The Day Before You (closed for MoonlightRomance and Josu_T)

Tim watched as his girlfriend read the messages that had been sent. She didn't seem shocked by it at all. Then came the voicemails. The first one was what he expected from him. It was how he had acted with her in public all the time for as long as he could remember. Then came the second one. Tim had expected an emotional outburst, but not quite on that level. Tim was listening carefully and didn't let the threats get to him. By the end of it he actually had a smile on his face. That quickly faded as he saw the look on Roxy's face.

He moved close and wrapped his arms around her. He kissed her cheek and then spoke softly in her ear. "There is no need to worry. We will all look out for eachother. I have a feeling he may be keeping an eye on us so it might not be a good idea to leave. I also think there is no way we are going to tell them in person any more. I know you wanted to, but it is too dangerous. We are going to call the police and they are going to come here. Your father made one major mistake. He left that message on your phone. A message in which he stated his intention to commit murder and his intention to abuse you. That should be more than enough to get him in prison. The texts will help our case and then your medical records will be what makes sure he doesn't get out for a long time. And that way your mother will be safe too. If you don't want to do all of that then we can at least use it all to get restraining orders on him for the whole family. He might not follow them, but if he tries something then he will have to deal with even more consequences. He should have kept his temper when leaving messages. If he was smart he would have only spoken that way to you with you directly on the line with him. Now we have something solid to use against him. This is good."

As Tim moved in close and wrapped his arms around her Roxanne struggled against him at first, even as he kissed her cheek and then began to speak into her ear; almost like a dog that didn't want to be held. As he spoke though she slowly calmed down and after a few sentences was no longer struggling, even beginning to slowly relax in his arms as bit on her lip as an attempt to keep herself from crying. By the time Tim was done talking Roxy found herself surprised: not only did she not find herself pissed off that he was no longer allowing her to confront her parents in person but he was leaving it up to her if she wanted to use what evidence they now had to put her Father in jail. It took her a moment to take in all of what he had said before replying.

"No, I want to use this, all of it to not only get restraining orders to protect all of us. I guarantee he has someone watching this house right now, too. My Mom and I both are guilty of allowing this to go on for so long and now that I realize the life I have to live for, I'm putting a stop to it. I'm fine with notifying the police and having my Mom and Dad come here and having the police here when I tell them I'm out of that damn house for good but I do need to tell them. My Mom won't be safe from him though, even when he's behind bars. She is his puppet and has been for years; seriously as much help as he needs my Mom needs more to see that he doesn't love her." She said and when she was finished looked over at Tim, all she wanted right now was to stay in his arms all day. "Babe... We need to tell Mom and Dad... They need to know exactly what's going on."

Tim continued holding her, wanting to comfort her and help her relax more. When she responded he was quite happy with what she had decided she wanted to do. He still thought she was a little crazy for wanting to tell her parents in person, but it was her choice. As long as they had protection before he arrived. He nodded and kissed her before slowly and reluctantly pulling away. He got off the bed and quickly got dressed. He then handed Roxy her clothes. He chuckled as he thought of something. "If we are going to be sleeping in the same bed we should probably have some clothes for each of us in both rooms. Otherwise mom and dad will know for sure." He took her hand and helped her out of the bed. When she was dressed he pulled her close, kissed her, and then went with her to the door.

saidaids he let go of her she sighed, not wanting to leave the safety of his arms. Roxy watched as he stood from the bed and got dressed. "You know, you could dress a bit slower when your girlfriend is checking you out." She teased as he handed her her clothes. "Thank you, love." Roxanne said, leaning in and kissing him after he helped her up. She then quickly dressed, slowing down her pace a bit when she noticed Tim watching her. A few minutes later when she was dressed she smiled as he pulled her close and kissed her, Roxy kissing him back. "yeah, having some of each others clothes in each room is a good idea but I would be willing to bet they already know." She said, happily following him to the door.

