Fixers (Beautiful_Disgrace and I)

"Get together," Luce ordered, sweeping the weapon around as she flicked on her flashlight as a precaution. "To the door, and move quick." She didn't like being stuck in this shithole without an avenue of escape.

"Aernir and Rayna immediately went to the door. Surprisingly Olivia followed...or maybe not. She seemed pretty freaked out by whatever had moved into the pile of crap closest to her. Aernir fiddled with the door but it was locked again. "What the..." He trailed off.

Something wasn't right..nothing was attacking them, which was strange.

Wizard? Luce said, sweeping her Saiga to cover their backs. ...Shit, Wizard?. Well, that was new...interference? Or was this place some giant fucking trap?

"Guess...we move on after all?" Luce decided, grimacing in annoyance.

"No turning back, no escape. Just up...no where else to go but up. This is his world, he makes the rules and he says that we're on our own." Rayna repeated back to the three. Another spirit...this one less friendly...it laughed at them and taunted her. Olivia narrowed her eyes.

"Why are you saying such creepy bullshit, huh? Let's just go..." Despite Olivia's words, she wasn't budging. This time she'd wait for the light to guide her.

"Welcome to Rayna," Luce murmured. "But what she says is true, we're going to have to be careful. C'mon, if you're going to stick with us, Miss Perfect, you listen." Last thing she needed was some gung-ho bitch sniffing around. Moment Rayna got into trouble because of her, she'd be the first one dead.

Was she trying to rub her the wrong way? Olivia really hated girls like her, but Rayna began to move towards the staircase. "Nothing will hurt us down here. They are too weak." She told them as Aernir kept close to her. Olivia followed silently, though she was glaring at Luce from the side. Fucking people thought they were such hot shit. If she wasn't on a mission right now...the things she would say.

Aernir pulled out the two daggers he had gotten from the last mission. His regular knives wouldn't be very effective against robots, but these would do nicely. He was glad he brought them. "The ghosts know anything about the man up top, Rayna?" He asked as they crept up the stairs. Rayna just shook her head.

"No. He's just...bad." She told him as they reached the top of the stairs. A large gate prevented them form going any higher.

"Hmm..there's two stairwells on both sides of the building. We'll need to go through this floor to get to the other side and see if that way isn't blocked." It was definitely a strong looking gate that was reinforced with heavy steel bars..multiple layers.

"Alright then," Luce mumbled. "Aernir, stick with Rayna...I'll go with Olivia. Pick your poison, Miss Perfect. Left or right stairwell?" She knew Rayna would be safe with Aernir, she wanted to see this bitch in action. Place gave her the damn creeps...ugh, this is why she was kind of glad she was biotech and not cybernetics.

"The stairwell that isn't fucking blocked." Olivia spat as she kicked open the door to the second floor. Once again, all darkness. "Shine your light in there and lets go, toots. I don't have all day here." There was already..a faint sound of humming coming from that room. It was dark, but there were flashes of light here and there. There was definitely something..there.

"...Ugh," Luce muttered, following her up the stairs. She was glad she went first, because she looked meaty enough to take a couple of hits. "Apparently 'tactics', mean about as much to you as a braincell." she said, flicking the flashlight on regardless to sweep the room carefully. The fuck was that noise?

Aenir could hear those two all the way upstairs and wondered if they'd really be okay. They couldn't communicate with each other at all so the split up was risky..but at least he didn't have to deal with...that.

*************
"Are you serious? Your tactics involved us trying to run away, and now you split everyone up. Hopefully Princess Mage and that bag of bones will be okay against potential mechanical threats." Olivia's eyes swept the room with Luce's flashlight, her gun at the ready. Suddenly, the whirring got louder...more lights started appearing out of darkness, and for a minute things just went quiet. That was when the flash of bullet fire went off, and it was aimed right for the two. It illuminated the room just enough for Olivia to grab Luce and duck behind a metal crate for cover. Goddamn shit...there had to be at least six of them...heavy armored rusty bots but nothing her high powered gun couldn't handle.

Luce let the stupid whore distract her, and now she had to the damn audacity to yank her around like she didn't know the problem. She checked the chamber of her Saiga and flicked the selector switch.

"Well, so much for sneaking around," Luce said, taking a faint breath before rising out of cover. Before the robot could even get a bead on her, she was already two shots in. The muzzle flash was massive, and the rapid chunk, chunk, chunk of the shotgun action was almost deafening as she raked it across, two of them went sprawling with loud pangs, denting the ruined planting and staggering them back.

Olivia let Luce deal with the ones on her right. She just pointed and aimed at the lights in the dark and her shot. Her shells were special...the closer range they were the more dangerous but..she managed to hit them easy enough. Two shots each..they were down for the count, their lights shutting off as they lost the parts to function. Two more left, she had to duck behind cover and she did...because another hair of bullet fire was coming straight towards them. The things didn't even really need to reload...they just had poor reaction time which was expected for rust buckets like them.

Luce was already moving forward, shotgun barking like fire as she put another one down and ejected the empty mag, going into cover to feed a fresh one in. "You dead yet!?" she called over withering gunfire, racking the charging handle.

