School Rumble (Broom and I)

The more she spoke, the angrier he got. They did care about him...they just knew that he could handle this by himself. "Shut up! Shut your fucking mouth! You don't know shit, and I'm going to remind you exactly why you should FEAR ME!" He screamed as two thick, black tendrils came from the deepest shadowy corners of the house and grabbed him, yanking him back into the growing, seemingly endless void. He disappeared from her sight...this wasn't normal shadow.

It only got darker, the only spots safe from the growing black mist were by the windows where the sunlight could shine in. "You think your precious light will save you, Jana? Light just creates more shadow!" His voice seemed to be coming from all over the place, but only because he was stalking around through the shadows attempting to catch her off guard.

"You can't have fire without light," she muttered, stabbing her blades into the floor. "Let me show you why you should fear me." she said, the fire licking around her feet before he trailed up her body. It was a trick she had learned from Komoku, not learned...but adapted. She focused for a half second before she narrowed her eyes and let out a loud, primal scream. The flames around her rippled into a tornado of fire, shattering the windows and tearing into the crappy house. Flames began to take everywhere, but she didn't stop her release of energy.

She would burn everything down if she had to. He deserved it.

Blake's eyes went wide and he immediately took cover in the hallway of the house as the flames exploded from her body. Fuck! Crazy bitch...he couldn't fight her like this! He could already feel his lungs burning as smoke began to fill the house. Seeing as how he couldn't even get close to her...he'd just have to get the fuck out of here. Even if he said he wasn't going to run, he wasn't going to take his chances getting burned to death.

He had went into the hallway for cover, which meant he had several escape points. He ran into one of the bedrooms and then opened the window. Fuck..fuck!

Immediately, a strong hand gripped his throat and slammed him to the ground. Mel and Megumi, at the ready. She could already hear Justin and Mei rounding the corner as Jana's energy died down, and she headed out of the house like some sort of smoked goddess of fire.

"Well well..." Mel purred. "If it isn't the little cock that dared to touch my daughter..."

Blake cried out when he hit the ground. Shit..adults?! He...he couldn't do this. He should just give up...he knew when he couldn't get out of something and this was the time. He saw the Ice Bitch and some other guy he didn't recognize join up with the two women. He couldn't run from this and yet he saw no reason to fight. By the time Jana had found him he looked like a scared little boy.

"Leave me alone!" They were all glaring at him...it was too much...he couldn't breathe....he felt like hew as going to snap at any moment. There was nothing he could do..he was outnumbered again just like before...and his sisters were no where to be found...again.

He really was alone...

"Shh," Mel murmured. "It's okay...I can see it in your eyes, boy. You're scared, it's okay to be afraid...but you've done something that can't be forgiven, even in Turuga." she murmured. "So be a good boy, behave. Don't make this more painful for you than it needs to be. We're not here to beat the snot out of you."

"Mom!" Jana growled. Was she serious!? She was raped! What sort of fucking sympathy did she need!?

"Jana," Mel said. "Look at him, what is this going to give you? This child hurts, in deeper ways than you can imagine. You've been there, hurting him does nothing but continue his pain. He needs real help. Help that we can't get him."

"But..." Jana hissed, tears of frustration brimming in her eyes. It hurt, because as much as she wanted to slit that son of a bitch's throat. What would it do? Would it make her feel better? Would it make her forget? Or would it just be some hollow sense of victory? "Don't you care about me!? He-"

"Jana," Mel said, eyes narrowed. "You are my world, my sun...this isn't you. You are not the wolf who needs to bite at every ankle to get ahead anymore. This gives you nothing but a hollow sense of victory."

Mei stared at Blake for a moment as he cowered at their feet. He was shaking, and he looked like he was close to tears. He wasn't expecting any kindness from anyone, just more pain. Mel..was right. No matter how angry Mei was at him...even if he did hurt Jana...they already beat the shit out of him once...and by the looks of things, he wasn't planning on fighting anymore.

"It's okay, Jana." Mei said softly before walking over to her and hugging her tightly. "Just look at him..he's not worth it. Isn't it enough..to simply make sure he doesn't hurt anyone anymore?"

