Through the Veil (citizenanon x shani)

"You don't need it? Gone and turned into a big witch all on your own have you?" Sirius asked as he stepped around the room and continued to fire his low level curses at her. The room was beginning to fill with smoke, but he dodged an attack of hers and cleared the air before putting out the fires with a jet of water that shot from his wand. He put out the flames before directing the jet of water at Trixie. Hoping she were good and soaked, he followed it with a freezing spell that would hold her in place if it hit. "You can do better than that, Trixie. You're fighting like a child. Like a shool yard bully." Sirius dodged around and animated several discarded bits of clothes. They launched themselves at her and attempted to bind her hands and arms to keep her in place and remove her ability to cast at him.

"I've been that way, you only have more experiance since you have technically lived long being from the bloody future!" Watching him dodge and begin to put out the flames she created. Becoming distracted by the water soaking her to the bone, feeling the freezing spell hitting her. "Do you want me to hurt you? Is that what you want me to do Sirius? Your charms are mere childs play." She snapped seeing the clothing attack her tying her in binds making her unable to to cast and fight back, struggling against the fabric.

"Childs play?" Sirius asked. He waved his wand and the belt of her robe slithered around her body like a snake before wrapping itself around her neck. He blew away the ice that surrounded her ankles and the clothes forced her down on her knees as the belt tightened around her neck enough to send his message, but not enough to threaten her life. He grabbed her chair and sat in front of her. "You have no idea." Sirius waved his wand and the belt grew tighter. "You see only power." he shook his head. "It's not power that you lack, Trixie, you just have no idea how to harness your abilities. I can teach you, but you have to see its worth and to see that you..." He poked her chest. "You are capable of this and you." He poked her again. "Are not going to fail at this."

Feeling something slithering up her body only to see her belt from her robe wrapped around her neck. Falling to the ground once the ice disappeared falling to her knees having dropped her wand. Feeling the belt growing tighter around her neck. Groaning as the belt continued to tighten around her soft neck. The fact that she was tied and dropping her wand signified she had lost faling at this then again Bella though angry kept her head and didn't curcio him remebering he was family not wanting to really harm him or kill him. "Knock... it... off!" she snapped referancing the poking plus the tightening of he belt.

There was the sharp sound of skin on skin contact as Sirius slapped Bellatrix. She was angry and could not see what he was trying to show her and was not paying attention to what he was saying. There was another sharp sound as he gave her a matching red hue on her other cheek.

"Now that I have your attention, are you going to show the world that you are better than just being the prettier sister?" Sirius asked. "You, my dear Bella, are so much more than that. So much more than what Tom wanted you to be." Sirius went to his knees in front of her to get closer to her. "You are going to go down in history as one of the greatest witches of this age." He leaned in closer. "You are a great woman, Bellatrix. Do not be deluded into thinking otherwise."

Bellatrix's head moved with the hand that hit her feeling the stinging discomfort of the slap only to feel it again on the other side. Blinking at him did he really just strike her? He had her attention, although she was not happy, she would listen then again once out of the binds she couldn't garintee she wouldn't get him back. "I don't have to prove anything! I am prettier, stronger, and faster that's why he chose me in the first place!" Looking at him confused "What did he want me to be hm? He was training me to be better than the others until you interferred. This converstation sounds very familiar except I wasn't tired up or hit!" Bellatrix kissed remembering a similar conversation with Tom.

Sirius sighed and rubbed his face with his palm.

"Bellatrix." Sirius sighed. "The Black family is a powerful family. Very prestigious with money and political power. You know this." He leaned back. "You are the eldest daughter viable daughter of the house. Favored by your family, but not babied like Cissy, but being groomed to be a strong woman, but someone to marry off for a good wedding. Then this all powerful man comes and takes you in. He promises you power. Seduces you. Makes you eat out of the palm of his hand." Sirius watched her carefully, wondering if she would catch on. "You were his political prisoner. So long as he had you, the family would bow to his whim. With you there, they could do nothing but follow him. When you were taken, he came for Narcissa."

