The Day Before You (closed for MoonlightRomance and Josu_T)

"I don't mind giving the love of my life the advantage." She said, leaning in and kissing him in the lips before going back to work in setting it up. When his next sentence registered with her she gave him an odd look. "Babe, we were snowed in for what, close to a week, maybe a little more? Now, correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure I didn't wander from your side except to change clothes and things of that sorts, so how have I been practicing?" She asked in a joking tone, unable to keep from laughing at his words. When they were finished she took a seat on the bed and grabbed a controller, turning the system on. "Now, you know that you can sit up here with me, right? After all, I don't bite or scratch unless provoked." She said. Of course, that was a lie.

Tim shook his head and smiled as the game started up and the title screen came on. "I mean before that. There was plenty of time for you to practice since the last time we played. As for sitting, it is comfortable down here. I've got something to lean against. You can sit there with no support, that's fine. It will just tire you out and make it easier to win over and over. Just don't kick my head, that's cheating. Plus, I don't trust sitting next to you. You may not bite or scratch, but you could try other tactics to distract me. Things you aren't afraid to do now that we're together." He grinned and glanced back at her. "Now are you ready to lose?" He quickly picked a game mode and got it set up.

"Have I played games since we last played one together? Yeah, but I've never played one just to practice so that I could kick your ass in it." She said, moving back on the bed so that her back rested against the wall. At first it made her wince as it applied pressure on her injuries but once she was situated in a comfortable position it didn't hurt. "I'm not going to kick you in the head, I promise." She said from where she now sat, unable to keep from laughing at his next comment. "Oh yes, I'm a woman and I'm going to try and seduce you to beat you at video games. " She said as she rolled her eyes, unable to keep herself laughing long enough to really speak. A few moments later when she calmed down she spoke again. "Just because I can scratch and bite and seduce you to win because I'm no longer afraid to do it, doesn't mean I will, even if you choose to sit by me." She said, watching the screen as he set up the game. "If you're ready to lose then I am." She added as a response to his question.

Tim just smiled and started the game. He was comfortable where he was. Once they started playing the banter mostly stopped. He focused on playing and having fun with her. He did throw out the occasional tease as they continued to compete. After trading wins in the first game for a while he switched to a second game. They got into it quickly and he tried his hardest. He was able to string together a couple of wins in a row and glanced back at her. "Come on now. You're not letting me win, are you? This is too easy. Maybe I should go easier on you." He grinned and waited for what he was sure would be a good response from her. As he did he got the game going again.

Roxanne wasn't shocked when in the first game they kept trading wins, after all they were both pretty damn good at racing games. When he switched to the fighting game he had picked out of her collection Roxanne could tell he was trying his hardest and when he glanced back at her after managing to win a few matches she stuck her tongue out at him playfully. "You don't need to go easier on me because I am just letting you win." She said and as the game go going again she managed to win one match. "See, told you I'm not just going easy on you, maybe your just scared to lose?" Roxy suggested.

Tim smiled and shook his head. "Nah, I let you have that one." He picked another match and got it started. She won it by a narrow margin. They went back and forth, both winning some matches. It often came down to choice of character. After a while it didn't seem like either of them would really gain the upper hand. It was time for a different game. Tim made the choice of a game they could play together in cooperative mode. He put it in, got it started, and then climbed up into the bed to sit next to her. He kissed her cheek and settled in, ready to play.

Roxy often rolled her eyes at his comments as they went through many matches. She noticed as they played it often came down to the character they each picked and if it fit with their playing style. When he put in Uncharted 2 Roxy smiled, watching him as he moved up to sit next to to her. "Oh, not afraid to come sit next to me now that we're on the same team, huh?" She asked in a teasing tone, her smile as he kissed her cheek before settling in showed she was joking. "I'm ready to kick some ass when you are, love." she said, leaning over and kissing him before pulling back.