"No!" Jana hissed, tears exploding off her cheeks. "No, it's not! Do you think I want to, to..." God dammit, why couldn't everything be easy? Why couldn't she just beat the shit out of him and feel better? All she could do was attach herself to Mei's hug like it was the last one she'd ever get, face buried against her hair. It wasn't fair, why did he get out of this without anything and she had to carry all of the scars from it!?

"You need help, kid," Mel murmured, glancing down at him. "God knows what made you so lost, but you're going to get the help you need...if you like it or not."

Mei just stroked the back of her head, glancing at Justin who was strangely silent and...accepting of it all. As if he wasn't angry over this, either. Did he actually understand? "I know, Jana. It hurts...I can't imagine how bad you must feel. I felt so much anger when I rescued you..no matter how much I kicked him when he was down I didn't feel better. I still felt angry. Komoku had to stop me, but even if he didn't I'm sure I would have felt just as angry as I did at the beginning of the fight. It's okay." Mei still didn't quite understand feelings or people, but she was doing this for Jana. She wanted to be there for her.

Blake winced at Mel's stare, as if he expected her to lash out at him. Her words made him shake his head in denial. "I don't need help...I'm fine..I'm perfectly fine..I don't need help from anyone but me!" He cried out as he grabbed fistfuls of his hair, feeling more tears coming to his eyes. He hated them...he hated his sisters for abandoning him. Just like his stupid parents..just like everyone in his life!

Jana blinked tears out of her eyes, rubbing her face. "...Yeah, I guess." she mumbled, glancing away. So that was it...everything was just...okay now? That what he did was just going to go unpunished?

"It's okay," Mel murmured gently, glancing at Megumi to call the police. "Everything is going to be fine, Blake. I promise...you just need to listen to us, and you'll be okay."

Megumi was already on it. She did feel sorry for the kid, but he couldn't just keep roaming around like this.

Mei looked into Jana's eyes, relaxing her arms and letting her hands fall to Jana's hips. "It's going to be okay..I promise you, Jana." She heard her mother speaking to the police. It was best that they take over and handle that nut case. Especially when she couldn't keep him locked up before...she would hate to see him escape again under her watch.

Blake just kept himself curled up at their feet. He didn't run..there was no point. He couldn't..and he wasn't being attacked either so why bother? He just kept muttering something about being fine, that he was already okay. Over and over. Trying to convince himself of something far from the truth.

Jana glanced at Mei, then slid her arms around her neck to hug her, forehead resting against hers. "...If you say it's going to be okay, it's going to be okay," Jana mumbled. "I trust you, Mei...even if I don't like this, right now." Who would? But...maybe they're right, maybe she couldn't make a smart choice when she was so angry at everything.

A fire truck and a few cop cars showed up soon after the call. While the house was tended to, Detective Ceaser Sharp and Officer Griffin Evans were the first to approach them. "This the kid?" The red head that Mei recognized from her last trip to the station asked.

"No! I don't want to go to jail!" Blake screamed, answering Griffin's question.

"Easy!" Mel murmured. "You're not going to jail, Blake...you're going to go somewhere that can help you," she said, scratching her forehead with a sigh. "Don't make this hard, kid...you're already in deep."

"Hmph," Jana muttered, arms crossing in bitter anger. Fucker like him would never learn.

"Come on, Blake." Griffin grumbled as he pulled up the kid, rather roughly. He didn't fight back, but he did yelp in pain at the force.

"Easy, Evans. He's not resisting..just crying." Ceasar told the older man as he dragged Blake away to the cop car. Ugh..he was always so rough. Never showing compassion for anyone. He sighed and then looked over to Mei and Jana. They both looked pretty upset. Mei seemed to read his mind and she moved Jana over to Justin so he could comfort her while he went to talk with the detective.

"Hello, I'm Mei Wolfe. My friend has been through a lot...I know how this works, you're going to question her, aren't you? I and several others have witnessed what that..boy did to her. We will be more than happy to testify against him..whatever you need, we'll cooperate."

