Office Romances don't work...do they? (Nightstalker x Candi)

The alarm clock woke them early that morning. Claire had the tickets for the plane already and they merely needed to show up to the airport with them and Rex, and they would be ready to go.

"Mmm, wake up, Chris. It's time to go to the Island, my love." She smiled softly as she shut off the alarm and then kissed his lips before sitting up and stretching.

Chris slept soundly until he felt the softest touch of her lips against his, eyes blinking a few times as he started to wake up. He was thankful everything had been packed already as his eyes met hers. "Good morning. Time for a shower then to get dressed."

She nodded. "I'm going to feed Rex. Why don't you hop in the shower first? He needs to be walked too. And then we can have breakfast."

Chris smiled at her words before sighing softly, his excitement slightly overshadowed by his almost completely forgetting about Rex. He was soon taking a quick shower before dressing in a pair of black trousers, white short sleeve along with shoes. Making sure his cell phone and wallet were packed into the small overnight bag he grabbed the leash and took Rex down to the small park. Watching him run around he began to think about their future, all of their futures as he was not sure what Rex would think of an island. Returning to the house he hummed as he entered the front door, his words called out softly. "Ready to go my love."

She'd managed to shower in the time it had taken him to walk Rex. She was dressed in a nice, white skirt and a deep blue shirt that made her eyes pop and her curves look fantastic. She wore strappy sandals and had a cup of coffee and a donut in her hand. "Just gotta eat breakfast. There's coffee and a donut for you at the table," she said with a smile. "Rex is coming too. I've arranged for kennel to take care of him while we're in the hotel looking for a more permanent place to stay. We can visit every day." She smiled and sipped her sweetened coffee before finishing off her donut.

Chris smiled and whistled softly at her appearance, walking across to the table and sitting down to eat his breakfast, Rex pawing lightly at his leg he shared the donut with him. As he finished his coffee he glanced around his house, home for so long and with a sigh he softly spoke. "Did not think they would take him on the Island, part of me is sad to go."

"People have pets on the island. Dogs are no exception," she said with a chuckle. "Besides, I'd be upset if we had to leave Rex behind. He and I are buddies now," she said, smiling at the friendly dog. She finished her coffee and rinsed the cup, leaving the rest of this place to her mother and father, knowing that the two of them could handle getting it packed. "Any time you're ready. We should get going soon," she said. "Everything's loaded, so all we have to do is leave. Take your time saying good bye though."

Chris listened intently to her words and rinsed up his own cup, softly kissing her cheek before giving the house one last look. Grabbing his overnight bag he smiled widely as Rex bounded towards the back of the car, opening the door and leaving him with his bag too he was soon in the passenger side all buckled up. "Ready to go now my wife to be."

Those last four words brought a brilliant smile to her face. With a smile, she got into the car and kissed him softly. And then they were off to the air port, and before they knew it, they were all on the plane.

Chris smiled as they breezed through all the security checks and were soon on the plane, settling into his seat he knew that Rex would need the attention once they got there. His first time flying and it would be slightly frightening or so he thought as he reached out and took her hand giving it a gentle squeeze before lifting it and kissing the back of it softly.

Claire smiled as he kissed her hand and leaned against him, closing her eyes and yawning softly. "Mmmm, Well, you're on the path to making things right again, my dear."

She smiled and continued to rest there, glad to be with him on this plane. Glad that this wasn't another dream. "I don't want you to go."

Chris smiled as she rested against him, happy to have his life back the way it should be until he heard those words. Concern washed over his face as he softly kissed across her forehead and gave her hand a gentle squeeze, his words whispered. "Not going anywhere my live, not without you."

Claire looked up at him and held his hand. "You'd better not. Because if you pull that disappearing act again, I don't know what I'll do."

Chris's eyes met hers as he listened to her words, shaking his head lightly he spoke softly. "Never will happen my wife to be. That is a promise from me to you."

A sense of relief washed over her and she sighed, happy to have it taken care of. "Good. Now let's rest a little while longer." She smiled softly and kissed his cheek again before snuggling back into his shoulder.

Chris studied her face and noticed the relief wash over it, smiling happily as she rested back against him. His head resting lightly back against the seat of the chair as he thought about the Island, especially their wedding day. It would be so perfect he mused to himself as he sensed the plane getting closer to the island.

In just a few hours time they were landing on that beautiful, sunny oasis of life. They were here to stay. Claire woke up just before the landing and smiled as she looked out the window to see their place glowing with life. "Mmm, and shortly, we'll be home free."

"Oh, he'll love it." She smiled and squeezed his hand as they came in for the landing. She just hoped the poor guy would be okay after his first flight. Sometimes travel could be hard on animals.

Chris knew he wanted to check on Rex as soon as he could but knowing their processes as soon as the plane landed and they disembarked he took her hand and softly kissed each cheek. "Guess its the hotel for us, they will ultimately call and let us know when we can see Rex."

Claire nodded and smiled. She walked into the airport with him and got their luggage before walking with him to get a cab to their hotel.

Chris smiled as they hailed the taxi, almost getting the same driver as their last visit. His eyes took in the scenery again as he lightly squeezed her hand and spoke softly. "It is great to be back here."

"It is," she said with a little smile. Already, she could tell that they were both more relaxed than they had been in quite some time. "So, we'll get checked in and freshen up a bit, and then what would you like to do? Wait to hear about Rex?"
