It'll be OK.

I think you ought to try and talk to your son. Yes, he's not particularly communicative at this age, but he can understand a lot more than he can say. Punishment of some sort is necessary when he does something wrong (which you did), but you have to try and work with him so he knows what the problem is. I'm hoping you can reassure him and spend some special son time with him as well, but you gotta do what you can do.
