Westbrook OOC

@Inkybus That's fine. Here or a PM? I've got a PM with @MsBloom which right now we don't need, I wouldn't mind two separate ones.
Let's discuss it here: I want things to be transparent. Communication is key!

So, the first thing that we have to determine is: is/are there actually a healer/s anywhere else in the world? Because I have this idea for a "healing" power, where the healer in question can 'store' the malaise or injuries of someone and then inflict the stored unwellness in another biological creature. It could also require skin to skin touch, but it would be faster to heal a big wound for such a healer than Amaya would be able to heal. For example, if someone got mauled by a big cat and had their belly torn open, this hypothetical healer could, with just a second of contact, undo the damage, and with another second of contact inflict the same wound on an assailant that attacked them in hand-to-hand combat, whereas it would take Amaya about 10 seconds, and leave the healed person drained of their biomass and fatigued besides, as though they ran for five to ten minutes...

@Inkybus My baddies have been quiet all Tuesday and so has (I've noticed) Schro as well. Now I just went back to the CS thread and read up on him and seeing as he associate with the primary group of drug dealers in Westbrook might we perhaps set up a quick scene with him and Blair when Blair approach him for drugs and the two somehow connect? Maybe Schro recognise Blair from the news and Blair complains that it is not all fun and games to lack a sense of touch as it not only mean they can't feel pain but also that they cannot feel pleasure.
Well, Schro was not entirely stagnant: he organised a beatdown to the strange tunes of Oingo Boingo while dressed like Pulcinella (except with a veil-like-hood instead of the conical hat).

But yeah, we can definitely say that Blair meets Schro when he wants to buy drugs and they get found out by police who only heard a description of Schro's cape persona- then, when they try to apprehend him, Blair can bust some heads and further increase his infamy. Or, perhaps, Schro will offer him to take the blame for what he did to the cops, making another little video for the WPD to further cement his image in their minds and get a better grip on their perception with his powers.

@Inkybus I'm okay with that, and like the idea mentioned IC about being invisible. Or they're in Eastern bloc of Europe?Adding @MsBloom here, I'm thinking something happened in 2013 that DIDN'T get out, or got shut up, & made to disappear.

I do have a few theories that Edith could ask Ella(?) to check out regarding missing persons that have never resurfaced. Both after 49 and 2013?

You mean that the injury-swapper has a secondary power to become invisible at will? That could work. So, let's say hypothetically that there is an NPC out in the world (hypothetically, we start by saying that the NPC is in Romania, maybe)- is that what we are going with?

Maybe they can meet at the flophouse and we can include Alexa as well.
I'm not going to direct Alex Guthrie, but you are welcome to if you wish. I'll happily write what Schro and his posse of NPCs do in reaction to what Alex does.

You pretty much nailed the general gist of the idea @Inkybus

I have to pay my rent today so it'll be afternoon or evening when I can get on to reply, and to continue brainstorming.

That was the idea. I sort of inherited Alex/a after Casual left. I've been meaning to write up a new profile for them/her.
I look forward to reading what you have in mind.

No worries, I am not on all the time either, usually reply when I have ten minutes of break or so.

Right, I have a different question about powers and unexplained, superhuman abilities that metahumans have: do you want, in this setting you've written, have powers that come from different places/reasons/circumstances? For example, one person is a mutant and has genetics that make them superhuman, one person is a wizard and throws spells around, one person is an alien and simply is better than humans, one person is an entity that some consider divine, one person is ""merely"" human but a genius playboy philantropist and so on and so forth...

Personally, I dislike this setup: it reminds me too much of World of Darkness and the inequality between Mages and every other supernatural creature.

