After a few minutes at the nearest console, Gekki was able to tell the captain just how far they'd been flung into uncharted territory, as well as in what direction. There was a brief pause before she read out he actual number in a loud, grating whine. "Approximate distance, twen... TWENTY-ONE THOUSAND LIGHTYEEEEEEARS!?" Slowly, the Arkanian officer sunk to her knees at the panel, pondering just how long it would take them to get back on course.

The Zeltron girl's body was allready covering in painful blistres and worse as the plasma fire began to dwindle, then vanish. "Plasma flow cut, Dani," a voice replied over the com. "We were allready on it. Fire control team isn't far."

Krysta whimpered and sagged in the two girl's arms but nodded weakly. "I think I can walk. please, help me to the doctor..."

The pilot managed to stay more or less on her feet the whole way.

Captain Akar Kessel

Five hours later, all stations had reported in and confirmed that the damage—while extensive—was not critical. They were looking at about two weeks of largely routine repairs. Dr. Fandomir and his assistants had taken care of the worst of the injuries. There were no fatalities. Krysta and three others had some time in the bacta tanks to look forewords too. A good third of the crew was ordered to bed, and then relegated to light duty for as much as a week.

Danni, Gekki, Kaylee, Keiko, Mia, Nyxia, Sha Lyn, and Yai were summoned to a briefing. Akar stood at relaxed attention as they entered. “Thank you all for coming. If you have a computer, load the information from this chip, courtesy of Gekki. If you don't there's basic datapads in that drawer.”

“We've discovered an uncharted world. There's one very large continent taking up most of the eastern hemisphere, with a few noteworthy land masses on the far side. Acording to Gekki, the planet seems to have three major cities on different points of the empire. These cities show impressive stone architecture including a massive stepped pyramid at the center of each. Coblestone roads spread out from each of them, showing areas cleared for agrarian land and smaller settlements. The roads continue to radiate outwards before tapering off in the wilderness.

“I believe we may have an opportunity to witness the culture class of a world advancing from hunter gatherer societies to agrarian.

“I'd like you all to take a shuttle with an escort fighter or two down to this world. Try and make peaceful contact with the locals. Even among tribal people there are often opportunists for peaceful trade.”

Sha Lyn had a hectic five hours with her team, making sure the ship didn't fall apart. Between the fires, the deck damage and inspecting every inch of the superstructer for failure, her and her team were swept off their feet. So between checking more critical areas, Sha Lyn was surprised at being called into a briefing, one that wasn't focused on the ship damage anyway.

Opening her pad up and checking the information, the engineer inspected the photo's. While not her area of expertise, she could appreciate the advanced architecture for such a primitive society. In fact she had question a hunter gatherer society having such a network of roads already, but history, especially ancient history was never her strong suit.

"Do we have an idea on what the locals look like, or if there are more than one sentient race about? They might have a more... hostile reaction to seeing some of us if we are wildly different from them?" The Twi'lek woman didn't fancy an angry mob of barbarians trying to kill them for being demon's after all.

She also knew her help would be limited outside of making sure nothing broke, helping pilot the shuttle and being a pretty face. She doubted her vast experience in Starship Engineering would come into play.

Dani

After getting Krysta to a doctor and being sure she was safe Dani slipped away quitely.

Her back was nagging her and so she quickly took a luke warm shower gently testing her back for deeper damage, but the armour had done its job well - her next job was to detail the armour to remove the stain mark before anyone noticed.

She chuckled to herself - it was childish to avoid getting medical treatment, and yes they were busy and she would be fine and all those other reasons, but the primary was that she just didn't want to deal with them berating her.

Job done she resumed her patrol - with luck neither Krysta nor Kaylee would mention it or remember, both likely caught up in the situation they might not have noticed that she had burned.

Hours later she reported to the bridge as instructed the pain was dulled now which she could ignore. Grabbing a datapad she took down the information as needed.

"Sir, trade for what?" she asked "ore, tools, food?" noting the chief engineer "I mean with only three major cities we could likely just take just about anything we need for repairs from the other side of the planet without ever dealing with them or letting them know we are here - not sure what they could offer us?", perhaps if she was in a better mood she might be more inclinded to meet new people but as it was she just wanted the ship repaired and to rest for a few days.

