Kei had long since stopped fighting them, her battered form bitten and torn in a score of locations, some bleeding more freely than others. Even through the intense, searing pain she thought she felt this huge, terrifying demonic aura only a short distance away. She doubted herself, however, as she slipped in and out of consciousness, wondering if she was merely hallucinating while the hunters enjoyed her flesh... The pain had begun to subside, but she assumed it was just a simple mercy that they had broken her spine or the like. If she remained in this state for too long, she would be unable to recover and perish from her wounds.
As Cyrus stood defiantly before the cowering hunters, however, one of the hunters from the midst of the back felt the explosion of power and stepped forward. It was far larger than the others, and while it still had a somewhat wolf-like appearance at first, it slowly morphed into something much more terrifying. Its body grew even larger, the thick fur on its back turning into thick armor plates. Its head enlarged and resembled that of a huge bear rather than a wolf, the eyes piercing and intense. Its legs were as thick as pillars, and its body was thick and heavy like that of a giant male grizzly. The alpha hunter bellowed its challenge to Cyrus, rearing back up onto its hind legs as its foot-long claws protruded from its front paws. Without pause it rushed toward him, snarling and roaring at him as it rushed in to engage him in hand-to-hand combat.
