Angel's and Demons

As the night seemed to drag on it felt to Nanoki that it would last forever, but he knew that it was still the same number of hours from sunset to sunrise that it always was. When she left the bed he knew it would only be a few hours until they dealt with their plaguing problem, but it would be interesting to see how everything turned out. If her brother really was as mad as she had seen, then they would be in for a long day. Once she left the room Nanoki went to the small shrine he had set up in the closet, and he sat himself down to meditate so he could ask for some guidance from his ancestors.

Aurora watched as the sun rose into the sky. How the dark sky became colors of orange and yellows, then gave way to pink and finally light blue. She was lost in thought though as it all unfolded in front of her. Part of her wanted to go after her brother right then to ensure that Nanoki was not hurt. But she did not want to hurt him by leaving him behind. She might also need his help if Michael was attacking another demon, Nanoki might have to get that demon to safety. She drew a deep breath as thought about what she truly want to do today and that was to make love to Nanoki and just enjoy there new found love.

After his meditation Nanoki stood, and grabbed his iPod strapping it to his arm he stuck the earbuds in. Turning on the newest podcast from Nu Energy Collective, he let the bass flow through his body as he moved slowly through a close quarters kata. After a few moments his movement speed increased, until at last he was using all of the speed he had to flow through the movements. Despite the fact that he would rather go back to bed until a lot later with Aurora, Nanoki knew they needed to rid themselves of their problem before they could enjoy themselves. once he was finished with the kata, he took a few moments to recall the spell at his disposal to see which may come in handy. Then he went out to watch the rest of the sunrise, and as he looked out over the city with the sun comming up he let his mind slip into thinking of nothing at all while his music played.

Aurora drew a deep breath she saw Nanoki come out to watch the sun rise. She moved closer to him, her head rested on his shoulder. She looked out over the world before them, most people still a sleep, enjoying the moments before their day would start. She could hear the music knowing he probably couldn't hear but she still whispered she loved him.

Quietly he watched rising of the sun with the one he loved, and as she came over he wrapped an arm around her with a smile. Once this was all over he would do his best for her, and to that effect he pulle out one of the headphones saying "Once this is over we'll go shopping. So we can get you new clothes." However he decided not to tell her what else he had planned for the shopping trip, because he wondered what her reaction would be. "I love you, and once this is over there'll be nothing to keep us apart."

Aurora smiled "well I think you will have to help me pic out new clothes, I have not a clue what women wear now." She said with a giggle. "That is the only good part of today, after today we won't have to worry about the silly war, and we can just be happy together. "

"Yea. I only hope that no one else will decide to pick things up. I don't know how much help I'll be, because I don't pay attention to what people wear. I wear what ever I think looks good, and what I think is comfortable. I'm sure people at the store wil be able to help you get what's right for you." he said lightly while trying to keep his one off the task ahead of them.

Aurora smiled. She turned and kissed him passionately. "Lets go finish thing so we can some back here and go on with our lives." She tried to stay positive wanting it all to be over. "Lets start with wear the demons are, maybe Michael will be sniffing around there."

"Or maybe you should just stay here and we can do this now" Michael was standing behind them in the house watching as they kissed. "Really dear sister you want to put your mouth on a dirty demon like him"

Aurora just stared at Michael. "You shut the hell up and lets get this over with"

Smiling he returned her kiss, and wondered to himself as to what this scent that floated to his nose was. Something was wrong, but he let it go for a moment as he lost himself in her kiss. He was about to respond to her when Michael's voice echoed from inside the house, and he turned with a malicious grin saying "Or better yet we could go some where else. Because I don't want your stench in my house, and for the fact that if we fight here innocent people will be hurt. Either you or I will be the only one to die today, so let's go elsewhere and avoid questions by humans. Unless you're scared of me that is." In an instant he was moving along to a deserted area where no one would get hurt except for the combatants.

Aurora looked at Nanoki she knew he was right they could not have all out battle here. Someone would get hurt. With a wave of her hand they all were standing in an open field.

