten out on the drive. Completely forgetting her room number despite having looked it over a hundred times before. Room 107, Gordon Lanrezac. The thought of sharing a room with a guy wasn't an uncomfortable one. Afterall, she came from a heavily male dominated family.

She hurried inside and through the sea of people, mainly not to get trampled over. Using her slender, agile build to her advantage. Getting through the hallways was proving to be its own obstacle. She was glad she had dressed simply, a form fitting, grey tank top and pair of black spandex shorts. Her hopes now on air conditioning unit in her dorm as she reached the numbered door. Unsure if anyone was inside she gave the handle an extra turn before pushing it open, and not as gracefully as she hoped hearing bounce against the wall.

Immediately her eyes went to what was safe to assume as her roommate. Her eyes having to trail up slightly to make contact with his. Everything about him screaming athlete and seeing the items on his bed proved it. She offered him a friendly smile, extending one long leg back to hook her foot around the edge of door and closed it. Gordon, right? I'm Lily. she said, throwing her bag onto the available bed.

Eren Mendez Colson stared blankly at his ceiling with little motivation or the drive to willingly get out of his posh hotel bed. Today was Move-In Day. He had flown in from Detroit, Michigan just the other night down into Miami, Florida. Sure he was elated that he was given the opportunity to pursue a career in Information Technology, Networking & Computer Programming, but the 18 year old prodigy was still exhausted from his late-night gaming sesh.

Examining his Apple watch, Eren noted that it was almost 5:30 a.m in the morning. He still needed to take care of his personal hygiene, get dressed, checkout, and call an UBER. Groaning, Eren gathered the strength and the willpower to pull the chain on a lamp to his right side.
With the gentle light illuminating the darkness. Eren put on some Nike slides, sandals & headed to the bathroom to scrub himself clean from head to toe.

After brushing his teeth, spritzing himself with Versace cologne and drying his messy jet black hair. Eren dug through his red suitcase for a Polo grey top, a black pair of 501 Levi denim jeans, NIKE socks, and low top grey Vanz . He accessorised himself with a pair Ray Bans- which would hide his amber hues from the sun's glare; and donned an onyx bracelet on his right wrist. The lobes of his small ears were penetrated with black cubic zirconium earrings. The final piece of his casual ensemble included a white set of BEATS By DRE headphones on his neck.

Eren's iPhone began to vibrate in his pocket as Siri's automated voice chimed, "The time is now 6 a.m." The bedroom door shut with an audible click. A card key slid on the check - in countertop. Eren's Uber had arrived no later than 6:15 a.m.

"Miami Beach University?" The Driver inquired, to ensure herself that Eren was their client. Eren nodded as he grabbed his belongings, loaded them into the back of the Subaru & closed the passenger door. It was a short ride to the University.

One of the very first things that Eren sighted was a red Honda CR-V, parked upfront & center . The shiny SUV was banging some loud music. A harsh cacophony of the guitar and drums rattled the vehicles next to woman it belonged too. Speaking of rattling, a cartoonish snake was printed on her grey top as various markings of ink slithered along her skin.

Eren assumed that the girl was definitely militant. Exiting the vehicle, Eren collected his two red suitcases, a black gym bag and a 1 strap Northface backpack. Checking his itinerary, he saw that needed to head to room 101. With some pep in his stride he meandered through the noisy, bustling crowd of students towards the room- following the instructions imprinted on the sheet of paper.

He would be rooming with one other- under the name of Athena R. Edison- which was etched into the nameplate on the door. Grabbing the handle he door Eren twisted it. Much to his surprise the door was locked. He remembered that he had been given the spare key to the room by someone who's name he'd already forgotten; and opened the dorm room.

"Let's see... I'll take... The bed next to the window." He chose the bed furthest from the door. Unpacking his gear, he took out some anime, pop culture, and gamer posters and decorated his side of the room. Next, he carefully hung up his clothes on the rack and lined his shoes up on the floor by color in the corner of the room.

Frowning at the absence of a mini fridge or microwave. They'll need to get one in there- and soon. There was no way HE was going to go back forth to the cafeteria when he was hungry/ thirsty.

There was also only a single bathroom. This was going to potentially cause an issue in the future. Eren sighed heavily as he set up his iMac and PS4. "Man, I hope the Wi-Fi's good." He said out loud while wondering when or if his new roomie would arrive. He would then do some online shopping until she arrived.

“So join me in this bed that I’m in, Push up on me and sweat, darling, So I'm gonna put my time in, And won’t stop until the angels sing, Jump in that water, be free, Come south of the border with me, Jump in that water, be free…” the https://shoplook.io/outfit-preview/1227101]blonde[/url] sang along with the music that came from the pink Jeep that she parked in her spot. She sat behind the wheel, singing and dancing a bit in her seat while the song finished before she climbed down from the cab and grabbed her luggage from the cargo bay of SUV.