She didn't know much about spaceship maintance but a military ship like this would certainly have the capacity to harvest resources from a planet better than the locals would be able to provide - couple of pinpoint shots and a tractor beam and they could have a mountain of ore for use in repairing.

Though she didn't know it at the time, Gekki's thoughts followed the same train as Sha Lyn. While the young woman didn't say anything about it at just then, she didn't see her expertise in computing or technology doing much good on a diplomatic mission where the most advanced thing within a hundred kilometers might be a printing press. As it stood, orders were orders. If she had nothing to do but take recordings and stand around until something broke, then so be it.

Tagged/Mentioned: Captain, Yai, everyone at the meeting.

Mia had been having a good night until the accident. She had been lying on her side, in her captain's bed, sleeping softly and deeply. She had no thoughts on her mind, no stress, and was indeed planning to sleep in. As a Jedi representative with no real skills besides piloting, she was very rarely needed on the ship, and thus had a lot of time off. Right now she was dreaming about soft things, hugging, cuddling, and perhaps a bit naughtier too, but that was broken quickly and violently when the ship suddenly jerked. The moment she felt her body move, Mia was awake, her leg catching itself on the floor, her body spinning up to a standing position, her hand reaching up and summoning her lightsaber, her body taking a battle position as she activated the saber. Mia's eyes scanned the room before she sighed softly and deactivated the lightsaber, wondering what that was. Such things did not happen on a ship in space, she knew that much from their short journey and her talking with the captain, at least not when everything went according to plan. Which naturally meant something had not gone according to the plan.

Mia sighed softly, putting her lightsaber back onto the nightstand. Leaning down, her cute little butt pushed itself up against her pink panties, her hands reaching down into a drawer and pulling out a matching bra, being put on to support her small breasts. It wasn't really needed, some Mia knew, but it made her feel more confident like she had more to show for. It didn't help the poor girl that every other woman on the ship with only a few exceptions were astonishingly busty compared to her. Looking around the room, she could tell her captain and the other girl that... accompanied them last night had left already. She had been more concerned wondering for enemies to notice they left. She pouted a bit at the thought of the captain and Yai clinging each other, Yai probably wondering if her captain was okay as they went to fix the problem together. She felt a sting of jealousy, especially thinking of how he had.. enjoyed, the other girl last night, but she quickly pulled herself together. She was a Jedi, she was not going to pout at the thought of some boy enjoying another woman, and yet, she was doing exactly that, thinking about how he had been fondling that girl, her cheeks growing red from a blush as she folded her arms childlessly, pouting cutely to herself.

Reminding herself there were more important things, she snapped out of it and finished putting on her bra, then she found her black robe from yesterday, sliding it on. Picking up her lightsaber, she slid it up her sleeve, storing it there within its secret container, brushing her blonde hair back. Her hair was loose and chaotic, the braid it had once been having been loosened a long ago, her bedhead not exactly the prettiest to look at it. It bothered her to go out like that, but again, there were more important things right now, and after only a short damage control she began to head out onto the ship, to try to see what was going on and if there was any way she could help. Soon enough however she realized there was not much she could do, and so she decided to merely go back to fixing her hair, biding her time until she was called upon.

The call came five hours later, and Mia, now with considerably more fixed hair, walked slowly into the room, seeing some of the other girls there already. Spotting Yai she pouted a bit, but quickly turned her gaze to the Captain, realizing he was briefing, and that her petty issues with the girl taking attention away from the Captain could wait. "We could establish contact and share with them the joys of the force." Mia said and nodded to herself. "Even if they are not valuable to us, we could be valuable to them - it is our duty to enlighten them with what we can offer." She said and nodded to herself, seeming utterly genuine. She herself had been raised a slave and been freed by the Force, and now she saw an opportunity to help a poor people away from their own slavery and into the comforting light of The Force.

Nyxia Vors

Nyxia had caught up to Dani and Kaylee on the way to the sick bay and moved ahead of the other girls, calling the lift and making sure doors were open, the hall clear. By then the young blond had traded her usual skimpy but boyish outfits for a light, form fitted armor. In the ensuing hours, she'd worked hard too assist repair crews--sometimes by actualy fixing things, others as simply a pair of hands that knew a hydrospaner from a self sealing stem bolt.

