Selene smiled, knowing he wouldn't be going anywhere. She had thought about staying in this cave, just the two of them, but decided it was best to head home once the sun was set. She said it like it was an order and returned to her little secret room, shutting the door behind her. Her favorite book was on the bed where she left it, and though she tried to indulge herself in the stories within, she couldn't keep her mind off what it would be like to be human. She wondered what it would be like to have the freedom to be with the one you cared about most. She was so lost and confuse. The boundaries had never been crossed before, and she was scared as to what could happen if anyone found out.
As the sunlight grew into darkness, she retreated from the cave with the few belongings she had brought with her. She had hoped Aiden was following. She wouldn't blame him if he wasn't though. She was feeling rather guilty for attacking him that morning. Normally she had really good control over her animalistic instincts, but this time she couldn't help herself. She vowed never to bite him again. It would be hard, but she had to ignore the urge. She had to protect him. Biting was dangerous, and for some vampires, very intimate. A very strong bond can form with their donors, and she didn't want to risk it. She couldn't risk it. She couldn't risk him. She was determined to fight any humanity in her now, except for the control she had so she didn't turn into a terrible monster.
Upon reaching the house, she didn't even bother to acknowledge Aiden, and she ran into the house. Her family was abuzz about something, but she didn't pay any attention. She ran straight to her room and shut the door. Her tv had still been on from the previous night, lights were still on. Nothing had changed. She stripped out of her clothes and into a new, clean outfit before stepping onto her balcony, where she sat for the rest of the night. The air was cool, the moonlight was bright, crickets could be heard chirping in the distance. It was there, on the balcony, that she ended up falling asleep. In her dreams, she felt like she was being watched. Her eyes would flash open once in a while and scan the horizon, unable to shake the feeling that someone, something, was staring right at her.
