Rune quickly followed his husband, freezing instantly when a somber policemen was in front of them.

"Mr's Lin?" He questioned, looking from one to the other and then to the blond in front of him. "I am sorry to tell you this. We found your sons... in the water." He paused and bowed his head even more. "I am so sorry, sirs. So very sorry. They did not make it. It was too dark, too cold. "He apologized a few more times before leaving.

Rune was frozen. His eyes wide and his face pale. His hand rested over his lips before he ran off to the other room. Pouring his lunch and anything left in his stomach in the toilet. Curling up after the bowl flushed and the tears passed. Flowing over his cheeks and the man curled up tightly, not even caring anymore who could see him. What was happening. He lost three of his children within twenty-four hours. How could he keep that sadness in?

Calder was numb. He stood with the door still wide open until well after the police had left until something clicked in his head. He heard Rune and his heart clenched tighter. The blond rushed into the bathroom and knelt on the floor next to his husband, pulling him up to sit and into his form tightly. His head buried in his husband's chest, the tears falling now as he tried to offer some sort of strength for Rune, too. But he knew that they were both beyond helping each other at that point. "R-relic..." His brother-in-law's name was softly choked out. They needed help and Relic was likely the only one Rune would allow to see him like this.

Rune sobbed into his husband's chest. His eyes closed and he pressed into his husband even more. His stomach was churning and he just wanted to die right now. He could not believe this. He just could not. He could not even get his breath. He oculd not stop crying. His whole world was beginning to crumble and he did not know what to do.

Relic quickly made his way over to where the two were. His eyes went wide and he even froze at the sight. He could not remember the last time he saw his brother like this. He quickly moved to the two, pulling them into his chest and he hugged them tightly "Oh... Oh no." he whispered, kissing their temples and trying to think of what to do to help

"Bed." They needed to be in bed, despite anything else. They would take care of everything else later but in that moment, neither were in any shape to talk to any of their children. Calder was only marginally better off than Rune, but he was sure it was because the shock had not worn off yet. But he didn't have the physical strength. And then Rune's own thoughts pierced through and Calder stiffened suddenly. "No. No I cannot go through that Rune and so help me God I'll resurrect you and kill you again!" He needed his husband. Their children needed them both. As they were guided upstairs, Calder told his lover this over and over again, hoping to get through to him.

Rune collapsed onto the bed in a pathetic heap of being. He pulled his knees to his chest. Leaning forward, he buried his face into his knees, trying to find some sort of strength. He pulled Calder to his form, pressing his face into his chest and he let the tears fall once more.

Relic left, his phone instantly pulling to his ear and he soon hung up after a brief conversation. He would need to find a way to tell the rest of the kids. He did not really know how to.

Within a half hour, Andrea strolled through the house and found Rune in the room. She walked over to the bed, sitting on the edge of the mattress. Her arm wrapped around his shoulders and she pulled him into her embrace. Kissing his forehead and the man instantly sobbed into her chest, his arms wrapping around her form and he even managed to utter a pathetic 'mom'. Looking over at Calder, the woman offered her other arm to him, definitely wanting to comfort both men, knowing they would need it.

He wanted to pull Rune away from her; to comfort him himself. But Calder knew that he was in no shape to do that. He didn't have the strength, and he didn't know how. The blond crawled over and sunk into his mother-in-law's embrace, pulling Rune into his own arms as well, kissing his hair and cheek and temple as they cried together, sobbing out their grief for their children. This wasn't supposed to happen. It was one of the perks of being with someone like Rune-they would never have to suffer the loss of their children, and they would always be around to torture those same children. And yet, here they were. Calder felt lost and he felt not whole anymore.

Andrea looked down at the two, sighing softly as she did so. She pressed a kiss to each of their heads before she closed her eyes and rested her head against Rune's head, holding them both tightly. "It's okayy." She whispered to the two of them, kissing their head a couple times and her eyes slipped closed. "The pain dulls, Rune. It does. I promise you, okay?" She closed her eyes as she pulled him closer.

Rune sobbed into both of their forms. Pulling Calder closer as he leaned into his mother's warm embrace. He may not like her most of the time, but she was still his mother. He still loved her. He still needed her. Especially right now. "But ... but all three of them .. They just..." He choked up and cut himself off as he pressed into Calder.