Sirius moved to his chair. "Ask yourself why he would come for her. She's capable, yes, but she's not you. She doesn't have your edge. Narcissa, bless her, is a soft woman and will make a good wife and mother one day, but she has no killer instinct. What use could she be to him aside from leverage against the family?"

It was a tough truth to spin. That she was an asset to him and not necessarily someone that he cared for outside of what she could get for him.

"You were nothing but a bargaining chip for Tom." Sirius spelled it out as clear as he could, even if it was painful.

Bellatrix was furious he knew how to make her feel better, her upset was better than her being angry now she was a mix of both. Angry at him for fighting with her for bothering her when all she wanted was to be alone, for tying her with clothing and hitting her. Sure her anger seemed to supside and she became upset and heart broken once more. Wanting to believe she had been more to Tom than what Sirius was telling her but maybe it was true just to get the family on his side. It was strange for him to come for Narcissa a child still in Hogwarts, not nearly as powerful nor as strong willed as Bella. Narcissa was soft and loving while Bella was raised to protect the ones she loved.

Her body went limp she stopped struggling there was no point. "You really now how to make someone feel better..."

Sirius watched as Bella seemed to deflate. "I'm playing the long game." He explained. He scooted closer to her and held her shoulders as the clothes fell away from her. He did not want her to fall. Now... he felt there was some sort of a breakthrough here.

"For you to heal and to truly feel better, Trixie, you have to know what happened and why. I'm not going to sugar coat things for you. You are an adult and it's dangerous to keep information hidden." He sighed. "You may hate me now, Bella, but you had to know."

Sirius pulled her forward and into his arms and hugged her tightly. It was, perhaps, the closest they had been since he had arrived and he would not allow her to pull away from him easily.

Blinking at him, "Good for you..." She sneered scarcastically. Feeling the clothes release her falling slightly only to be caught by Sirius. Her hand went to her face gently caressing where he struck her.

"Well perhaps you could have picked a better time to tell me...not when I'm already emotional and upsetnever kick a witch while she's down." She might have been able to handle it better if it hadn't been thrown a her at once. While she was already miserable."Hate is an understaement then again I'm not quite sure what I'm feeling right now." Bella had a whirlwind of feelings flowing through her. Letting him hug her, but she was not hugging back wanting nothing to do with his hug. Broken and upset and what he had just done to her she was definately not happy about.

Sirius let her go after a long moment and looked at her at length. "Go, take a hot bath and try to recover." Sirius stood. "I'm going to check on your sister. Come down when you're ready. We'll be waiting for you."

He left her there now. Broken hearted, in pain, and emotionally spent. Honestly, he did not expect to see her down for quite a long time. Sirius walked outside and into the sunlight. After a long moment, he spotted the woman he was after and walked towards her.

"Hey, how's the meditation going?" He asked and moved to sit down on the grass next to her. "Fall asleep out here yet, Cissy?"

Bellatrix remained on the floor even after he left, Bellatrix was emotionally drained and broken. After he had gone she carefully stood up and made her way to he bathroom drawing a bathe to soak in.

Getting the water good and warm she undressed climbing into the water. Taking a deep breathe she relaxed into the warm suds.

Narcissa was still ouside in a meditative sleep like state. Silen a first then hearing a voice "Hm? Only for a bit"

Sirius chuckled at her admission. "That's okay. I expected you to sleep a bit on your first time meditating. It's so different from how you normally think and can be a bit boring. I'm impressed that you've done so well."

He glanced back at the house and wondered if Bellatrix had gotten off of the floor yet and into the bath. He thought that maybe she had, but still did not expect her down anytime soon.

"Tell me a bit about yourself, Narcissa." He turned his head and looked at her. "You strike me as something of a cat person. Intelligent, loving, and pretty. Certainly words I would use to describe a cat." He smiled and let himself relax just a bit.

Opening her eyes to look at him, with a soft smile unaware of what happened in the house having fallen asleep. Looking to the house as he turned his head seeing if Bella was there. Hoping she was doing alright not knowing what was wrong with her.

Bellatrix was soaking in the bathe trying to relax although not fully working it was better then before. Sinking down to completely submerge herself.

"What do you wish to know?" She asked curiously. "I adore cats!" She exclaimed smiling as he compliemented her, "Thank you, and yes I do seem to share quailities with that of a cat." She giggled softly.

