Astrid was nervous, it was the time of the Reaping, and this was the 100th Hunger Games, or the 4th Quarter Quell. She hated Quells, the Capitol introduced weirder rules. She had put her name in many times for the Games, that way, if anything happened, her Mom would have extra food and what not to take care of herself. She wondered if this was the year if she would be picked. She wasn't a Career Tribute, even though people tended to think she was, since she was strong and fast and powerful. She had many younger siblings, all too young to be in the Games, except for one. Alexander Brooks, he was 12, her little brother.

Name: Lorin Tempar
Age: 19
District 7
Parents: Ares, Greek God of War, and Nathalie Tempar, a woodcutter who lived all her life in District 7 and was a widow.
Powers: Enhanced Skill with weaponry, Incredibly Strength and Speed as a demigod and as the Son of Ares, Tactical View (as a son of the god of war) and Survival skills as a Woodcutter in his district.
Primary Weapons: One handed Axe and Round Shield

Lorin was standing in line, the time of Reaping has begun and he had enlisted to be picked for the 6th time in a row, he was ready and had trained for this. He wanted to make not only his mother but also his father proud, he knew he was a demigod or something better than the rest of them. He had the strength of two woodcutters and was more agile than one. He had provided his family with enough money to survive, as his father had passed on a young age, he had to take care of his two sisters and his mother. Ofcourse, he had done this by woodcutting as it was one of the most valuable professions in his district. But now maybe this year, it was his time to shine and to make his family proud. Atleast that is what he had hoped. For him it would not matter what they threw at him, he had only to survive and become victorious to maintain his honor towards his family and his district.

Astrid's brothers and sisters were all demigods, like her, all sons and daughters of Neptune. As she was the oldest, she knew it was her duty to work the hardest for the family. She could communicate with the wildlife in the sea, and she could talk to horses, as Neptune was the maker of horses, and well, anything horse related, like zebras, she was sure they were called. She gasped, hearing Alexander's name called. She could not, would not allow him to participate in the Games. She shoved Alexander away, and she shouted,"I am Astrid Brooks, age 16, and I will take my brother's place in the Games! Will anybody contest this?" She loved her family.

Lorin was looking straight at the elector, he knew his two sisters were here. Both 14 year olds had to enlist by force from their mother. It was only common so that they could get more food for winter, and now it seemed that they were there, standing all by themselves in the little-girl-line and were scared helpless. He had closed his eyes and was praying to his father 'Father, if you are up there. I swear to you I will not fail you, I swear.' he was praying and then the verdict fell. "Lorin, Lorin Tempar". Loring stepped up and raised his hands "With honor" he said as he came to the stage and awaited to go to The Hunger Games

Astrid was surrounded by her brothers and sisters and her Mother, begging for her to not go, but she told them she had to do her duty, and she stepped onto the stage. She didn't pray to Neptune, she would only pray when she had to. And she went onto the train. She would not fail her family. She was a Roman, one of the best.

Lorin got onto the train and was at ease, he had a great meal and a great drink and he was not thinking about it at all. He was only getting information from his tutor of how everything worked. He had a girl as his companion from his district, she on the other hand was stressed out and didn't know what to do. At a time, he had heard her cry and had heard her mumble to herself how she wanted to die before it, she didn't want to be hunted down as an animal. Lorin had told her something "You have to value your own life and make yourself proud for your district, fight for them and fight for your family. That is all one can do"

Astrid knew how the Games worked, she was listening to her Tutor. Astrid had an eidetic memory, she never forgot anything. The Tutor told her that everything ran like clockwork in the arena, her Tutor told her that everything had a pattern, that you just had to spot it. She was sad her partner was her childhood friend from her district, this would make loss that much more painful. He, on the other hand was confident, as he was the youngest child, he was 16 like her, and all of his brothers were too old to be in the Games. She knew she and her friend would make a deadly team, even though he wasn't a demigod, he had Sight.

Lorin arrived at the compound, one of the first and he made his way to his room with his tutor and partner. His partner was still stressed out and didn't know how to react to all this tension and change in her life, it was too sudden for her and she didn't know how to handle it. He on the other hand was still as peacefull as he was at the start, he knew he had an ace up his sleeve. He was the son of Ares, He was strong and fast and had a wonderfull swing with his axe, he knew how to fight and how to survive in a forest. Ofcourse this was through his profession, which sometimes made him camp for days on end in the forest.

Astrid made her way to her room alone, as her partner and tutor found their ways to their rooms. Astrid nearly cried when she saw her room, it looked exactly like her room at home, only much fancier. She, like Lorin, had an ace card. She was a demigod. An especially powerful demigod, at that. She was nervous, but if one was not nervous, they were foolish. She would do what she needed to do to win, to survive.

Lorin didn't have time to slack off now, he had to do some more training. He started doing slow push ups to keep his muscles tense and active and started doing jumping jacks and sprinting on one spot to train his physical endurance. He needed to survive this, if not with or without his partner. He wanted to survive and come home as a hero, a person to look up to as someone who survived the Hunger Games.

Astrid decided to take a bath before she started to train, to exercise. Water always soothed her, healed her, no matter the poison or injury. Salt water was best, but any water would do. She relaxed in the hot water, feeling new energy seep into her body as she relaxed. When she was done bathing and cleaning up, she dried off, put some fresh clothes on, and headed to the training roo, where she was waiting for her partner and tutor.

Lorin stood up after his physical training and got dressed into something more sportive. He put on a jumper that was there and moved to the training room and first laid eyes on Astrid. He couldn't keep his eyes of her as he moved past her, on the way to the weapons course, he didn't need his tutor and he didn't need his partner. She was probably crying somewhere in self pitty. He picked an axe out of the shelves and went to the melee trainingdolls where he started to swiftly and skillfull slice and bash upon with something that seemed as if it was a natural flowing of attacks, it seemed as if he had no trouble in combining his different strikes into one fluent motion.

