Crista took the time to slip back into the nightgown she had taken off the night before and never put back on. Then she just sat in the bed, waiting for the doctor, thinking over so many things.
Soon he was with her, smiling and letting her know how pleased he was that she was up and doing well it seemed. She let him ask this questions first. Routine things, but then she had to ask hers.
She let him know about the drink that Haylel had forced down her throat she recalled four times. She decribed how it tasted and what the other girls had told her it was meant to do.
"I do know of such things. Women of certain... professions have been known to drink such a thing to prevent them from conseving with the many partners they have in a time period," the doctor explained to her.
"You see my fear then doctor? I took that thing for a time. What if it's... already taken affect on me? Could it have?"
The doctor sighed, "I will not lie to you Crista. It could. The odds are more in the favor it has not though, so that is good news."
"But it could have...." she repeated, only thinking the worst.
The doctor took her hands, kindly, "But it could NOT have as well."
"Aiden wishes to marry me doctor. You know I can't if I can't.... produce for him."
"My dear girl, if you saw how that boy worried over you in the last few monthes time, you'd know he could care less over something like that."
"How long before I know for certain?"
The doctor shrugged, "There is no way to, until you either conceive or you do not. It is the only way." He patted her hand, "Now you are ordered to remain in bed a few more days my dear. You must be hungry so I will have food brought up at once. Broth and bread only for now my dear, but if you can hold it down, we'll have you eating real hearty foods in a few days time. And I promise, I will not say anything to him about what we have spoken of. You do it in your own time."
The doctor soon departed and Crista knew Aiden would arrive shortly.
