School Rumble (Broom and I)

"I suppose I can," Mifune agreed. He was starving, actually...and he was somewhat curious why everyone was eager for Komoku's cooking, anyway. Still, it had been a long time since he had seen Sophie so excited, maybe this wasn't a bad thing after all.

"Well, at least Komoku's food can dull the ache," Dujae grumbled.

"So you guys are really just going to ignore the fact that Mei has our match ups and she won't tell us until later?" Catalina asked with an exasperated look on her face while Mei turned around and started walking to their place. It wasn't too far from the arena.

"She said she'd tell us soon, so that's okay." Kitten told Cat with a grimace.

"And Mei likes being dramatic," Jana smirked, nudging her friend. "She always has been. I think she likes watching everyone squirm when she knows all the answers."

"I'm just following the rules." Mei told Jana with a grimace as the group made their way over to her apartment.

"Well you didn't have to announce to us that you knew the match ups! Come on, who's my next opponent?" Catalina asked desperately as she walked closer to Mei.

"You'll find out soon, stop asking me." She growled back as she folded her arm. "You need to learn self control and patience."

"Yeah, self control, patience," Komoku sniffed, arms around Mei's shoulder protectively. "Stop buggin' my woman, Cat."

"Such a gentleman," Jana grinned. She had kind of expected Komoku to react differently when Mei was pregnant, but if anything, they seemed closer.

"Pfft, fine. But the next time I know something you don't, I will make sure to let you know and watch you squirm." Catalina growled before falling back to pout with the other sour pants in the group.

By the time they got to her place and everyone was settled, Mei told them the match ups. Kitten was completely discouraged while Catalina was practically jumping for joy. Eva was grinning like a mad woman.

"Well I wanted to beat the shit out of Blake...but I guess Justin will give me some fun." Eva smirked. She would make that boy dance...

"Blake, huh?" Mifune said offhand. "Whose he?"

"Garbage," Jana replied in turn, but acted like the venom wasn't even there. Mifune decided to leave that alone, point taken.

"Masami should be a fun fight for you, Kitten," Sejae smiled, hand on her shoulder. "You liked sparring with her, right?" Sejae swore she still took her fights a little too seriously, even though she didn't enjoy combat too much.

"But I joined this tournament so I could help Mei...I didn't want to fight my friends or you, Sejae." Kitten whined as she leaned against him. "And she's Komoku's sister, too...I don't want to hurt her. But holding back would probably make her upset." She was with Eva on wanting to be matched with Blake. She never liked him much.

"It's okay, Kitty. Masami isn't a lightweight, you know that! She's damn good in a fight, she can handle you." Catalina told her as she ran her fingers through her hair. Kitten's eyes drooped lazily at that as she leaned into Catalina's palm.

Mei's eyes narrowed at that. Those two seemed pretty close these days.

Sejae and Dujae were being artfully ignorant about it, too. Jana's brows furrowed faintly, elbows on the table.

"Uh huh," Jana stated plainly.

"...What?" Dujae mumbled. "What?"

"Nothing," Jana smirked. "Or is there something, Dujae?"

"Kitten and I live next door to each other, we can't be close?" Catalina sniffed as she continued to run her fingers through Kitten's soft hair. "Especially when Komoku abandoned her to live with you and Mei and stopped giving her cooking lessons. But that's okay, I'm teaching her now. She knows how to cook Latino style."

"It's okay. Mei needs the lessons more than me anyway." Kitten lazily said, ignorant of the offense that Mei would take from her sentence. Her mother had tried to teach her and she still didn't get it...she read dozens of cook books and she still couldn't make anything worth a damn. Ugh...she was hopeless in that department.

"Yeah, especially now that she's going to be a mother. Unless Komoku will be the house bitch." Eva grinned.

"Wait, Mei's pregnant?!" Sophie shrieked in surprise.

"Yup," Jana grinned. "Surprise! Komoku's gonna be a Daddy."

"Never thought I'd be an uncle at this age," Dujae sighed. "Oh well, god knows Komoku won't teach that brat squat."

"Pfft, the way those two are with each other? I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner." Catalina successfully diverted the topic! Not that she would have any shame in admitting the things that she liked to do with her boyfriend and his brother along with Kitten.

"Well congratulations! That's really romantic. I love kids, if I'm still around I want to meet your little baby! Oh my God, that means Mifune's going to have a second cousin!" Sophia exclaimed as she pulled Mifune closer.

