You are my angel (Candira and Kade)

He laughed, "See she's amazing. Helena is a writer. She helps me find work here and there, she's my angel." He said smiling as he decided not to lie anymore. "She's always looking out for your dearest child." He said almost laughing as he could get away with saying the things and his mom not realizing how truthful they were. He figured she'd just take them as figures of speech, "I don't think I'd be such a great person without her." He said as he kissed her cheek.

Helena blushed again as he kissed and introduced her, talking her up in half-truths. "I think he might be exaggerating just a little. You've raised a wonderful boy, ma'am," she said with a small smile. The angel held his hand and kissed his cheek in response. "It's nice to finally meet the woman responsible for it."

He nodded, "Yeah, my mom has done a lot for me since birth, and I thank you so much for all of it mom." he said as he looked at her and then went back to lying down watching Helena. He was still tired, but he wouldn't go back to sleep when he knew his mom would be right there. He wanted to make sure she knew he was okay.

Helena smiled at Devlin and said, "Hey, why don't you start in on the stuff your mom brought you?" she asked. "I want a little talk with her," she said, leading the older woman out into the hall. After a few moments, she returned with a reassured mother. Devlin's mom kissed his cheek and told him to get better, staying to talk for just a little while longer before leaving.

"You can go ahead and sleep again," Helena said with a little smile. Why don't you try?"

He nodded and ate the food wondering what she had to tell his mother, but he didn't mind as she was great, and he knew his mom would love her. When they came back he was still eating, and by the time he finished his mom had left. He looked up at her, "Only if you come and lay with me. I can try all I want, but I'd prefer you to be in my bed." He said smiling as he looked at her.

"Sorry about the kisses, I mean I'm sure you probably didn't want that, so I apologize."

"It's not that I....Well, I didn't mind it. Besides, I know your mom well enough to know she would be expecting you to do that. I haven't gotten into trouble for it...so I think it's okay." She sincerely hoped that he would need to continue to keep up his cover like this for awhile. She loved kissing him, and she hoped that she wouldn't get into trouble for it. He'd told her that he couldn't rest unless she was with him, so she couldn't ignore that. Helena climbed into his hospital bed with him and snuggled into his side, careful to not disturb his broken leg. "Is this alright?" she asked.

He nodded softly as he kissed her neck gently out of habit, and he looked at her, "Oh my bad. Sorry it's a bad habit. I usually kiss girls on the neck a lot when they're so close." He said as his arm was around her.

(Skip to the day he's getting out.)

He slowly walked out of the hospital, and he looked at her with a smile, "So, what should we do today?" He asked as he walked with her towards his car. "First things first, we should get some fucking food." he said laughing.

She laughed, holding his hand as she walked to the car with him. "Sure, let's get you some food," she said, letting go so he could drive. "I'm glad you're out again. How about we take a walk after you get your food?" she asked. "It might be nice to get some fresh air."

He looked at her, "Well aren't you going to eat too? Or do angels not eat human food? I still don't really understand all of this stuff, but I guess you can tell me all about that at lunch." He said softly as he drove them up the street to a nice place, "I'd love to take a walk."

She smiled and followed him. "I can eat, but I don't need to unless I'm in human form in a long time. It wouldn't hurt to eat something to keep up appearances though," she said. Helena squeezed his hand as he drove and smiled at him.

He felt her squeezing his hand and he just wondered what she was thinking, "I gotta ask you something. I need an honest answer, and that shouldn't be too hard as you're an angel. Do you have some sort of feelings for me? I mean more than an person and his guardian. I mean like romantic feelings?"

She blinked, wondering how he'd guessed it. "I....it doesn't matter. I can't act on them even if I tell you. I do have feelings for you, but I'm not allowed to act anything more than friendly to you," she said, frowning. If I do, I'll become a fallen, and I won't be your angel anymore."

He looked at her and nodded, "I kind of got the feeling that you did, but I mean it's okay, I kind of like you too. And so what if you fall? Instead of my angel you'd be my girlfriend.' He said softly as he looked at her with a smile, "Would that be so terrible?" He asked as he sat there.

"You don't understand," she said with a little frown. "If I fall, you won't be able to touch me. I'll probably never see you again--I won't be able to find you, no matter where I go. Someone else will protect you, and they'll keep you far away from me. My existence will be meaningless," she said with a frown. "I sincerely doubt that either one of us would want that," she said with a little smile. "So we'll stay as we are, yes?"

He looked at her, "Well I'm sure I could find you. Just look for a gorgeous blond named Helena right around here." He said laughing as he looked sad. He was only laughing to keep from being more upset. "Your existence wouldn't be meaningless, I would find you somehow.." He said as he ordered something to eat. "I don't want that, but I don't want this. I can't even touch you." He said sighing lightly, "Not the way I might want."

She smiled and shook her head. "I know it's hard to imagine it, but your angel would keep you away from me, even if you looked. I wouldn't be around here anymore anyway. They'd move me away from you." She frowned. "I don't know if I could deal with never being able to see you again," she said, squeezing his hand. "It's better to have something than to have nothing."

He sighed, "Why would they do that? I mean it's my life isn't it? I have the choice to be around someone if I want to, why shouldn't I be allowed to be around you if you were to fall?" He asked as he sat there and looked at her not liking the idea of never seeing her again. "I know, I don't like that either, and I guess it is better to have something fake than have nothing at all. But, we can't even kiss, or well make love or anything like that. Ever. Doesn't that bother you?"

She looked at him as though he'd physically struck her. Of course it bothered her, but she wasn't allowed that. "It's a punishment," she said. "It's not supposed to make sense, it's supposed to hurt. And trust me, it will."