Tim laughed and shrugged. "Maybe they do, but it would still be better not to make it obvious all the time." He took her hand and they left his bedroom together. He made sure they had her phone so they could show the text messages and voicemails to his parents. They went downstairs and both of them were in the kitchen. His mother set down breakfast for Tim and Roxy a moment later. Tim thanked her and then paused. After a few seconds he told them about the messages. Then he looked at Roxanne and let her take it from there by actually showing them. He had a feeling his dad would see the messages the same way he had seen them. As something good that they could use.

Roxanne nodded in agreement with him, while his parents probably knew that they were sleeping in the same bed it would be best not to make it obvious to them at every given moment. As he took her hand and they left his bedroom together Roxy grabbed her phone on the way out, sticking it in her pocket. As they walked down the stairs Roxy began to look around, seeming nervous about telling his parents about her Father's threats. When the two of them reached the bottom of the stairs she could not only smell food being cooked but could hear the two of them talking. As they to walked into the kitchen she thanked Tim's Mom as well when she sat a plate of food down for each of them.A few seconds later when Tim told them about the messages before looking over at him she pulled her phone out and put the speaker phone, she then tapped to play all messages and sat it on the table. As the one of him acting as the loving Father played she watched his parents' faces, continuing to watch as the much more violent one played. Just hearing her Father's voice, though, sent chills through her.

Tim listened again. The second time he was able to focus even more. There really was plenty of evidence in the messages to use against her father. When the messages were finished he had the expected reactions from his parents. His mother was a little shocked by the level that Roxy's dad had taken it to and his father was determined to use it. Within a minute he had the phone in hand and was dialing the police station. Tim smiled. He continued to eat his meal and finished quickly. When he was done he went and got Roxy's pills and brought them to her. He wanted to help her as much as he possibly could.

The second time she listened to the message it seemed to cause her even more anxiety and upset her even more. She expected the way his parents reacted to it, although was a bit surprised that his Father within moments of the messages ending he had the phone in hand and was dialing the police station. She picked up her phone and slipped it back into her pocket before starting to eat, slowly eating in small bites. "Thanks, babe." She said, looking up from her plate when he brought her pills to her and sat them beside her. Quite obviously she was a bundle of nerves.

Tim sat close to her to do his best to comfort her more. He placed his hand on her back and rubbed gently. A minute later his father was off the phone with the police. They were going to send a detective to the house to talk with them and learn all they could. He would also show up in plain clothes so they wouldn't guarantee to Roxy's father that she was there. Not revealing her location was their biggest advantage for protection. Until he was behind bars they really couldn't know what he might try to do. When they did leave they would need to do it carefully and never alone. It would make things a little complicated, but it was what they had to do. Tim looked at Roxanne again. "Do you know the phone number for your doctor so we can get the medical records to the police?"

Roxanne watched as Tim sat close to her. She had stopped eating what little was left on her plate at this point, her stomach cramping as a result of her nerves from simply hearing the way her Father had talked to her. When Tim first placed his hand on her back she jumped but as he began to rub it gently she began to gradually relax under his touch. As his Father got off the phone she looked at him, as if she were waiting for him to say something. When Tim spoke Roxanne looked back to him. "Yeah, I do." She said with a nod before looking to his parents. "Mom and Dad, I... I want you two to be careful. He never flat out said it but I have this feeling he has someone watching this house. He knows Tim and I are close but he doesn't know we're together yet and I really don't intend on telling him or my Mother." She said to him before looking to Tim. "Tim, I think you're right... As far as meeting them face to face. As bad as I need answers... I'm not going to put this family; my real family, in danger." She said, knowing he would like what she said.

Tim kissed her cheek and nodded. "I am sure we can speak to them face to face eventually, but it will need to be somewhere that is safe for you. For the moment we will just have to stick together. I am sure he will learn eventually that you are here, but the longer it takes him to find out the better. For now, let's relax until the detective gets here." He got up from his seat and took Roxy's hand. He led her out of the kitchen. He stopped when his parents couldn't hear them. "Would you like to stay down here? Or would you rather go upstairs? Upstairs may be better if you feel you want to change into some clean clothes. It shouldn't be too long before the detective gets here."