"well look at this, Aurora you really are going to help this demon" Michael was still a little shocked at that. "tell me Nanoki, what sort of tricks did you use on my sister to make her side with demon scum like you?! You tell you love her, you tell her you always want to be with her..but wait haven't you done that song and dance before with another women"

With a chuckle he looked at Michael, and wondered if the angel had nothing better to do than to cause him problems for no reason. "Honestly Michael, tell me one thing. Why is it that you're so fixated on destroying my life? Is it possible that you're mad because you can't have me for yourself? I used no tricks, nor have I done anything. She is free to leave if she wishes, I'm not stopping her from doing anything." Nanoki replied calmly, for there was no reason for him to fear the Angel that had been destroying his life since he was a child. "Hmmmm... Now that you mention it. This has happened once before, but thanks to your damned meddling everyone I get close to dies. However this will be the last time we meet, and since you could not finish this the last time what makes you think you can do so this time?" he asked slipping back into speech patterns, and posture he had broke himself of after he decided he would not fight or kill again.

Turning to Aurora he looked at her with his cold cobalt eyes and said "Once this is over if you wish to know about my past all you have to do is ask, or after seeing who I truly am you can leave and I will not stop you." Turning back to Michael he grinned viscously adding "Thanks to you I get to come out and play once more, so as I said this ends here and one of us will not be leaving."

Michael didn't say a word he just grinned. He knew he had upset Nanoki and knew this would be an easy kill. Michael drew his sword and rushed at Nanoki. His tip was poised to stab him when his blade ripped through flesh. But it wasn't Nanoki, Aurora stepped between them.

Aurora felt the blade in her gut and she was shocked for a moment then she stumbled back from the blade. "I'm sorry Nanoki but he would kill you" She said in a gasp. Her hand hold her wound. she looked at Michael. "This ends now Michael" With that Aurora's great wings open they had to be 12 fee long. She rushed Michael grabbing him by the shirt and the two disappeared into the sky.

He stood silently watching Michael with no emotion showing on his face, but the angel had only seen this side of him once before, and that was the time they nearly killed one another. As Michael rushed him, Nanoki saw his opponent's movements in slow motion. In an instant his blades were in his hands, but just before he moved Aurora was in front of him. Talking about Michael was going to kill him, and before he had a chance to say anything they were gone.

Looking around he sighed, and shook his head. "Do you really have that little faith in my abilities? I am an oni, a demon, not some normal human..." he said aloud to no one in particular, but he was worried about her. Nanoki did not know what he would do if the bastard took yet another person from him, but he sat on the ground unmoving.

It was only mere moments after she has disappeared into the sky when the sky filled with bright golden light. It engulfed the who sky and burned brighter than the sun. Then as quickly as it appeared it began to fade away and from it fell a body. And with a loud thud it hit the ground. Michael lay unconscious on the ground.

It was moments later that Aurora came down from the sky but she too was free falling but not as fast as Michael her great wings helped slow her fall. She hit the ground not far from Michael.

Sitting on the ground he had not bothered to look up at the flash, because he knew better but his head snapped up as his ears picked up the thud. Seeing that it was only Michael he ignored it, but as Aurora came down he was at her side instantly. He wanted to yell at her, but nothing would come out so he took her into his arms finally he was able to ask "Are you alright?"

Aurora looked at him, she looked so tired. Her eyes were soft, but they held sadness and concern. "I am sorry Nanoki, but i couldn't let my dream come true, i couldn't watch you die....but" she gasped as the pain from the wound in her stomach finally hit her like a ton of bricks "but i also could let you kill him..."

"It had to be done, but don't worry we'll talk later. Right now you need to rest, I'll take you home." he said softly, and gently picked her up. "However I think that even on his best day, all he would have been able to do is wound me the way he did you." Nanoki said and despite the fact that he wanted to say more he held his tongue. He knew it could all wait until after she was fully healed, but he was worried about her right now.

Aurora shook her head a little. Her hand covering her wound as if to hid it from him. "NO Nanoki, I'm sorry i can see in yours eyes that your upset, i know you wanted to face him, but I just couldn't let you kill one another...I didn't kill him Nanoki, i stripped him of his powers. Even though he was a bastard for what he has done i still could not let my brother be killed..." She said in a rush of breath as the blood from her wound coated her hand.

