"Here stood the past, and then comes the future. You'll never understand." Vigil looked down towards his prisoner, shaking his head. "I'll never understand, nor will I want to. I'm simply a soldier following through with his job." One of his hands traced down a bloody desk. Tools after tools did his hand drift through, finding the one he needed most.

It was the right tool for the job, for many jobs of this kind. "I'll ask you again, don't make this anymore difficult for me. Where is the artifact?" The prisoner shook in his chair, rustling the chains that bound him. "Futile. Don't struggle. You're only making this harder for yourself." He spat at Vigil's white mask. "Unamusing. Looks like you have no more to give me. Sorry Adriana. But this is just business."

Here lies the fate of Adriana, once called the traitor of vampire-kind. Little did she know, this was the fault of another. A blame placed on her so well that even the gods would condemn her. However, this was a different timeline. A different story that did not coalesce with the stories of other timelines. In some timeline's Vigil was on the receiving end of the bullet. In other's they were more then enemies, they were lovers. This was a possible future that these characters faced. All it took was one, wrong choice to take it all away.
"Adriana." Vigil sighed. "Adriana. Its time to wake up." He shook her sleeping body with enough force to wake even the strongest of sleepers. "You have a job to do. Here's your assignment." A folder dropped from his hands onto her lap. Nearby was a dish of sliced potatoes and beef stew. "Eat up. I made it myself." He pulled over a chair, bringing the dish to his lap and grabbing a spoonful of the soup. "Open up. It's time to eat. You're not going to fall asleep on me again are you? I will wake you up the same way you wake me."
Downstairs
Nev smiled, laying on Crow's lap. It was a while since they were spending some alone time together. With the advent of each coming quest, there was not enough time to relax. There was never enough time to enjoy time with each other. One job after another, it was all about focusing on their career. They were hired mercenaries, who only met out of sheer chance. Only after years of working together birthed something more than a working relationship. She was more than just a girlfriend to him. She was also family.
