A Not-So-Peaceful Marriage

(Quoting me or stating that yourself?)

When Fujiyomi slept at the break of dawn, Nathan became the body now and he awoke with a loud yawn. Looking around, he saw the bird and sneered. "Damn. Slept all the way up there. Hey Bird brain, wake up!" He said as he threw a pillow at her nest. "Its time to get up. We gotta go hunting. Unless you wanna starve for the day." He said shrugging as he sat back against the bed. "You should really learn to lighten up some." He said laughing at her. "Damn though. I'm glad I don't turn into some stupid animal like you can. I'm the only one who can't transform in my village." He said as he stood up and looked at her. "Cmon Myron. Lets get going."

As soon as he stirred and called up to her, she flew down from the other side of the rafters just before he threw the pillow. Fortunately, the nest made it. Unfortunately for him, the pillow was now quite happily caught on the rafter. Having switched over to her human form, she spoke to him dryly and an expression that wasn't quite a glare, but most certainly wasn't all that hospitable. "First of all, my name is Myran. If you insist on calling me otherwise, I shall have to find a name that suits you as well. Secondly, we already have food. There are stores of it in one of the extra rooms this home contains. It is always prepared as such that we will not have to leave in the first two weeks. Most weddings, after all, are joyous affairs." She scoffed. "We are not expected to exit this building until the food has run out... And thirdly... Thirdly, you can transform. You merely choose not to."

Nathan looked at her confused. "I can't transform." HE said as he sat on the bed and watched her. "I've never been able to transform..." His eyes grew sad as he looked down to his hands that now held themselves. "I've never been...able to..." He repeated as he grabbed his hand tighter as memories of pain and torment from others came back to him. "Dammit..." He whispered to himself as he laid back on the bed. "Don't even lie to me like that...I can't transform and thats that. If you want to be like the others and fuck around with me because of that, go right ahead. That'll make this marriage a WHOLE lot better..." He said as he grew silent and still.

Immediately, Myran rolled her eyes. "Oh, so now you're going to play the poor, devastated little boy?" She was unmerciful in her speech. He hadn't earned her mercy, her kindness - none of it was something she gave freely. "And was it not you who so willfully attempted to harass me?" She turned cool eyes on him. "Don't preach to me something I've known since I was born little boy. It doesn't matter if you're older than me - it's come to my attention that you lack a large portion of maturity and possibly even logical thought." Her response complete, she merely watched him, her expression plain and without any indication of what she was feeling. As for what she was feeling...? Well, if he was going to act like a child, she'd treat him like one.

Nathan stood up and glared at her. "Damn you you bitch...!" He said angrily to her. "You've lived the good life too long you spoiled bitch!" He said as he walked over to her and grabbed both her shoulders as he glared at her. "You wouldn't know what its like to live who I am! To continuously be put down for something you haven't done! To have people turn a blind eye to you for no reason! To just have to prank people just to get attention from anyone other than your father! But you wouldn't know would you!" He pushed her back. "I bet you whore yourself out to every man in your village!"

"And now it's time for the child to throw his tantrum," she said coolly, not bothered in the least. "I'll wait for you to calm down and get a hold of your composure. You obviously lack control and discipline." And with those cutting words, she changed forms again, hopping up to the pillow that had gotten caught on the rafter. His words didn't bother her, nor did his grip on her shoulders. Rather, her stance was more along the lines of such - if he wanted to throw his tantrum, he could go ahead. She wasn't going to reward him for it.

Nathan felt unsuccessful at the lack of a reaction and just glared at her. "Fine...you want mature...I'll give you mature...but first I'm going to go blow off some steam." He said before he opened the door and left to take one step outside to close the door. He already felt like his body was slowly being electrocuted but it wasn't enough. It just pinched every now and then in his arms but he didn't mind. He began to walk forward and could feel the increasing effects of the spell working on him. "Damn this marriage...I knew I was seriously taking one for the team when I agreed to marry her...'Oh, its not like I have nothing else to do.' Dammit I'm so stupid...!"

At his words, Myran merely gave a mental sigh. As he exited the room into the hallway, she could already tell that he was feeling the pins that came with the attempt to escape. Her father had explained it all to her. The electrocution was a punishment of sorts. They weren't supposed to feel the need to be apart from each other. As a result, if one ever tried to leave the direct vicinity... Well, the shocks weren't designed to kill. It was fortunate, though, that such shocks didn't affect the one remaining, else she might suffer crucially as it were. She was, after all, in her bird form. When the door shut, she dropped to the ground in her human form, simply taking up a volume on hunting. Myran was already decided. She'd read for a bit while the child went to go and 'blow off some steam'.

Eventually he got down on one knee as he could feel his body's nerves begin to shut down to paralyze him to prevent him from going on. Using whatever energy he could, he got up and began to walk back toward the house...feeling the pain slowly give off and make it that much easier for him but his body was already taking toll. Before he could reach the doorstep of the house, he fell to the ground and began to pant as the pinching of the warning shocks came to torture him until he'd gain his body's movement again. "Damn...that...bird...creature...will...remain...silent...to...ignore...her...!!"

Although she heard his words through the door, she couldn't particularly find it within herself to care. If that was how he wanted to do things, that was fine with her. It showed he still had a great deal of growing up to do, but hey - she could only ask for so much at a time. Still, this was going to be annoying. God. Some days she hated her father, but some days she loved him. She knew what the releases to increase the distance were, but she wasn't willing to do any of them. She would much prefer to stay within five feet, in whatever form, ignoring each other before bringing herself to share anything with someone she couldn't find it within herself to love.