"I doubt he'll be around to enjoy it." Mei muttered stiffly. Since apparently he hated everyone that was related to him.

"Sophie," Mifune sighed a little. "You do have a concert tour, remember?" he said in minor annoyance. "You're supposed to be in China next month!" He chose to ignore Mei's jab, mostly because he didn't know what to tell her, because he probably wouldn't.

"Oh yeah.." That reminder seemed to suck the life out of her. She sighed and then sat down on the couch and pouted for a moment before those eyes lit up again. "But I want to come back here! Turuga is the best, I would love to stay here when I'm not on tour! I want to learn how to do those techniques and fight too!"

"Ah, to be so blissfully ignorant. It really is true freedom." Eva said with a smile.

"Sophie," he sighed, rubbing his neck. "Are you serious about this? You do know having a home here will make going out from Asia a little harder? I thought you wanted to travel the world?"

"Let her have her fun," Jana smiled, nudging Eva gently. "Nothing says she can't learn a few tricks anyway."

"The world wants me to travel the world," Sophie said with a pout as she crossed her legs. "I love my fans, but I want to do something for me for once! If that means it will take a little longer to get to other places, well they'll just have to wait! I wonder what my element would be? Ice? Fire? Boom Boom? Would it be boom boom?!" She asked excitedly.

"Are you talking about that thing Mifune can do? Or Combustion?" Mei asked with a tilt of her head.

"I'm talking about BOOM BOOM!" She shouted, causing Catalina to wince.

"Aye yi yi, your element would be sound with that voice, chica." She commented as she continued to stroke through Kitten's long locks.

"...I bet Adam could find out, actually." Jana murmured with a casual tilt of her head.

"What, you seriously think she has an element somewhere?" Dujae mumbled. "Seriously?"

"Well, nobody knows if it's training or just a...you know, genetic talent or something, so why not?" she smiled. "Maybe she does have a gift, it'd be an interesting test anyway."

"Okay, who's Adam and when can I meet him?" Sophie was already in front of Jana as she was smiling from ear to ear.

"He's Mifune's sisters boyfriend. You would have already met him if he actually went to see his sister." Mei answered casually. Those two were living together, worked together..they were attached to the hip. Mei was just glad that all three of them had made their peace. If they could do that, Mifune could too. He just didn't want to.

"How shocking it must be to realize that people in our family suck," Mifune said dryly. "Are you going to tell me what's bothering you, or are you going to be passive aggressive the entire time?"

"What's bothering me is that you haven't seen Kokoro. She has no idea that you're here, you know. She's not going to watch any of the fights until the finals, you can still go see her without her finding out you've been here for the passed couple weeks without telling her." Mei said as she placed a hand on her hip. "She had nothing to do with how your mother and father and brothers treated you."

"If it bothers you so much, then why don't you tell her I'm here?" MIfune replied dryly, fingers slipping across the table. What was he supposed to tell her? Hi, Kokoro, I'm back only for a little while. "What am I supposed to say, Mei? Sorry I left without saying anything, but I'm probably going to leave on short notice again? It's better she knows I'm not here. It's easier, and it's safer."

"I haven't told her because she would be happier hearing it from you. How is it unsafe for you to see her at least once before you leave?" Mei asked as she narrowed her eyes.

"Because things with my parents didn't end nicely, alright? Why do you care so much?" Mifune groused. "Stay out of my life and I'll stay out of yours, Mei."

"Who says I don't want you in my life, Mifune? I don't know what happened between you and your parents, but I do know that Kokoro missed you. And like it or not, you're family too. That's why I care so much!" Mei said as she crossed her arms.

"...Why don't we just see your sister, Mifune?" Sophie asked as she glanced over to him. She knew he was being stubborn, she just never knew why. Part of her felt guilty because he kept using her as an excuse. But Mei wanted him to see his sister badly...

"...Fine," Mifune said, rolling his eyes. "Fine, we'll go see my sister." They wouldn't get it, so he wouldn't bother explaining. Silverworking was their blood, literally. That was what his father, did, his grandfather and so on and so on. The fact that Mifune had no sense whatsoever for it meant that he was little more than a disgrace to the house, Kokoro being so talented was simply a godsend, if you heard them say it.

Since when did Mei and Kokoro get along so well?
