"Babs...Mancusso doesn't have ANY kids." Jim told her firmly, then sighed as he recalled Harvey had said the same thing about him yesterday. But at list Jim's file had Barabra listed under next of kin, but there was nothing like that in Mancusso's file. Of course, it wouldn't be the first time said files were incomplete. "I'll talk to Montoya about it." Jim finally said softly. She had the inside track on the department personal relationships and would know if he had a kid who wasn't listed. Jim didn't know anything about how karate tournaments worked so he couldn't speak to that.
Jim sighed as he heard the report. The problem was, it could be interpreted either way. "Are you sure she didn't throw the first punch?" Jim asked with a frown. Not that it was any excuse for tearing her clothes off, of course, but it made a big difference in the self defense angle. He then sat bolt upright...wait...they yanked your skirt off?" He demanded, finding it hard to believe his daughter had been stripped again her first full day in Gotham. He then frowned as another thought occurred to him. "Wait...you said they ripped off Miss Larusso's clothes...did they damage them? Or your skirt? Do you think you can get her clothes?" It might make good evidence if he wanted to build any kind of case, and his frown deepened as he read the official report from the mall. "The video footage is unavailable." He told her, and that also made him more inclined to believe Babs. If Sam was the aggressor, he had little doubt there would be video footage to back it up. Eyewitness reports were, sadly, notoriously unreliable.
"I'm familiar with the area." Jim told her. "Just...don't go visiting the neighbors, okay? when I get off work this evening, I'll come by and give you and Chloe a ride home, okay?"
Just then, Chloe popped her head out the door again to see what was taking Babs so long. Just giving the Captain a quick update on their location shouldn't have taken more than a minute.