"A cat is a good form to take." Sirius agreed. "Professor McGonagall is a cat animagus. Tabby if my memory is clear." He smiled. "A lot of people say that you cannot pick the animal you turn into, but I don't believe that's true. I think that you make the decision deep down and the animal will show you what you're really like."

Sirius watched her for a moment. "Your sister would make a good cat too, I think. Not the same kind of cuddly cat that I expect you would be, but more of an independent cat." He chuckled. "How are you doing on your thoughts. Do you find any hard to get rid of? Do you find yourself focusing on anything you're not wanting to?"

"Oh the Transfiguration teacher?" She asked making sure it was the same. "I wouldn't know I never really thought to be an animal, so I never thought I would need to choose. I assume it's possible." Narcissa replied not looking to much into it seeing as the need never really occured. "Well she has the distant, non trusting, arrogance of such a cat she can be a pain at times..." Cissy stated her sister often concerned her. "Not really the most I've been stuck on are worrying about my test results and Bellatrix but they've gotten better know that I'm with her and can see her."

"Yep, she's the one. She would sneak through the castle at night to try and catch students out after curfew." At her admission of worrying about her sister, he shrugged. "Bellatrix is tough and she'll be okay. She's just dealing with it alone right now as she normally does. As for your tests, I'm positive that you are going to do just fine on your exams. You'd know already if you had done poorly on them. You'd have known just after you took the exam."

"Now, when you've gotten a bit better at entering and exiting the meditation trance and can do so very quickly, we will start your training. I'd also like to start teaching you occlumency. Do you know what that is?"

Nodding her head listening to him talk about McGonagall, sighing when he commented on Bella she never wanted help thinking she could do things all on her own. "Well, I don't know how I did, because Mummy and Daddy picked me up right after my tests seeing as Bella was kidnapped and I was struggling to focus..." she admitted Narcissa was good in school but the family was going through so much it was stressful.

"That might take awhile I find it hard to relax and meditate quickly..." She said always worrying. "No what's that?"

Sirius nodded about everything. He could understand the troubles she was having with the stress of school. "You'll find that you will get much better at it as you practice and start transforming." Sirius leaned against the tree. "Occlumency is a skill that helps organize your mind. You'll be able to learn things easier and quicker as well as protect your mind against people that can read it. Tom, Dumbledore, and several others can do it and it's a wonderful ability to have."

After a moment, he added, "Yes, I can do it, but I have to speak the spell out loud to do so. You don't have to worry about me reading minds here."

It was just Narcissa's nerves getting the best of her. Wanting to do well she was always worried about the family much like Bellatrix, bur seeing her sister run away and the other one fightin, afer Bella being taken Tom coming after her. Nodding her head it was still tough at the moment to just drop everything and go into that state. Narcissa listened still sitting in her relxed positon Occlumency sounded like it would definatly be a spell to learn to keep everyone out."Well I assume that's good to know, I llike my thoughs where they are."

Bellatrix sat up in the tub once more dripping wet taking a deep breath washing the soap from her body. Draining the water she climbed out of the tub drying off with a towel. Wrapping the towel around her waist and another around her Raven curls. Walking into heer bedroom looking at the broken objects having gotten upset...again. Bellatrix fixed the mess she made, changing into a dark purple dress her black bra, panties, of corse her black corset, having worn one since she was 16. Drying and styling her curls, appying light make up a soft smokey eye, nude/pink lip. Always feeling better after she bahed and dressed upup no tha she was going anywhere and she was still upset and heart broken. Bella looked out the window seeing the two outside. Sighing she closed the curtian laying back down awahile thinking.

Sirius caught the motion of the curtains out of the corner of his eyes, but did not draw attention to it. Bellatrix had a lot to get through on her own. "Yes, most people do tend to like to keep their private thoughts private." He smiled, "It's natural to not want someone going through them and it will be easy to do once you get the basics down."

It was getting late in the day though. "Why don't we head on inside? I'll put something on for dinner and you can help. If we try, we might be able to coax Bellatrix out of her cave long enough for her to eat." Sirius stood and offered his hand to Narcissa to be the perfect gentleman. "Do you have a preferred meal, Narcissa?"