"Shhh..." Calder tried to speak, but his own throat tightened and even the soft shushes he was making were broken and trembling, much like he and his husband were at that moment in time. The blond kissed Rune, needing the small comfort as much as he wanted to give it. He felt helpless and useless and completely overwhelmed.

It was hours (or at least it had felt like hours) before he'd cried himself out. His stomach muscles hurt, his chest hurt, eyes face was puffy and it felt like someone had cut a gaping hole into his heart. But Calder couldn't cry anymore if he tried. He was too exhausted. The blond pulled away, muttering about having to do something...anything. And so he found himself in the kitchen, the place he was most comfortable, with every flat surface covered in something: flour for rolling biscuit dough, sugar and chocolate from the brownies, chopped vegetables for soup, spices, oil, water, butter... If it was normally in their pantry, it was now spread out over their entire kitchen.

Andrea soon laid Rune down when he eventually passed out from exhaustion and heartache. She covered him up and then made her way into the kitchen. She spotted the blond and walked over to him. An arm looping around his waist and she pulled him into her side. "It may not seem it, but you two are holding up fairly well." She whispered, kissing his cheek and trying to comfort him. "Rune is asleep."

Oh yes. They were holding up spectacularly for having just lost their three sons. His husband, who was usually so strong, had broken and Calder felt like he was losing his mind inside of the grief that surrounded him. He looked around and noted that nothing was in the oven or on the stove-he was in a preparation cycle-and so the blond shrugged, turned, and left the kitchen. He didn't mean to be rude to Andrea, but somewhere the thought surfaced that she'd understand. It felt like the world was moving around him while he stood in one place. His legs were heavy as he climbed the stairs and then into bed with his husband, curling around him as Calder wished that he could somehow crawl into him. He couldn't get close enough.

The weeks went by and Rune did not leave the bed. He barely left to go to the bathroom, only forced to shower every once in a while before he would just crawl into bed again and try to wither away and die if he could. He could not stand the thought of doing anything. Andrea had taken to the house chores. Attempting to feed the men and even their kids did not seem to make a difference. She was sure she had seen every single grandchild she never knew about surface and yet not one managed to get the man to do anything.

It was at least three months later that Rune woke up in the middle of the night. His black locks to his shoulders and a bit of scruff on his chin. He made his way out of bed and into the bathroom. Showering. Trimming his hair to chin-length in the front, and spiky in the back. He was done with being broken. He was going to get over this. And he was going to stop punishing his living children and family for the dead.

Calder had stayed with his husband for several weeks, unable to do anything other than lay there. He felt guilty, sometimes. Everyone was trying to help them and they kept pushing everyone away. But neither could help it, and he felt like neither of them should have to be able to help it. Yes, their children had lost their siblings, but that was nothing compared to losing your own children. At least not in his mind.

But by the sixth week, he was sick of staying in bed. While he didn't feel up to going outside and seeing everyone be so happy while he was so miserable, the blond forced himself to resume some of his chores...and showering on a regular basis. He was so worried about his husband, though, and as the weeks continued to drag on, the worry increased. The blond was aware of Rune's every move, since they were so few and far between. He felt the bed shift in his light sleep, and the blond opened his eyes as he heard the shower running. He moved over to the bathroom, wrapping his arms around his lover's waist from behind, his cheek resting against his back.

"Are we going to be okay, Rune?"

Rune was currently running the razor over his chin, getting away with any of the annoying stubble and he then leaned over to wahs off his face. Straightening once more, he padded off his face and then turned in the other's arms. He leaned down and kissed his lips. "we're going to be okay." he whispered, arms wrapping around his shoulders. He pressed his face into the top of his head and he nuzzled into the man a little more. "We have each other. We have our other children. We're not alone. And .... they have each other now." He pressed his head stronger into the other's, pulling him tighter. "I don't know what I would do if I were to lose Relic. I ... I cannot say I would do any different. Now I may, but before. When it was just us..."

"But...but it wasn't just them..." Calder never claimed to understand what it was like to be a twin or a triplet, but he also didn't understand why Severus and Draco took their own lives when they had so many people around them who loved them and would have helped them through it. The blond hugged his husband tightly, head resting on his chest as he soaked in the feeling of Rune. He'd missed this feeling, even though it was selfish to feel that way.

"We'll have to have the kids over...in a few days. And your mother. She was so helpful..." They hadn't been fair to their families, and the blond wanted to try to make it up to all of them. "Then...maybe we can go Avalon for a little while?" They hadn't spent time on their island for a long while. Maybe it would be just what they needed...

