Ancient Ways

She felt his mind flutter and try to move past what was making him motionless, but it was having issues... She slid her fingers gently up to his face and cupped his cheek "Shhh Aten... dont move... you tore a lot of muscles, you need to rest... Ill try to figure out a way to contact the village... please be ok...." she wiped at her tears, and closed her useless eyes, trying to use her little reserves of energy to scan the area for anyone... anything... She felt very faint flickers, but they were still far off, coming swiftly. "..Some things are on the way, i dont know if theyre good or bad or what... im too weak to delve deeper to figure it out... " She shifted so she was sitting up a bit more, keeping a hand on his cheek, trying to listen to his mind, to see how he was doing... She didnt have alot of energy left, but shed make sure he was ok before she settled herself...

Aten heard her words and knew that everything should be fine for the moment but he had no idea how he was going to fix his muscles how was he ever going to walk again? He ended up not thinking about it and let his mind wander off into a deep sleep. His mind stayed blank for the rest of the time he was there trying to get his energy back

She calmed down, listening to the blank of his mind, incase anything happened as she slowly dozed off, leaning over him gently as she slept sitting up.

************************

Bura caught the scent strong, following it to the oasis. The group of demons looked around, not believing their eyes of this amazing place, one of them finding them two. Bura came over and gently knelt next to Aten, across from Azura, and touched him on the arm gently.

Aten had felt nothing when Bura touched him, his mind stayed blank dreaming of nothing unsure of what to do since he could not move at all. As he laid there his nerves slowly began to shut off from the lack of use his body was shutting down and his heart was slowing. The stress he had put on his body had been to much and it still hadn't finished putting on more for he had used his powers that much to their full extent and this was his consequence. Aten didn't know it but there were tears falling down his eyes as he knew what was happening to him as he had been warned once before that this would happen. As far as Aten knew there was nothing anymore that would be able to save him.

Bura saw the signs in his checking, and closed his eyes. He went over to Azura, waking her gently, and giving her a sombre look. "Dear... your going to come with us to live for now, alright? Dont worry, well take good care of you..." He tried to get her to stand up, but all she did was stare at him with her blank eyes.

"..Come with you?" She touched Atens arm, "Come on love, were going home..." she said with a cautious voice. Bura shook his head.

"No... Azura, Aten... wont make it home. He sacrificed himself to save you."

Silence. Azura stared ahead of her not seeing anything, scanning Aten with her weak touch, shaking. "No...no... no, hes still alive, we can help him, he'll heal, right? Aten, please dont leave me, please.... Im not going anywhere... There has to be a way to help..." her voice was panicked, tears falling fast. Bura tried to pick her up, but she knocked them back with a force of power. "No! Im not leaving... There has to be a way...." she felt drained herself, she knew she herself wouldnt be able to do a whole lot... but maybe another daemon could. She gathered the rest of her strength and put it to a signal, a wave the a daemon could pick up easily farther away, and let her signal go, hoping someone would come quickly as she lay down next to Aten, putting her hand lightly over his heart, tears still falling.

"I did all i could love... Im sorry... I love you.." her words trailed off as her body went limp, passing out from her own overexertion.

Bura and the other demons waited a second or so to make sure she was out before trying to pick her up and take her home...

Aten felt as Azura had used up all her powers and Bura had taken her away. Soon after they were gone someone else had shown up however he didn't have a body and he appeared in his mind. Aten looked at him quizzically, He was a tall man bright red hair that was as bright as the sun, he was dressed all in white with pure gold trinkets and gold dangling earrings. Aten looked the man up and down before speaking. "Who are you, and just what is it your doing inside of my mind."
The man looked at him, he was the right person he had been looking for the one who had many challenges to over come but he was still not strong enough. "I am going to be your savior as for my name I do not have one. You are destined for great things with Azura and this was a test you had to overcome before you were ready so now we know where your at and must train you harder than before, otherwise the balance of life will be thrown out of balance. Anyways I will see you soon but for now you must wake up." The man walked up to Aten and placed his hand on his head.

Aten flinched as the hand was placed on his hand. He began to feel tired and didn't understand what was going on right now so everything was very confusing for him but either way the long the mans hand laid on his head the sleepier he felt. Eventually he feel asleep in his own mind which lead to him quickly opening his eyes a scream escaping from his mouth as he shot up from his bed. Aten was cover in sweat and he had felt as if he had been asleep for ages. What he was really confused about is that he remembered everything clearly that had happened in the dream, all the fun, the happiness and the sadness the most. He felt as if something was missing from his life, the only thing that was on his mind right now was the man that had showed up in his mind, who was he and just what was it that he meant?

