Lillian had been working on her book when the knock came. There was no way she could alert Fang or his family his mother was there. Yet she went to the window, positioned near the door. She opened it letting the wolf see the damage Tessa did to her throat. "Fang isn't here. Can I take a message?" She asked with her hand dropping to her lower stomach where the womb was sitting.
 
"No lilian, i came to ralk with you, can i come in? Please?" She asked very calmly. "I promise, im not here to fight" she said looking close tears again.
 
In silence she stood there looking at the wolf closely. Her instincts told her not to trust this female and she smelled of tears but that can be faked. Shutting the window she grabbed a pair of shorts and a knife. Once she returned to the door she unlocked it and opened it as she stepped aside, glaring at the woman. "I'm only talking to you because you gave birth to my fiancé. Speak quickly..."
 
Martha entered and sat near the door "i want to make peace between us" she said unable to look her in the eyes. "I was wrong to do what i did last night" she said swollowing her pride. "Theres so few of us pure bloods left, Klaws gone to serve the military, and so many of the young ones are leaving" she said trying not to cry. "Fangs my oldest, i dont want to be cut from his life" she said as tears escaped her eyes. "I cant bare to be cut from my grandchildrens lives... i was so angry i didn't want to listen or see.... then tessa came back after she came here and informed us fang was ready to kill her if she hurt you and that you were pregnant with his children. ... im sorry lilian... for being rude and vile to you".
 
Her eyes were narrowed at this point as she listened to the woman while she moved back and forth like a predator ready to defend themselves. Upon hearing her apology she smirked at her. "I'll forgive you but not your behavior. But your actions may have drove Fang away for good. We haven't decided if we're going to keep this cabin but let the younger ones have it or Klaw when he returns."
 
She nodded keeping her eyes down "i understand" she said softly as she cried quietly. "I... i want you to have this" she said reaching into her apron and pulled out a necklace. "It belonged to my mother in law, she gave it to me when i married fangs father. Its the claw of the direwolf, passed from mother in law to daughter in law, for protection and strength"she said gently placing it in lilians hand. "You are a part of us, and we of you... i hope in time we can heal the rift between us" she said softly looking her in the eye with a weak smile before leaving the cabin and getting in the truck with her husband to drive home.
 
Lillian watched the pair to see the Husband had been driving the truck. Perhaps she was shamed and her apologizing wasn't her idea. Lillian put the necklace on the kitchen table while she went back to work typing away at the laptop, soft music playing in the background. But she couldn't shake the feeling this whole rift thing wasn't going to be healed or if it did then it will be reopened.
 
A short time later fang and his siblings returned bloody with a pair of large rabbits each. "Gods that was fun, i haven't had a good hunt in months" he said laughing as the youngest still had mud all over his face from going face first into a mudpile. "Easy for you to say you didn't get mud up your nose" the teenager grumbled. "Hey i told you clint he was gonna fake you out, next time youll listen" fang said with a laugh.
 
Her ears perked up and went to the door to see the group. Giggling as she took a quick picture of the group. "Perfect!" Laughing at their reactions but she didn't say anything as she imagined her wolf would see the tire tracks and the familiar scent. "Hey, I made mistakes when I hunted before. My brothers made it hard on me." She walked out telling the teenagers. "I have two brothers so they make things hard for me."
 
The girls were in awe, "your so pretty, and a hunter?" They said starstruck. The boys were equally shocked as the ones that ran with her last night didn't say anything of her skills. "No worries, these pups have a knack, they just get over eager" fang said with a smirk. "Haha" clint grumbled, his pride wounded "we better get home so mom can cook these before they spoil" the eldest of the girls said "later lovebirds" she teased, her tomboy grin much like fangs "be careful rose, keep them on the path home, if i gotta come find you lot youd better be dead or ill kill you myself " he said with a fake threat met with laughter.
 
Lillian smacked Fang on his back making the girls laugh harder. With a smile she let him himself knowing he'd catch his mother's scent. "Yeah she came by but I'm not sure if her tears were real or your dad forced her to apologize with a threat." Going to the room she grabbed the necklace and showed it to him. "I'm not sure if this is her way of apologizing and actually meaning it."
 
fangs eyes went wide as he looked at the old necklace his mother always wore and never took off. "mom never parted with this... ever, and she would get angry with us if we touched it" he explained. "no, no no no mom would never part with this unless she truely accepted what she was told, mom proud, too proud to appologize unless she knows beyond a shadow of a doubt she was wrong" he explained. "if she gave this to you then shes accepted you, truely accepted you, just, give her some time and youll see" he said gently taking the necklace and slipping it over her head.

"trust me... this is a good thing" he said with a smile and kissed her "I should clean up, I made a bit of a mess with those rabbits hehe" he said with a chuckle.
 
"Babe..." she called out to him as he went to grab a shower. "She believes I'm pregnant and that was the first thing that came out of her mouth before she gave me the necklace." As she spoke she took the necklace off but she held on to it. "Perhaps we should do a test....In awhile you tell her I had a miscarriage and see what happens."
 
fang stopped at the door and looked back to her "babe... its not a lie, for her knowing we have a child on the way proved her wrong, proved that you are my lifemate" he said. "but if you truely wish to test her, we can tell her you miscarried when tessa attacked you" he said. "and in a few weeks after we get home and settled we can call her and tell her the good news together, provided what she said was true, but thats yours" he said pointing to the necklace "its tradition" he said with a smile "every wolf who sees it will know your mine" he smirked and winked going into the bathroom.
 