“Well, if it isn’t Miss Georgia Peach,” she heard called from someone who obviously knew about her pageantry days. She lifted her hand, doing the beauty queen wave before rolling her eyes and went back to stacking her luggage so she could tote it to her dorm. Part of her had been tempted to live off campus, but that would have just meant more work to be social-and she also knew that since her mother wasn’t hounding her heels with her event planner in tow, she was going to enjoy lots of time inside if she let herself withdraw too much from socializing. The dorm had been a nice middle ground-not like she’d have to travel far from campus and wouldn’t hear about this or that going on...

Pods in her ears, and she was soon strutting from parking lot to dorm and back a few times to get everything. She’d opted to grab the unit by the window since she didn’t know who her roommate was, or if they’d have a preference...But really-she got there first. And if they couldn’t stand eachother, she could run a curtain along her side so they at least wouldn’t have to look at one nother...This sharing things was new-she practically had her own apartment at her parents’ southern mansion in Georgia that...She looked around the shared dorm…”My closet back home is bigger than this place,” she murmured to herself. Actually, her closet was probably bigger than five of these dorms…

“Good thing I told Mama I’d buy more clothes if I needed them,” she muttered. Mostly, she’d brought shoes, bikinis, coverups for the beach, leggings, tshirts, shorts, a few dresses ranging from relaxed sundress to fancy dinner out and various activities in between...She brought a couple of sweaters and hoodies in case a class was cold, or there was a cold-snap that moved through. She knew from pictures there wasn’t much by way of closet or storage space, so she’d been sure to bring some extra storage things-mostly pop-and-store things, but she did bring a couple of racks to go in her closet space, though they had the pop-and-store drawers to go with them. She set some music to playing while she set about getting her side of the dorm set up.

Erin quickly looks up as she hears the light knocking on the door. Whoa, she thought to herself. There was a really attractive looking guy standing at the entrance to the dorm room. It made the situation all the better when he practically lit at the sight of her setting up her gaming console. "You better believe you ass I do!" She excitedly responded to the man about playing video games. She hopped up and ignored the handshake, gave him a hug "Hey Jason, I'm Erin Vasser, and seeing that your my roommate is already putting a great start to the year"

She watches him unzip his bags as goes back to putting the finishing touching on the console. She perks up, "I'm not sure if you brought your own, but feel free to use mine like it's your own. Most of my games are digital downloads, so they will already be on it" She looks up at him, giving another smile "Oh, and Netflix is on it as well so watch away"

Erin sneaks a pick of Jason on her phone before sending it to her best friend with a text, Check out who I got as my co-oed roommate 😘. Her phone beeps back as she giggles to her friends jealous response.

"Yes, I am a new student and this is my first experience at college life...and having a roommate." She ruffled through on her bags grabbing some clothes. "Hopefully I don't drive you crazy in a week". She goes into the bathroom to change clothes and comes back out. She is wearing a pair of board shorts and a midriff baring tank top. "So, I know we still have some unpacking to do, but would you be interested in exploring the campus. The weather is super nice today and that breeze feels amazing!" She gives a wink "...and it would be nice find all the fun spots with someone else."

“ her dreams when out the door, when she hit twenty four...” she sang along to the music on her headphones, her fingers drumming on the plastic edge of the open window watching as the car pulled up to the entrance

“ thanks man, have a good one” she spoke tapping the back off the trunk of the cab she took from the airport and sent a text to her mother. Announcing she had arrived safe and such. Looking around she took a deep breath and smiled putting on her oversized sunglasses she double checked her room assignment ‘101 Eren Colson’ she raised an eyebrow as that could have been a girl or a boy. Shrugging she started to pick up her stuff when a shout got her attention.

“ hey girl nice ink!” A similarly tattooed student came up to her showing a space nebula on her arm, her and Athena spoke for a while about tattoos and future trips to tattoo shops, as well as snapping a quick photo together. Gathering all her things again she headed to the dorm room, pushing past people and talking briefly to those who drew her interest.

Coming to her door she peered in already seeing her room mate setting his things up.” Hey, hows it going? I’m Athena Edison. Decent space here huh?” She commented as she put her things on her bag putting her art folder by the desk as well as the fold away easel that she tucked under the bed. Opening her bag she got out her miniature turnstile to plug into her laptop so she could mix as well as her collection of sketchbooks and packets of pencils and brushes.

“ you wanna go halves on a mini fridge and a mini stove or something? I’m sure they’ll sell them somewhere on campus?” She asked as she started to put her clothes away.