At the briefing Nyxia stood next to Kaylee, one arm around the curvier blond's little waist. She glanced at Mia when the young jedi--yet another blond--spoke. For a moment, old suspicions reared their ugly head in her heart. Gossip had gotten around quickly that the captain had won the jedi girl for a lover--apparently an exclusive one! Unlike the Zeltron's who spread the juicy tidbit, Nyxia had quietly growled more than once at the thought that Mia had wooed the captain just to get out of work.

The Zeltrons didn't seem to think so. They seemed more to be bragging on their captain's prowess as a lover when they spoke of it--or perhaps Mia's!

There is no wisdom in letting suspicion, resentment, and fear form conclusions for me, Nyxia realized then. These thoughts bare the tocuh of the Dark Side. I have always read that Jedi study very little beyond the Force and the Light Saber. Perhaps it's the oposite? Perhaps she feels worthless for having nothing to do but warm the captains' bed?

Nyxia gave Kaylee a quick kiss on the cheek, then Dani. Breaking away from her two friends, she moved too Mia and touched the other girl on the shoulder. "We haven't spoken much, Mia. I'm Nyxia, a student of the Jacyen Sha order. Do you think maybe, if we worked together--we could study what the Force will reveal to us about that planet? There may be holy people there guided by the Force?

She reached down and touched Miea's fingers, offering to take her hand. "If you don't knwo how to do it, I can show you. But I suspect you can teach me a lot."

Mia jumped a little as she was touched on her shoulder, her eyes rapidly glancing down at Nyxia, her darker blue eyes looking at the softer eyes of the bustier girl. "Ah, Nyxia..." She said and smiled at her softly. The girl kind of made her nervous, she seemed a bit as if she was constantly judging her whenever they were in the room together. Despite this, she was willing to try friendly relations with her if that is what she desired, and as she continued to speak she nodded confidently. "Indeed, we could." She said and smiled at her gently, blushing a little as she took her hand. She had seen what Nyxia had done with her hands on the other girls, and wondered for a moment if she intended to do the same to her, but that didn't seem as if it was her intention.

Wrapping her hand into her hers, she closed her eyes, beginning to focus. Slowly, she blocked out all other thoughts, allowing her mind to roam, seeking The Force for answers. She felt herself grow into a meditative trance, the only thing mattering becoming the soft hand of the older girl in her hand, and the feeling of The Force, her mind chasing threads throughout time and space. She felt a tiny movement in her robe, moving subtly as The Force begun to give its answer. She felt a shiver in her body, her hand tightening onto Nyxia's, as if she had been stabbed hard through the heart. "There is life. And beauty. But also the dark side. In the North-West. It's... intense." She said out loud, closed eyes noticeably twisting in pain. "I sense presences. Three of them, as strong as us, but one more. There is a fourth, much stronger than us, it could've hidden from us if it wanted to. It appears to be a few miles from the southernmost point of civilization. I don't know why but I think it wants us to find it." She continued. She tried to gain more, moving back to where she sensed the dark side, but the pain became too much, her eyes opening again, hand letting go off Nyxia's. "That.. is all I can see." She said and looked down, before glancing back up again, hoping it was enough to have been of use, giving Nyxia a nervous smile, confirming her theory that it was more likely to be the second theory about the captain rather than the first.

Captain Akar Kessel

Akar scowled at the news the Jedi offered. "Disturbing." He looked down at the map, at the spot Mia had indicated. "You should land around here somewhere," he indicated a patch of jungle within three dozen miles of the road, and vaguely near where the most powerful light side signature was found. "It now seems this isn't just a mission of exploration but to assess a potential threat to the future of our activities in this region of space."

Saber 7-9 Code Named: “Yai”
Day 55
300 Hours
Tagging: Captain and others in meeting.

Yai looked at her computer after inserting the chip, then shrugged and closed it. "Captain. With all due respect, this shit means nothing to me.. Unless you are attempting to say otherwise, my role is simply to provide support should shit go south." She said, staring at her captain. She'd obey his words to the very letter, he knew she would, however she.. was not the most tactful of creatures.. But she could sure as fuck shoot something a good mile off!

