Samuel returned Athena to her carrier, giving her a treat for being good. It was a game he and she played, as she was very frequently a very good cat. As Athena snuggled down and drifted off, he moved to where Alice was with a very curious seeming male first year. He got a good look at him, and part of him was very... intriguing. The younger male seemed to have a defensive demeanor, something that was very frequent in transfers. However it seemed a bit more that he was on edge in a way, something that he himself only got from being around the very upper crust of society. There were those that were hyper-vigilant about being around "the right kind of people", and that usually involved being to focused on being pure-blood. He was going to reserve his perception on that however, as he nodded to him and rejoined Alcie.
"Hello. I am Samuel Anderson, Sixth Year Gryffindor. It's nice to meet you.. Jensen, isn't it? This is Ashley Palin, and she is also a first year. It really is pleasant to meet you."
He only offered his hand if he knew from how Jensen accepted his introduction he would shake it. He had, from years past, come to expect the questions about what family he was from, and fully expected them even when they didn't happen.

Ashley didn't know why, but something about Jensen bothered her a bit. It wasn't just about his clothing, as people did dress that way often. It was something about his manner. She was frequently called empathetic at her school in Salem, and she frequently was able to be there for others who needed a shoulder. She also, from time to time, had help steer other girls away from boys who had "reputations" that they had earned for themselves. The feeling she was getting from Jensen, however, made her very uneasy. There was just something, and she had learned well to hide what she felt from appearing on her face, but she made it a point to tell Alice and Samuel... and something in her told her she should tell Professor Magnus as well. She had heard him talk at her school a few years ago about what had happened to his girlfriend, a touching and honest thing. She just could see that something would need to be said about him to others.