Eren was busy scrolling through Amazon's appliances page when a silvery voice greeted him. ” Hey, hows it going? I’m Athena Edison. Decent space here huh?” Still disappointed by the obvious lack of appliances, the techie retorted, "Its going so-so." while craning his neck in the woman's direction, and tilting his Ray Bans which obscured his view of Athena.

His gorgeous roommate was adorned with numerous, colorful and vibrant tattoos. Her scorching red hair like winter fire, danced like January embers as she sat an artbook down on top of a bag- next to the desk adjacent to his. Eren couldn't believe his eyes. Seeing Athena was like watching a comic book character come to life. He likened her to that of DC's "Poison Ivy" as she took a folded easel and slid it under her bed.

Eren's first impression of Athena was- not only was she an artist, like him in a way, but she was also an open book. The miniature turnstile accompanied by the stack of sketchbooks, brushes and color pencils told him she was avid fan of music and was probably great at DJ-ing.

“You wanna go halves on a mini fridge and a mini stove or something? I’m sure they’ll sell them somewhere on campus?”

Snapping out of his trance, Eren quickly answered,

"You... wanna go halfsies?" Eren, shocked, cracked a smile. These things didn't come cheap. Her offering to help him out, made his day that much better. "S-Sure. Yeah, it'll be much faster to buy them here rather than wait for Amazon to ship it. Not only that, it'll give us an opportunity to explore the campus and learn more about each other's... interest." He reasoned as he rested his amber hues on her frame.

"So your name is Athena? Huh? You're lucky you were blessed with that name. Its befitting of a goddess." Eren complimented as she put her clothes away. "So what kind of music are you into?" He asked cooly.

MELANIE!” A booming voice called out to the brown skinned young woman who was half way out of the door to her apartment. She slowly turned on her heels and smiled at the two men who towered over her. It was her father and younger brother. Melanie and her family were from Dallas, Texas and the two had come with her to make sure she got moved in properly with out a hassle. This being her second year in Miami she was thrilled that her Dad not only agreed to let her get an apartment but she had a chance to actually get a say in who her potential roommates were. After a disastrous roommate situation last year she couldn’t contain her anxiety about getting not one but two roommates. Really it wasn’t necessary for her to find her roommates, she was assured that management could simply place two other people in the apartment with her, but if she had recommendations it would be helpful to her. Also the aptly named Across The Street Apartments was a brand new off campus student living.

The apartments were 3 stories high and had a total of 4 completed buildings so far. Construction was still underway for the remaining 5 and when completed there would be 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom apartments. It was dorm style living but slightly cheaper and a little nicer. All bills were included in rent, each apartment came fully furnished, there were a few nice amenities like a pool a basketball court and sand volleyball area. There was even a decent sized dog park for those who brought a furry friend with them. The apartment move in day coincided with that of the school, and since this was their first time opening Melanie, or rather her Dad, got a good deal. The first months rent was free, and if she was able to get at least two other people to sign a lease she would get 10% off her own 12 month lease. So she had been given a stack of fliers to hand out and put up around campus with her name as a referral on it.

Yes sir?” She asked looking at her Dad who had a stren look no matter what he was feeling.
Where are you going?”
“To campus. I have to get a feel of the walk, and I have the fliers to pass out. Oh and orientation
” She informed him. He rubbed his chin and nodded
We’re just about finished unpacking the big things. We’ll be going back to the hotel. Give us a call this evening so we can have dinner together. We’ll be flying out in the morning so don’t forget! Do you have your keys, and phone?” He asked and watched as his daughter thought deeply. She had a medium sized back pack on that she used as her pruse. She opened it up and dug around for a bit. When she finally found both items she pulled them out as proof before replacing them in her bag. “What about your pepper spray and knife?” Sighing heavily Mealine produced those items as well then replaced them, she also pulled out a pair of sunglasses and her AirPods. After placing her headphones in her ears and sunglasses on her face she zipped the purse closed. Her father pulled her into a tight hug and kissed her forehead before letting her go on her way.
Be safe and see you tonight”
“I will.See you later Daddy.”
and off she bounced out of her first floor apartment and into the bright sunshine rays of Miami. Before she got to far Melanie opened up her backpack once again and placed the fliers in for safe keeping but pulled out her phone. She wanted to check her twitter page and turn on some tunes. She opened up Apple Music and placed her library on shuffle. The first song to play was Tia Tamera by Doja Cat ft Rico Nasty.

The walk wasn’t to bad to her a short 15 minutes and could be 10 if she speed walked. Once on campus it was a clear difference in how moving day on campus was versus her apartment. Many more people and much more crowded. Looking around she bit her lip and wondered where the best place to start posting the fliers would be and her first though was the coffee shop.