The set-up on "mutant" is sort of the situation. Those that had latent powers already, (ie Windy's speed, Erin's computer mind, and even Su-Ji's instincts, Amaya's healing: all learned or chosen traits) are the ones exasperated by the meteor. They weren't mutants at first, they were normal humans just better than your average human. As far as the other choices? The billionaire playboys (Batman and Ironman, without using them. No canon, if you remember...) would exist with or without the meteor exploding in the air (airburst) and raining fragments down. I'm sad captain bond checked out. A meteor caused earthly Superman is exactly the kind of hero I was expecting. I already knew my Nancy Drew like character was going to be a cop and become an Oracle like hero. She was the first one I had already picked to co-star as field and overall leader.

Having said that, I think we do need to world build more outside our town and surrounding area. That's why I'm all for the out of country events especially, and possible history of it happening before.

Going back to the healer that libes abroad: they got their power from another, smaller meteorite that burst nearby amd made fewer people into metahumans, should we say that? And one of them had a connection to the secret service of the country and so they became a group that works for the government in return for complete secrecy.

That, in turn, allowed the ruler to turn the country in an autocratic state, though they were careful not to go too far...

Yes, that works wonderfully, especially the healer, or other of those European metahumans, having worked with secret service. Perhaps the healer is the leader like Erin is of the stateside ones, by order of the country? After all, Erin's under orders to be the leader of the Westbrook one, at least on paper, by her police captain.

Let's pull @MsBloom in on this for input on Erin taking a vote among the actual heroes of doing individual (solo) heroing but still being accountable to the other members, because Su-Ji would have Windy's vote on solo heroing.

I can say as it stands, Ginger would be on the fence, seeing the pros and cons of both ideas.

Not entirely sure what the question is as such but I say that just because our Westbrook Metas form a group doesn't mean they can't also work alone, or in twos, at the same time. Not everything has to be a group effort. I think that Cheshire for instance would probably consider the group as more of back up for when it is needed.

That's what I thought you said Cheshire's take was, and like I said, Velocity (Windy) would agree with her and side with her.

Yeah, Ginger would definitely hem and haw around, considering her power is magnetism.

Should we say the new authoritarian regime also clashed with Cordonia, which was protected by the duchess against the various (admittedly low-powered) metahumans tasked with various sabotages and the like? And that their clashes did not have a clear winner yet, since both sides usually disengaged from hostile confrontation before things got deadly?

Cordonia would also be protected by it's king and long history of neutrality going back to it's first ruler, but that works, and would explain better the threat of an international incident by Westbrook politics trying to make excuses of why Olivia can't fly home. I say the Air Force sees no reason to keep the airport closed anymore, but the mayor is trying to be like a don mob leader with the police commissioner his second. This would coincide with what Rebecca said about looking at a RICO situation. Or even, the mayor is the commissioner's puppet. Either way, Gabe and the others at Ricci and Associates would have their own hands full.

Police commissioner is in on the corruption. That basically ties the hands (to an extent) of the good cops, like the unnamed Captain, Detective Holmes, Officers Jenny and Rainier.

But the police commissioner are on the same level or below the mayor, aren't they? Wouldn't the people above them take notice and then take them in hand?

You'd have to go to the state. That's something Rebecca or Amaya could mention. In fact, Rebecca could mention it in her meeting Wednesday, and Amaya could back her up Friday. The Mayor is the top dog of city politics. It's got to come from the capitol.

It does not really matter to Amaya, since Rebecca and her did not have problems getting out. It matters for the duchess, who should have thought about raising a stink and getting the state on the mayor's case for this.

Right. I should have thought of that myself, now that it's after 5pm on Tuesday. (48 hours after event and airport's still closed.) Could be something we do while Windy and Loni are having dinner, if you want to take someone up at the state? Olivia could even threaten not having the Cordonian embassy in Westbrook, or even that state, AND bringing her king in on it. I'd have to have someone to play Olivia against. I mean I will play her.

She can have contacted her liege and through them the State to crack down on the mayor. Unfortunately, I don't fancy taking on more characters unrelated to my three: I've too much stuff on my plate, so I can't really write all that much. But we can say that it happens offscreen, unless you want to do something like I did with Schro, to illustrate how messed up he is and give one opportunity to lay eyes on him in-character
