The Devil's Luck (hornybitch)

Her eyes widened and flashed a mixture of different colours as her emotions flooded through her, Shock, fear, surprise, understanding, regret, sadness, suspicion, then back to anger.
She slapped the piece of mirror from his hand and got up going to her locker and getting dressed quickly her rage building her eyes becoming a blood red. her body even started emitting a heat as she slammed her locker shut and walked out of the locker rooms. Without glancing back she left the college and walked.

Aegus had a feeling Alex would react like that. He'd been ready for it. As Alex left the campus, Aegus stood waiting for her again, leaning back against a nearby wall. He grinned over at Alex as she passed him, obviously trying to ignore him. "You can't hide from who you are..." He appeared again later down, sitting on an empty bench, licking his lips at her. "You can't hide what you are..." He then appeared later on again, standing directly in her path. "And you can't hide from me..."

She looked at him and said "What do you want from me? If you just wanted to tear my life apart congratulations you have succeeded now go away!!"
Alexandria tried to push past him but he was not going to let her go by easily

"No..." He said, taking her wrists gently, holding them up in an almost romantic way. "... I want to protect you, Alex..." He whispered, a soft look on his face, though his demonic mischievousness showed in his eyes. "I can protect you from all of the bad things that want to hurt you..."

She looked at him suspiciously, trying to figure him out.
"How do I know I can trust you? How do I know you're not really the exact same as all of them? And that you're not just trying to trick me?" She asked seriously but she didn't pull away. Something in his expression made her stay. She wasn't sure what it was but she was starting to trust him

Aegus smirked a bit, chuckling down at her. "You saw what I did to that beast who attacked you earlier... If I wanted to, I could easily do the same to you, Nicole... As you are, my powers are far superior to yours... You would be helpless to me if I truly wished to be like the others... but I don't... You can trust me..."

Aegus grinned. "But... there is a catch to my protection..." he told her, curling his finger and thumb around her chin. "In exchange... Once you graduate from college, when you're considered a true adult, you must agree to be my bride..."

Aegus grinned down at Alex, slowly licking his lips as he examined her. "For one... a demon of my caliber deserves only the most beautiful bride at his side... and besides that, I know you'll be of great use to me... So... What do you say?..." He asked, pulling her closer to him. "Your life is safe... and in exchange, you marry me..."

Alex couldn't believe this. Her eyes went back to the blood red anger as she pushed him off
"I was right you are just like everyone and...and everyTHING else. You don't like ME you like how USEFUL I'll be'' she hissed with disgust rage and even a bit of hurt.
She stared at him her anger turning to despair her eyes turning a very troubling deep ocean blue like a stormy blue. A tear slipped down one cheek as she said ''Just leave me alone Aegus''
She sounded so hurt as she said this then pushed passed him looking completely defeated as she walked away.
Alexandria couldn't believe how much she had actually fallen for him only to find out he wanted her because she'd be 'of great use' to him.

Aegus suddenly grabbed her from behind, stopping her from leaving. He pulled her close, his arms enveloping her in a tight, somehow warm embrace. "... Being a Demon, I forget that Humans can so easily misunderstand intentions..." He said, looking down at her. "While it is true, I did originally intend to force you into marriage... and I still do... but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the thought of being joined in marriage to such a beautiful, lively woman..." He said, his eyes softening a bit. "Human concepts such as love were never taught to my kind during childhood... But... Perhaps through this... You could teach me?..." Despite his cold demeanor, Aegus had always wondered what it would feel like to allow his blackened heart to feel 'love'. Perhaps his time with Alex would help him learn and understand it. Just because he wished to use Alex to become king of the demon plane... didn't mean he wanted her to be unhappy and unappreciated.

Alex gasped when he grabbed her but instead of struggling she stood listening filling with rage and hurt and pain at what he was saying. To her it all sounded lie a trick. Like he was backpedalling because he screwed up and said too much.
By the time he had finished his speech her rage had become a burning heat that pulsed from her body.
She hissed ''let me go Aegus. If you really want to learn about love then you'll have to learn on your own and I'll give you one tip. NEVER FORCE ANYTHING!!!"
As she said these last words her rage had reached its peak and the words were carbed into Aegus' right arm, the arm which was closest to her heart while he embraced her. However now she was literally too hot to handle. He would have to let go soon or he would start burning.

Aegus growled and winced at the heat emitting from Alex. He let her go, obviously upset at what was happening. "I don't understand you!... i'm trying to help you, so why can't you help me!?... You don't understand, I NEED you to agree to this!... If you don't then they'll all be dea-" He stopped himself. He wasn't supposed to reveal Demon World affairs to humans, even if Alex was half demon herself. He growled and glanced away. "Fine... Have it your way....."

Alex looked at him surprised that he cut himself off and by his sudden loss of his cool act.
She glared at him and said "You know where to find me when you decide to stop being an over ruling bastard"
With that she left not looking back once incase she got sucked into his gaze again

Aegus watched Alex walk away from him, his fists lightly clenched together. He could do it... He could devour her right now and take his place as king... he could save them all... but... He sighed softly and shook his head. He couldn't... He wasn't some low-life beast... he was better than that... he needed to win her over...

Alex began running the minute she was out of his sight.
She couldn't help it. She always ran when she was hurt or afraid or both and right now it was definitely both.
Once she reached home she went straight to her room and ran on her treadmill for hours. She refused to leave her room for anything. She didn't go to dinner and she told anyone who came near her door to leave.
The entire manor were getting very worried.

As night began to roll in, something could be heard at Alex's window. Something was scratching at it, as if asking for entrance. However, the light scratching was replaced with a low growl as something suddenly burst through the window. The beast growled and suddenly tackled Alex down, glaring down at her with it's glowing red eyes. It's fangs were bared and a few drops of saliva fell from it's jaws. "Princess....." A low voice said from it.

Alexandria screamed a piercing scream that could be heard across town.
Her body began heating up in automatic defence. She was terrified but now that she knew what was happening she knew she was to defend herself. Though as she hadn't known very long about her demonic blood she was not very good at defending herself at all.

The beast roared as it moved down, ready to bite into her flesh, but suddenly stopped. It's body began to turn to ice before it shattered, Aegus standing a few feet away from Nicole as she lay on the floor.

Alex looked at him her heart pounding in her chest fear clear on on her face and very clear in her eyes. Her hands trembled as she shoved the dead beast off of her and she moved away towards the side of her bed where she rested her head back against the soft mattress and pulled her knees up beneath her chin and tried to stop her body from trembling

Aegus slowly moved to Alex's side, allowing his arms to gently curl around her in an oddly comforting fashion. He closed his eyes, simply holding her, trying to help her calm down.

She trembled but didn't pull away instead she felt her body lean against his as she trembled unable to even speak unable to move unable to thank him as she trembled in silence

Aegus slowly allowed his eyes to close as he sighed gently. "... Despite what I said, I couldn't stay away..." He muttered to her. "I was worried..."

Alexandria looked away her trembling beginning to stop as she whispered ''worried someone would damage something that was ''of great use'' to you?'' her voice was barely able to be heard but the hurt and suffering and betrayal was so clear in her voice that even a stupid human would have realised she felt lost and betrayed by Aegus.
A single tear rolled down her cheek in full view of Aegus even though she was clearly trying not to let him see her pain from what he had said to her that night on the street.
