Alex smiled at her and shook his head.

"No, I won't leave you behind. We'll have plenty of time. However, I would like you to get some sleep today. Eventually. So when Asira heads home to rest, so will you."

He said as he smiled and Koda looked a bit confused. However they both ported the females to the woods and while they got ready to go Koda pulled Alex aside and spoke in a different language, one that he forgot Asira had learned.

"Alex, you have to be careful taking a civilian with you. I can tell she wants to go, but the Master already ordered you. Going against it will get you punished."
"I know Koda, but she's not exactly someone I can argue with. She'd go anyways. Besides. I can not and will not force her to stay."
"I just hope you know what you're doing. Asira won't be allowed to heal you this time."

Asira knew what that meant. Alex taking Rowena along would get him whipped. Fifteen lashes to the back by the silver barbed whip the Master used. It was designed to pull flesh from the bone. Alex would be in a lot of pain and be very near bleeding out. However it wouldn't kill him, he'd just be out of the game for a few days. However, Asira wasn't going to tell Rowena this, she had to see why some rules were not meant to be broken in the Order. The whipping was to show Alex the pain he'd feel, on a minor level, if an innocent were killed under his watch.

As Asira and Rowena were walking Asira looked to her sister and held her hand softly.

"Alex is a very good male sister. I hope you can see that...despite what you've been through. Father would approve of Alex. Father actually wanted me to mate Alex. Before I met Koda. In father's final hours, Alex was there for him and never left his side. Alex earned father's respect. Which is why I have come to see vampires in a different light. Rowena knew she needed sleep and so she nods her head to him. There was just so many reasons as to why she had to come along on his talk with that vampire and why she had to continue on this investigation. She needed to see if it would hold up through all of this, mainly if she could hold up through it all. She noticed Koda talking to Alex in a different language and she didn't like them keeping secrets from her. Look what had happened with the last vampire who had done the same. That inner voice kept telling her he would come back to tell her that he didn't really love her and it scared her.

Yet holding her sisters hand felt so very surreal, as if this was nothing but a dream and she would wake up soon to find herself alone again. She was actually surprised to hear that her father had known Alex and that he had been a part of his life. It was even more surprising to hear that her father had wanted Asira to mate with Alex. She had figured her father was no longer with them.

"I know he's different and that really does help but even I can't get rid of that little voice in my head that doubts this will last. I mean look at my history. I am trying, after all I was the one who agreed to give this relationship a go. I'm trying as best as I can. Oh, by the way what where Koda and Alex talking about? I don't like secrets, they never lead to anything good."
 
Asira looked to Koda and Alex's direction then back to her sister and smiled shaking her head.

"In the Order, there are some secrets you have to ignore and get used to sister. Soldier's lives are very secretive. I don't get to know everything that Koda has to go do, some of it he just isn't allowed to tell me even as an Order member. Since you are currently labeled a civilian, you won't get to know anything of our movements and it's illegal to tell you. We'd get punished if we spoke. The reason for that is, we, as the Order, don't know if you can be trusted and they don't want to put the lives of our members on that."

She said as she smiled at her and soon Alex and Koda came walking over as Alex's hand started glowing again. Koda looked nervous by this as did Asira but Alex just smiled and walked over to Rowena giving her a long kiss to her lips and hugging her. When he pulled back he looked at Koda.

"Please stay here with her till I return."

Asira nodded then gripped her sisters hand a bit tighter as Alex ported out and Asira sighed heavily. She then looked at her sister as tears welled.

"You need to make a decision quickly. If you plan on following Alex around and going with him on these missions he's being given, you have to be an Order member, and a soldier, or a combat healer. You may not think it, but him disobeying the Master like he is to allow you to tag along does have repercussions."

She said as she looked at the ground and during the four hours that they waited Koda was tense and a bit less talkative then before. Asira was the one who felt it first, Koda caught the scent. Koda then ported back to the house and felt his stomach churn as he saw Alex laying on a spare bed so not to get his messy. His back looked like someone had tried gutting him backwards. The flesh was ripped and mangled, deep pockets of crimson blood, almost black in color. His spine was visible in some areas as well. Koda sighed as he looked at Alex who just made him promise not to let Rowena see him. Koda nodded and helped to move some things around as well as put a huge white pad on his back, which succeeded in getting his hands and the bottom tails of his shirt soaked in blood.

When he ported back to the females they were at the lake and Koda moved behind a tree and vomited from what they'd done to Alex. Asira just sobbed a bit then sucked it back in and gripped Rowena's hand.

"S-so...where else would you like to see?"
 
Rowena knew that such organizations had rules set forth for reasons that kept them from repeating past mistakes, she understood all of this. She even understood the need to keep relevant information from those deemed civilians, basically anyone not a part of the organization. She understood much more than anyone would believe as she had done her own research on the Order once before. She had even considered joining at one point but stopped as she was scared of meeting up with her ex.

When Alex gave her such a long kiss and hugged her, she knew instantly that something was up and he wasn't going to tell her anything, nor would her sister and Koda. Then seeing Asira's tears seemed to confirm that very bad feeling she had.

"Could you honestly see me working for the Order? You know me better than anyone and yet, you haven't been with me these past centuries. I'm not the same person I was when I fell for that bastards lies. Do you still remember what happened to mother when she was alone in those woods? I do believe I found the answer to how it happened. I dare not say it out loud as it might bring the very thing about. I'm not joining the Order at all. I've seen some of the good is does, it's not good."