Aten slowly got out of bed his body still shaking and went over to the stream in his little desert house. He splashed his face just to make sure that everything was real. He was confused and had no idea just what was going on. He stood up slowly leveling himself out so that his body would calm down as he dried his face with the towel that was on the table. He headed outside knowing that he was going to need some air. As he stepped outside the door he covered his eyes from the sunlight he had to let it adjust so the bright desert sun didn't make him blind. He stood outside in his shorts his tanned skin looking dark against the sandy floor. He sat against his house just staring out off into the distance hoping that the man he saw would show up, after all he said that he would see him soon but he never said when.

Azura had just managed to get away from the men, running into the desert as fast as she could... After a while she couldnt go any longer, her mouth parched and her body feeling heavy, she fell, looking for some shade, anything to cool herself... No wonder the men didnt chase her this far into the desert; it was suicide if you didnt know what you were doing. She crawled a little further, towards a dune that looked as if it may hold some refuge, but her vision became foggy as the sun beat down on her. She collapsed within sight of the dune, not sure what to do anymore...

As Aten sat against his house he thought about everything that had happened maybe it would be better if they hadn't met? Maybe she was supposed to be with someone else that way she doesn't go blind and could live a somewhat normal and decent life unlike what he had going on himself. If anything right now she should be in the desert running away from the people who were after her. Aten went inside knowing that he shouldn't stay out to long without water. He decided he would save Azura by not meeting her, if she didn't meet him then everything would be fine. He got a drink of water and went back to bed, He was going to sleep through today so that he wouldn't screw everything up.

She felt rough hands grab her, hauling her up, but she was too dizzy, too hot to care who it was. It wasnt until she was loaded into a wagon that she became frightened... The mens 'voices' werent nice at all, but no one in the village had nice voices towards her... She leaned against the side of the wagon, letting the man tie her hands, not that that would do anything if she wanted to fight back, but he didnt realy know that.

They wheeled her back to the village, where they brought her to the Temple, a tall man with No Voice was standing... She stumbled on jelly legs as they hauled her out of the wagon and up the stairs towards the man. He wore robes that looked like some kind of preist, and he smiled welcoming the men into the temple, "Thank you ever so much for fnding the child... we need to make sure she stays here with us, she could be of value to our Gods in the future..." he said as they brought her in and down another flight of stairs to an underground part of the temple, tossing her uncerimoniously into a cell, closing the door with a clank. She shuffled to the corner, still dizzy and weak from the desert sun, but welcoming the cool of the stone floors and walls.

The man in the robes sneered, his mind still unreadable to her, even though she could read the other mens minds... and nothing they thought was helping her in any way except making her more frightened. "Thank you, you may go now" the robed man said, smiling to the men, them taking their pardon and the satchel of gold from the man with wide grins. They left the dungeon with a slam of the stone doors. The man turned to her. "Now now dear you mustnt run from us. We need you to commune with our Gods, and become one yourself, so we may all be redeemed... But first, you must be very thirsty... Tell me one thing i am thinking, and i will give you a drink of nice cool water..." he crooned, sneering at her. He knew she couldnt read his mind, thats why he was doing this... He wanted to know how to do it himself, so he could manipulate the others moreso than he already was... She Knew this by his actions and his words, contradicting stories from people and what they thought of as well... but she didnt know what he was truely up to... She shook her head.

"I cant... and you cant do it either" was all she said, and closed her eyes, the dizziness making it hard to concentrate... She lost his next words in the chaos, barely feeling the water splash on her face as she passed out again.... She knew for sure this was not going to be fun... and somehow this should have never happened....

*************************************************

The next day, she supposed since there were no ways to tel the time, the man came down in new robes, smiling grandly. She was shaking from the cold now, and her hunger and thirst were worse then ever... she had tried to open the door, but couldnt, she wasnt strong enough to do so, with or without her mind... "You are to make an appearance to the gathering, so that we may decide your true fate. If the gathering condemns you, then you are to be placed in the centre of town until you die; if the gathering aknowledges you, then you will train under me as a preistess, and run the temple in my stead, since Daemons and Demons seem to have longer lives then us humans..." he said with a sarcastic tone, knowing very well that Daemons rarely lived past puberty because of their unique conditions... She just blinked, too tired to try anything. Two men came in and grabbed her, hoisting her up, dragging her up the stairs. As soon as they got to the stone doors at the top and they opened, the flood of Voices she heard made her cry out, scrunching her eyes shut as her head pounded with the many loud Voices... The man just chuckled. "By the looks of things, you wont be long if we leave you in the middle of town..."