Jason was thrilled that his roommate was so nice. He hadn't expected the hug and compliment, but he would sure take them.
"I wanted that console so badly when I was in high school, but my parents had this rule that after I entered high school, I had to buy stuff like that for myself. I saved up working Summer jobs, but I graduated before I could buy it. Now all that money is expense money over here."
When she mentioned having digital games and Netflix, he was even happier.

"Well, I certainly won't get bored in the dorm room."
He was too busy putting up clothes to notice the surreptitious pic. When she said that this was her first time at college and having a roommate, he gave her a joking suspicious look.
"First time having a roomie, but you immediately break out the awesome game console with Netflix? I think you're holding out on me."
Laughing and dropping the expression, he finished hanging up clothes.

When she mentioned her hopefully not driving him crazy, he shook his head.
"If four years at a Chicago high school couldn't do it, it can't be done."
This was no light exaggeration. During his junior year, a gang fight erupted at the school, shots were fired, and the school went on lockdown. Jason was trapped in a classroom for hours with hysterical classmates, but he kept his head until the police showed up to end the violence. Thankfully, despite all the shots fired, no one was killed.

After Erin came back out in a very flattering outfit, Jason gave her a subtle appreciative look. It conveyed the message of 'I like what I see' without straying too far into creepy. It was a difficult technique to master, but he had done it.
"I would love to look around. This is my first time in Florida and I want to see it all."
Holding up a finger for 'just a minute', he grabbed some clothes and went into the bathroom.

In Chicago when he boarded the plane, the weather had been chilly, so he had worn blue jeans and a light blue hoodie over a black T-shirt. Now that he was in balmy Florida, it was time for a change of outfits. A moment later, he stepped out in red long shorts, a white T-shirt with the word 'Turbo' written on it in orange lettering, and orange thong sandals. This was Jason Armstrong, Florida style.
"Let's find those fun spots."
He opened the door and invited Erin to go first with his other hand.

Erin smiled as he held the door, quickly throwing on some flip flops before walking out the door "Ohh...and Jason Armstrong is a gentleman as well". She waits for him to walk out and she hooks one arm around his as her hand on the other clings to his bicep. She takes note of seeing movement of other rooms opened as more people seem to have started moving in. Erin looks up at Jason and smiles "When the dorm arrives, we definitely need to have a party!"

They walk out of the dorm, Erin still having the same hold on Jason's arm. "I was pretty lucky. My brother got me my console for Christmas two years ago, so I have been lucky to own one." She giggles as she lets go of his arm and jumps in front of him. "Tell you what Jason, tonight we play for first pick of the bed" She gets into a silly martial arts pose "Winner obviously picks what bed they want" Erin then does some spinning kick. It looked silly as hell, but she had enough grace to get back into a pose. "To make things fair, you can pick the fighting game. I have Tekken, Street Fighter, and Soul Calibur." She then puts her hands in a ball motions and pushing them forward, yelling as loud as she can "HADOUKEN". She then blushes and pulls her hands back to her sides "Well Jason, not even day one and I have already embarrassed the both of us. I tend to act like a spaz when I get excited". She then walks up to him and traces the word Turbo on his shirt. "You dress up well for this Miami weather, it's a cute look you got." She hooks hers arms back on his. "Let's find where they keep the ice cream around here, I have to hear about life in Chicago and what classes you are taking". Erin was really anxious to hear about his Chicago life, as it seem there was a personal story connected with it.

'And just for fun we take your tongue and run it over my lip
You gotta love the way she does it for the hell of it
We're in positions that most people only say they know

You've got your hand right on a landmine ready to blow'
Pulling into the parking lot with (my darkest days) blaring through her speakers, swinging into the closet parking spot to the building as she could find. Before getting out of her car Camilla popped her truck, pulled on her shades,grabbed her keys and purse and got out. Her hair flowing in the wind, the sun kissing her caramel brown skin and a smile on her face as she headed into the dorms with her two suitcases and duffle bag with her.

Camilla was just happy to be almost twenty hours from home to get away from her misogynistic father and his views. Being the only and the youngest girl of 12 was aggrevating and tough. Now the way she dressed and carried herself you wouldn't think she grew up with eleven brothers but piss her off, you'll find out very quickly. She was the princess of the family and always got her way so as one would say she was spoil rotten. Thankfully she never became a brat and knew how to do for herself and was actually very nice.
That was thanks to her mother....now as she grabbed her room assignment she was praying her roommate was at least bearable as a person so help their soul.

Looking at the board she saw she was roomed with a boy which she didn't care as long as he wasn't a pig or slob.
" 110,112 ah ha 115." She mumbled to herself opening her envelope that held her key to get into dorm.
Opening the door she took the bed closet to the door and started unpacking.