Tim chuckled and just got the game started. It didn't take long to get into it. They worked really well together as a team and started to progress rapidly. He smiled and glanced over at her whenever he had a chance. He still joked with her, claiming he was doing all the hard work and that he was the reason they were doing so well. He knew it was really because they made a great team. After a while his stomach growled. It was well past noon and he realised they should get lunch soon. They eventually reached a good spot to stop for a while and he paused the game. He leaned over and kissed her cheek. "Let's go get something to eat. We can play more in a little while."

Each time Tim joked with his claim that they were doing so well because he was doing all the hard work Roxanne rolled her eyes at him as she playfully threatened to stop playing the game with him. After all, he wouldn't be able to accomplish much without her helping. About the time she could hear his stomach growling she was beginning to grow hungry too and her pain killer was beginning to wear off. As he paused the game once they reached a decent spot she looked at the clock. "Have we really been playing that long?" She asked, smiling at he leaned over and kissed her cheek. "What would you like for lunch?" She asked, reaching over and taking his hand after putting the controller down.

Tim smiled and just got up. He took her hand and went with her out of the room and down the stairs to the kitchen. Once there he looked through their options and decided sandwiches were the easiest thing to make. A few minutes later they had their lunch ready and on the table. He sat with her and ate. He wondered if she would want to continue playing games after lunch or if she would want to do something else. He just wanted to spend time with her. He wanted to have the chance to avoid thinking of all that had happened over the past couple of days. He wanted to make sure she relaxed and simply had a good time, whatever that meant.

Roxanne followed as he took her hand and lead out out of the room and down stairs to the kitchen. When they decided on sandwiches she got to work helping him, not allowing him to even so much as insist that he make her lunch for her. When they had their food prepared and sat down to eat, siting next to each other she looked over at him. "Tim, I love you." She said before leaning over and kissing him on the cheek.

Tim just smiled at her and ate his lunch. When he finished the meal he waited for her to finish as well. Once they were both done he took her hand and went with her back upstairs. They got back into her room and he took a seat on her bed. "Let's play a little longer and then maybe we can do something else. We'll beat the next section and then turn it off for the day." He kissed her cheek and got settled with the controller again.

When Tim smiled at her, she smiled back before beginning to eat her lunch. It was no surprise to her when he finished his food first, he always seemed to eat faster than her. Several minutes after him when she was finished she didn't protest when he took her hand and lead her up the stairs and back into her room. As he took a seat on the bed, Roxanne sat beside him and leaned back against the wall, getting comfortable as she picked up the controller. She nodded at his words. "Sounds good to me." She said with a smile as he kissed her cheek. They could worry about what to do next when they were done.

Tim got back into the game right away. They played for a while longer and really did well. The better they did the longer it made him want to play. They ended up going until they had beaten the game just because neither of them had suggested stopping. When they reached the end he smiled. "We did it. That was great baby. But now what should we do?" Before she could answer he leaned in and kissed her happily. When he pulled back he just looked at her and gently tossed the controller aside. They had played enough games for one day. It was time to do something else. Something that didn't involve looking at a screen. The problem was that he was too nervous to go outside.

When the game was finished she smiled. "We really do work good as a team." She said before kissing him back. When he pulled back she sat the controller on the bed beside her. "Well, right now I think it's time for another pain killer." Roxanne said with a sigh, her ribs had began to really hurt about an hour ago as the last dose fully wore off but she hadn't said anything because they had both been enjoying the game. "After that we could go play in the snow for a bit." She said, half expecting him to look at her as if she were insane or to flat at refuse to allow her to go out in it. Roxy didn't even bother mentioning their last time playing in the snow because she would rather forget what had happened.

Tim looked at her and nodded when she mentioned needing another painkiller. Then came the idea about the snow. He wasn't sure about that. He thought about it and then shrugged. "Sure, it is warmer out there and the snow isn't very high now. Just please don't stand in one spot for a long time. Move around, keep warm. But let's go get your painkiller now and then we can go out." He kissed her cheek and got up off the bed. He quickly turned off the console and tv and then went downstairs. He got her a glass of water and her pill bottle and brought them back upstairs for her. After she had taken one he started getting dressed to go outside.