The Jedi was talking about sensing things like life and beauty and good and evil on the planet. None of it really made sense to Gekki, so she stayed quiet and hoped to herself that this warrior priest wouldn't talk the entire ship into drinking Rodian nectar water. The captain clearly took her ramblings and premonitions seriously. Either way, it seemed unlikely to affect the young Arkanian's work. Unless they found a way to slice the Force, she confidently expected to be left out of it.

Akar reached across to touch the young warrior on the cheek. "When that time comes, Yai," he replied, "I know you'll make me proud."

He placed his hands on the desk and finished, "Take shuttle one and two escort fighters. If you need anything besides your personal kits, the quartermaster is has been informed to expect you."

Dani

She was confused - were they trading, investigating both? neither? either? looking around her at who was present didn't help her.

She she could fight and talk and pilots were needed - thought she could make do as one - and those talking about the this force munbo jumbo might be better away from sensitive personal they might decide to manipulate 'for their own good' - she did like Nyxia but she didn't trust this stuff at all.

But other like the chief engineer would seem to be better on the ship organising repairs and the like, also why three ships? if this planet was a primitive people fighters were not needed?

"Sir ..." she knew she was going to regret this, suddenly snapping to attention her voice calm and respectful but with a clear hint of challenge in it "subject to security protocols for a potential compromised officer I request to confirm that you are sure you have not been compromised?" relaxing a bit "by query stems from your squad selection not seeming to make sense and sending two fighter craft and a shuttle seems unnecessary. Further if there are 'evil' mind controllers down there surely giving them three ships and high ranking captives important for the function of the ship" gesturing to the chief engineer "is only asking for trouble", her face in a mild frown "we could leave the planet to it's business and those on it to theirs and get to anything else - like fixing the ship", she tried to be somewhat diplomatic as surely he would appreciate that it was necessary to maintain clarity with potential mind controllers around him, flicking her eyes first somewhat nervously to the jedi - it was known the captain had been spending a lot of time with them - and than to the first mate for support, if the captain was compromised it would be up to them to make a move.

She was trying to get a firm read on the man now in case this was some jedi trick.

OOC:
Taking 10 on perception (sense influence) for the captain: 10+5+6(empathy): 21
Taking 10 on persuasion to cause offence: 10+18: 28

Understand that this is likely just a 'the party goes on the quest' piece but felt someone should ask the captain about it anyway.

Captain Akar Kessel

“We have no idea who's down there, Sha,” the captain replied, eyes dancing with excitement to learn of a potentially never before discovered species. “We'd have to be in low orbit too have telescopes that good. With only three settlements nations sighted, we can't even speculate whether or not they're warm blooded. Likewise we have no idea what they might have to trade with a more advanced civilization. Usually it's some combination of handicrafts and biological resources like medicines, exotic foods, or recreational drugs.”

“I have every confidence in you and your team to handle whatever results from your appearance. You are collectively qualified for everything from diplomacy to archaeology to ritual duels to small scale warfare.”

* * *

There was far more to Zeltron passions than lust. One, two, and then a third blink showed Akar's surprise. Then his fury blazed out of his eyes as the hot burning fires in every Zeltron soul lifted him to his feet, 'til he loomed over Dani in a way far beyond what his great height and powerful build should account for.

“This is HMS Shaak'ti, Dani. We do not cower in the void at the first sign of danger. Her majesty charged us to explore this sector. You have been assigned an away mission where your military and diplomatic expertise are both vital. Sha Lyn is not non essential personnel, she is your superior officer and in command of this mission. Show her this kind of insubordination and you'll find I won't hesitate to see a woman lashed.

“Gekki is not only a computer specialist. She's also a fully accredited combat pilot with class c blaster proficiency. If neither of those specialties ever come into play, she's still the best person in this group to operate the video logs. It's every bit as foolish to assume that you know her usefulness from her normal station as it is to assume that there is no need for her specialty on a world we have only seen from orbit.

“Do you have any further questions?” Though the last words were still backed by dangerous fury, they were clearly offering Dani a chance to step down without further embarrassment or lasting malice.