" This room is about the size of my bathroom at home. Dad's gonna have a fit when he sees it." Cammi said aloud to herself as she unpacked

Once she was finished she labeled their door with their names...
Camilla Johnson and William Louis Tomlin.
I wonder if he's actually gonna come.... She thought to herself

Gordon had just sat on the bed when his roommate finally arrived, elbows on his knees and his hands conjoined. Across his bed were strewn his still unpacked bags and hockey gear. The girl, he assumed to be Lillian, looked like a much better looking Denise Richards in his opinion. Well his assumption was correct as the girl introduced herself as Lily, taking the bed nearest to the door. He smiled in greeting as well. “How’s it goin’ Lily. You can just call me Gordie. Gordon makes me feel like an 80 year old.” He said with a quirk of his eyebrow in a joking fashion.

He wondered what this was going to be like. He never shared a billet with a girl. He had a sister back home but at least they had separate bedrooms. Here, he was sharing one with Lily. Guess no changing out in the open or any of that business. “So, I gots to apologize in advance, you know? Since I have to be up at like 4:45 in the AM every day for hockey practice. I’ll try not to disturb your beauty sleep, eh?” He informed her with a polite smile. Sleep was precious to college students so he might as well forewarn her. But if it didn’t bother her, at least there would never be conflicts in timing with the single bathroom they had to share.

Sighing, he slapped his knees as he stood up, perhaps acting like the 80-year-old he so refuted just a moment ago, like a tired old man having to get up for some labour or something. He took his hockey sticks and dropped them to the floor, kicking them under the bed, along with his skates. His bag of hockey gear he laid at the foot of the bed and took out his suitcase, beginning to unpack as well. Maybe he would stop by the gym before looking for a drink and getting acquainted with this place. It was his first time in Miami. Shit. You’re probably going to need American ID to get booze around here. His Canadian passport might work though. Or he’ll get laughed out of the store for a shitty “counterfeit” ID.

“So whatchu taking here, Lily?” He asked over his shoulder as he took out his clothing one by one, hanging them on the clothing line afforded to them in the alcove between the wall and the bathroom. Everything still seemed so bare but he was sure it would be made homely in the coming weeks. They had a sink but no fridge or even a microwave. They ought to get one in here. With his schedule, he rarely got to eat at set meal times. And who wanted to go down to the cafeteria or something for breakfast before his early morning practices?

Once most of his garments were set out, he put aside some shorts and a sleeveless tank to wear to the gym, along with a baggie of deodorant and other supplements. Yes, he was one of those type of exercise nuts. Powders. So many powders. Powders for protein, for meal supplements, for endurance and performance. “You ever need a boost, help yourself. Protein is chocolate cake flavoured. No actual chocolate though.” He offered to Lily, arranging the various little containers on his computer desk near to his bed. He didn’t doubt he had more such products than she did. He had cosmetic ones too, like gel and conditioner for his hair and that coconut soap he liked, brought all the way from Canada.

He had two phones, his Canadian line and his American one. The former was for calling home, the latter for his university needs. He spent a moment just setting that up. “Yo.” He called to Lily a moment later. “Can I get your digits? For room related issues.” He asked of her in a casual manner. “Anyways, I’ve been cramped on a plane for hours and need to find where the gym is in this place. You need anything from me, bud?”

Still no roommate. Given the situation, and the fact she'd have to bunk with a dude, she was more than alright with that. Even still she left the other half of the room alone. First come, first serve. For now. Irene got to unpacking her stuff. Most of her clothes consisted of leggings, tees, and tanks. Comfort over fashion. She'd spent enough years in clothes that didn't breathe and were wildly uncomfortable. A couple jackets and hoodies rounded it out for cold weather. Florida might never be cold to some but her blood was thinner than water. 120+ was fine by her but anything below 50 was frigid. Boots and sneakers, one pair of black kitten heels. Everything was put away compact and neat as a pin. Shower things were put away in a caddy, a make-up bag full of well expired product stowed away. The desk was outfitted with a small lamp, despite the large fluorescent light, and her shiny new HP Pavillion. The final touch was stark, Navy blue bed linens. The corners folded so neat, tight, absolutely perfect. Everything on her side spoke of regiment, discipline, no-nonsense.

Well that took hardly any time at all. Being used to travel, quick set ups and tear downs, it was just old hat. Irene glanced around the spartan room, made no better by her arrival, and huffed a sigh as she peered out the window. There was still plenty of time before orientation was supposed to begin. Campus rules, super duper little mixers(likely with mocktails since most normal college kids were underage), building locations, all the usual indoc things. She wondered if there were any off limit areas. Well she'd like to get a lay of the land, the campus couldn't be that large right? A nice jog to see everything around and find the gym wouldn't be so bad. Odds were she'd find it eventually.