Eventually...Nathan passed out from the fatigue he had and Fujiyomi appeared. Since he himself was not married to Myran, he was unaffected. Looking up, he began to claw at the door handle until he managed to get it open and he walked inside. "Sorry to disturb you." He said as he closed the door behind him quietly. "The boy passed out and that forced me out to come. What did he do now?" He said as he moved to sit a ways in front of her, eying her.

She didn't bother setting the book aside as she noticed the wolf entering. "He wanted to 'go blow off steam,' so I let him go," she said with a shrug. "I'm not someone he knows, so he has no right to expect anything from me, just as I expect nothing from him. While I might say that common courtesy is something that should always be present, he didn't treat with with such, and so I give as good as I get. I'm not going to stay with a little boy forever," she continued. "Anyways, he'll come to sooner or later. I have no intention of telling him how he got here."

Fujiyomi nodded. "I appreciate that you will not tell the boy exactly how he got in here. It would be best he didn't know...I am sorry for the way he was acting. It shames me to know that I have to inhabit the body of a child such as he." He shook his head. "Best be ready...I have to let him out once more so that the body clock will remain normal." Moving to lay down in the bathroom, he eventually fell asleep and woke up as Nathan. Stumbling out, he looked confused but didn't say anything to Myran. He simple moved over and sat down on the ground and laid with his back to her...ignoring her. This would be a looong year.

She was several chapters into the book she was reading when her stomach first alerted her of its need for food. Considering she had no intention of obeying the call of a child, she merely moved a few inches to grab her bag - which had food in it. Fortunately, it was also locked with a rather difficult puzzle. You had to solve it before you could open the bag. As she already knew how to do so, she was able to quickly grab a few pieces of jerky to nibble on as she ate. She pulled out a few extra on a piece of parchment and placed it on the floor within reach of both herself and the child. Myran closed the bag, scrambled the puzzle and returned to her book.

Smelling the scent of food, Nathan looked over his shoulder to look at her. He watched her as she ate the jerky...The food in the hut didn't have jerky. His mouth began to water as he watched it and he began to slowly move closer and closer to her until his eyes seemed to beg for the food. "Myran...May I have a piece of jerky...?" He said softly...and hated himself for saying it like he did.

"You may," she said with a smile. She gestured towards the jerky she had on the parchment - she was taking pieces from the small pile there as well. "Help yourself." She rewarded politeness and good behavior, after all. It was only fair that she say yes. Somewhere in the back of her mind, the psychologist in her was awakening.

Taking one of the larger bits of jerky, he began to chow on it with love and enjoyment, moans of appeasement in his voice as he loved the succulent taste of the jerky. "Thank you Myran..." He said lowly and quietly...trying not to meet her gaze lest she might randomly snatch the jerky from him. He began to eat faster at the thought of it...He just wanted to eat and sleep...maybe just maybe try and get Myran to fulfill the tradition of newly weds...to sleep with each other.

"You're welcome, Nathan," she said, still smiling. "If you want something more filling, though, the kitchen and pantry should have been stocked. I can always fix us something that's actually a meal instead of a snack like this." She gestured towards the jerky. Myran was very pleased. His attempts to ignore her had failed horrifically and he was being polite, which was always a good thing.

Hearing her, he nodded slowly. "Please Myran...can you make me...US...something to eat...?" He said with wide eyes as he was actually hoping for something more filling than a snack like jerky. "I promise I'll be better...Just...Something to eat please...?" He said as he moved closer to her, eyes wider than they had to be but they seemed to be like puppies' when they begged for something that they really wanted.

"You don't have to beg," she said softly. She marked her page, closed her book and set it aside. She repackaged the jerky, solved the puzzle, placed it in her bag, scrambled the puzzle, and stood up. "Ready to go to the kitchen?" she asked, brushing any dust off. "Anyways, what would you like to eat?"

Nathan shrugged as he stood up and walked with her into the kitchen. "I do not know...I will eat whatever you want to make. I've never been choosy on what I eat. Whatever you make...I'll more than likely eat." He said with a small smile as he looked at her. Sitting down at the table, he laid his head down. "Let me know if you want any help cooking...If not...My body is still sore...I might take a small nap..."

"Hold off for a bit," she said, not particularly paying attention after he said he had no favorites. "Food'll be ready in five minutes." Looking through the supplies they'd been left with, she'd found that they had some foods that were already made. They only needed some heating up, and that was easy enough. All she had to do was serve it.

Hearing how short it would be, he sat up and nodded. "Alright if it'll take that long...I thought you were going to cook a long dinner." He said chuckling a bit as he watched her. "Something homemade would be nice...but I guess pre-cooked food is great as well." He said with a large smile on his face.

"Well, you mentioned you were hungry," she said with a shrug. "I know I am. I might cook up some steak or something for dinner, but for now, the immediate solution to the immediate problem is good enough for me." That said, she ferried food and cutlery over to the table. There was quite a variety. "They've given us lots of meat and greens," she said thoughtfully as she began to chew on a small carrot piece.

Nathan immediately began to dig into the meat rather than the greens. Vegetables were for birds...meat was for wolves. He loved every bit of it, and left some of it for Myran after his belly was full. He had an amused look on his face as he was sustained of hunger for now. "Mm...that was delicious honey." He said smiling to her to reflect that they were still married. "Tell me...dear...what shall we do now, hm?" He said without any hint toward sex.