Astrid raised an eyebrow when she watched Lorin, there was something about him that reminded her of herself, though they looked nothing alike. She grabbed a bow and a quiver that was full of arrows, and she nocked an arrow. She didn't feel like waiting for her tutor or her partner any more. She felt like showing off, so she released the arrow, and it went straight into the head of one of the training dolls that Lorin hadn't destroyed. She then found a small ball, picked it up, threw it, and impossibly quickly, nocked another arrow, and released the arrow, the arrow getting into the ball.

Lorin seemed to feel something alike with Astrid, he didn't know what but he felt connected. It was strange as he had never felt something like that. He had never seen another demi-god and that feeling was new for him. Lorin looked at the arrow flying straight into the head of one of the training dolls and he looked at Astrid after. A good marksman, that was going to prove a difficult opponent to just assault on, he had to be carefull with her. And then she showed off her skill with the little ball and he was quite amazed. But he thought to himself 'If a show off presents itself, why not join'. He looked at Astrid and smiled "Can you do something for me?"

Astrid spoke,"Depends on what you want me to do for you, and of course, if I even feel like doing it. But what is it that you want?" She lightly fingered her gold necklace, the charm on it was a trident, the symbol of her father, Neptune. She kept nocking arrows, and releasing them, not at Lorin, but elsewhere, she was making the shape of a trident, again, she was showing off.

Lorin chuckled "Shoot an arrow at me" he said with a smirk on his face "While I stand on the training ground, shoot one at my chest" he said as he looked at her necklace, a trident? He couldn't figure out where it came from but he liked it, it resembled closely to his necklace. He had bought it with most of his savings, a silver necklace with as emblem , a palm leaf collar with a sword in the middle of it, a gladius to be precise. He chuckled as he moved at the middle of the training yard and looked at her "Let's go" he said as he grabbed his axe.

Astrid did precisely the opposite of what he asked her to do. Instead of shooting at him in the chest, she shot at his axe, she was no fool. She knew if she shot at him in the chest, he would probably throw his axe at her, and she realized his district, he had to be from District 7, the district that specialized in lumber, hence the axe. She had another arrow nocked immediately, she did not trust him, for she did not know him.

Lorin grinned as he saw her pull the arrow and then shoot it but it was going at a different direction than his chest. This was no suprise though, archers were cunning people and they would not simply trust anyone. Truth be told, this made things easier as he sidestepped and swung his axe downwards, now what he did was simply cut the arrow in two and caught the tip of the arrow in his other hand, he held it out and smiled "Show offs come in many variables" he said to Astrid as he winked and chuckled and dropped the tip of the arrow, he started to move of the training course. He had enough of training today and went to the showering rooms. There he stripped himself of his clothing and reveiled his muscular, well lined and trained body as he entered a showering booth.

Astrid looked displeased when Lorin managed to destroy the arrow, though it allowed her to make note he wouldn't be an easy target. She of course, continued to train, emptying her quiver, hitting the enter of each target, even with moving targets, and when she was done with the archery, she began to train with blades, swords and daggers and knives. On the way back, she was accosted by one of the Tributes from a District she was unfamiliar with, and she promptly broke the Tribute's arm, and made her way to the showering rooms. She made sure she was alone, and she stripped, revealing her perfect body, the right amount of muscle and curve, and she went into a different showering booth than Lorin. Again, the water revitalized her, gave her energy.

Lorin sighed out of relaxation as the hot water flowed over his muscular body, he had a tattoo on his back a text engraved : 'War is only the beginning, A true battle never ends' it said as he was showering. He started singing an old song from his district, it was in latin and it was about a boy who had lived up to become just as his father. He was relaxing in the shower and singing, he loved to sing and he was frankly quite good at it, except for some minor mistakes in his latin.

Latin came very easily to Astrid, as she was Roman, and the Ancient Romans spoke Latin. Astrid had a tattoo on her back as well, those her was: 'I came, I saw, I conquered'. She smiled when she heard the singing, it sounded very nice. She finally finished her shower, so she rinsed off and dried off, and she dressed in new clothes, leaving the showering room. The other tributes looked scared of her, some had watched how easily she had broken one of the tribute's arm.

Lorin got out a few minutes after her, a towel wrapped around his lower waist as he moved towards the clothing room. Some female tributes looked at him with a slight lust in their eyes but were too frightened to do anything at all. Ofcourse, if you see a man cut a flying arrow in two, who wouldn't be. He dried himself off and then started changing into a fresh pair of boxers and shorts and moved to his room like that. He had no intention of dressing into more clothing as he was going to bed right after so it would be useless.

Astrid was not pleased that the next day would involve 'looking pretty', as she hated stylish things, believing them useless. The only thing she liked was her necklace, and that was it. She knew that there would be chariot rides, then more ceremonies, which really displeased her, she hated parades and the like.

Lorin was woken up by his tutor only to be heard that he had to go on a parade and be held on a chariot to just be strong and handsome for tons of people who just couldn't wait for all of them to slaughter each other. This was making him quite angry that and the fact that they had awoken him. A good night sleep was too much for ask according to them and he got up and grumbled as he got dressed and was taken by his tutor.

Astrid, like Lorin, had been sleeping, and had been woken up. She looked exceptionally angry when told about having to look pretty and the parades... She was swearing very loudly, clearly showing her displeasure as she got dressed, people all over the building could hear her. She was taken by her tutor, still swearing, though she was swearing under her breath. It would not be a problem to have sponsors for her and her partner, District 4 was one of the wealthier districts, and thus, supplies were better and more easy to come by. But she still knew how to play the game, on how to get more sponsors.