Shaking his head Nanoki smiled at her saying "None of that matters, but what does matter is getting you taken care of." With that he held her close, and took her to a woman that had healed his wounds so long ago. In moments he was lightly knocking on the door, and a man answered it glaring at him until he realized who it was.

"Ah Nanoki what brings you to our humble home?" he asked curiously.

"Ethan is Jamie in? I have someone that was injured by Michael, however he won't be bothering us any more." he said as he looked at Ethan. The man looked to be about thirty, but Nanoki knew better.

Ethan nodded and his short brown hair bobbed as he did so, but despite standing six foot two he was still shorter than Nanoki was. The man turned and said over his shoulder "You know where to take her, and I'll go inform Jamie you're here." With that the man vanished into the depths of the house.

Nanoki moved through the darkened house to the room he had been in several times himself, and once there he laid Aurora down on the mat waiting for the healer. However his eyes were unfocused and he did not move as he waited, but his mind was in motion asking himself how he could have not seen what she had done.

Aurora's mind was racing had she ruined everything because she step in with Michael. Aurora couldn't bare to think that made he hated her for it. She laid on the mat looking up at him. She felt weak, and her body felt like it had broken into a million piece due to her fall. But still all that didn't matter all she cared about is if he hated her for what she had done.

The image of her being in pain, and the image of her gaining the wound that was meant for him had Nanoki's mind frozen. It brought back the images from when he was a child, and reminded him that despite the fact he had grown, and despite the fact that he had become a different person than he was then it seemed he could do nothing. He knew then that he was useless, and all that came to mind was his own failure. "Baka. Baka. Baka. Baka." he repeated calling himself an idiot for not being fast enough to save her.

After a few minutes Jamie and Ethan came into the room, but as she saw Nanoki and heard what he was saying she had Ethan remove him from the room. Before he was removed he managed to murmur "Daisuki..." Which had Jamie's jaw wide open, since after all the time she had treated him for these things she had never heard him say anything like that.

Once the men were gone Jamie turned to the woman on the mat "So it seems not only were you in a fight with Michael, but you have stolen the rogue demon's heart. You must be one special woman, or should I say angel?" she said gently to Aurora, and she watched for any reaction yet she decided for the moment not to translate Nanoki's last word.

Aurora forehead wrinkled, she didn't understand what he was saying but she had a feeling it couldn't be very good. She was about to ask when the door open, she watched as the man from earlier entered and a women she didn't know. But she knew neither one was here to heart she felt the goodness in them.

Aurora watched as Nanoki left the room with the man she wanted to have him stay but she didn't stay. Her attention quickly turned to the woman. "How did you know?" she wasn't sure how she knew Aurora was an angel or that she loved Nanoki.

Jamie smiled as he eyebrow piqued and she asked "How did I know which?" She had been around for nearly six hundred years, but it seemed as though the battle had been going on since long before that. "The fact that you are an angel was easy. With your dress, and the scent you have. I would say you have been here less than a week, and that you are staying at his home while sleeping in his bed. Knowing him Nanoki is most likely sleeping on the couch, but that is neither here nor there. As for how I know you have stolen his heart that was a shock to me, but I am not looking over him any more." she replied with a light smile.

Carefully she looked over the wound, and with a shake of her head she gathered what she would need. "However I have been around long enough to have picked up several languages in my travels, and it was necessary for us to learn Japanese since Nanoki did not speak English when we found him all those years ago. The last thing he said to you was daisuki..." she paused as she started applying the medicines saying "This may hurt a bit, but please bear wit it because in a few days you will be just fine."

Aurora was at first a little shocked but then smiled at the woman. "I guess you go me there as far as being an angel. But i am not sure what daisuki means..." She bit her lip. When Jamie explained she found Nanoki it must have been after his parents were killed. fitting into the thought that she was a good person. She braced her self for the pain but it didn't seem to help at it hurt to much. She whimpered tear swelled to her eyes.

"Well daisuki is a non-formal way of telling someone you really like them, so he was basically telling you he loved you. So that is how I know that you stole his heart, but now is not the time for you to be worrying about it. Right now I would suggest you heal, and when the time comes you can work out what ever happened." Jamie said gently as she continued to work. "I do not think he will be doing anything for a while himself, so just take your time and rest."