With what he told her made her look at the necklace. To know that this was the only thing that told other wolves she was his. That just didn't sit well with her as she let him shower, she sat at the kitchen table in silence with her gazing at the necklace that looked more like a collar within his family. Yet she looked at the engagement ring that they picked out together. To her the ring, him announcing they were together was good enough for her. Was he using this necklace his way of keeping her in line? Or other females off his cock even when he told her the males mounted many females often?

Groaning as she pushed the necklace away with her dropping her head in her arm, she was confused about everything. Without a word she left the cabin and walked along an old path to a point where she could sit down to think in silence.
 
a short time later fang came out confused that she was gone and the necklace on the table, his mother had hurt her deep. standing on the porch he could only wait and hope she was alright, holding his face in his hand he felt powerless to make things right. Lillian sat there just enjoying nature to let it clear her mind of all thoughts. Sighing as she rubbed her neck while the thought of that necklace sent chills down her spine. In silence she got up and ventured back to the cabin but stopped short to see Fang's twin in his embrace. She stood in her shorts that hugged the curve of her hips while Fang's torn shirt was bit bloody. Her long black hair was in a messy bun with locks falling over her shoulders but the once clean bandage was a contrast to her spotted fur.
 
"LILIAN!" he shouted with suprise and excitment as he ran to her grabbing her up and spinningnher around "I was worried about you, come, meet my brother, hes home, gods hes home" he said leading her back. "brother this is lilian, my lifemate" fang said excited "mom was right... shes beautiful" he said with a short bow to her. "mom told me about what happened last night... she hasnt been that ashamed since before grandpa Don passed" Klaw said. "now... weres my tessa?" klaw asked with a smirk as he crossed his arms.
 
Lillian laid her ears back with her hissing. "Surely he's not your brother or he'd have standards." Growling at Klaw with her walking by Klaw clearly she wasn't in the mood to be friendly as hearing Klaw mention his mother and Tessa in one breath set her in a foul mood. With fur bristled she slammed the door shut on the two so she didn't have to listen to either of them at the time being. She flexed her claws with her wanting to scratch at the bandages but was fighting the urge.
 
both blinked at that and looked at eachother "shes got spirit" he said and patted his shoulder "tessa attacked her last night" fang explained. "ah.... understandable, dont worry, nature will show the way" he said with a smile "tell my sister in law I ment no offence and I look forward to the wedding" he said with a smile. "be safe brother" klaw said "and you brother, ive missed to much time with you" fang said as the 2 parted ways. once inside fang very calmly approched lilian "Klaw asked me to offer his appologiese, hed do it himself but he could tell your pissed" fang said knowing she was edging on rage.
 
"I imagine you didn't tell him his girlfriend tried to fuck you in front of me..." Narrowing her eyes as she looked at Fang with her ears still pinned back against her hair. Her claws flexed at her throat with her wanting to scratch the wounds. Now her mind was racing after hearing Tessa was fucking Klaw but his mother sent her to get knocked up by Fang. Though she looked down at the Direwolf necklace and her engagement ring. "Why must I wear the collar?" She tapped the necklace as she called it what she felt like what it was, him claiming she was his but he can fuck whoever. Just like the other wolves.
 
"lilian... Klaw was always tessas lifemate... he never made a move because of what mom wanted. now hes home, what mom and tessa did was fucked up yes, but Klaw and I will make all of this right. and the necklace is a sacred relic, passed down to the wives of the shamens for protection from dark spirits" he explained as he tried to remain calm. "Lily... my family are proud people, and when we make a mistake and swallow that pride to try and make things right, it matters" he explained. "Klaw knows everything, hes pissed at mom and tessa both for what theyve done, and is going to straighten tessa out as soon as he finds her. mom has already admitted her wrongs and wants to make them right, im asking" he said dropping to his knee before her "im pleading, please, try to forgive and let go" he said looking up at her.
 
Lillian was gritting her teeth letting him see her fangs while she tried to stay calm for him. "What I understand is...This is passed down from mother in law to daughter in law... You said this was to show the others I am yours, in your words. So what is to show the others you are mine?" There it was. Tears rolling down her cheeks as she looked at him with her entire body trembling with tears hitting the table top. "I have forgiven your mother but not her behavior and what she has done. I haven't forgive neither her or Tyson for nearly killing me."
 
it was there before him, equality, cupping her face he made her look up at him "I am so sorry my love, its... something uncommon to my people, tell me... when the males of your people take a mate, how do they mark themselves to show who they belong to. "Depends on preferences." Her throat was hurting now but she struggled to keep talking. "We wear the same token the male could wear it as a necklace, belt buckle, bracelet, ear ring, ring or arm bands. Women, we have the same choices but we all keep it in sight along with the wedding bands. "As for your brother and Tessa..." Lillian had to bite her tongue with her looking down at the table top as she knew he loved his twin brother so as they said Nature dictates love. In silence she passed the necklace to Fang. "He needs all the luck he can get with the disease carrier he's imprinted on."