Dani

She knew she would regret it even before she had opened her mouth, and yet here she was - like so many times in training.

Her face was a mixture of emotions from annoyed to embrassed and from defiant to scared - Zeltron's were not the republic with ethical treatment laws after all lashings were fairly light if he decided she was being mutinous or sowing insurrection.

Her head dropped as she noted that if he was under any control she had not sensed it - so an entirely great continuation to her day, firstly burned and now with the ire of the captain on her, "no further questions captain - my apologies" controlling herself she looked at Sha Lyn "also to you sir - no offence was intended, I forgot myself".

She supposed Gekki deserved an apology also as she had considered the Arkanian but as she had not specifically called attention to her - the captain likely guessed her mind on that - she would leave it for the time being.

With that she offered a salute and with permission left to prepare herself, once well away from the bridge she composed herself and readied for the mission.
To herself "dammit Dani when are you going to learn to keep your mouth shut at times - going to be on latrine duty for months" she muttered.

Keiko would chuckle a bit seeing Dani make an ass out of herself. Which might not have been the best of ideas, but now that the Captain was looking at her she would question him quickly. "I am not a military person, are they meant to escort me or.. I guess the question is why would I of all people be sent down there? I know I am a medic but why not Dr. Fandomir? He would be far more qualified than I would be?"

Keiko had her medical and surgical kits with her, and would probably need to requisition a blaster for her own protection, but she was otherwise prepared to go on this mission even though she was questioning why she was picked. It was more to see what the reason why she was picked instead of Fandomir.

Sha Lyn in her assessment of things had neglected to consider one important fact. But soon the heated discussion between the Captain and Dani brought the point up and a quick look around the room, seeing the girls, a good portion, if not all of them being younger than the veteran Twi'lek. She... was in command she was the ranking officer for this mission. It made sense sure, she just hadn't thought about it. Even when she was ranking officer in a situation back in the rebellion it rarely ever came up like this, even on her brief service on Home One and that was one of the most organised ships in the fleet in a naval sense.

But here she was, being called sir outside of engineering, she'd get used to it. Turning to Dani, she kept a stern face, feeling a reassuring smile would diminish the point a little Captain Kessel just got done with. "No offence taken, be careful to not let this come up during the mission."

Turning to the rest of the girls, Sha Lyn took an authoritative tone as she spoke up. "Everyone, I expect to see you geared up and ready to leave in the shuttle bay. Let's get down there and do our jobs."

Turning from them to Captain, she gave a proper salute. "Sir." Before turning and heading off, out the room. The moment she was out the room her posture relaxed and she let out a breath, she never liked acting the part. Times like this reminded her why she was happier around machines than people. In any case, she would gear herself up, getting her suit and her gun, as well as her other supplies and heading down to the shuttle, ready to fly. She just hoped this trip wouldn't be a massive waste of her time.

Captain Akar Kessel

After a few slow breaths restored Akar's usual jovial calm, he reached over and touched Keiko lightly on the shoulder. “You're a part of this crew, Keiko,” he said softly. “With the same trust and the same responsibility as the rest of us. I'm certain Dr. Fandomir would like nothing more than to be down on a new planet. I know I would. We can none of us be two places at once, not even the jedi.”

Akar saluted Sha Lyn. “I need a moment longer with Keiko, Mia, and Yai. The rest of you are dismissed, and I look forwards to your reports.”

When the others had left, he came around his desk and touched the genius intern on the shoulder once again. He spoke softly, so that Mia and Yai could offer her the semblence of privacy if she wanted. “I thought I'd take a moment to say to you, Keiko, that I was disappointed you never came to fencing practice. Your instructors at university spoke highly of your skill, and I've never sparred your style before. I've not seen you wear your sword around the ship, either. Is there anything you'd like to talk about?”

After the team's dismissal to pack, Gekki headed back to her room at a brisk walk. Knowing that they would have some light vehicles for travel on the planet's surface, she opted to bring everything even remotely practical and portable, enlisting a couple of stronger women nearby to help her with the heavy stuff. A few scant minutes later, Miss Salen and her enlisted porters arrived at the shuttle bay. Wearing a backpack and all of her weapons, the expert slicer snapped into a professional salute at her commanding officer. "Gekkalin Salen, reporting for duty!"

