To the Highest Bidder Goes the Prize (Chuckeles/butterfly040

Kiana jumps a little at the sound. She looks to him, but does not wake him. She instead does to grab a knife. Placing it within the folds of her skirt before the picks up the bad, crib and all and moves her to the far side of the bed on the floor to keep her protected. Only then does she do to the door and call through the locked door, "Who is it?"

Lund sleeps through all of her movements in the room. The only sound coming from him is a soft snoring sound. From the other side of the door a soft woman's voice sniffles before answering. "I am here with a message for lord lund. If not him then to his wife." Her voice is full of fear as she waits on the other side of the door.

Something did not seem right about the ton of the maids voice. "Slip the message under the door..." she told the maid as she reached into her skirts and grasped the handle of the dagger.

"I...I was told to deliver the message into your hands my lady. He will beat me if I don't." She sniffles again with barely restrained tears. "I think he wants to meet with you my lady. A flag of truce he said. And one last offer."

She knew what his offer was going to be. Glancing at her husband in the bed.... this time she knew she had to take it. "One moment..." she said as she walked to the table and wrote a quick note for her husband. A precautionary measure and placed it in the crib with the baby where she knew he'd find it the moment the baby started to cry. Kissing Sarah's forehead, she returned to the door. One hand on the dagger in her hand, the other unlocking the door and opening it just a crack to let the maid slip in the note.

The maid bows slightly as she quickly hands the note to Kiana. "Please don't punish me m'lady. I had to follow his orders." The note is written in Jaks hand requesting her presence in the solarium. He ask for her to come alone since he will be alone as well. The maid quickly bows again darting away down the hallway.

Glancing back as Lund sleeping in the bed, she has to at least hear him out. She makes sure her husband is all settled, kissing his cheek and whispers once more her love for him before she slips from the room, dagger still in her skirts as she makes her way to the meeting place as he demanded.

((Got to head out for a few hours. Be back later tonight.))

Jak is standing with his back to the entrance of the solarium. He sips at a cup a wine a small table set to the wide with another glass and a bottle of wine waiting on her. He turns hearing her foot steps a wide grin spreading across his face. "I'm glad to see you came Kiana. How did you get away from my brother so easily?"

"My husband is resting as a good warrior does the night before battle," eying the wine, she shakes her head, "Thank you for the wine but I must re-frame for the baby's milk. Why have you asked me here Jak? Speak your peace to me."

Jak smiles as he moves to her refilling his own cup in the process. "I was worried you wouldn't come Kiana. As for what I want well I've had a chance to rethink my proposal to you." He steps to her lifting his hand to run it across her cheek. "What is your husbands life worth to you?" He tilts his head studying her face.

She was able to keep still as he touched her face, even though his touch made her skin crawl. "My husband is everything to me but I will do nothing I know he would not wish me to. Nothing to dishonor him, nothing to make him ashamed of me. He would not want me to."

"I'm only asking you to give me a simple gift. In return I'll spare my brothers life." He keeps caressing her face gently as he moves to slip an arm around her waist pulling her close. "I promise you won't be marked. The only way he will know is if you tell him." He leans in almost touching his lips to hers.

"What good is your word in this matter?" she hissed at him, not showing any signs of fearing him this time. "You have gone back on your word many times. Why is this time any different then those times? You word have meant nothing but air in the past. I will not accept empty spouts of air from your arrogant lips when it is my husbands life in the balance."

Jak smiles as he keeps caressing her cheek. "What would you take as a binding between us then? I'll put it into writing and Put my seal to it if you want." He traces his thumb along her lips slowly. "I can see the strength in your eyes. I can tell why my brother loved you even if it has made him weak."

She nodded, "Yes... hand written, with your seal... AND delivered to your fathers hand before I grant you my body. With the clause that if you go back upon your word... you give up your own claims to the titles and the lands and leave this place. Your return punishable by death." Kiana did not realize she could be to vindictive.

Jak nods softly as he turns to the table pulling out a piece of paper. He quickly writes out the terms of their contract along with her stipulations she ha asked for. Once he had it all written out he turns the paper towards her. "Woul you read over this make sure it's all to your liking Kiana?" He steps back preparing the wax to seal the letter shut.

She takes the page from him and reads over it.... unable to believe she is actually going to do this. She is about to tell him yes but hesitates again, "Wait.... before I agree to this, I want to know what it is you want from me. Exactly what you expect for these terms to be met and this agreement to be fulfilled."

"What I want is you for the night and I want you as though we were married and it was our wedding night. If you fulfill this and I want you to enjoy it then when I win tomorrow I will let your husband live." He spreads his hands out smiling at her. "Does that met with your demands Kiana?"

"Almost..." she holds the paper to him again, "No one ever learns of this night, ever. If you ever speak of it to anyone or if you tell Lund, the same provisions as the rest of the written agreement. Oh... and you can't expect me to enjoy sex with a snake like you."

Jak nods softly as he smiles at her. "Of course Kiana. And why I dont exPect you to enjoy it. You also aren't going to surpress yourself. Is that understood." He smiles as he presents her with a pen. "Sign your name first then I'll sign and press my seal to it." His hand picks up the wine glass drinking from it slowly.

Kiana held the pen in her hand, it seemed to shake in her grasp as she had the pen just resting on the paper yet not really moving against the page yet. Was this right? Was this turning against her husband and not being confident in him? Was it betrayal against him? Could she honestly bring herself to do this? Could she live with herself afterward? She hesitated to sign...

((You are KILLING ME! I am so torn on if I should or shouldn't! You are EVIL!))

Jak leans back in a small chair sipping his wine slowly. "Just need your signature on the paper. Then everything will be alright." He stands moving up behind her slowly. His arms move around her waist slowly as he presses into her. He pulls her hair back nibbling on her ear and neck as he watches her hand.

((I know I am. I'm sure you will find a way to get me back.))

Jak smiles almost laughing as he quickly moves to sign and seal the paper. "Would you like to take care of this here or in my quarters where a bed is." He holds the letter up gently as he waits for the wax seal to dry before pushing it to the side. "Im willing to let you chose since you've been so easy to get along with."

----
Lund groans as he begins to stir hearing Sarah begin to cry softly in her crib. Without lifting his head he whispers Kiana's name. His hand reaches out to touch the side of the bed she should be on. He blinks not feeling her next to him. He groans as he gets up whispering Sarahs name. He notices the note lifting it up to read.

The note was quickly scribbled out, 'If I am not back by morning, it was Jak. He asked me to meet him peacefully. I don't know if he meant it thought...'

-----

"The signed papers go to your father first," she reminded him. "After that I care less what you do as long as you get it over with."
