The days hadn't been quite the same since Mark had died and Carrie knew in her heart that they never would be. After all, how could they? He'd been her rock, her only family since her life had been turned upside down and thrown into utter chaos. She looked down at the dusty ground and her thoughts drifted to five years ago and that fateful day that their vessel had crashed on this godforsaken planet.
Godforsaken... Carrie had to chuckle at that. To think that she and her brother, not to mention her parents, had come in hopes to find a new life. She supposed that in many ways they had. Her parents found a new life in death and her brother, he'd been the victim of an unfortunate accident--bravely defending the godforsaken town on the godforsaken planet, trying to keep her safe--leaving her the only remaining survivor of her family. Though she wondered if her parents were out there still... wandering... finding that second life in 'hell'.
Just then a shiver ran along Carrie's spine and she looked up into the sky. It was getting late in the day and people would soon be holing up in whatever it was they called 'home'. She didn't even know what that was any longer. Where she was now wasn't even close to what she'd had back on Earth. And with Mark gone, things had gotten worse, more frightening. Like it or not, she had to start facing reality that life was forever different and that she needed to make changes if she was going to make it, even in a town like Neuleben. Now she just needed to find a new place to stay since she knew her old place wasn't going to cut it any longer. The memories of Mark were just too strong and she couldn't shake the nightmares and what's more, now that she was alone with no protection, that made her an easy target... and she knew it.
Letting out a sigh, Carrie headed toward the place that she and Mark had called 'home'. As she made her way along the road, she didn't notice the man following her, watching her every step and every move.
Name (Nickname): Tephia Scully (Teph)
Attire: Brown leather and cotton top; short brown leather skirt with suspenders; brown leather arm and thigh bands; brown leather boots; head piece.
Weapon: Knife (though not really usable for defending or fighting--a gift from her twin brother, Tidus).
Location: Inside the walls of Neuleben.
Tagging: Anyone.
Time: September 15, 3585; Late afternoon.
Tephia walked along the dusty path, her hands dropped to her sides. She had to concentrate so as not to let them freely swing, something they seemed to want to do naturally. Damn them! Not wanting to let on about her frustrations, she looked down at her feet, her dark eyes fixed upon the ground. Just then she began to focus upon the knife that was sheathed on her one thigh. The thing wasn't much and hardly a usable weapon, hell the thing had been a gift from Tidus back before...
Just then, Tephia felt herself choking on a sob. Damn it all to hell! No matter how hard she tried, it never got easier. Her heart had literally been torn out of her chest the day she'd lost her twin, losing him to the rancid beasts that resulted from the horrors of that... thing... that vessel their own ship had had the unfortunate luck of crashing into before landing on this seemingly desolate planet they all now found themselves living upon. It was a day she'd never forget, seeing him suffer from the bite wound, dying and then... turning. He'd lunged and scrambled, desperately going after her and those nearest to his person. His mind was gone and all that remained was that of a monster. No more Tidus, just emptiness, just zombie.
Suddenly, Tephia blinked and snapped back to reality when she felt someone knock roughly against her slight body. She let out a tiny grunt and stepped backwards trying her best not to stumble and fall. Her one hand reached up to cradle her arm where she'd been struck, her face contorting as she winced from the minor bit of pain. She looked over at the man who'd walked into her, but he only gave her a nasty look causing her to shrink back in fear. Not wanting any trouble, she kept silent.

Attire: Red satin and lace corset top; black leather boy-shorts; black leather coat; black leather boots; black hat.

Location: Inside the walls of Neuleben.
Tagging: Anyone.
Time: September 15, 3585; Late afternoon.
The day had been long and was slowly drawing towards its end and Lacey couldn't be happier about it. She'd tried to help out a bit with various chores that needed to be done here and there as far as gathering supplies were concerned, but now that all of that was finished up for the day, she was ready to relax. Not that one could truly relax in Neuleben, but as best as one could, she was ready for that. Life had always been rough for her and finding small pleasures here and there were a welcome thing, even if it meant five minutes where she could rest and enjoy a sunset. She was hoping that tonight she might be allowed such a luxury, but it was still a bit too early to tell. But that didn't mean she wouldn't hope and wish. After all, who knew if such things actually helped things along.
Lacey sat down on a bench and just looked up into the sky. The sun was slowly starting to sink lower and lower on the horizon and soon there would be a beautiful sunset. The only downfall to sunsets was that it meant the nasties that lurked would be out in greater numbers. Fortunately, Neuleben's walls were much more secure than they'd been from when they'd first arrived on the planet and they now had people securing the place and guarding things. She was grateful for that to say the least since it helped her to sleep better at night. But she wasn't naive. She knew she still had to learn what she could and play her part.
Just then Lacey noticed a man sit down next to her on the bench, someone she didn't really know or recognize. But it was hard to know everyone in Neuleben. He gave her a once over and smiled. Trying to be polite, she smiled in return, though she felt her insides twist up into knots. The look he gave her was unsettling, one she'd seen before. He then gave her a nod and moved a bit closer to her.
"I see the seat isn't taken," the man replied as he scratched his chin.
"Doesn't mean you can have it," Lacey muttered as she crossed her arms about her middle.
The man's eyes narrowed and he moved closer still. He then placed an arm about her and pulled her close. "Let's get one thing straight, little girl," he whispered harshly against Lacey's ear. "I take what I want, when I want it. And if that means sitting next to you with you on my lap, then that's how it goes."
