Beginner Friendly RPG?

Hi there.

Some friends of mine recently got me into D&D and I find it really fun, but we have not gotten very far and don't play often enough for me to feel super confident in my understanding of everything. I'm interested in getting involved in either D&D or something similar, but I would need to play something where the DM and other players will be beginner friendly.

By any chance does the goddess Eilistraee or someone similar exist in your setting?

If so, this fair damsel would be a sorceress of shadows and moonlight with the blood of a silver dragon flowing in her viens, equaly deft with a silvery rapier and a well timed spell.

ovalteenies Are you certain you want to try the Arcane Archer route? That class is going to be expensive.

Tenshi gods are what they are and there are thousands of them throughout dnd history so sure you can worship whomever they tend not to mess with gameplay too much.

Though after Tenshi I am going to close accepting new people until I see how many people want in because the group is getting big.

Not learning but using, your arrows have to be magical in order for Arcane Shot to be used.

Pg 29 Once per turn when you fire a magic arrow from a
shortbow or longbow as part of the Attack action, you
can apply one of your Arcane Shot options to that ar—
row.

The very cheapest magical arrow is 47 per arrow a quiver of 50 of them cost 2,350 Every time you hit with that arrow no matter if you recover it or not it loses its magic.

That cost a lot quickly.

The class feature literally right before that one turns any nonmagic arrow you fire into a magic arrow just long enough for you to shoot somebody with it.

Oh damn, must have missed that. I got all hyped by the features that some stuff blurred. But regarding this, sage advice says that the description was an error and the skill doesn't need a magical arrow to be usable.

Okay with the errata you are good.

AlexisKhepri without the errata that class feature would not have fixed the problem until too late. In the guide to everything, the arcane archer does not get the ability to turn their arrows magical until 7th level, meaning levels 3-4 would not have had magic.
Which would mean he would have been spending his money on arrow instead of improving every other facet of his character in its formative levels.

The points are moot, I was trying to warn about a potential pitfall and was unaware of the errata but this works.

If you really want that subclass I will allow it.

Sweeeet, thanks.

And yeah, it would either feel like I'm potentially dropping gold down the drain per fight or I would be saving the ability so much to the point of being useless.

Is this still open? Illven poked me about a sexy D&D game... >.> If you're still accepting players, I'm interested as a kinda fey-touched elf in tune with her sexuality~

Hmm...11/15/14/10/15/11, lots of ways I could take this build, especially if I open things to Half-Elf. Easily mind-controlled martial, easily grappled caster...I really like the idea of monk, but that would shut down both of those fun rapey paths during any adventure...

...I guess I should probably ask to confirm how much we can expect monsters to try and have their way with us. >.>

Ooh wait, elf is pretty limiting, and I had a new idea. ^U^

Let me see how many people who said they are interested actually send me something in the next couple days I will let you know by the 10th. I so far have only Tenshi and Ovalteenies characters, I am counting about 6 people already showing interest.

Sue's right here for your viewing pleasure. What else does she need?

Race: Goliath
Background: Performer (Gladiator)
Class: Barbarian 1
Height: 8' 4"
Weight: 552 lbs

Stats: Str 17/Dex 14/Con 16/Int 10/Wis 11/Cha 11
Saves: +5/+2/+5/+0/+0/+0
Trained Skills: Acrobatics +4, Athletics +5, Intimidate +2, Perception +2, Performance +2

Initiative: +2
Armor Class: 15
Hit Points: 15
Speed: 30 ft

Still figuring out gear...

She can probably carry around a party member in her rack, as long as they're small enough. Here's a basic size comparison between Onyx and Sue to show how that would work:

Will probably add more details to that pic, if Illven wants something a bit more detailed. :p

More than likely. I am still waiting for the other 3 who showed interest but I have not heard anything from any of them and frankly, I really would like someone who gets up close and personal with enemies.

Oh yeah, Onyx will definitely be up for that. I mean, she's probably gonna have a longbow (greatbow if I can find one) for when she needs ranged stuff, but most of time it's gonna be "big ol' axe/hammer to the face" (still haven't decided on the melee weapon). Also, I intend to have her grapple people, even though I think it takes like three feats to get good at that. >.>

Damn Onyx, talk about death by snu snu

No kidding. Onyx can carry 510 lbs without being slowed down, too (or 170? I wasn't sure which one we were using >.>). Either way, she could probably carry somebody around like in that pic all day, especially if they're smaller and lighter than average. :p

Heh, my character is a gladiator barbarian as well. I can come up with a lot of different stuff though. What are we missing right now (I don't think I'm ready for playing a mage type just yet)?
