Ianite was just coughing a bit and Calla was moving the bucket away before helping her get comfortable again.
 
All of the staff were arriving - minus Calla since she was sitting with Ianite at the time and Kelly since she was asleep - although the butler had been the one who had told a few others not to wake up Kelly, that she was an exception.
 
Adrian looked at the satff and then he went off making it clear he wasn't happy with many of them. it wasn't long before he gave them an ultimatum to either work for him and respect his fiance or to leave
 
There were some of them that were deciding to leave right away, not wanting to respect some commoner that didn't deserve the title of duchess at all.
 
There were a number that were just turning and leaving without an hesitation. Some seemed to be unsure - more because they were loyal but some of their friends were leaving. "Is her Ladyship alright? I heard that she was severely sick...." one of the maids was questioning, a genuine tone of concern in her voice.
 
"her ladyship has woken up and will be doing better but I do not have the time or energy to deal with staff who won't tend to her with the respect she is owed" Adrian looked around at the other staff and knew that he would have to hire more people
 
There were some of the leaving staff that was commenting that he couldn't believe that he was choosing her over people that had been with him for years. "Stop bad mouthing her ladyship. She has been nothing but kind to the staff - even when the staff mistreats her. She just smiles and treats it like an accident - trying to cover so that you don't get into trouble." Kelly speaks as she seems to come downstairs out of the blue.
 
Adrian looked at her and nodded to her "I pay well for my staff to be respectful of those in my home but it seems that you would rather bad mouth the woman i picked to marry then to serve my household faithfully"
 
Kelly was just watching before she was pointing out a few that had never done such a thing - they never spoke badly of her, nor did they do anything bad to her.
 
ADrian watched as only a few more left and once they were all gone he spoke "I will work hard in getting replacement staff so those of you who are staying will be reciving a pay raise"
 
This had them all nodding and there were soon more questions about the future duchess - concern more than anything. A sign that they did like her .
 
Adrian then dismissed them all back to their jobs so that the work could get done. Adrian then asked the butler to start the hiring process right away
 
Adrian then turned and headed back to Ianites room to let Calla know that she would have to work a little more then normal for a while till he was able to hire more staff
 
Ianite was asleep again when he came back in and Calla was juat stretching out her arm, a look of pain actually reflected on her face. that that she had been hiding while Ianite had been awake.
 
Calla looked over before she spoke "Some of the men aren't happy that a woman is training with them. So it is a show of strength. I wanted it build it up but... Not in this manner... "
