Adam had gotten a little comfortable in his job, he felt. And being understaffed really made him work, they had to start almost from scratch. A lot of the servers were damaged from the explosion...which meant records were lost forever. Back-ups would take time to get from the Turugan mayor (surprisingly, someone did want to actually make sure the adult side of things ran smoothly) and assuming they would respect that a teenager was now the leader of the DC by way of seniority...ugh.
He slumped back in his computer chair, rubbing his face with a faint sigh. What did they have? Two laptops and a desktop PC. Truly, they were living the good life. It was a pain starting to restablish the database. The combat grading database was mostly paper, which also meant people who were willing to do that, had to sign up again, and ugh...ugh, ugh, ugh...he missed that day in the guest house more and more. They hadn't really seen much of each other, for good reason.
But...it was a considerable shock to see Mei come in on crutches, a medical eyepatch over her left eye. He rose up in complete surprise, eyes widening.
"M...Mei?" he mumbled incredulously. "What...what happened? Are you okay!?" he said, moving closer.