"You wish!" That bitch was trying to show her up. Well Olivia would fucking show her up. Olivia wouldn't let her. She moved her hand into her pack and loaded up some custom ammo. She moved around the cover and pulled the trigger on her rifle after closing some distance. Once the shell pierced into it's armor it stood there for a few seconds, and then the inside just...completely exploded.

No time for a victory dance. They needed to get to the other stairwell.

"You have no idea," Luce muttered, moving past her and the husks of the old bodies, her boot slamming into a almost functioning head. "Come on, keep up...we need to find whoever's doing this so I can shoot them, a lot." Oh, now she was showing off? Figures, prissy bitch probably had her panties hand made from silk in a Boston sweatshop.

"Don't order me around, you stuck up bitch!" Olivia snapped as she moved along with her. Yeah....this was the second floor out of ten...the top was a long way off, but at least they got through that pretty quickly. The other staircase...well it didn't have a blockade like the other one did. Though once they hit the third floor, the same gate stood in their way. "So what...does that mean the other side isn't blocked again?"

When she opened the door, she a bright light. Wait...Aernir and Rayna were here already? Around them were the bodies of...many more armored robots. About eight more. All charred and burned. She cocked her head to the side. "How did you two get up here?"

"Magic." Aernir said with a grimace. "Come on, we need to get up to the fourth floor...We came to meet back up with you guys. Those things are hard to fight and Rayna's already tired."

"No I'm not..." Rayna said defiantly. Though casting a constant fireball spell and flickering in and out of reality was a really hard thign to accomplish.

Luce moved closer to Rayna, hand on her shoulder. "We'll switch," she assured, giving her a faint smile. About as faint as Luce can manage in public company. "Aernir, go with the pain in our ass. She actually knows what she's doing." A compliment, almost. "We'll be a step behind you, I'll keep with Rayna."

"Ummm, I can see in the dark. Can you?" Aernir asked Olivia, who was actually fuming as she glared at Luce.

"No...but I have my own flashlight, so you can hold it for me." She said as she reached into her pack and threw it at Aernir. Great, they both seemed even more irritated with each other. He knew the old Luce would have just killed her by now and staged it as an accident.

Rayna held Luce's hand as she dispelled her fireball, leaving nothing but the ray of the two flashlights in sight. Aernir took the lead since he could see pretty much everything he needed to.

"Stay close, Rayna," Luce murmured, slinging her shotgun back for now to switch to her P-48 pistol. It'd was built to penetrate armor, likely a better choice than a shotgun. Her fingers linked shamelessly with hers as they moved behind them. Somewhere, she wondered where she had gotten like this...but she didn't care much.

The fourth floor was much more quiet than the second and third one. When Olivia scanned it, it was devoid of any dead parts unlike the other floors. In fact, it looked very cleaned and maintained. "He's making us go through these rooms for a reason...so we can't let our guards down..." Olivia told them as she kept her rifle steady while they walked to the other side of the building, passed the elevator...

Just as they walked passed it though, it pinged and made Rayna jump and move closer to Luce. "What the..." Aernir saw a stream of light rise up through the solid metal doors and just before they opened he could hear the faint sound of ticking.

"Shit," Luce cursed. "Move!" she ordered, grabbing Rayna by the waist to push her ahead. "Go, go!" she ordered. "Run!" Oh, whoever this person was, he was crawling quickly up Luce's shitlist, and that was a big list in the first place.

Aernir grabbed Olivia too. He wasn't sure how fast she could run, and if she had a problem with it he'd deal with it later. Fucking bombs now!? Seriously?!

Her heard a loud blast..but it didn't sound anything like a bomb. No, it was more like...a static sound. But before he knew it..he couldn't see. Anything. And his legs...they weren't functioning anymore. He collapsed to the ground, Olivia falling with him. "Shit..what the...fuck..." He growled. He couldn't get them to respond at all...

"Aernir, are you okay?!" Rayna asked as she ran to his side. He didn't seem hurt so why wasn't he moving?

Luce stopped a moment, glancing around. Static, crackling...she could hear it in the internal comm she had.

"...Chaff," Luce muttered. "Fuck, we fell right into it." Thankfully, Luce was all organic, her bones were not taking the sound very well, but other than that, she was fine. "He should be fine, Rayna," Luce said, moving closer to help lift him a little to settle him against the wall. "He just needs time for his legs to get back in action."

Olivia pulled herself off the floor and dusted herself off. What the hell was that about? "..So that's why there are no machines on this floor. Whatever bastard is doing this is showing that he can disable cyberware temporarily...is that supposed to be a threat?" The two girls seemed fine..and Olivia didn't have any enhancements at all.

"Legs and eyes...." Aernir corrected as the redness in his pupils started to light back up again. That was...a full sixty seconds before they rebooted? He gritted his teeth as his legs began to connected with his nerves again as the rebooted. Ugh..that was never a good feeling. "I'll be okay in a second but...that's pretty annoying."

"Yes, you stupid bitch, it is a threat." Luce muttered. "Imagine what would happen if we were all decked out? We got lucky, Aernir's not so rigged up that he's dead. We could have had our brains fried. Whoever is doing this is taking extra steps to make sure they take away every advantage."