The gathering all quieted as she cried out, turnig to look at her. She wore her ragged robes, temple dress from the last time they caught her, and she looked disorientated and confused, besides the obvious pain she was in. The men held her in the spot as she tried to curl into a ball, trying to block out the voices... her nose started to bleed, making one of the men exclaim, the other letting go of her, afraid she was gathering strength to blow them all up.... the gathering talked quickly, and by the looks of things, and the voices in her head, it wasnt going to go well for her.... They all stopped whispering and one raised up. "She is of no use to us if she cant even stand us few. To town with her."

The men dragged her out, into the streets, the voices overwhelming her quickly as people stopped to stare as they dragged her to the centre of town, where the gallows were, and threw her into the small metal cell next to the gallows. Everyone stopped what they were doing and went around the podium as she cried out and screamed, her hands clutched over her ears as she tried to block the voices out....

************************************

After a few days, she lay in the bottom of the cell, not moving, though she was still alive. The people had continued on with their dailiy lives, though she couldnt see anything anymore, she could block the people out completely... Sometimes people of the village came by with food and threw it in the cell, but after she stopped screaming and crying her bloodied tears, they stopped payin attention to her, as if they thought she was already dead, though they all knew she wasnt. She didnt have the strength to try to open the cell again, though when she got fed, she tried... one time she almost managed it... but that had been it.

Aten had awoken the next day, he had forgotten almost everything now except for that man. It would be better when he had forgotten everything though. He never let it get to him though, he continued on with his daily life, he went out to hunt food and went to the forest to gather up materials. However there was one thing he had seen in the forest that had brought up one of the memories from the "Dream" It was a black panther that had tried to kill him on the first day he went into the forest. There was one thing he knew now though, if there was one here then there were others close by. He made his way safely out of the forest not wanting to have to deal with them again thinking that it could lead back to Azura. He ran back home quickly and made himself some food. He was a little tired when he reached the house but for some reason it felt as if he had endured much more before so it really didn't feel as if he had really worked himself up at all. He sat at the kitchen table thinking, trying to figure out what he should do and just why hadn't he met that strange man again?

Azura waited patiently, for what she didnt know... Screams came up from the forest as men and women fled the forest, large panthers attacking people they came near, until one came to her and sat infront of the cell. ~We have come for you child. Let yourself out and lets go. We have little time~ the panther spoke to her in the mind speak, and she gave a small nod and tried for the lock again, not able to open it... she told the great shadow cat and she snarled slightly. Loud scratching and grinding noises she heard before a wet nose and a paw settled on her hand, she got up and got on the great cat, not much anymore to carry, and the group of cats all fled into the forest with their child. The men of the village chased the cats, but were lost in the forest after a few minutes, having chased them in deep.

She lay in her cave, moving as much as she was able, which wasnt much more then she could in the cell... The cats brought her food and led her to the stream for water... after a few days her strength was back enough that she started to use the panthers for her vision, trying to retrain herself to be stronger... She started venturing out to the desert more and more, looking for a new place to den, since the humans were invading the forest more and more, having brought new weapons and reinforcements against her cats...

one day she had ventured out far enough into the desert that she saw dunes and such, as far as she had fled before hand, yet collapsed... after training herself to the point of exhaustion, she could now rely on herself for her vision, if seeing through a veil of echo-telekinesis was considered seeing, since she refused to let her cats follow her until she had found suitable refuge for them... She found a large dune that appeared to have some sort of hole to it, blocked to make it seem to outside people that there was no entrance... she could hear a stream inside. She gave a shake of her gourd that she had stolen from the village, and the little water left in it sloshed... She would need to refill soon if she was to make it back to her cats... She opened the door, silently, and went into the den, closing the door silently behind her, her soft feet padding silently along the stone sand floors, heading straight for the stream, bending to fill her water gourd.

((Aten isnt home, at least not right this second, wink wink nudge nudge:p))

Aten had gone out for a walk when Azura had been into his house but as soon as he was back he knew something was up. He looked at the door and saw it wasn't quite where he had left it, he had no idea who was in the house but he wasn't going to find out because for all he knew it could have been someone from his past and he only had one good person from there. Aten headed off into the desert with his water pouch still full and a bag of food that he had killed when he went out. He didn't know as to which direction he was going to go but he was sure not going to be going back there.