Rune nodded, kissing the blond's head softly. "That sounds wonderful, my love." He kissed his temple and then cheek and pulled him into a tighter hug. "A nice little getaway with just us." He hugged him tighter, sighing a little bit more. "Do we have any chocolate?"

He chuckled a little. It was three in the morning and his husband was thinking about chocolate. Of course, it helped that in Calder's state, baking and cooking were the only things that focused him away from his pain and because Rune hadn't been eating, there was quite a large stock pile of chocolate in the house. "There are brownies in the pantry. Chocolate chip cookies in the cupboard above the fridge. Chocolate covered strawberries in the fridge. Fudge in the fridge too. Homemade chocolate ice cream-about two gallons-in the freezer. Two chocolate cakes on the counter. Homemade chocolate candies in your bedside drawer... I forget where I put everything else."

Rune took a hold of the other's hips, twirling their forms and giggling as he kissed him. "That's why I married you." he whispered, taking his hand and moving through the house. He hopped into the kitchen, taking up his lover and setting him onto the counter. He then took up the chocolate covered strawberries, two wine glasses, and a lovely red wine. Pouring themselves a glass and he then hopped up beside him. Taking a fruit, he popped the whole thing into his mouth, leaning over to kiss Calder with a smile. "I love you, Calder."

"I think Relic got tired of hearing you proclaim you didn't want to be married and drugged you to do it." The blond smiled at his husband as the other man gathered what was their first 'meal' together in months. The words pierced him and, for a moment, his pain dulled just slightly. While Calder knew that Rune loved him, it was still a very rare thing to hear his husband say those words. "I love you, too." He rested his head on the other man's shoulder as he drank the wine that was handed to him.

Rune leaned over and kissed his lips softly. He then pulled away to begin eating his food with a sigh. His forefinger trailed along the rim of the glass, eyes to the crimson liquid and he sighed heavily. "Maybe we'll have grandkids soon. Trevor still hasn't given us any." He smiled, looking up at the other and he sihged softly. "I don't want to just have other kids. We can't replace them that way... Despite the emptiness. I just ... I don't know what to do."

Looking up, he kissed his husband. "I don't think there's anything we can do, Rune. They--they're gone." He sighed, letting the words sink in. It was probably the first time Calder had ever said them out loud. "Let's just... Take it as it comes. We'll go to Avalon-it'll be good for us. We can decide about work and kids and whatever else after we get back. For now, let's just finish grieving."

Rune nodded, kissing his lips softly. "We never really did get our long getaway." He mumbled, kissing him a few more times before he pulled away with a sigh. Oh how he hated how he was not even up for sex. He sighed, sipping more of the wine before he poured himself another glass. "I really do love you.' He added, turning to look at Calder, just wanting to be sure that the man heard the words again. He definitely did not say them enough, and now, he wanted to be positive that his husband knew it.

He smiled and nuzzled into his lover's neck. "I know you do, Rune. If you didn't, you wouldn't have married me and you would have shot me the second you got pregnant." Calder smiled at him, daring him to say otherwise. "And besides. I am your unlimited source of homemade chocolates. How could you not love me?" He kissed the other once more before hopping off of the counter to put the glasses in the sink and the strawberries back in the fridge. "Come to bed?" They both needed a good and true night's sleep. Especially if their entire family would be over in the next few days.

Rune smirked. "mm. So you've found the secret to why I'm with you." he teased, hopping off the counter and then walking over to the male. His arms looped around his hips and he gladly began to walk back to bed with him. "We should probably change the sheets, huh?"

He wrinkled his nose. "Um, yes." Before, he couldn't get his lover out of the bed long enough to do so.

Calder soon found himself in the kitchen again, cooking for the...thousand? Well the loads of people who would be swarming upon their house in a few short hours. He'd sent Rune off to tidy the house a bit, and on various other errands-if he went out, people would stare and ask questions. When Rune went out, people looked away in fear of their lives. "Rune! Can you come taste this?"

Rune came into the kitchen with his hands full of bags. He walked over to the other, leaning over his shoulder to take in some of the food he was making. He paused a bit and pulled back. "Bit more salt, my love." He kissed his cheek and then set the bags down before sighing softly. "i'm going to go see Relic before he has a coronary." He kissed him again and then turned to make his way to the other side of the house,.