"I'll speak to him face to face when he's in a jail cell." Roxanne said to him and although she didn't say it, her Father's words had visibly shaken her. Roxy nodded in agreement when Tim stated how certain he was that her Father would eventually learn where she was staying. She watched as Tim stood from his seat and took her hand, she stood up herself and followed him out of the kitchen. When he finally stopped the two were standing at the bottom of the stairs. "Upstairs." She stated without hesitation. "I want to change before he gets here. I feel like I look like crap right now." She said, knowing he would only disagree with her last sentence.

Tim nodded and went with her upstairs to her bedroom. When they were in the privacy of her room he kissed her and then stepped back. "You still look wonderful. But if you feel you need to change so you can feel beautiful, then that is up to you. I'm just happy I get to watch." He grinned and then just leaned against the wall. He waited for her to get changed. He enjoyed watching her. When she was finished he smiled and kissed her again. Then he pulled her down onto her bed and held her close for a while. He caressed her lovingly, trying to get her to relax more. He kissed her again and again.

Roxanne kissed him back as he stepped back and sat her phone on the bed before walking over to the dresser where her clothes were put away and getting out clean clothes: a clean pair of jeans, a t-shirt and clean undergarments. She quickly dressed herself. "Are you sure part of that happiness isn't knowing that you are the only one to see me naked?" She teased as she dressed the top half of her body. She then quickly dressed the bottom half of her body and when she was done she put her phone back into her pocket, certain that the detective would ask to see it. When he pulled her down onto the bed and pulled her close Roxanne kissed him back, resting her head on his shoulder as he caressed her, relaxing a bit more under his touch, but not much more. As Tim kissed her repeatedly Roxy kissed him back each time. "Tim, I love you so much and know that I always will." She said softly, looking up into his eyes as she said it.

Tim just stayed there with her until he heard a car pulling up outside the house. He figured it would be the detective and he slowly pulled away from Roxy. He got up and waited for her to get up as well. He heard the knock on the front door as they reached the door of the bedroom. As they made their way down the stairs he could hear his father greeting the detective and inviting him in. A man in regular, casual clothes was walking into the livingroom just as he and Roxy were. Tim greeted the man and then let Roxy have the chance to do the same. Soon enough they were all sitting and it was finally time to tell the police about what her father had done and was threatening to do.

Roxanne sighed when she too heard a car pulling up outside the house. She knew it would be the detective and she also knew that once he started questioning her about the relationship between her and her parents that it would be hard for her to get through what Roxy thought was going to be a few solid hours of questioning. Roxy got up from the bed reluctantly and took his hand before heading for the the door. As they reached headed down the stairs Roxy stayed close to Tim, nervous about how things would go and when they reached the bottom of the stairs she watched as the detective walked in. Roxanne greeted the man just as Tim had. When they all were seated Roxanne was unsure to start so she pulled out her phone. "I guess the best place to start would be with this. I turned it on earlier to see two voice mails and close to two dozen text messages and all of them are still on here." She said, offering it to the detective for him to take, figuring it would be used as evidence.

Tim sat close to Roxy and tried to help her relax. The detective took the phone and simply set it down. Then he started asking simple questions to Roxy. First he confirmed that she was claiming her father abuses her. Then he asked about how rough the attacks were, how frequent, and what usually caused the attacks. He wrote all the answers down. Then he asked about medical records and got the phone number for her doctor. Finally he dealt with the phone. He looked through all the messages. It was hard to read his face. Just before he turned on the voice mails Tim stopped him. "Would it be ok for us to leave the room while you listen to those. We have heard them and would rather not hear them again." When the detective nodded Tim took Roxy's hand and led her out of the room. When they were far enough away so they wouldn't hear the messages he wrapped his arms around her and held her close. "You are doing great. I don't think he will be here much longer. You told him everything you can. Those messages and your medical records should be enough evidence."