She felt a precense at the door, stop and then flee.... she gathered her now full water canteen, and wiped the back of her hand across her mouth, following it... It had felt familiar, friendly, yet... scared? Wary? She didnt know, but she intended to find out. She put her hood back up over her head, holding her cloak over her as she went back out and started to follow the mind inwhich she seemed instantly intuned with... it was odd... She couldnt read him from this distance, but it was as if she tracked his scent, but rather his thought trail... She followed, reserving her water for emergencies, and nibbling on dried out meats she had strung on her belt...

Aten had been walking for awhile now but he never felt any safer. He felt as if he was being followed. He stopped for a minute and looked around, seeing nothing but sand dunes he continued to move on. He walked a little farther until he felt really bad and started running forward as fast as he could. He ran for what felt like forever, putting the distance between himself and Azura at about 4 days travel by normal walking. No normal person would be able to survive the trip which made Aten feel a little at ease but he kept walking until he reached a new forest. The trees for some reason were purple. Aten looked around from just outside the forest trying to sense danger, he felt some strange things in there but nothing he wouldn't be able to handle if it came right down to it. Aten ended up coming to a little clearing with a very large tree and a waterfall behind it, this he decided would be his temporary home. Aten got hard to work, he moved the trees root to become a door and dug a large hole under it and continued from there to make other rooms. When he was done this he started tearing down trees making some flat and keeping some as poles. He put the flat ones up to the roof and used the poles to keep them up there there, this way he wouldn't have to worry about the place falling down on him. all of this had only taken him around thirty minutes. Aten went down into his home and pull the roots over the hole and went and slept on the floor for awhile to recover all the strength he had used.

She followed until she had lost the scent and trace completely, it seeming to dash away quickly. She sighed and turned back, calling to the cats that she found a temporary home for them at the moment, and got back to the dune home... She and the few cats left all settled in, finding places to crash, she being led to the bed, where she settled in, not afraid of the owners coming home anytime soon, considering she had 5 shadow cats that werent too pleased about being run out of their forest... One cat kept a look out while the rest ate and drank and rested from their trek through the desert. She stayed up for a bit, watching the area, but after not sensing anything, she soon nodded off, wondering why she even chased after that eluding mind anyways... Something drew her to him, and shed be hell bent to find out why.

That night she dreamt of a forest with purple trees and a tree home with a handsome man living there, with an eluding mind.... She woke up with a start, wanting to find him, even though in her dream he seemed hazy, but she had felt... like she knew him. It had been the most serious case of deja vu yet, and that was something to make her even more determined to find him.

When Aten had woke it had been a good 16 hours. The only thing he heard when he awoke was his stomach yelling at him as if he hadnt eaten in 5 days, and he had somewhat looked it too. He looked down to himself and noticed that he seemed a little slimmer than before but also he as if muscle had built as well. he thought about it for awhile but ended up not caring in the end and went in search of food. Before his trek he stocked up on water just in case and headed out at first he wandered around for about an hour not finding anything but he eventually came to a bush with pink berry like fruit on it. He ended up plucking one and squeezed it towards the ground. As soon as the juices hit the ground it began to bubble and made a small hole where it had hit. He looked at it strangely for a second and put a bit of the juice on his tongue, nothing, so it was meant to be eaten and it tasted incredibly sweet. Aten plucked another one and some of the juice spilled on his hand it began to bubble and burn, he stuck his finger in his mouth quickly. The bush was evil it wanted to protect itself but would award ones who were careful. Aten gathered as many as he could using his shirt off his back and ran quickly back to his home.

After a day or so, she decided enough was enough. The cats had done nothing but pace and squawk at each other, being so closely confined, and she was about to murder them all just for some piece and quiet. She gathered some sheets she found and found a few sticks and made a small shelter of sorts, a lean to if anything, and hitched the cats to them, making them drag it while it gave them shade from the sun. She set out, not knowing exactly where she was going, but followed the trail she had made the day before, not by sight but by feel, and started their trek, stopping often for water for the cats and food when they needed it. After the days trek, they set up camp in the middle of the desert, stocked up on water and food from the house they had invaded, and set the makeshift lean-to of sheets and sticks up, against the wind, and all curled up to sleep, the cats taking shifts keeping a look out.

After two days, they woke up with one less Cat. She mourned the loss of her friend, and pushed the rest harder to get to the forest she felt was close... but it never seemed to be close enough. It wasnt until one other Cat left them that they found it in the distance, another days walk from their position. They didnt stop for the night, but trekked on, getting in the forest and setting up camp near the edge. Out of the 5 cats that had been left from the forest raids, only 3 were left...