Nodding to herself she grabbed some sneakers, ace bandage, wireless headphones, and shaker cup. Irene sat on the corner of her bed, rumpling the perfect lines, to tightly wrap her ankle with the bandage. Shoes on and scoop of RedCon1 Total War, Tiger's Blood flavor, into the powder stowage of her cup and she was ready to go. Already wearing a tank and leggings she was always ready for the gym. She filled up her cup with plain water and headed out of the dorm to so a little recon and PT.

Still bright and sunny, it would rain eventually. It always did in Florida. One hour power shower damn near every afternoon. Just as she exited the building she noted an apparent couple, the girl hanging off of a large young man. She executed a spin kick that brought a small, amused, smirk to Irene's lips. Cute. "Nice kick kiddo," she said loud enough to be heard as she pressed her headset into her ears. With the buds firmly in place she lit up another cigarette before heading off on her run. The burning stick of smooth, nicotine goodness bounced along with her stride. Forward was no problem on her right ankle, only turns got a little awkward. Right or left she had to come to a complete stop to turn herself. It made running annoying but she loved it.

Her run took her through a tour of campus. She scanned the buildings to get an idea of where classes might be held, where the dining hall was, there was even a little coffee shop. Perfect, she didn't function well without her good friend caffeine. She'd have to stop by later to see if their beans were any good. Of course she had drank some pretty nasty swill in her time. It was nice to see the campus was so close to the beach, a shame she couldn't run in sand anymore. Too much needed ankle rotation. Be nice enough to swim though, lay out in the warm sun.

The gym ended up being easy to find and not too far from the dorm. Her cigarette wasn't even finished by the time she made it. Irene halted by a garbage can to take the last few drags before dousing the cheery and tossing it away. She was barely sweaty and not even breathing hard as she mixed in her pre-workout and walked into the building. Her darker eyebrows rose and she gave a low whistle at the sight of the place. The size and scope of the gym made the tiny room totally worth it. A veritable cornucopia of equipment from cardio machines of varying sorts, weight machines for the lazy and unskilled, free weights and benches, and even some crossfit looking crap.

Irene headed straight over to the free weight area. With just a short jog and a long drive from Jax(Jacksonville to the uninitiated) her legs needed a good work. They were her greatest asset after all even if she had a bum right leg. It being move-in day the gym was fairly quiet thus far. She claimed a squat rack. A regular one too. Not one of those scaredy cat smith machines either. Squat right or fall over. Lesson learned. She grabbed four 45lb plates and two 10lbs to stack on her bar. Start off easy, 200lbs, to warm up and increased by 20 more pounds after twenty squats. She took her time, keeping her form tight. Fewer perfect sets was better than a lot of fucked up sets.

Cracking a smile she nodded “ Yeah of course, I’m sure there’s somebody selling some stuff, i’ll Sweet talk them, maybe give them a free painting or a shout out during one of my sets or something” She shrugged trying to think of something that she could offer. She looked over to him as he mentioned her namesake and smiled.

“ yeah the Greek goddess of Wisdom, it’s said she emerged from Zeus’s head after he had a headache that made him cry out in such pain it shook the earth. The other gods saw this and split Zeus’s head open with a wedge. There sprang out Athena fully formed and armoured and she became the Godess of intelligence and wisdom” She explained moving her hands as she spoke as she rolled down a sock to reveal a Zeus tattoo.

“Music? Oh dude, I love music, my dad got me into the hair metal bands and rock bands of the 70’s and 80. My mom got me into musical theatre and opera and I pretty much found myself loving 90’s and 00’s music. So I try to incorporate that kind of music into my sets, I’m working on a ‘Mr Brightside’ remix at the moment it’s almost done, just needs something else.” She explained as she hooked her portable harddrive to her computer.

“ how about you? What music tickles your tastebuds? You wanna go see what the scene is around here? There’s gotta be a party somewhere tonight maybe some cool clubs. Plus we might find someone selling something or find someone who knows somebody. Kinda like scooby doo but without fleas” she chuckled sticking her glasses on her head.

A loud groan left Will as he saw his chauffeur whoosh away in the Lamborghini that his parents had in their Miami Beach house. Sure, they could have let him stay their, but apparently, it wasn’t as fun as the ‘authentic college dorm experience.’ And plus, his flight had been delayed, and he was so, so late. Or maybe he wasn’t. He hasn’t bothered to read the handbook, but school started earlier back home.

He’d had someone shift his boxes into his dorm earlier, but apparently, he didn’t have a roommate yet. He hoped it remained that way for the rest of the year. If it was going to be a boy, he’d likely break and flirt with him if he was cute enough. He didn’t want others to know he was gay.