While Roxanne would answer any questions the man had to the best of her ability it was clear that by the time he was ready to listen to the messages that Roxanne was tense and nervous. When Tim asked if the two of them could leave while the messages were played and the detective allowed it she found herself thankful and she followed Tim as he took her hand and lead her out of the room. When were on the side of the kitchen farthest away from the living room and Tim wrapped his arms around her, simply holding her close, she let her back rest against his chest. Roxy nodded in agreement with his words. "Tim, thank you for staying by me through all of this." She said before kissing him, really she was thankful to have him as both her best friend and boyfriend.

Tim just smiled and stayed there with her until they were called back in by his father. The detective was writing down notes about the voice mails. When he finished he pushed the phone across the table back to Roxy. Apparently he had made official copies to be used as evidence so Roxy could keep her phone. The police had the messages, both text and voice, with them and that meant that no matter what might happen to Roxy's phone, the proof would be there. There were some final questions and they were more practical. He asked if they would like to set up any kind of protection and his parents answered that they wanted restraining orders. Then he asked Roxy, "Do you want to press charges against your father?" It was the most important question. If she said yes then he would be arrested. If not they would likely investigate him and the family would get restraining orders, but there would be a smaller chance of him going to prison.

When Tim and Roxanne were called back into the room by his Father she wasn't shocked at the final questions he had for both her and Tim and his family. "Yes, I do. He's been doing this, abusing me in general since the time I was about seven or eight years old and since that time my Mother has just let it happen. I can't speak as to why she's never tried to put a stop to it, maybe she's scared of him but I do know that I need to end what he's doing to me." She said, looking at the detective as she spoke. It was clear that nobody had made her her do this and that she really wanted it to end.

Tim just listened as Roxy gave her determined response. He smiled and watched the detective make a couple of notes. With that he had all he needed to know and got up. He gathered his things and then shook the hands of each of them before leaving. His final words were that they should hear from the police station soon. He left the house and went to his car and drove off. Tim smiled and kissed Roxy's cheek. "You did a wonderful job. Now we just need to wait and see what happens. We may need to talk to the police again, but hopefully they will get everything handled on their own now." He took her hand and led her to the hallway by the stairs. He looked into her eyes and smiled. "So, what do you feel like doing now?"

Roxy seemed happy as the detective left, and satisfied that her Father was finally going to get what he deserved. As Rim kissed her cheek she smiled. "They will probably need to do more questioning even with what they have, they'll want to make their case against him as strong as possible." Roxanne said before leaning in and kissing Tim on the cheek. When he took her hand and lead her so that they were half way to the stairs she looked up at him. "I'm not sure, I think for right now it's best we don't really go anywhere but I don't know what want to do. How about I let you pick?" She asked with a smile as she looked up into his eyes, curious as to what he might pick.

Tim looked at her and thought for a short while. Then he shrugged. "Well,we know what happened last time we went outside in this weather, so I think going into the back yard would be a bad idea. Why don't we go upstairs and play some video games...for real this time." He grinned and laughed softly before kissing her cheek. "You do have that video game collection that is now here. Why don't we kill some time with that. I'm going to crush you, I guarantee it." He laughed again. He knew there were a few games he could beat her at, but most they were either even or she could easily beat him. Video games were also one of the few things he would not treat her like a princess with. He would always try his best against her. Anything else would be an insult.

"Video games sounds like a good idea to me." She said, grinning at him before leaning in and kissing him on the lips. "Although, if I were you I'd be prepared to get my ass handed to me." She joked. Roxanne then took his hand and lead him up the stairs. While her Playstation wasn't unpacked yet she knew which bag it was packed in and it wouldn't take long to unpack it, the games and to hook it up. "So, I'll leave it up to you: what game would you like to play?" She asked, kissing him when they got up the stairs and into the doorway of her room.

Tim laughed with her and made his way up the stairs. They started to get things ready to play games. He looked over at her and shrugged. "Do you really want to give me the advantage like that? You know I could just pick the ones I know I'll win at. Unless you've been practicing behind my back." He laughed again and then picked out a few different games they could play. Each of them was one they were about equally good at. He wanted them both to enjoy it just as much. When they had finished setting everything up he took a seat on the floor leaning back against her bed and grabbed a controller.