Aten decided it would be time to set traps to protect his home knowing that people were becoming smarter or something and seeking out new places. He dug some quick holes and placed some of the berry bushes he found around the forest at the bottom of them and covered it well so the ground looked so normal that not even he would be able to tell there was a trap there. He did this all around in random spots. He started decorating his home as well making sure that everything was to his liking, but the most important thing he worked on was the bath. He had to make sure that it was perfect so he didn't get and splinters.

The forest didnt seem friendly. In their adventures exploring new places to find a home, one cat had fallen into a hole that seemed filled with bushes of berries, but by the time that they knew anybetter, the cats screams had slowed.... It looked as if the bush had eaten through the cat. She tried to get the cat out of there, but the Leader held ehr back, not wanting her to get eaten by it either. She knew from then that there were traps set around this area, so she took the cats away from there, and sought shelter elsewhere, yet not finding much. They had tried to sleep in the trees, but creatures woke up at night and attacked them, making them run for the edges again. She was about to start hunting for these creatures when she noticed something. A slight scent that was familiar. She had the instinctive feeling that those traps were set by this scent, or rather the creature that held this scent. And that made it a formidable foe.

After another day or so, one of the other cats had gone missing while on a scouting mission. She scoured the links to find him, but couldnt. She turned to the Leader, Shaya, and shook her head. They spent the night mourning their losses as the full moon hung high in the treetops. By the next morning, she was up and hunting. She followed scent after scent and came across a boar, which she felled with a thought, thanking it for the meals it would provide to them. She dragged it back to Shaya, so that they could carve and prepare it some, using her physical strength as well as giving it pulls from her powers as well. She had started to use them more outwardly now, since barriers were now the only was Shaya and her could sleep since they had yet to find a suitable den...

After preparing and feasting on the boar, they decided to hunt for the trap maker, so that they could ease their freinds soul, as it was taken without cause. She hunted for the scent, Shaya hunting as well, and soon they found a trail of sorts, yet it was scattered... She followed it, coming to an old tree, Shaya having followed the other way towards the river. As she was about to get near the tree, only 10 feet or so away, she felt the ground shift under her, giving way to another trap. She clung to the side of the earth as the dirt and rocks fell squishing the berries into a hissing of acid... She scrabled for handholds as she felt herself slip. She sent out a panicked mental yell, not wanting to alert anything that would think her an easy meal, but she needed help sooner better then later, ~Shaya! Help, ive fallen into a trap, yet have yet to fall completely! Come grab ahold of me so i dont burn!~ she sent to Shaya in the general direction she last knew of her, yet it could be heard if one was sensitive to such noises.

Aten had been hearing his traps going off during the whole time but he stayed in his little house preparing his last line of defense. Aten rigged the door so that if opened the berries would go after whoever was outside searching for him. After he had finished that he moved to the bathroom and dug a hole headed out in a random direction and kept digging straight for as long as he could until he hit a giant boulder. At this point he decided it was a good a time as any to start and dig for the surface, where he ended up was somewhere he had never thought. The farther up he dug the moister the ground had become and soon the water had poured down on him. as soon as it had started to come down he stuck his hands as far as they would go into the wall until the water had stopped rushing in. He swam through and came up behind the waterfall. There was a slight glow from the walls so he could see quiet fine but the only way to get in here now would be through that hole and no one not even himself could make that trip. He sat on the stone floor just wishing to live his life in peace hoping that he would never have to meet another person ever again.

She managed to stay on the edge until the cat came and rescued her... she decided after that that it wouldnt be very good to further pursue this thing that was wiley then ever... She backed off and went back to the edge of the forest... Her and the cat Shaya leaned against eachother exhausted. By this rate they werent going to last too much longer in this forest... or any other one. The humans were pushing everything out of the forests, and the fact that demons and daemons were a dying breed overall, since the massacre of the villages of the demons, everything was going to hell for them. They kept an alert eye out for anything that could get them, and soon they had come to a decision, that they would have to find a place to den this night, or they were done. They got up and started to scour everywhere for a den, up and down, water or tree, didnt matter, anywhere. She followed an invisible trail, hoping that it would lead to a nice den, and found a small cave, a small stream trikling from it. She smiled a little and bunkled down to fight anything that was in the cave, so that they could have it.

After a decent battle, she and Shaya had their den now, not overly roomy, or comfortable, wet and miserable, but it was at least something. She moved a boulder that was inside it with her power and Shayas help, that it blocked the entrance so that they could sleep. The cave was small, no back at all, just a small bubble in the rocks. Shaya stayed up to watch for the nighth as Azura passed out.

