The sight of Fenice's remarkable figure and gorgeous face had brought a very pleased smile to Ne'ebo's face but he had maintained his focus and fought off his attackers. When she had gone and the smell of food had come Ne'ebo ha allowed his students to slowly filter away though Kay, William and several others stayed for some more advanced techniques.
William and Kay left together last of all while Ne'ebo stayed and cleaned up the training area. He was making note of weapons that needed to be replaced when a cloaked figure approached him from behind.
The figure was a tall rangy beast with thin but powerful limbs, flesh pale as snow a satanic tattoo etched on his arm that also bore a wicked two bladed dagger. He raised the blade over his head and opened his mouth when Ne'ebo whirled and crushed the attackers throat then buried the falling knife into the figure's chest. he fell over and Ne'ebo crouched pulling the figure's hood away revealing the deformed and twisted face. He sighed as he studied the face and the guards came rushing in as one had noticed the attack and the resulting counterattack.
Ne'ebo explained what happened several times before Elias arrived. the tattoo is what caught everyone's attention. Ne'ebo did not know the mark at all but Elias did. He took Ne'ebo aside to explain.
"Ne'ebo I do not know how religious you are..." "Just a recent acquisition Your Grace." Elias nodded, "Well you see there are certain groups that wish to bring the Christian faith down. i don't mean the druids and the other spirit worshipers, which i believe would technically include your fellow Samurai." Ne'ebo nodded. "But up here we have the long legend that Joseph of Arimathea brought the Holy Grail here to England. While he was here he made an incredible number of enemies. I do not know if he really brought the Grail but he was an immensely rich and powerful man and left many relics and artifacts as well as a long and healthy bloodline which I have been told include Lancelot and Galahad." Ne'ebo nodded again waiting. "Well anyway some of his enemies included a number of mystics and especially dangerous Druids who believed he was a threat to their powerful. They declared war on him and his family. And I do mean war. Battles, thefts, murders, and every other possible crime were commuted and eventually Joseph appealed to the powers of the time and went after them and hunted his enemies down. They survived by hiding in the darkness and becoming people like that..." he gestured at the dead attackers. "You know by the tattoo."
Ne'ebo nodded walking with Elias getting the rest of the story as they went to dinner. He found Fenice and quickly assured her that he was unharmed and the guard was searching the entire castle then the town around it for any more of the beasts. Ne'ebo watched her face worried.
Ne'ebo went to his place and ate quietly waiting for the answer on whether they should expect more. The report came in soon after informing all that there was no sign of any more of the creatures and for now everyone was safe.