Roxanne found herself surprised when he agreed to her suggestion. She smiled as he kissed her cheek before watching him get up, keeping her eyes on him as he turned off the console and television and left the room. When he returned with her pills and a glass of water she kissed him. "Thanks." She said, before taking one. "You know, we've played out in the snow dozens of times before and the thing that happened last time only happened once." She said as she stood from the bed and began to dress herself in layers.

Tim nodded, hoping she was right. It shouldn't have happened even once. When they were dressed warmly he went downstairs and to the back door. They couldn't go out the front in case the house was being watched. The backyard snow level was lower, but there was still plenty of it for them to have fun with. He stepped out and waited for Roxy to join him. He smiled at her and thought of what to do. "So, snowball fight? Snowman? Or maybe create something else with the snow? What do you feel like doing? And remember, I'd beat you if you try to take me on with a snowball fight."

As he went down the stairs she followed and went on to follow him out the sliding glass door at the back of the house, closing it behind her. "Babe, I know better than to take you on in a snowball fight. I don't know about a snowman but I do want to create something with the snow. Any ideas, my love?" Roxanne asked, wanting to do something that most people wouldn't think of. As she waited for an answer she moved a bit closer to him and took his glove covered hand in her's.

Tim thought about it and looked at what they had in the way of snow. They could try building something. Eventually he shrugged. "Let's just start working and see what it ends up like. Maybe as we go one of us will have a good idea and we can take it from there. You know I'm not all that creative when it comes to things like this." He gave her hand a gentle squeeze and then got started making a pile of snow they could use to create something. He hoped she had a good idea, because he was quite certain he wouldn't be able to think of anything. He looked at her, wondering if she had any suggestions or if she saw anything in the pile that could act as inspiration.

Roxanne nodded, not really having expected him to have any ideas. After all, between the two of them Roxy had always been the creative one. As Tim gave her hand a gentle squeeze she smiled before going to work in helping him pile snow together. As they gathered snow in a pile she got an idea. "What if we try to make a snow dog?" She asked him when he paused to look at her. "I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard if we pack the snow together tight enough."

When Roxy suggested making a dog out of the snow he looked at the pile and then shrugged. It seemed possible. "Sure, let's give it a shot and see if we can get it done." He smiled at her and then got to work. When they had enough snow it was time to work it into a proper shape. He started packing it down tight until they had a good solid mound of snow ready for them to sculpt. When he started trying to carve out parts of it he found it difficult because of his gloves. Rather than take a glove off he dug in the snow under a tree and got a couple of sticks. He used one to start scupting more effectively.

Roxanne smiled when he agreed to her idea after looking over at the pile of snow and shrugging. When they had enough snow piled together Roxanne began to help Tim begin to pack it together. When the time then came to begin exulting it she found it hard to form it right with her gloves on. She watched as Tim moved under the nearest tree with a confused gaze and was about to just remove one glove when he came away from the tree with two sticks in hand; one for each of them. When one was offered to her she gladly took it and began to go to work making the paws. "Hey babe, pick a breed of dog." She said, pausing for a minute to look over at him.

Tim smiled as Roxy started using the stick he gave her. When she asked him to pick a breed he looked at her with confusion and shrugged. "I don't really know much about breeds and what they look like. You're the one who wanted to make a dog, you pick. I'll just do what you need me to do to make it." He let her pick and just got to work. It ended up easier making the dog laying down because the snow wasn't strong enough to have it standing. Over time it slowly came together and started to look more and more like a dog. Tim made sure to do exactly what roxy wanted him to do to make it look right.

When Tim left what kind of dog the two would make up to her she paused to think for a moment. "Let's make a Labrador Retriever. They are smooth coated dogs and are of medium size so it isn't something that will be hard for us to make." She said before going to work with him, after getting the front paws down she went to work on legs, then the chest before making her way up to the head. "Did you want to work on the back end, while I do the front?" She asked him.