The next morning, Azura moved the boulder with a lot of struggle, and got up slowly... Something was off. She felt terrible, tired, miserable.... She was wet from the stream that flooded in the night because of the boulder and she was cold from sleeping on wet rock. She was shaking a lot, and felt tired to the bone. Coughing up a lung, she leaned against the wall of the cave, sinking to the floor as the built up water seeped out. "Go Shaya, get food. I cant..." she said, closing her eyes against the wall.... Shaya moved the girl back to the back of the cave and gave a worried glance before running off, moving a smaller boulder in the doorway, so then creatures couldnt come in and get her, however the water began to build up again... She fell asleep against the back wall of the cave, shaking as the water pooled around her, soaking her more in the damp cold. She coughed periodically between breaths...

Aten had stayed in his little cave like room it was cosy and safe for now and he didn't have to worry about the outside. He began to explore a little wondering if he could make this his new home. Now that he was looking around a little he could see that there were a few openings on where he thought water had pushed through the rock to make little caverns like ants do. He walked around them giving each one a sniff trying to smell if anything was down them just incase he was invading someones home, he didn't smell anything so he placed a marker at the one he went though and began to explore farther after awhile he noticed something strange. From where he went there were rings of caves around the middle he had come from and the kept going leading to a single crawl hole that he could barely make it out of, this wasnt something that water could have created. He went back to the middle and just sat around taking a drink of water tasting some of the berries that had been in his house. The thing that surprised him that it didn't burn his hand at all, maybe if he washed the berries they were defenceless? He would have to test out his idea later for now he sat around wondering how he should decorate the place.

She wasnt feeling good at all... between fevers and chills, and the constant wet home... Shaya tried to drag her out once to get some sun and warmth, but creatures attacked them, pushing them back inside... Now they paced the outside, waiting for an entrance to their free meal. She was coughing so bad now that it sounded terrible, and it shook her to the core... Shaya tried to feed her whatever they had, but still she couldnt stomach anything now... The mould in the cave kept it cold, as well as the constant flooding of the small stream... She lay against Shaya coughing and shaking as the poor shadow cat tried to comfort her with soothing thoughts and licks to her face... It got to the point within the week that Shaya couldnt leave the cave for the creatures tried to grab her and take her away, one almost managing the act, before Shaya got him good. The others backed off while she was there, but while she went out to hunt, Azura was left to her own defences, which were next to nothing now, with how weak she had become.

Aten continued his search around this little cave of catacombs for if there was air in here there had to be a hole for it to escape into and if he was lucky it wouldn't be to big and no one would be able to invade. He left markings in the rocks as he went on just so he would know his way back. On his travels he found a bed of moss and a tree that had been growing from it even through the stone, he had no idea what kind of tree it could be but it must be strong to adapt to a place like this and if it were to bear fruit he would have to make sure to plant it in another area for it to grow as well. He decided to make this place a bedroom seeing as it had the most moss of what he had seen some even coming half way up his legs. However this reminded him that he was hungry, the berry water could only help him for so long. At the end of his search he finally found a small opening where air got in, it was big enough for him to get through without much trouble but anything much bigger wouldnt be able to.

Aten sneaked his way slowly outside checking around to make sure nothing was near him, the coast looked clear and he could smell nothing on the wind that was blowing behind him. He wandered about the forest making sure not to stray to far from the home gathering small animals. It was no task for Aten to catch them for they couldn't match his speed much less he was light on his feet that they nor even himself could hear him walking. As soon as he had a decent amount of food he headed back towards the small cave opening thinking to himself about how to have a fire without smoking him out.

Sighing a bit, she tried to keep from coughing as the shadow cat out front tried to fight her way back to her... This wasn't going to end well if she didn't get out of here and find somewhere else to live, and she tried to relay that to the cat through her weakness, trying to get up as more coughing wracked her tired form. She waited for the shadow cat to move the boulder and slipped out into the fresh air, surrounded by creatures of all shapes and sizes, that knew she was sick and were after her. She fended them off, using her reserved energies to try to get out of there, backing up towards a cliff face. She kept up as best she could until stumbling on what she didn't know, she fell backwards into a thin hole in the cliff, falling back a bit into what looked to be a cavern.... she started to cough again, until it seemed she couldn't catch her breath at all and seeing the top of the cavern was the last she saw as her mind shut down from pure exhaustion.