Keiko was not too thrilled that the captain had touched her shoulder. She had "issues" with men and she would instinctively try to separate the captain's hand with her shoulder. Though objectively speaking, the captain raised a valid question. "To be honest, I do not think I am much of a fighter. I guess when it came down to it I made the choice to focus more on my medical studies than fencing. I just never really found the time to put back into my training as I felt that I needed to keep up with the expectations that Doctor Fandomir has for me. What good would I be if I could not keep everyone else out of the infirmary?"

Keiko had been at least satisfied with why she was selected to go down on to the new planet. "If there are people in need of care, do I help them? Is there some rule that I might not know about? My first instinct would be to help anyone that needed my care, so I think I need to know so that there is no conflict." Keiko knew that if someone went into the medical bay, she would do her best to solve their ailments. However this could be different as her mind was starting to race about what manner of creatures or who knows what she could find down there.

The captain frowned a little bit to hear Keiko's reasons for giving up her fencing. He let it slide for the moment, and even backed away around his desk in deference to her body language. “Your healer's instincts are entirely correct, Keiko. We're not here to usurp these people's cultural evolution and uplift them into galactic society. Along with the temptation to make servants of them it would cost the galaxy the chance to see what they would bring to us on their own. But we're not invisible observers to their passion plays, either. These people will be our neighbors some day—wether they come to us or our borders expand to them. Treat them as such.”

Akar opened a drawer in his desk and drew out a fencing saber in a leather scabbard, tooled with gold. There was a ruby in the hilt and the quillons were ornamented with the Kesel coat of arms. He placed it in Keiko's hands. “You should stay serious about your fencing, Keiko. A healthy body and a healy mind are one in the same. Dr. Fandomir finds the time to both advanced unarmed combat and opera.

“Bear this form me on the away mission. Call it indulging a superstition if you will. It was my first sword. I've sent it with crewmen more than once and it always comes back to me. It's a neutronium alloy—likely heavier than the blades your accustomed too. It's a good sword. Treat it as such and it will see you home safely.”

Akar stepped back and gave Keiko a smart salute. “Dismissed.”

Dani

She was not an introspective person - never had been really, but considering the upcoming mission the first time she would likely see live combat since the pirates it put her in a bit of an introspective mindset.

The thought took her a while to form but she had been neglectful in her duties - nearly three months ago she had sparred with Keiko and won, and that was when her problems started.

The aftermath had affected her, she stopped sparing properly with others for fear of the same reaction, her morale duties suffered - sure she could cheer up others but her heart was not in it, she had been irritable on security duty, and had had a number of excuses to avoid seeing any of the medics - allowing her field training to serve her as needed.

As she instinctively knew her fellow Zeltrons would pick up on the negativity she had only interacted with them infrequently within work.

Sure Nyxia and Kaylee had been pleasant and took her mind of matters - but ultimately Dani realised that taken all together she was depressed and self destructively so, she avoided those that could help her and might know her well enough to, she avoided normal medical checkup - just today she had walked into a plasma stream with barely a thought and asked the others present to not mention it so she could avoid issues, and than challanged the captain in front of the bridge staff.

He was a experienced man - he would likely realise after it settled down that while his anger was justified he might have been feeding on some of her more negative emotions also ... which would expose all her negative behaviour if he reviewed.
Not least of which was being injured going into this mission.

Introspection sucked she concluded - it offered all the reasons you felt bad which only made you feel worse, and she couldn't really get drunk prior to the mission she had that much awareness.

Still she grabbed the ingredients for her tea while preparing - perhaps the locals might appreciate it, she might be able to use this as a mild holiday where everything was relaxing prior to potentially facing the music before she got back.

Her only other stop was after a careful thought to visit Krysta - "hey Krysta, was a bit ... I was rude earlier should have stayed to talk after you were brought here. Wanted to apologies for that ... duties and stuff" it was a lie she had wanted to avoid the medical personal but hopefully if she noticed Krysta would not call her on it "Got to leave soon for a mission - but wanted to say bye first".