Grumbling for the hundredth time, he began stalking over to the dorms, which weren’t too hard to locate, what with the multiple students approaching them. His room came soon enough. As he pushed the door open, the size of the room left him flabbergasted. This wasn’t even half the size of his room back home! He hated it here already.

When he turned his head, he saw his roommate—thank god, it was a girl. “Uh, hello, love,” he muttered, dropping his backpack on the bed. “I’m, Uh, William. I’m guessing you’re, like, Camilla or something, from the sticker things outside,” he huffed, looking around. “Are you sure that this is a shared room? It’s so.. small,”

After unpacking Camilla decided to go by decorations for her half of the dorm and a mini fridge and a microwave. Halfway to her car she realized she forgot her phone on her bed. She turned to go back up went she saw a Lamborghini pull up.

" Damn, nice car." She said with a smile
" Cammi is that you?" Someone yelled
Turning around she saw her two of her exes....Layla and Kenneth.
" Hey what's up? Umm I didn't know y'all applied here." She said
" Yeah, we just got here. Umm we stay off campus. Anyway you need help with anything let me know." Kenneth said licking his lips
" Yeah, just let us know and we'll come and help. " Layla add " look I know we ended badly but I miss our friendship is it possible if."
"Maybe one day but today's not that day. You cheated on me with Kenneth who is also my ex and y'all are still together", Camilla snapped walking away rather quickly turning into a bathroom as the tears started flowing down her cheeks

As time went on she cleaned her face and headed to go get her phone.
She noticed someone coming out her dorm so she assumed it her roommate.
" Hey, William. Hold the door please." She yelled rounded the corner " I'm Camilla your roommate."

Will heard her obvious confession, and nodded. He just left the door open and then pulled his phone out, already on Instagram. He wasn't used to holding doors open for others, he usually had it done for him. He then looked up at Camilla once more.

"Let's, uh, talk, I guess. Where are you from?" He then ran his eyes over he outfit. He himself was dressed in all Gucci, a white sweater, high waisted jeans, and the Gucci belt. "Where do you shop? I'm getting more of a Dior or Gap vibe from you. Or maybe.. Hilfiger.."

"thanks for holding the door by the way." She said while grabbing her phone " I'm from Georgia. Buckhead specifically."

She looked over his outfit as she waited for him to lock up. Sadly the vibe she was getting from him was stuck up spoiled brat, but she grew up around slot of kids like him so she could handle it.
" At the moment I don't know who I'm wearing but usually I go for Hilfiger, Gucci,Prada, fashion Nova or I make my clothes." She explained " even though I know you think your better then me, I'm gonna invite you to come with me to get some things for our room. I'll drive, cause I'm guessing you don't know how to drive, and have a personal driver on call." Shaking her head she started walking away " come on we should hurry we have orientation later."

Amber hues honed in on the Zeus tattoo as she informed him on Goddess of Wisdom, Athena. Eren awed with envy at the portrait of Zeus located on her calf. He sighed softly as he was reminded that his own body was still a blank canvas left with plenty of room for artwork. "Wow, you really do know a lot about Athena. You must be very passionate about ancient Greece to go and get a tattoo of Zeus. You should get one of Athena, if you haven't already." He said jokingly.
"But, that IS a sick tattoo!" He beamed.
"Its a shame, I don't have any of my own yet. I might have to take a trip to go get some ink soon myself. But don't worry, I'll bring you along to commemorate the occasion later. "

'Hair metal bands?...' The retro term resounded in Eren's head. 'Where have I heard that before?' He cupped his chin and rubbed the stubble of peach fuzz on it for a moment- apparently in deep thought. The MotorCity native knew well enough not associate it with something as silly as a metallic hair accessory. Then it came to him- words and lyrics suddenly started subconsciously spilling out of Eren's lips before he new it. "Ah, yeah, I remember Rolling Stones magazine covered the topic on hair metal bands a while back." And as he said this, something incredible happened, he started to sing aloud, " I, wanna Rock n Roll all niiiight - and party everyday ! " because one of the most notorious band name's in history surfaced in his mind, KISS who had a song aptly called, 'Detroit ROCK City'. He remembered Warrants - Cherry Pie. Humming it softly to himself, and then pausing for a moment. " Oh. Oh. Oh!" He exclaimed excitedly while snapping his fingers before singing, "Every rooosse has its thorns! " By Poison.

Music was one of the many topics that he was passionate about. Talking to Athena was like taking a trip through a time machine. Majestic. She was talking to someone from a city responsible for producing numerous artist over the past decades, way before either he or she was born. A city revered for it's history. Detroit.