"If you don't mind, Detective..." Mel murmured. "If you could hold for a day or two?" she asked, arms crossing. "My daughter's not exactly in a good state to start answering a bunch of questions truthfully." Handsome guy, definitely...Mel liked the look in his eyes, honest. Maybe a little too honest, but that was good in a cop. She had seen a lot of bad ones in her line of work.

Ah, so that was Mei..the head DC now? Sweet girl. But Mel's words brought an easy smile to his face, to lighten the mood just a bit. "Sure. She can come in when she's ready, so long as it's soon. We'll stay in touch." He moved over to Jana, and he gave her his card. "I'm Detective Sharp. Jana, if you need any help, I can get you some help. I understand this happened some time ago, but if you are still hurting from it..there are professionals you can speak to."

"...Thanks," Jana mumbled, taking the card. "...I appreciate it, Mister Sharp." Last thing she wanted to do was talk to a cop, but...she supposed the thought counted anyway.

"Thank you, Detective. We'll handle it from here." Megumi winked at Ceasar, who only raised an eyebrow at that. Women..often flirted with him, but this one was different. Much more elegant than what he was used to.

"Not a problem..." He responded as his partner came back, his sharp eyes looking at Jana. "She's not coming right now, later though..." Ceasar told him.

"...Well she'd better hurry up. Cases like this don't hold up very well...reporting a rape weeks after it happened..there isn't much to go on except words from a bunch of kids." He callously responded, which garnered him an angry glare from both Mei and Justin. Megumi narrowed her eyes at that, but she did not say a word.

"Easy, Hitler," Jana said dryly, hands stuck in her jacket. "You almost sounded compassionate about a young girl being raped and drugged against her will, wouldn't want to break that cool bad boy persona you have, would you?" Sharp and razor accurate, that was her daughter. "Look, you cock. What happened to me, happened. I don't need a fucking report to verify it happened. I still have the rope burn on my arms to show it. If you don't put him in a proper place so he can...get better, or whatever the fuck he needs, you'll be having a kid trying to beat the shit out of you."

"And her angry mother," Mel replied cheerfully. "And I play rough, I like it when my men bruise."

"I don't get to decide who gets found guilty or innocent. I'm just letting you know how often I see these cases thrown out the window." Griffin responded, seemingly unphased by their empty threats. Mei finally realized exactly who this man was.

"Evans..." She mumbled softly. Leonardo's father. That..girls father. She didn't trust him. "I'm sure justice will make sure Blake stays where he belongs...so long as there is no interference." Griffin just smirked at that. Clever little girl..but she couldn't prove shit. No one could.

"We'll see. Looking forward to your testimony, girls." Griffin turned his back on them, and Ceasar sighed. He was always like that...made it hard for anything to get done. But he followed him, and then they were gone. Mei went back to Jana and held her hand. This would be hard, but she'd help her through everything.

Jana spit as Griffin retreat. "Bet he kicks young orphans for fun, that fucking dick." she muttered, her grip on Mei's hand like iron. "Hey, Justin," Jana mumbled. "...You looking for work?"

"Not really, but if you need something from me, I'll do it." Justin told her, speaking for the first time tonight. In truth, he was feeling a slew of emotions he didn't know how to handle, so he just kept his mouth shut the entire time. He would do anything to make Jana feel even the tiniest bit better, however..he wouldn't impose himself on her in any way. She was going through enough already.

"...Then I want you to help Mei," Jana murmured. "Until she doesn't need your help anymore." Mei had a better grasp of the finer details of things, and Justin still had a good ear to the ground...now, he had the confidence to back up his shit talking. Jana could see it in just how he walked. Between the two of them, she was pretty confident they'd dig up something meaty for them to use. "Whatever she asks, I want you to do...for me, please."

Justin was a little surprised at Jana's request, but he only nodded. "Of course. I will do whatever I can to help." He could actually do a lot of things...but he just never thought Mei would want to trust him with anything. And he didn't blame her considering his past.

"Good, because you've already proven yourself to have excellent investigation skills." Mei told him as she held Jana closer to her. "Mom..can we go now?" She wanted to get Jana out of here. Maybe take her all away from this. Her parents house seemed like a good idea.

"Of course.." It had been a while since Mei called her that. Mom. It felt nice.
