Office Romances don't work...do they? (Nightstalker x Candi)

Chris smiled at her words and took a few sips of his coffee before buttering part of the pancakes and cutting off a bite size piece. It did indeed taste good and licking his lips he spoke softly. "Was thinking around mid morning I would come into work and help you out."

She nodded and took a bite of her pancakes, loving the taste. "Mmmm, these are great. I would love for you to do that. I could use your help getting through all of the resumes."

Chris's blue eyes stole furtive glances across the table towards her in between bites of his pancake and sips of his coffee. Hearing her words he felt relieved and also joyed that he could do some thing to help ease her busy work load. Reaching across with his right hand long muscular thick fingers gently took hers giving it a squeeze before lifting it and placing a soft kiss on the back of it. "Then I will come in about 10am."

"It sounds good to me," she said with a little smile. She squeezed his hand and took another bite of her pancakes, smiling at him from across the table.

Noticing the small smile spreading across her face his own smile widened, his eyes sparkled and blue eyes became much brighter. Letting go of her hand he continued to eat his breakfast and sip his coffee soon finishing both. "So should I bring anything else besides self later."

She shrugged, shaking her head. "A pen and a highlighter?" She suggested, though they had both of those things at the office. "Nothing really. Unless you plan on taking some home with you."

Chris smiled softly at her words and knew he could bring both of those along with some food for them. "Sure can do that and bringing some home will lessen your workload too."

"Maybe, but I don't want to get too used to doing work at home. They say if you do something somewhere long enough, that's what your mind will be trained to do. And I don't know about you, but I want to relax at home as much as possible." She smiled and squeezed his hand again.

Soon after, she finished her breakfast and kissed his cheek softly. "Thank you for the pancakes, Chris. They were wonderful." She hauled her dishes to the sink and washed the syrup out of them, rinsing the glass before she put them neatly into the dishwasher and came back to him. "I love you Chris. And I'll see you soon." She smiled and gave him a hug.

Chris smiled and returned the hug to her, his words spoken softly before watching her leave for work. "I love you too Claire and yes you will." Soon after he was seen working in the back yard planting a few more shrubs and playing ball with Rex. Taking a quick shower he changed into his office attire and took a slow morning walk to work.

Claire was already at the office, having sorted out the resumes yesterday. She was sifting through a pile of applicants for another departmental manager. already, she'd eliminated 7 of the 12 applicants. This was really something Chris should be looking at, but she'd narrowed it down to five, so he could choose whoever he liked.

Chris had been clear to her and the doctors on the main land that he would lessen his work load, in fact he had hardly touched anything to do with work. He was fearful of becoming like he used to, entering the building foyer with the spring in his step he smiled and greeted the receptionist warmly as she greeted him. Blue eyes quickly scanning various rooms finding her sitting down at the desk, with her back partly to him he entered and placed his large right strong hand over her eyes as his muscular left arm enveloped her waist. Breath hot on her neck as he spoke in a whispered tone. "Miss me."

She gasped as he covered her eyes and pulled her to him, but smiled as soon as she heard his voice. "Of course I did. Who wouldn't?" she whispered, shivering at his breath on her neck. The man could make an entrance, that was for sure.

Chris had hoped to make an entrance that she would remember, feeling her arms pulling him closer he laughed softly at her words and cheekily nipped at her ear before calmly sitting down near her. His blue eyes flashed towards for a mere second before picking up the third candidate's sheet and speaking. "This one first and foremost should be interviewed. Have a good feeling on them."

She smiled and nodded. "Tell you what, dear. You can make all the arrangements. I want you to interview them since they will be working under you. In fact two departments will be reporting to you. So you should look for another candidate in that stack for the other manager." She smiled and watched him, enjoying the way he was able to just switch into work mode and still keep it light.

Chris smiled softly, his right hand reaching out to gently squeeze hers before his blue eyes glanced over the remainder left out before being drawn towards the discarded pile. Nervously he flicked through them, three more possible candidates and with an interview to go that would sort the whole lot out. It would be his first time interviewing anyone but felt confident enough to do it. Furtively glancing towards her he spoke. "Sorry all of these seem okay for now, the interview is where we really sort them out."

She blinked and looked up at him. "Well, I suppose so, but the other five were more qualified based on experience. Still, they will be reporting to you, so if you'd like to choose them, I won't stop you." She smiled and then went back to her own pile of applicants for general staffing.

Chris noticed the blinking of her eyes, taking both piles he went through them again discarding two he had picked up and gently squeezed her shoulder as he stood up. His lips ever so softly brushing across the soft skin of her cheek before speaking. "Will just be down the hallway in that unused office to make these phone calls for interview times."

Chris noticed the shiver from her and heard the soft words escape her sultry lips before striding out of the room and down the hallway, sitting down behind the desk his blue eyes scanned each sheet of paper not once but twice picking out two he wanted to come in almost today but knew that would not be right. Calling each he set the appointments for early tomorrow morning, as the last phone call was placed he relaxed back in his chair with a big grin spread across his face.

When Claire had made it through her final packet of prospective employees she sighed and stood up, looking for her fiance. She wanted to see how he was doing. He must be glad to be back at work. At least a little.

Chris was indeed glad to be back at his work, the desk he was sitting at made to feel like his as he had set out a few things on it and with his back to the door had his feet propped up against the lower shelf of the bookcase. His blue eyes taking in the room knowing it might be a good time to look at putting some books in an office, hey it might help with the stresses he thought.

Claire found him in the office he'd chosen to work in today and smiled. It had a nice view of the ocean and the beach. "So, how are you liking it?" She asked, coming into the room.

Chris did not hear her footsteps only the soft seductive voice fill his ears as he snapped out of his reverie and turned his head towards. Dark blue eyes dazzling and sparkling as he moved his chair back a little and patted his lap. His words softly spoken. "Good but will be better with you on my lap."