Sirius was not sure that Bellatrix would come down for dinner, but it would keep Narcissa busy and hopeful. Inwardly, he was pleased for how concerned Bellatrix was over Narcissa and the rest of the family, but he knew that was something she still shared, at least for Cissy, when she was older. He just hoped to keep her on a good path.

Bellatrix didn't know what to do nor where to go so torn andconflicted. Having thought she was helping her family, scared and proud to be the only woman chosen to become a Death Eater and serve in their noble cause. Wanting to be the right hand of Tom he seemed so perfect in every way, so enamered with him hwith his power, and skill level, it helped that he was tall, pale and handsome with is dark hair and those beautiful eyes. Then seeing what he becomes, all of the hope and promises seemed to disappear and the fact Sirus ran around calling him a half blood didn't help anything. Looking at the dark mark on her arm the snake circling her arm from time to time showing that he was looking for her. Thinking about the future according to Sirius half of the family ends up dead while she herself Sure she's powerful and down right deadly but she winds up in Azkaban, she couldn't win.

Looking up at Sirius when he commented about going inside, "Yeah I'm getting a bit chilly anyway...Alright! " She smiled, Narcissa liked helping the house elves prepare food then again she was never mean to them like most of the family sure there was a class or so differance butit didn't really matter much to Cissy. Her smile faded, "Good luck with that...if she's in one of her moods she won't be down anytime soon..." Narcissa said sighing softly knowing how stubborn her sister could be then again Bella was a power house when her emotions were unstable, not always realizing what she did until told or until it was over. "I'm not picky I enjoy stews or ham, or pasta dishes." She smiled softly taking his hand standing up.

"I have everything for a stew and since it's getting colder..." He escorted Narcissa back to the house and into the kitchen. There, he pulled out drinks for the two of them and began to prepare the evening meal with her assistant. She was a deft hand at preparing the ingredients. Probably due to having a good potions instructor. Narcissa, he remembered, while not Snape, could produce most any potion that did not require a mastery to complete.

"Perhaps she will be or perhaps she won't." Sirius agreed. "Bellatrix has had a bit of an upturn in her world today, I don't think she'll be as... hidden away as she normally is." A day or two at the most, he was sure. "You're doing a good job with the vegetables." He complimented. Soon the smells of a savory beef stew filled the house and he was sitting down at the table with a butterbeer while their dinner simmered to perfection.

Narcissa smilded, "Stew sounds just fine then" She said following him back to the house. Rubbing her arms gently not realiing how chilly it had gotten. Narcissa began preping and cutting various vegetables, chopping, cutting dicing, using a variety of knife skills. Narcissa enjoyed cooking even though she ooften had to fight with the house elves to let her. She very well indeed have a good potions instructor as well as her want to be a healer needing to know potions as well. The Narcissa he knew from the future often had to heal the many Death Eather's that came back wounded including her sister Bellatrix who needed a lot of care. Eveny with out a Mastery of them she tried and often worked with Severus. Sirring the caludron occasionally smelling the delicious scent. "Thank you, Yeah it's hard to tell with Bella I never know what she's going to do..."

Bellatrix remained upstairs laying on her bed looking at the mark on her arm watch the snake circling her wrist showing he was still looking for her. It pained her so, her world had seemed so perfect. Would he really just use her as a simle pawn in his plan and nothing more? Her thoughts were interupted by the smell of stew filling the air. Sitting up a moment then turning herself over looking out the window.

Sirius chuckled and sipped at his drink. "Well, Bellatrix is certainly unpredictable when she's upset." Sirius rubbed his chest briefly where the spell she had caught him with in the future struck him. He sighed a bit. That was behind him and would not be happening here. Sirius pu the drink down and looked to Narcissa. "Cissy, I think I need your help with something. You see, I've been... out of circulation for a long while and have had a disconnect with the Pureblood culture." Sirius scratched his chin. He could feel the stubble there. "I need some fashion advice. I have a meeting soon and need to look the part of a pureblood." He chuckled, "As you can see, I don't exactly fit that look right now. Do you think you can help me?"