She would never be any of those things inside the Order and as much as she cared for Alex and trusted him, she didn't trust the Order he was in. It seemed everyone was hiding something from her and she had already had enough secrets ruin her life once before, not anymore. She waited with her sister and Koda in silence as she didn't want to talk anymore.

Noticing Koda leave and then Asira's quiet sobs, it obviously had to do with Alex and she didn't like secrets. Pulling her hand from her sisters rather forcibly as she stares back into her face rather angrily.

"Where? I want to see Alex and what it is that you two are hiding from me. If you really think I can't handle it, then I might as well just go back home."

She meant it, she had her moments when she was rather hard but it was all thanks to her ex and how he had changed her, many would say not for the better.
 
Koda looked at her and sighed as he walked over to her and touched her temples with his hands. They were cold from the water as he looked at her.

"Alex disobeyed a direct order to keep you out of harms way. In doing so, he was punished for it."

He said as he opened his mind to hers and let her see what he'd seen of Alex. In her mind, she'd see Alex lying face down, his skin pale from blood loss and his back beyond shredded. He looked as if someone had just skinned him with a spoon. Pulling his hands back Koda looked at her and shook his head.

"The Order isn't the best place to be, but for those of us Immortals, it's a nice place to call home, were you can be yourself."

He said as he looked at her and watched as she seemed to be soaking what she'd seen in.
 
Rowena hadn't even gone with him yet, so it was silly for them to punish him already. Just being able to see what they had done to Alex from Koda's mind didn't make her feel sad, instead it actually did the opposite and pissed her off.

Alex linked his mind to Rowena's and his voice was more a grinding pain then soft and sweet like usual.

"I'm sorry for hiding it Rowena...I just didn't want you to worry. However...I am considering leaving the Order. Only reason I stayed was because it was a steady home and they are the main funding for keeping the forest untouched. I think I have enough saved up now though...would you...please just come stay with me?"

He asked as he hissed a bit as he moved so that his back wasn't getting any pressure. He'd started healing already but it was mainly internal that he was healing for now. Later on tonight his skin would eventually start healing. He just wanted Rowena to not be mad at him for trying to do what he felt was the right thing by her.
 
"Didn't want me to worry? Do you even understand why I didn't want you to go alone to talk to that vampire? I was worried you wouldn't come back, that you actually might not want to come back. Even worse, I was scared you would come back to tell me you changed your mind and you didn't want to be with me. I was scared of losing someone I cared about. I've spent so much time not wanting to fall for anyone that it scares me that you have become more to me. I'm scared and you were the one who was punished. How fair is that?"

Rowena didn't want to have to admit all of this to him but she had because it was the truth, she couldn't understand but she wanted to tell him. Then turning to look at Koda again, she sighs.

"Take me to him. I don't care how it looks, he shouldn't be alone."
 
Alex had to admit he hadn't really taken all of that into account and now felt rather foolish because of it. Koda simply nodded and ported her to the room where Alex was. Looking up at her his eyes were clouded in pain, but he wasn't screaming or making any noises other then wincing here and there whenever he tried to move. He knew that him leaving the Order would be a serious blow to the Order since he was one of their strongest soldiers and they'd probably fight to keep him. However he was honestly tired of being treated like a dog and if things didn't change, then he'd leave.

As he saw Rowena come into the room though, he reached over to her and took hold of her hand with his fingers since he couldn't reach very far. Koda told them that they'd be back after he healed and left the two of them alone. Alex simply nodded and buried his face into the pillow as he sighed and focused a lot of his energy on healing.

"I'm sorry I didn't take all of your feelings into account Rowena. I was honestly trying to do this with the best of intentions."
 
Rowena didn't like to see him in pain, she didn't have to look at his back to know why he was in such extreme pain. Especially seen as how Koda had shown her through his eyes what it looked like. She had to figure that it wouldn't be easy for them to let him go, after all he seemed to be very good at his job.

There was no hesitation in letting him hold her hands as she was very light to touch his face with her other hand. The problem now, she would have to watch him heal while she could do nothing. That part was very obvious as her sister would have healed him already if she could have.

"You ended up getting hurt because of me, it's not something that's easy for me to deal with. I would honestly heal you if it was allowed. I'm sure it's not, Asira is a great healer. You don't have to leave the Order just because of me, it should be your choice alone. I don't want you to hate me for making you do anything you didn't want to. Can I at least give you some of my energy to help you heal faster? Or is that against the rules too?"
 
Alex shook his head and smiled at her.

"I'm tired of being treated like a dog. I want things to change, for the better. The Master is the one who promotes change and he's a bit too old school. So it's a little difficult. He has good intentions, just doesn't know how to go about them the right way."

He said as he kissed her hand and took in a shaky breath as she asked if she could heal him with some energy. He looked at her and shook his head, but he did pull her to him and kiss her lips softly.

"Since I'm getting out, I'd like to feed from you, that would be the fastest way for me to heal."

He said as he looked at her and smiled a bit. He'd still try and find this killer, but this was his own goal now, not for the Order.
 
At least he wasn't just doing it for her, Rowena couldn't handle if that was the reason he was leaving the Order, although she had to admit his leaving was something that made her happy. The most she had gotten to know about it, was enough to make her not want to join.

"I'm glad it's not just for me. Although, I am glad you are leaving. I don't see you as a dog and being treated like one isn't your style."

When he told her he couldn't take her energy, she was a bit disappointed. Then his lips touched hers and she felt amazing, he was so very amazing. He did however use a little bit of his own magic, calming her mind and the venom in her body so that she could sleep. When she did manage to sleep he smiled and kissed her cheek then went to sleep with her. The two of them ended up sleeping well into the morning nearing the afternoon.