"Yeah. Hair metal bands were really cool back in the day. But- " he hesitated for second- leaving the air filled with suspense. " I like a wide variety of music. I come from a city that's famous for its versatility. So with that being said, I also like both old school and modern pop music such as Aerosmith, Dream On., Erm Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal, Smash Mouth - All Star. He chuckled at the goofy lyrics that filled his head. Trapt- Headstrong. Sum41- Still Waiting. Uhm. Miley Cyrus - Party in the U.S.A., Maroon 5, Lil Nas X - Old Town Road. Billie Ellish. Also a little Hip-hop, like Eminem & J. Cole. Some R & B - Usher, Selena Gomez & Rhianna. I'm all over the place really, so long as I'm able to get a vibe and the lyrics are understandable. I'm in."

He waited for a moment to gauge Athena's reaction to his wild taste in music before continuing, "Yeah, it's pretty stuffy in here. We only have one window. So it'll do us some good to go & get some fresh air every once in a while. We have some time kill before Orientation. A house party sounds like a great idea ! You think you could be the DJ if we found someone that's willing to host one? We might find our future mini fridge, stove & microwave on sale somewhere while we're out. We should look for clues! Like ! C'mon gang!" He said mocking the punk rock Velma ( another Auburn, red head ), using Shaggy's tendency to say " Like" as he got up and headed to the dorm door.

~~~
Attached to the front of their door was a flyer. When he arrived it wasn't there. "Like, this could be our first clue Scoob." Eren mocked one last time before dropping the act. "It looks like an invitation for 2 students to move into an apartment across the streets called ..." He read the next part very slowly as in disbelief, as if mocking the property managers for their laziness, "Across The Street Apartments. The room appears to belong to someone named, Melanie. No indication of a last name is present. I've got an idea. What if 'WE' threw them a house warming party? How cool does that sound?"
Eren smiled happily. This could potentially be one big thing that they could cross off their to-do list.
Lily laughed lightly at his comment, understanding where he was coming from. Being called Lillian wasn't necessarily music to her ears. Usually only hearing it when she was in some short of trouble with her parents. "Gordie it is then." she replied chipperly. Taking in a couple more moments to study her new roomie she was careful not to linger, despite him looking like a damn fitness model. "I see you snagged the good spot." she said teasingly, nodding her head in the direct of the opposite bed. In reality in made no difference to her, as they were obviously the same. He'd learn to pick up on her playful nature sooner or later.
"4:45 huh? Ouch." her voice called over from the stack of clothes that now sat in tall, neat piles on her bed. "No worries. I'm up around that time myself so we shouldn't have any issues there, but if not" she paused to hold up a pair of air pods, indicating that she would be sleeping to music. She appreciated the consideration, and the heads up. "The beach is always best to run early on." she added as she started to slip her clothing onto hangers. " I have practice as well, just not until the evenings after I teach my class." She had already prepared to put in the extra time for practice, since she had taken on the roll to help instruct some of the dance classes. The dance studio being in partnership with MU allowed her to stay close to campus.
It had been a small struggle to squeeze her clothing into the closet. Once it was done she stepped back with a victorious sigh. She hadn't planned on unpacking completely, just enough to keep organized in the shared space. Fortunately, she was tidy person by nature and didn't see that as a problem in their future. She had already began to make a mental list of things needed to make this place more livable. Things that they could pick up here and there. All in good time of course. As of now, she was ready to get back outside into that Florida sun. She was sure she heard a drink calling her name from the bar she had passed on the ride here. Remembering it was within walking distance.
Grabbing a plain, olive green tee and faded jean shorts she stepped into the bathroom while it was clear and quickly changed. Once clothed again she stepped out, unwrapping her thick hair from its ponytail gave it a quick tussle. "I'm a Fine Arts major. Mostly to help my career as a professional dancer. What'd about you?" she had noticed his haul of hockey equipment when she first walked in. A sport that she was actually familiar with since one of her brothers played in high school.
" I might have to take you up on that. After about six hours of practice and I'm done." she laughed, looking at the arrangement of powers and supplements. Little by little she emptied her bathroom items into the small space, keeping her ungodly amount of hair products and cosmetics in a container under her bed. Deciding it was best not to allow the bathroom to look like Bath & Bodyworks threw up everywhere.
"Yeah, sure thing." Lily shrugged as she reach for the IPhone plugged in at her nightstand. After exchanging numbers she agreed with him about feeling restless. "Ugh, I envy your dedication. Pretty sure I saw the gym sign on the way into the dorms. I'm actually going to make myself scarce, this girl needs a drink." she grabbed for her purse and slipped the cell inside. "Don't have too much fun." Lily grinned, giving him a quick wink before heading towards the door and back out into the still chaotic hallway. Like before she hustled through the dense crowds until she made it outside.
